Perhaps Professor Flitwick had said something similar, but only to Sylvia Prince. This was the second time a member of their family had shocked the professors of Hogwarts.
Some people say, "I knew all along that Snotty was not trustworthy; he deceived Dumbledore!"
The one who said this was Sirius Black, who had the most wounds besides Bill.
"So close!" Sirius said through gritted teeth. "I was just a hair's breadth away from hitting him! I was just a hair's breadth away from making him pay for Dumbledore's life!"
“It’s not your fault, Sirius!” Harry mustered his strength to comfort him. “You did it all for me…”
Ms. Priscilla put her arm around Praris's back, gently turned her head back, and covered her ears. "Darling," Ms. Priscilla said, "don't listen or look."
After a while, the Weasleys finally finished their discussion, and their fiancée Fleur asked Prince on their behalf, "Prince, what are the chances of the second method succeeding?"
“It’s hard to say,” Praris said calmly. “Only one patient used that drug, although he was completely cured. The drug hasn’t been tested on many more people, and the patient’s surgery wasn’t on his face.”
"In other words," Furong said, her eyes filled with hope, "that someone has tested it and it works."
Praris nodded: "That's not wrong."
Fleur and Molly Weasley exchanged a glance, seemingly having made up their minds, and said, "I'm counting on you for Bill."
From the moment Prarese entered the school infirmary until she left, apart from Ms. Priscilla, Winnie, and the discussion of Bill's condition, no one else spoke a single word to Prarese alone.
Some of them saw her as a lifeline, some looked at her with complicated feelings, and some looked at her with hatred.
Surely someone here hates Prader and wants to use her to get revenge on Snape and Malfoy. But no one can say Prader is guilty, or even that they need her to save Bill Weasley's life.
Praris took in all these gazes, then hugged Ms. Prie and Winnie: "Goodnight."
“Good morning,” Winnie said.
Praris, ignoring all those gazes, straightened his back and walked toward the Slytherin common room.
Starting the morning after Dumbledore's death, Slytherin parents began to arrive to pick up their children.
Becky Burst was the first; she was a plump, high-pitched middle-aged witch who yelled at Millison as soon as she saw him: "Now, right now, immediately! Pack your bags and come with me!"
"Aunt! What brings you here!" Millison exclaimed in surprise. "Where are we going?"
“South America,” Becky Burst said. “I have property, villas, and connections there. You can go to Argentina to be a commentator.”
"What?" Millison said in a panic, "I'm not coming back next semester? But I haven't graduated yet!"
“Graduation isn’t the important thing,” Becky said nervously. “The important thing is to live—as long as you’re alive, there’s hope. You know that?”
“I…” Milison swallowed hard. “I need to think about it.”
Millison rushed back to the dorm and saw Pansy and Daphne packing their things. Only Praris sat on her bed, her hands supporting her on the edge, watching the others busy themselves.
"Are you leaving too?" Milison asked.
Pansy dug a letter out of a pile of junk: "Dumbledore is dead, and Hogwarts is not an option for now. My mother's suggestion is to go home first, and we'll talk about the rest later."
“And what about you?” Milison looked at Praris.
Prarese said calmly, “I’m going to Dumbledore’s funeral and then I’ll be traveling to the southwest—I have family in Devon.”
"You're going to Dumbledore's funeral?" the three girls shouted in unison. "Are you crazy?!"
Pansy said in a shrill voice, "Professor Snape killed Dumbledore, and you still want to attend Dumbledore's funeral!"
“Why not? We’re witnessing history.” Prarese shrugged. “Crabbe and Goyle are going.”
Prareese said this, but the expressions on everyone's faces clearly showed their disapproval. They suspected that Dumbledore's supporters would retaliate against students close to Snape.
Unable to stop Praris, Pansy could only ask Millison, "And what about you?"
“My aunt is taking me to South America…” Millison hung his head in frustration.
Pansy nodded: "That's good, let's lay low for a while."
“She told me not to come back,” Milison added.
Milison understood Aunt Becky's feelings; the fact that her brother had died taking the blame for the Death Eater's wife had left a deep psychological scar on her.
Having lost her only brother, she had only one request for Milison: to live.
Just living, nothing more.
But how could Millison abandon her unfinished studies, her homeland of more than a decade, and her friends of many years?
“You can leave now,” Praris suddenly said.
Pansy and Daphne both looked at Praris in surprise.
Millison was Prasris's first friend at Hogwarts, and even though Prasris and Pansy became closer later on, her relationship with Millison was never the same.
None of them expected that Praris would actually ask Milison to leave!
Milison looked at Praris with red eyes: "Play, can you bear to part with me?"
“I don’t know… I don’t know,” Praris said quickly. “But you already have Owls, and your dream doesn’t require graduation. You don’t need to stay here.”
