Praris searched through his memories but had never seen Filch use magic, nor had he ever heard him mention his family.

Could it be that Filch is a Squib? That's why he doesn't usually use magic.

Praris decided to continue observing before making any further judgment.

The next morning, she returned to that corridor.

First, Mrs. Lorris was stiff at the time, but she was not dead—this is what Milison found out.

Clearly, either, as Pansy suggests, the heir has not yet fully mastered their abilities, or these abilities are limited.

Last night she noticed reflections on the wall and floor. Now she realized that what was on the wall was writing, and what was on the floor was a small puddle of water that hadn't been cleaned up yet.

The writing on the wall was enchanted and incredibly stubborn, something no ordinary student could have done. There were scorch marks on the floor, and spiders on the wall. The nearest place was a girls' restroom.

That's what makes it special.

"What are you doing here!" Filch's angry voice rang out behind her.

Praris showed no sign of panic at being caught, and slowly turned around: "Mr. Filch, as you know, Millison also has a kitten. Yesterday she saw Mrs. Lorris and was extremely worried, she kept crying. I've come here to find a way to remove the words from the wall."

Filch's expression softened considerably, and he rambled on, "I don't know, oh, I understand how she feels. My heart broke when I saw Mrs. Lorris. I really don't know what to do!"

Having finally gotten rid of Filch, Praris began to organize the information she had gathered.

Potter and his two friends didn't attend the banquet; they reportedly went to the ghosts' anniversary party. After the party, Potter didn't return to the banquet but instead went down this off-the-beaten-path corridor. His two friends went with him.

What did they discover? What caught their attention and forced them to change course and make irrational choices?

Clearly, Prarese didn't believe Potter was the mastermind, because Granger, the girl he was closest to, was a witch from a Muggle family.

If Potter really did such a thing, given Granger's status and sense of justice, she wouldn't be able to avoid arguing with Potter like she is now.

Granger was with Potter the whole time, so it can be ruled out that Potter committed the crime behind Granger's back.

Before the banquet, people were moving around everywhere; after the banquet, everyone came out. Only the time in the middle of the banquet could be used. But during this time, Granger and Weasley stayed with him the whole time, and Potter didn't have any time to write on the wall.

We can also rule out the possibility of a three-person conspiracy—that's a silly idea. Let me repeat, Granger is a wizard born into a Muggle family!

So it's quite obvious that someone orchestrated this case, and poor Potter discovered something and was drawn in. He's always had bad luck, hasn't he?

Also, Praris looked down at the puddle of water next to him. Where did it come from?

Although it's been cloudy these past two days but hasn't rained, a puddle has appeared here.

The closest one to here is a girls' restroom, where some girls have mentioned a ghost named Myrtle.

She may have witnessed the crime scene.

The puddle of water also pointed to the nearby restroom.

Waaaaah—

Waaaaah—

“Hello, Myrtle?” Praris said cautiously.

A ghost, a girl wearing glasses. She looked very young; Praris thought she was about her age.

She was crying with her back to Praris.

"No, I'm not good!" Myrtle cried pitifully. "Everyone looks down on Myrtle, even when Myrtle is dead!"

Praris was a little at a loss, as Myrtle's fighting power was much stronger than Milison's.

Praris sighed, then suddenly covered her face and began to sob.

Uh, she was sobbing, but she was faking it. Otherwise, she wouldn't have needed to cover her face.

Praris pretended for a while until he heard Myrtle's crying stop.

She pretended to wipe her face a few times: "No, don't look at me, I don't want anyone to see me crying."

This time it was Myrtle's turn to be uneasy, and she tried her best to comfort Praris.

"What are you sad about? Are you as pitiful as me? Nobody likes Myrtle, and even after I died, Peeves came to bully me!"

Seeing that Myrtle seemed about to wallow in her sad story again, Prarees said, "Oh, you don't know, I'm a Slytherin, nobody likes Slytherins, but it's not my choice. Now, even Slytherins don't like me. My friend Millison thinks I'm arrogant, I'm just afraid of losing friends. Daphne is Pansy's friend, and Pansy likes Malfoy. Everyone has their own things to do, and I'm all alone."

Prarese continued his fabrication: "Professor Snape gave me more homework than anyone else and made me do his chores. God knows, I'm really not smart, and I was always terrified. Do you know what it's like to do chores in front of a teacher all day?"

"I really don't know what to do!"

Myrtle was stunned: "I don't know, I don't know. I've heard of you, Prince. I heard someone say that the Slytherin prefects like you, and I thought you had..."

Huh? Marcus? What kind of weird pairing is this?

Praris interrupted her, sobbing, "Look! People are still spreading rumors about me! All I wanted was a friend! Someone's even saying I like the prefect! I can't live anymore!"

"No!" Myrtle reached out to stop her, but Praris passed right through her.

Praris felt a chill run down her spine, and the atmosphere became even more palpable: "Just let me die! I've been at Hogwarts for two years and haven't made a single friend!"

“I can be your friend!” Myrtle blurted out. “If you don’t mind, you know I’m often here, in the restroom. Peeves hates me for my acne, and the students laugh at me for crying all the time…”

Praris said emotionally, "Am I not a crybaby too? We're the same."

“I’m so happy! I’ve never been so happy since I died. I have a friend.” Myrtle twirled in the air. “What were you doing here all this time? I know. Because of me, no one wants to come here anymore.”

