Gore couldn't understand: "Why are we following Prince? She's not like she's a DA!"
What a joke! Does Crabbe really think Prares is a DA? Not at all, he's just looking for trouble for Prares.
Hogwarts is now in the hands of three Death Eaters: Snape and the Carrow siblings.
Old Crabbe wanted his son to perform well in front of the three of them so that he could be accepted as a new Death Eater as soon as he graduated.
"Vic—my son, Malfoy is a thing of the past!" old Crabbe said sternly. "What you should be fighting for is the opinion of Snape and Carroll!"
Crabbe fully followed his father's instructions, actively working on the front lines of reporting corruption, and repeatedly caught Dumbledore's army in the act, making him very successful.
If they could, who would willingly submit to someone else? Crabbe desperately wanted Draco to stay away from him—that good-for-nothing had accomplished nothing and always needed their protection!
Despite providing information several times, Crabbe had little opportunity to contact Headmaster Snape. The capture of DA was entirely handled by the Carroll siblings, making Crabbe worry that his "contribution" wasn't significant enough.
On the contrary, Prince and Crabbe saw several younger students helping to inform her to go see Headmaster Snape.
Crabbe wasn't oblivious to the situation. Headmaster Snape recognized Prince's talent and had spent several years nurturing her; the time was ripe to put her to good use.
In other words, after Snape became the headmaster with the backing of the Dark Lord, it was already a foregone conclusion in the eyes of the Slytherins that Prince would join the Death Eaters after graduation.
In this situation, Crabbe's best option is to support Prince as he has supported Draco in the past. The problem is, Crabbe has already offended this petty woman.
He didn't even understand when he had offended Prince before he got this terrible result, and even inadvertently deepened the feud.
Crabbe speculated that it must be because of Draco.
Just because he stopped being Draco's slave, this woman, blinded by love, is going to take revenge on her boyfriend!
Thinking of this, Crabbe's resentment grew even stronger than before.
If he couldn't win over Prince, Crabbe had no choice but to go to the other extreme: get rid of the woman. He was that kind of black-and-white wizard; his intelligence limited him from coming up with a win-win or compromise solution.
Crabbe realized that he had followed the DA men to Myrtle's bathroom, but the person who came out of the cubicle was Prince.
Professor Carlow was disarmed in class; apart from Amycus Carlow himself, the most powerful wizard in the classroom at the time was Prince.
When Professor Umbridge was dealing with the DA, Prince, as a prefect and member of the investigation team, did almost nothing.
Ah... these don't really count as evidence, but Crabbe was just trying to frame someone. After all, he didn't really look for any real reasons when he reported DA!
When Umbridge controlled Hogwarts, Prince would always mysteriously hide in the abandoned classrooms, doing who-knows-what. Now, she's doing the same thing again!
The common thread between these two semesters is that Hogwarts doesn't have Dumbledore but it does have D.A.D., right?
Crabbe was thrilled, feeling he had discovered Prince's true colors—he was determined to find out what Prince was up to!
If Prince is indeed secretly doing things against the Dark Lord's will, then Principal Snape should thank Crabbe for reminding him before the storm breaks!
Crabbe was thrilled at the thought that his success in exposing Prince's true nature would reach the Dark Lord's ears and allow his father and the other Death Eaters to witness his abilities!
"Immediately imprison them!"
Crabbe was still peeking around, dreaming of his future success! Suddenly, the door to the abandoned classroom was opened, followed by a solid spell that bound him and Goyle together!
The witch, dressed in a plain robe and wearing a pointed hat, with black hair and black eyes, stood looking down at them, her face somber. The wide brim of her pointed hat blocked the light from the burning torches, casting a shadow that made her appear even colder and more terrifying than before.
“That’s quite surprising—” Praris drew out, his tone cold and sarcastic. “You’d better come up with a convincing reason, or I can only conclude that you’re up to no good.”
……
Crabbe and Gore were "transferred" by Praris to Amicus's office.
“Professor Carlo! Please forgive me for disturbing your rest,” Praris said meaningfully. “A few minutes ago, I was researching methods to improve the euphoria drug in an abandoned classroom on the basement floor.”
Prareas emphasized the word "euphoria."
“At that moment, I unexpectedly discovered that someone was spying on my research outside the classroom,” Praris said coldly. “Remembering your warning, I felt it necessary to find out who was lurking outside. So, I caught Crabbe and Goyle.”
