Draco still possessed a kind heart and lacked the courage to commit murder. Coincidentally, Professor Snape and Draco's mother, Narcissa, had made an unbreakable vow to help Draco in the final moments.
The Seven Potters' plan seemed too cruel, and without Dumbledore, it would have inevitably led to the sacrifice of some members of the Order of the Phoenix.
But Dumbledore simply said calmly, "Everyone is prepared to make sacrifices."
“Wait a minute,” Praris said in surprise. “You mean, we’re not going to Harry’s house on the 27th?”
“That was the plan,” Dumbledore said, “but since you gave the two-way mirror to Severus, we have a better plan.”
The Seven Potters plan was already quite complete. Voldemort intended to kill Harry himself, and the weaker member who had become Harry was essentially not in mortal danger.
Voldemort would immediately change his mind once he realized that it wasn't Harry, but due to the shared wand, he couldn't kill Harry. Meanwhile, the Order of the Phoenix members who hadn't transformed possessed the ability to resist danger.
As for the potential risks... that's why Dumbledore initially planned to have Prareas observe the battle from the sidelines.
But things changed when Prarese gave the Two-Way Mirror to Snape. They could have easily intercepted and killed Nagini while Voldemort's entire army was on the offensive!
In Dumbledore's eyes, the locket had already been entrusted to Harry for destruction, and killing Nagini now would allow them to enter the final battle sooner and reduce casualties.
There are some risks involved, but it's well worth it.
After hearing Dumbledore's words, Prasris's mind raced as he calculated the potential gains and losses.
“No, I won’t accept that.” Praris shook his head quickly. “There was a large-scale prison break in Azkaban recently, but the Order of the Phoenix didn’t know about it. The Death Eaters’ headquarters are currently at Malfoy Manor. Even if they come out in full force to hunt down Harry, there are still people left behind at the manor.”
As a result, Dumbledore, whose body has not fully recovered, and Prareas, who has just come of age, may not be able to successfully infiltrate Malfoy Manor and kill Nagini.
Prareas lowered his head in thought: "Moreover, this is a challenge to the trust that Professor Snape has just established with the Man of Void."
The Ministry of Magic leaked information that Harry would be transferred on the 30th, while Professor Snape gained trust using the actual time of the 27th. With the Death Eaters swarming out at that time, and headquarters under attack, who to point the guns at? Was there even a question?
Yes, Professor Snape could have argued that the other Death Eaters involved in the hunt knew the timing of their operation, but that would have placed all the pressure on Professor Snape—a very typical Dumbledore-esque behavior, considering the consequences but not much about how difficult it is to clean up the mess.
At times like this, Pralis would inwardly roll her eyes. She'd completely forgotten that Dumbledore was a Gryffindor among Gryffindors!
Princess Dumbledore only needs to show her trust, but the two princes have much more to consider!
If any member of the Order of the Phoenix were here, they would simply carry out Dumbledore's orders without asking any questions.
But Prasris is different. She will point out the flaws in Dumbledore's plan the very next second he presents it, forcing Dumbledore to improve his plan in order to convince his only partner now.
“Prareth, are you worried that the Gryffindor sword will be recognized?” Dumbledore’s bright blue eyes shone. “But you said you just saved Bill with the limb regeneration potion—you have the basilisk venom!”
Nagini can also be killed by soaking a dagger or other sharp weapon in the basilisk's venom. The basilisk's venom mixes with the giant snake's own blood, making it indistinguishable like a needle in the ocean.
Afterwards, Dumbledore persuaded Praderes to believe in her own abilities, and also said that she was not actually that weak.
But Praris still has countless considerations.
By storming Malfoy Manor and killing Nagini, they essentially exposed their knowledge of the Horcruxes and their ongoing destruction of them, which would undoubtedly prompt Voldemort to take immediate action.
Ravenclaw's tiara is at Hogwarts, so it can't be found there. But Voldemort would undoubtedly go to Gringotts, the cave, and where he hid his rings immediately to check; it's impossible to hide it...
“Wait a minute.” Praris’s eyes widened. “The Crown! The Room of Requirement! Sir, we haven’t solved the problem of the Vanishing Cabinet passage yet!”
Hogwarts is still a leaky sieve!