“I angered Millison,” Praris said, head bowed. “You know, she doesn’t like me. Now that Mrs. Lawrence is in trouble, she’s worried about her Nina. I think if I knew why, I could get her to forgive me.”

After saying that, Praris looked up at Myrtle: "No need now, I already have a friend. It's you, Myrtle."

Prarese felt a pang of conscience; she had been deceiving a lonely female student.

She initially intended to ask directly, but Myrtle kept crying and couldn't answer the question.

Now that Myrtle can speak properly, Praris doesn't want to ask anymore. She'd rather find the answer herself than hurt the poor girl any further.

She vowed to visit Myrtle more often in the future, out of compassion for Myrtle's loneliness.

Myrtle, however, said something unexpected: "No, Prince, may I call you Praris? Ghost friends and real friends are not the same. I can be your ghost friend, but you should have your own human friends."

“Of course, you can call me Pray,” Pray said.

Myrtle sobbed, “Play, ask away! If this useless crybaby can offer you even the slightest bit of help.”

Praris's conscience was even more tormented.

“Did you see anyone around here last night? Mrs. Lorris had her accident right at the door,” Praris said.

Myrtle immediately burst into tears: "I don't know! I didn't see anything! Mischief was mocking me, and I couldn't take it anymore. So I ran back to end it all, but I... but I..."

But she was already dead.

Praris said in a low voice, "Perhaps you want me to teach Peeves a lesson. You know, I'm a Slytherin. I know some not-so-good spells."

"No, I dare not, no!" Myrtle cried again, turning to run back to the toilet.

Praris quickly stopped her: "Myrtle, my friend, I have a question."

Praris tried to beautify her question to make Myrtle feel better.

“Myrtle, were you born into a wizarding family? I’m by no means a pure-blood believer, but you know I’m very worried about you. Everyone’s talking about the Slytherin heir, and I’m afraid something might happen to you.”

Myrtle broke down in tears: "Why did it take until I died for anyone to care about me and love me? Pry, why did you only come to me as a friend so late? Myrtle is a Muggle child, and so many people look down on me, is it because I'm a Muggle child!"

Before Myrtle could finish speaking, she jumped into the toilet with a splash, and the water overflowed wildly—it was Myrtle's sorrowful tears.

Praris called out, "I'll come back to you again, Myrtle!"

Fortunately, she ran fast enough and wasn't flooded by the water in the bathroom.

Praris walked out of the bathroom, shook the soles of his shoes, and thought as he walked.

It is no coincidence that Myrtle was a wizard from a Muggle family.

But Myrtle died more than forty years ago. If the previous heir had caused trouble at the school at that time, that heir would be in his fifties or sixties now.

While it's possible that the current heirs are the grandchildren of the previous heir, why didn't the previous heir's sons and daughters take any action? Or rather, why didn't they act last year?

Unless, of course, there are always descendants of Slytherin, but whether they can become heirs requires a certain opportunity. Not every descendant of Slytherin can become an heir.

And that puddle of water, it's just so illogical.

Praris's shoes left wet footprints as they walked down the corridor.

There wasn't enough water; it wasn't overflowing from the washroom, but it wasn't a small amount either, unlike the water that would be carried out of the washroom.

Furthermore, if the heir killed Myrtle, why didn't he target the Muggle and the half-blood wizard, but instead went after a cat?

Praris quickly turned around and ran in one direction.

A red-haired girl ran off like the wind, and Praris couldn't keep up with her at all.

Prarese gasped for breath, thinking: Redhead? Weasley? Ginny Weasley?

Why did she come here? Was she worried about her brother?

It is well known that criminals like to return to the crime scene. Some want to savor their "achievements," some want to cover up the traces they left behind, and some want to know if others have discovered that they did it.

But Ginny Weasley is a Gryffindor. Just think how absurd it is that the heir to Slytherin is a little Gryffindor girl?

However, it cannot be ruled out that she was too young to act ruthlessly. Therefore, Mrs. Lorris did not die.

This is even stranger! If Ginny is the heir, what about all her older brothers? Slytherin chose a little girl instead of her mature brothers.

If Prarese were to see, Percy Weasley would be more than willing; he's happy to have more power and isn't stupid.

But the Weasleys were at most in their forties, and they probably weren't even born when Myrtle died.

Praris calmed his racing heart and turned to walk back to his dormitory.

This exploration didn't bring her any answers; it only created more mysteries. More importantly, she still couldn't determine whether the heir only attacked Squibs and Muggle-born wizards, or also half-bloods.

Now it seems that her three books on dark magic are somewhat useful; she needs to strengthen her ability to resist.

Chapter 30 Eavesdropping and Approval Notes

Praris spent several days reading through the three books, not just reading them, but digesting all the knowledge to guard against the malice lurking in the shadows.

It wasn't until the shadow of danger loomed over her that she realized how unwilling she was to face death.

She had so many things left undone. She had never met Sylvia Prince and didn't know why she had abandoned her and killed her husband.

She hadn't graduated yet and hadn't seen the world outside of England. She had so many books she hadn't read, so much knowledge she hadn't acquired, and her friends Millison and Pansy, Miss Winnie, Mrs. Prie, and Tom from Diagon Alley, and her caring Mrs. Sprout and Professor Snape (though he himself might not have thought so).