Amicus was sound asleep when he was jolted awake by a loud knocking on the door. Furious, he slammed the door shut, vowing that he wouldn't let the person off easily unless they gave him a clear explanation!
The moment Amicus heard the words "improved euphoria" and "your reminder to me," he was instantly jolted awake, all his drowsiness vanishing!
Having confirmed that Amicus was "awake," Praris continued, "To make sure this wasn't just a chance encounter, I waited a little longer in the classroom—Professor Carlo! I don't think it's unusual for someone to linger in front of an abandoned classroom for three to five minutes without leaving, do you think?"
Upon discovering Crabbe and Goyle's presence, Praris's first reaction was to suspect that the Carlo siblings were spying on him.
Whether they are monitoring whether I am carrying out my mission well or questioning my stance... it doesn't matter!
Especially in situations like this, Praris must not show any guilt. On the contrary, she should stand up confidently and assertively, vehemently questioning the other party's motives, to demonstrate her own openness!
Amicus's dangerous gaze fell on Crabbe and Goyle. His voice was as low as the murky wastewater slowly flowing through the pipes of Hogwarts: "Vincent and Gregory, isn't that right? Looks like your father didn't teach you when to take your eyes out and put them away properly!"
In Praris Prince's test, although she was the sole executor, Amicus was the "proctor."
As an examiner, Amykus had the responsibility to explain the confidentiality rules before the test began, and in this matter, he also had to ensure that the "test questions" were not leaked.
Amicus isn't Malfoy, that arrogant guy who looks down on people and has the potential to fall from favor to contempt. He and his sister weren't high-ranking to begin with, and messing up the mission would definitely result in severe punishment from the Dark Lord!
“Tell me!” Amicus demanded sternly, “What is your purpose in hiding outside the classroom?”
The series of events had completely baffled Crabbe. He never imagined that Prince would so readily throw them in front of Professor Carlo!
Does she truly have a clear conscience? Why did Professor Carlo side with her without even asking?
Crabbe yelled, following the principle that the louder the voice, the more justified he was: "Professor Carlo! I was patrolling for Professor Alecto! I... I thought the people in the classroom were DA! I didn't expect it to be Prince!"
“Lying,” Praris said calmly. “That reason is too flimsy. Let’s come up with another one, shall we?”
Crabbe, enraged, retorted, "What makes you think I'm lying?!"
“I don’t have any particular reason.” Prares looked at Crabbe as if he were an idiot. “I just believe that Dumbledore’s army wouldn’t be stupid enough to hold a gathering on Slytherin’s territory, especially since that classroom is so close to Professor Snape’s former office.”
Amicus glanced at the composed Praris, then at the anything but composed Crabbe, and became even more convinced of the former's words.
"So, you're not going to hunt DAs in the Gryffindor common room, the infirmary, or the library?" Amicus chuckled mockingly. "Instead, you're going to look for DAs underground, is that it—Goyle, you tell me!"
"I...I...I..." Goyle hadn't expected to be called on; he'd just followed along automatically. "I don't know! Crabbe said Praris was suspicious, I think he just hasn't figured it out yet!"
Wow—Praris has a newfound respect for Crabbe! Who would have thought that the first one to discover the truth would be that idiot Crabbe!
Praris pointed to himself, grinning from ear to ear: "Crawb, you mean me? You actually thought I was DA?"
The disbelief on her face and the absurdity in her smile seemed utterly genuine to Amicus. It was as if the words written on it were: "You mean the sun rises in the west?"
“Just a suspicion.” Crabbe glared at the useless Goyle, his words faltering slightly. He tried to justify himself, saying, “They’re all Slytherin, how could I possibly want Prince to be a D.A.? Professor Carlow, she’s been sneaking into that classroom for days on end with her bag! It’s hard for me not to…”
Praris shook his head helplessly and clapped, interrupting Crabbe's performance.
"Alright, alright, I finally understand." Praris's tone was full of emotion. "Professor Carlo, it's just a beautiful misunderstanding."
“I followed your instructions to keep a low profile, which unexpectedly aroused Crabbe’s suspicion. Crabbe’s spying on my work in order to uphold school rules and crack down on DA also aroused my suspicion.”
Amicus didn't believe Crabbe was motivated by such high-sounding reasons. After all these years in the business, how could he not see Crabbe's malice towards Prince?
But Crabbe's father was also a Death Eater, and Crabbe continued to provide information to the Caro siblings... Amycus would probably have some difficulty figuring out how to punish him.