Dumbledore seemed to only then remember this: "Ah—yes, that's right."
Prarese felt frustrated. Dumbledore was always oscillating between meticulous planning and flawed schemes, with a bridge between them called "patching up wherever it breaks."
"Are your other plans the same?" Praris sighed, rubbing his forehead.
Dumbledore comforted Prader, who seemed somewhat anxious, saying, "Prader, don't panic when you encounter trouble. There is no perfect plan in this world. My plans for Harry were also gradually adjusted and formed over several years."
Harry once told Prader that he couldn't imagine what Dumbledore looked like when he was young. From Prader's perspective, it's all too easy to imagine!
Her face darkened, and her lips twitched slightly: "So that plan also seems full of flaws."
Dumbledore burst into cheerful laughter.
Praris couldn't help but recall Heidi's books about the Four Heavenly Kings, finding some of the descriptions surprisingly accurate. It seemed that Godric Gryffindor was the one responsible for charging into battle and managing the overall situation, while Salazar Slytherin followed behind, filling in any gaps in their defenses.
History repeats itself in a bizarre way, with Gryffindor and Slytherin joining forces once again as age-gap teammates.
Okay, for now, the matter of the night raid on Malfoy Manor will be postponed until closer to July 27th. What they need to deal with now is the Vanishing Cabinet.
Without revealing that Dumbledore is still alive, it's not easy to get into Hogwarts during the holidays, especially since it's been less than a month since Dumbledore was "murdered".
So, they prioritized targeting the vanishing cabinets in Borgin Burke's store.
Overturned Alley.
With the Death Eaters becoming increasingly active, Knockturn Alley is now much more bustling than Diagon Alley. Dumbledore's "death" further exacerbates the chaos in wizarding society.
Praris encountered a tightly wrapped wizard every few steps, and brushed past them with her head down.
Of course, she and Dumbledore also lived in a clandestine relationship.
Dumbledore said in a low voice, "To be honest, I appreciated the last one more."
Prarese transformed Dumbledore into a curly-haired, dark-skinned man, an American tourist from Southend-on-the-Sea.
Now, that Muggle has probably left Britain long ago and can be used freely.
Praris said coldly, "Mr. Wald, we have no room for choice."
“Very well, Miss William,” Dumbledore shrugged. “It’s up to you.”
Prarese and Dumbledore temporarily referred to each other as North and Brian Walder.
crunch--
Prarese pushed open the door to 13B Knockdown Lane, the Boking Boking Antique Shop.
"What do you need?" The shopkeeper seemed to mistake the two for other wizards looking for defensive items. "Armor? Or something offensive?"
Praris lowered his voice: "We plan to take a look first."
Chapter 197 Let Me Cry
The items in Borgin Burke's Antique Shop are all visibly evil; they either possess powerful dark magic or serve other dangerous purposes.
Prareas recalled that the necklace Draco accidentally injured Katie Bell was purchased from this store.
This shop certainly fits Draco's style; he likes alchemy and has some interest in dark magic.
In Praris's memory, Draco had also created some less-than-safe magical items, but he wouldn't let them appear in front of Praris.
The diminutive Mr. Bokin's gaze followed the two wizards' every move. Suddenly, he spoke, "The pendant around your neck seems to..."
Praris suddenly looked up, his dark eyes beneath the hood staring directly into Bokin's eyes, giving Bokin a sense of panic that he felt completely seen through.
“Ah—” the witch who gave Bokin a bad feeling said knowingly, “It seems you’ve seen it before.”
The black-robed witch slowly approached Bokin and whispered a command to him: "Go and close the door. You know the stakes, don't you?"
Bokin recalled the mark on the boy's arm, stood up nervously, walked to the door, and changed the sign on the door to "Temporarily Closed".
Having done all this, he swallowed hard and tentatively said, "I have fulfilled Mr. Malfoy's request. That night..."
“Old man, what right do you have to interfere with our decisions?” Praris lowered his eyes, looking at Mr. Borgin with disdain. “Take us to see the Vanishing Cabinet!”
Mr. Borgin broke out in a cold sweat and, hunching over, led the two men who appeared to be Death Eaters to the Vanishing Cabinet.
He knew, of course, that the day after the Death Eaters entered the cabinet, news of Dumbledore's murder swept through the entire British wizarding world like wildfire.
