Praris asked Draco incredulously, "What did you call me?"
Draco's eyes flickered, but he remained silent.
“Draco Malfoy!” Praris’s eyes flashed with anger. “Do you think I won’t get angry?”
Draco knew Praris would be angry, but he didn't expect her to be this angry, even calling her by her full name!
"Ha, I get it. You think this is for my own good, right?" Praris scoffed. "Come on! Thinking you're doing this for someone else's good is the most stupid idea in the world!"
Prarese's biological father, Deepell Williams, was such an arrogant bastard! She doesn't want to repeat her mother's mistakes!
Now!immediately!immediately!
Without delay, she had to snap Draco out of his daze right there and then!
“If I weren’t certain you were a living, breathing human being, I’d seriously suspect that the Frobisher caterpillar had replaced your core!” Praris said with a sneer. “Listen! I don’t want you to pretend to be heartless and drive me away, I don’t want you to make decisions for my life. I don’t want your sacrifices, and I certainly don’t need your 'good intentions'!”
"Do you think your brain, kicked by a hippogriff, is smarter than mine? Do you think I don't know what you're doing?" Praris said arrogantly, poking Draco's chest repeatedly. "What you've done, what you're doing, and what you're planning to do is as clear to me as your brain!"
Draco wanted to argue that the hippogriff had actually kicked his arm. But he didn't dare say a word, standing frozen in place, stunned by Praris's tirade.
“Come with me!” Praris glared at him fiercely.
That look wasn't "Come with me," it was more like "Try not to come with me!"
Draco instinctively followed Prareas, only to find that she had walked to the House of Requirement.
The Room of Requirement opened, and Prareus dragged Draco inside.
Before them lay the Vanishing Cabinet, which Draco had almost repaired.
Draco was completely stunned.
Praris sneered: "I told you, it's obvious."
Chapter 174 This is called respiratory alkalosis
Even though he was in a completely airtight room, Draco felt a breeze. The wind blew against his back, making him shiver involuntarily.
Draco knew Praris had an extraordinary mind, but he never expected that he would be completely transparent in front of her.
What surprised him even more was that Praris was so direct, giving Draco no room to defend himself.
“I doubt anyone has ever told you this…” Draco said weakly, “You’re such a domineering woman.”
Praris's lips curled slightly: "There are probably many behind the scenes, but you're probably the only one who said that to my face. After all... no one wants to experience my revenge."
Draco had an idea, the same one he had when teaching Prares to waltz: This is my own fault.
Zabini once said that you shouldn't date someone who's too smart. A charming and beautiful woman is worth loving, but a smart and capable woman will only become an obstacle.
Draco retorted confidently, "That only proves you're afraid of her and not capable of getting her to protect you!"
Was Draco afraid of Praris? Probably yes, he wouldn't have said such an accurate thing unless he had experienced it firsthand.
But he also enjoyed the process, enjoying having a star shining beside him, enjoying the feeling of being proud of her, enjoying being protected by her, and enjoying relying on her to bully others and act like a bully.
However, this is also a double-edged sword.
When this formidable woman fixed her sharp eyes on him, Draco could only break out in a cold sweat.
Draco asked dejectedly, "When did you find out?"
Praris used his wand to pull over a chair, then tapped it to clean it, and sat down casually, interlacing his fingers on his knees.
She said, "What's the point of knowing this?"
“I’ll pretend I know nothing about this until I decide to,” Praris said calmly. “When I decide to, it will be right under my nose.”
Praris began to understand why capable people didn't like to speak like human beings.
The feeling of being deliberately mysterious can really fool people!
Hearing Praris's words, Draco thought of Zabini again. After returning from the school infirmary, Zabini said to Draco, "I never realized you were such a courageous person."
Draco had no idea what was wrong with Zabini until Goyle told him that Prarese was retaliating against Zabini for talking nonsense that angered her.
“I understand!” Draco said, somewhat irritated. “You don’t like me making decisions for you. You like to be in control! But if I kill someone, are you going to kill someone with me?”
“Of course I won’t kill with you,” Praris said calmly. “I will stop you.”
Yes, Praris will stop him.
Draco was well aware of this, so he didn't want Praris involved in the matter.
Prior to this, Prareas had been lenient with Draco until the Katie incident.
Draco remembered that he had recently given Slughorn the mead his mother had prepared, hoping that Slughorn would give the mead to Dumbledore as a gift.
Narcissa held Draco's hand, her eyes shining, and said, "Slughorn has a habit of regifting gifts from others. He worked with Dumbledore for many years, and Dumbledore is known for his sweet tooth."
Draco looked at his mother, then down at the mead, and hesitated before saying, "Mom, what if Slughorn gives it to someone else?"
There's already a Katie Bell...
“Isn’t that a good thing?” Narcissa reached out and touched Draco’s thin face, her eyes filled with heartache. “Draco, Slughorn has sided with Dumbledore. He’ll probably only give the mead to those who belong to Dumbledore, which is a good deed.”
"What about students?" Draco asked again.
“That would be even better!” Narcissa said nonchalantly. “It’ll just give Dumbledore a little trouble!”
Their only ally at school was Severus, and Narcissa didn't think Severus would pick up the poison, drink it without realizing it, and drink it all!