At this point, Praris, the "victim" and "whistleblower," surprisingly spoke up magnanimously and let Crabbe off the hook.
“Professor Carlo, completing my task and catching the DA’s tail are the most important things right now,” Prares said understandingly. “As fellow Slytherins working towards the same goal, I believe we should prioritize the bigger picture. Please do not punish Crabbe for his insolence.”
Crabbe's jaw almost dropped.
How could this vindictive woman be so magnanimous? Did she experiment on herself and ruin her brain?
Amycus hadn't expected Prares to let Crabbe off so easily; it was unlike Slytherin, much less like a student Snape would teach.
“Is that so?” Amicus said. “You’re just going to let Crabbe go like this?”
Praris replied without hesitation, "Of course not!"
Amicus understood immediately: "Oh?"
“I can’t stand having people watching me all the time; it easily disrupts my train of thought.” Praris, with the “Dark Lord’s mission-first” demeanor, said with a wry smile, “I’m not sure what I can say and what I can’t. You’ll have to explain to me that what I’m doing secretly doesn’t really need to be ‘reported’!”
Using the excuse of continuing her research on euphoria, Praris left Amicus's office. A satisfied smile appeared on her face as she closed the door.
As for explaining, given Amycus's personality and the requirements of Voldemort's mission, he wouldn't really explain—he hadn't even really explained the secret to Praris until Praris almost let it slip in the corridor, at which point he hurriedly covered up his mistake.
Therefore, Amicus could only warn Crabbe to stay away from her. From then on, without solid evidence, Crabbe could neither accuse her nor keep an eye on her every move, and had to tolerate all of Praris's suspicious behavior.
Prarese turned around and prepared to return to her abandoned classroom to prepare something interesting.
No way, no way, does anyone really think Prares will let Crabbe off so easily? Daring to accuse her in front of Amycus Caro, she must bear the consequences of that accusation!
Chapter 249 Improved Aphrodisiac
Huff—huff—
Once again, Simon narrowly escaped the patrol. Despite clearly dragging a little boy, he still darted into the House of Requirement like a nimble fox in the forest.
"Ah!" Parvati screamed, "Leo!"
The others present swarmed around him like ants to food, bombarding him with questions about what had happened.
"Quiet down!" Neville shouted. "Scatter, you'll suffocate Leo—Ginny, healing potion!"
Ginny ran over carrying a carved wooden box, quickly took out a palm-sized bottle from it, and carefully dripped it onto the wound on the boy's back.
After a few drops of styrax essence were applied, the boy's wound began to heal at a visible speed, which relieved everyone.
Seeing that the wound was under control, Neville said seriously to Seamus, "Seamus, Ginny and I have emphasized more than once that we cannot bring first-year students directly to participate in rebellion activities!"
"I haven't forgotten!" Simoko was terribly wronged. "Leo secretly followed me here, and I even rescued him!"
DA welcomes all students willing to learn Defense Against the Dark Arts and resist the rule of the Death Eaters. However, large groups are difficult to manage, and from time to time, there are instances of younger students disobeying orders and overestimating their abilities.
Leo's passion is commendable, but his lack of ability can easily become a burden.
Once injured, everyone could only secretly take the wounded to the school infirmary. This would cause a lot of trouble for Mrs. Pomfrey and Barron, and Mrs. Pomfrey did everything she could to protect the school hospital from the Death Eaters.
According to the DAs' guess, the Carlo siblings probably caused another scene at the school clinic. They need to treat Leo's wound first, and then let him go to the school clinic for more comprehensive and in-depth treatment after things have calmed down.
"Where did this potion come from?" Zacharias exclaimed in surprise. "It works really well!"
Neville and Ginny exchanged a glance, and Ginny rolled her eyes first: "Just use it, stop talking so much nonsense!"
Zacharias, confused, exclaimed, "What's wrong with asking? It's not like it's anything shameful. This potion is too effective; what if something goes wrong?"
They were at a loss for words, unable to reveal anything about Praris or have any reason to obtain such a potion.
"It's me!" Baron suddenly spoke up from the crowd. "Uh... I got it from the school infirmary!"
Feeling awkward under everyone's gaze, the curly-haired boy stammered, unsure of what to do with his hands and feet. He said in a low voice, "Use them sparingly; it wasn't easy to get these."
Barron's words amused everyone, and they all patted their chests to assure them that they would be careful and wouldn't make things difficult for the Hogwarts head nurse—since he was the only nurse there, he was the head nurse.