Borgin, who was involved in this process, had been worried about being silenced ever since he learned of Dumbledore's death. Half a month later, the Death Eaters finally came knocking on his door again.
This was the first time Praris had seen another vanishing cabinet, and it looked much better maintained than the one at the school—or perhaps it was the result of a year of intensive maintenance.
Dumbledore stepped forward and gave Prareth a look. He reached out and touched the handle of the Vanishing Cabinet, and within a second or two, the wooden cabinet was instantly engulfed in red flames.
Seeing this, Mr. Bokin was startled. But before he could figure out what was happening, he heard a deep voice beside him say, "Forget everything!"
Mr. Bokin immediately rolled his eyes back, fell heavily to the ground, and fainted.
"You really went all out!" Dumbledore exclaimed with a sigh. "Miss William, you're getting more and more skilled at playing the Dark Wizard."
“Do you think I’ve managed to hide until today by luck?” Praris put away her wand and said seriously, “It’s necessary. If we hadn’t completely brainwashed Borgin, we could very well have attracted Voldemort’s attention.”
After saying that, she smiled and said, "Sir, I have to thank you for your guidance. Practice makes perfect!"
Dumbledore teases Prarese for using a deadly method to erase memories, while Prarese retorts that Dumbledore has twice made her play an evil dark wizard—the last time she even had a specific target in mind, playing the mentally unstable Belacritus!
After a childish banter, the two began setting up the scene: taking away some expensive black magic items, burning some other furniture, and smashing large ceramic and glass products... all done under the influence of silencing magic.
Soon, the Bojin Antique Shop looked like it had been thoroughly ransacked, with the charred vanished cabinets blending in perfectly.
Praris glanced at Mr. Bokin lying on the ground, then reached out and tucked the exposed lucky pendant into his collar.
Prareas determined that the Scandinavian pendant wasn't something Draco owned, so there's a high probability it was purchased from Borginbock.
In that one glance that met Mr. Borkin's eyes, Praris got the information she wanted to confirm. Sure enough, Mr. Borkin took the bait as soon as he saw the necklace, without making a fuss, and even obediently changed the sign to "Temporarily Closed".
With techniques like mind control, forgetting everything, burning, and stealing... Dumbledore's only remaining question was whether she had gone too far in erasing Mr. Borgin's memories. Indeed, Dumbledore wasn't exactly a rule-abiding person.
The unruly Dumbledore pulled Polyjuice Potion from his pocket, took a sip, and his face contorted in disgust. "This tastes awful," he said. "Let's go!"
And so, the two wizards, one old and one young, swaggered away from the scene after committing the crime.
In the past, only those walking in Knockturn Alley would hide themselves completely. But now? Everywhere you look, people are dressed in black robes, even in Diagon Alley.
Dumbledore was such a waste of potions that Prareus took the opportunity to buy some materials from a herbalist to replenish his supplies.
Bradley, the old buddy, didn't recognize Praris and immediately demanded an exorbitant sum: "These, eighty Galleons."
Praris said coldly, "Is the extra money going to be used to build your coffin?"
Dumbledore looked at Prasris with a sense of novelty. He had previously thought that only he, who had manipulated Snape's emotions to scheme and plot, would be scolded like this, but now he felt much more at ease.
Bradley grinned, revealing a mouthful of yellow teeth: "Miss, you should know that things aren't going well right now. Not many people dare to send anything to England."
In other words, it's not a buyer's market now, it's a seller's market. Although Bradley's herbs are expensive, going out at this time is still very risky.
Prarese thought about it and decided to let Bradley go. She didn't need the money, and there was no need to haggle with him at this time and here.
Anyway, the money Bradley is making now will be returned to Praris in another way later—potion masters always make profits many times over.
Praris tossed him the bag of gallons and said calmly, “Oh? As if these herbs were actually imported from another country.”
Bradley, head down, hurriedly took the money bag, then realized what the other person had said and looked up in surprise.
But when he tried to find the two wizards, he could no longer find them.
Bradley glanced around, his eyes darting about, before entering the Owl Post Office in Diagon Alley. He reluctantly spent a few nut to buy parchment and borrowed a quill from the counter to begin writing.