“But I’m pureblood!” Milison exclaimed excitedly. “I won’t have any—”
"But your mother will turn you into a Death Eater."
"Death Eaters must not be minors, and must not be those who haven't graduated!"
"I want it now."
A deathly silence.
Pansy sat on the velvet stool, her eyes lowered, and she saw Praris's hands gripping the sheets tightly, trembling uncontrollably.
“Draco, is it?” Pansy suddenly asked.
For a long time, no one answered her.
But she already had the answer in her heart.
Pansy turned and collapsed onto the blankets, letting out mournful sobs. She cried softly, like the last gasps of a drowning person.
Milison was leaving after all.
Several girls stuffed their belongings into her suitcase until it could barely be closed.
They started seeing Milison off from the dormitory entrance.
When we got to the foyer, Aunt Becky said it was fine.
It was no use; they just passed it over to the lawn in front of the castle.
Aunt Becky said it's not safe now, you should go back quickly!
It was no use; I finally reached the iron gate. The warthog statue was not far away; there was absolutely nothing left to give.
Praris felt she should say something, ask Milison to write to them, ask Milison not to forget them... but along the way, no one said anything, they just kept walking in silence.
"I'm leaving." Millison turned back, carrying her suitcase, and it was she who uttered those words. "Will you forget me?"
Praris didn't cry, but suddenly covered her face: "I won't, you know I won't forget anything!"
Just like now, Prarese suddenly remembered that when she was searching for her origins, the first person she ruled out was Anna Prince, who worked as a sports journalist in South America.
It wasn't really related, but Praris just inexplicably thought of it and felt extremely sad.
Prarese also recalled that she had hoped to travel to other countries or places like Anna.
“I haven’t been to any other countries since childhood,” Praris said. “I’ve always wanted to travel around, but I haven’t done so yet.”
"Could you look around for me, okay?"
Chapter 191 The Ruthless Slytherin
The four girls huddled together, finally mustering the courage to say something random. They said not to forget, to always think of me, to write letters, to send gifts, and then they begged me to stay safe…
Those who stay hope those who leave have a safe journey, and those who leave wish those who stay to live well.
Becky Burst stood to one side, carrying Millison's suitcase, took out a cigarette from her pocket, and started smoking.
The last time someone was saddened by her passing was at least twenty years ago, wasn't it?
That's what young people are like—their emotions overflow like the waters of a Scottish lake in March, and they'll even grieve and shed tears over a parting.
Millison is gone.
The British rarely say "Goodbye" when saying goodbye; they prefer "See you later" or "Catch you later," as if the next meeting is just around the corner.
This time, however, they couldn't bring themselves to say "later." After a long pause, all they could manage was, "Take care!"
Millison finally boarded the Hogwarts Express today, bound for London from Scotland, and then on to South America.
Becky was taking snacks out of her bag for her niece when Millison suddenly burst into tears.
She craned her neck to look, only to find that Millison had simply taken a bag of flattened pound cakes out of his suitcase.
"What's wrong?" Becky asked, puzzled. "Is there a problem?"
Milison shook his head with tears streaming down his face, took out one of the pieces, and stuffed it into his mouth while crying.
She mumbled, "Auntie, you should eat pound cake when you're not feeling well."
Becky had never heard of such a thing, but she didn't stop her niece; she simply asked the cashier for a glass of juice to prevent Millison from choking.
As for whether it was choking on food or hiccuping from crying... even Millison herself couldn't tell, let alone Becky.
The three girls returned to the Slytherin girls' dormitory and sat on their beds in silence.
Pansy and Daphne both lost the energy to continue packing.
“It’s only a day later, I’ll stay and attend Dumbledore’s funeral too.” Pansy’s voice was a little hoarse. “Perhaps I don’t want to experience separation again for the time being.”
“I admit I don’t really admire her,” Daphne said suddenly. “Rude, stubborn, blunt, and very proud of her muscles.”
Pansy and Praris looked at Daphne with some confusion, not understanding why Daphne started scolding her as soon as Millison left.
Daphne scratched her head and said somewhat irritably, "But I didn't expect her to leave. I was laughing at her a few days ago for using her brains to exchange for physical strength... I should have been nicer to her. Maybe I won't have the chance again."
"Was her last impression of me—" Daphne paused, then said frantically, "that she cursed rhythmically? That's so rude!"
Seeing Daphne's expression, the other two wore expressions that were both sad and somewhat amusing, making them look a little distorted for a moment.
Yesterday, Prarese promised to treat Bill Weasley, so she went to the empty underground classroom again.
In the corner of the classroom, there were still some crucibles she had used that were chipped, boxes containing cheap materials, and oddly shaped medicine bottles.