Given this situation, the anxious parents and the Ministry of Magic, which is currently on edge, are enough to give Dumbledore a lot of trouble!
But now, Prarese suddenly confronts Draco.
Draco couldn't help but wonder if Prares already knew he was preparing to kill again.
If it were Praris, nothing would be surprising!
“You can’t stop me!” Draco shook his head and backed away, but kicked his own toolbox and had to stop. “I have to do this, for my father, for my mother, for my family!”
The mead has been delivered, and the gears of the new plan have begun to turn. Unless Slughorn keeps the mead hidden away, someone will pay the ultimate price!
Draco felt his heart race, his mouth go dry, he started sweating, and he felt uneasy as he thought about how good his mother's plan was.
Narcissa knew Draco wouldn't do it, so she prepared the mead herself. She told Draco, "Draco, you just delivered a bottle of mead. The poison was from Mother, the mead was prepared by Mother, and you weren't the one who delivered it to the last person. This has absolutely nothing to do with you!"
Is it really okay? Draco's heart pounded.
Even if he didn't buy the knife, didn't put the poison on it, and didn't accidentally stab someone in the chest... he was still the one who handed the knife to him!
Normally, teasing cats and dogs, causing trouble, scaring people, and getting into fights are nothing life-threatening. But this year, he has repeatedly committed acts of murder!
“Even if I can’t stop you, I have to stop you.” Praris stood up, walked over to Draco, and put his hand on his shoulder. “Draco, you don’t want to do this either, do you?”
Prareas said she didn't want Draco to make decisions for her.
Doesn't Pralis's actions at this moment count as making a decision for Draco? That's a mission concerning the fate of the Draco family; what right does she have to stop Draco?
No, this doesn't really count as making a decision for Draco.
If Draco genuinely enjoyed killing, Pralis would never have fallen in love with him in the first place.
It was precisely because Pralis knew perfectly well that Draco didn't want to do this that she had to stop him.
What made Prareus stop Draco was not only Prareus, who loved Draco, but also the tormented self within Draco's heart.
His emaciation, the dark circles under his eyes, his unstable emotions, and the intense melancholy and pain he exuded were all cries for help from Praris.
Praliss felt Draco's body trembling. She looked up at Draco and whispered, "Draco, doing this scares you, doesn't it?"
Her hand moved from Draco's shoulder to his arm, and Draco's breathing became rapid: "Are you devastated? Are you heartbroken? Do you hate murdering innocent people? Are you tormented?"
“Draco, I know you’re not the kind of person who would do such a thing. Deep down, you are kind; you are compassionate and loving,” Praris said with her eyes closed. “Beasts only kill their prey to survive, but humans have compassion. This is not cowardice, this is not shameful. Draco, it’s simply because you still have humanity.”
Praris said slowly, "Give me a hug, okay?"
Draco raised his arms, which had been hanging down, one arm around Praris's neck and the other tightly around Praris's back. He buried his head in Praris's shoulder, trembling all over.
“You can cry, Draco.” Prareus’s voice was so soft, as if afraid of blowing him away. “It’s just me here, and here, you can cry.”
Draco let out a very low, muffled growl, like a large fish caught in a fishing net and unable to escape. He clung to Praris like a snake, like a parasitic dodder, or like a drowning man grasping at his last straw.
Deep within Draco's soul lies a dark abyss. It feeds on the torment and pain Draco suffers, expanding endlessly until it becomes a bottomless abyss. This abyss awaits, awaiting a key called "Sin," to unlock the gates of depravity.
This "evil" was a premeditated murder of an innocent person.
Praris felt his shoulder getting warm.
That was Draco's temperature.
It's also the temperature of tears.
Or perhaps it's the temperature of sadness and pain.
Prader's heart could never harbor the image of a cruel murderer. Yet, faced with Katie's ordeal, she couldn't tear open her own heart to expose Draco.
This is not just because the murder failed.
Failure may simply be due to a lack of intelligence.
It was also because of the melancholy Draco subtly revealed, a melancholy born from the torment of his bloody mission.
Draco cried for a long time, as if he wanted to shed all the tears he had shed that year. Prareas gently stroked and patted Draco's back, as if comforting a toddler.
She had experience caring for children, as the convent took in abandoned babies. If a baby is crying without any apparent physiological need, stroking from the top of the spine downwards or picking her up and gently patting her back can effectively soothe the crying.
Praris's thoughts wandered further. Draco cried for so long. Could he possibly outdo Myrtle in crying?
After careful consideration, I decided against it. I shouldn't have such a strong competitive spirit over such strange matters; after all, the dead should be respected.
Praris felt she should be sad, at least to go along with the current atmosphere.
But it's hard for someone like Praliss to get caught up in her emotions, even though she's comforting Draco right now—it's just her way of showing leniency towards him.
When faced with emotions, you should address the problem that caused those emotions; if you can't solve the problem, then deal with the person who created it.
Just as Praris was thinking, "If we just take care of Voldemort and his Horcruxes, everything will be fine," Draco slowly raised his head.
Prareas looked at Draco with an incredibly calm gaze, which calmed Draco's emotions as well.
Draco took a deep breath, closed his eyes and then opened them again, then reached around his neck for a necklace. The necklace was adorned with two interlocking rings.
He didn't know how he did it, but he just touched it and took off one of the rings, handing it to Praris.
