Praris was also somewhat puzzled by Anna's behavior. She had expected Anna to refuse to speak well of the Minister of Magic, but she hadn't anticipated that the witch would be so determined to die.
Ravenclaw... Winnie's obsession with spells, Quirrell's supposed desire to prove his worth through practice, Lockhart's thirst for attention and fame, and Lovegood's belief in some strange rumors.
What distinguishes one person from another is what they care about. A Ravenclaw with a strong personality is often more obsessive than the average person.
Prarese even speculated that Ravenclaw's ability to achieve breakthroughs in a particular field often stemmed from this kind of dedication.
Most people have difficulty concentrating on one thing; they often want this and that. Praris himself is like that; even though he's not good at flying at all, he'll still spend time practicing for some purpose.
To achieve their goals, Ravenclaws are willing to sit on the sidelines and disregard the opinions of others.
“I understand.” Praris waved the piece of paper in his hand. “Anna is a reporter, and she probably became a sports reporter for more than just because she likes Quidditch.”
"Just like when she publicly challenged the Ministry of Magic, she was unwilling to lie to the public, believing that it would betray her ideals. Perhaps she hoped to achieve her professional ideals in this way, just like a hero who knows it is impossible but still insists on saying those extreme things."
This is the unique tenacity of the Ravenclaws, contrary to their reputation for intelligence, yet admirable nonetheless.
“I don’t care about her ideals or anything like that!” Pansy said with a dark face. “Let her die if she wants, but what about Millison?”
Praris fell silent.
Daphne, arms crossed, paced back and forth on the left side of the room, her eyes lifeless. Pansy, constantly running her fingers through her hair, paced back and forth on the right side of the room, sighing occasionally.
"Alright, alright, stop sighing!" Daphne said disdainfully. "Your sighs are blowing away all our good luck—Plares, do you have any good ideas?"
Staying at Hogwarts is too limiting. Praris has too little room to maneuver, and Stella's message is too cryptic, offering almost no value other than the result... Wait a minute, perhaps the information is on these two pieces of paper.
The person who mediated between the nobility and the common people, and who had been constantly persuading Coriolanus, was the senator Menenes. Menenes had always admired Coriolanus, was his loyal friend, and was shrewd and tactful.
Given Stella's personality, since she has given her these two pieces of paper, she will definitely make the most of them.
In the events that unfold, Mininese keeps trying to persuade Coriolanus, though to no avail.
Praris didn't think Stella would speak as kindly to Anna, this "Coriolanus," as Minines did, let alone be a loyal friend!
If Stella is referring to Anna as Coriolanus, then her adversaries are herself, the "tribunal of the common people," and the common people's "Ministry of Magic" that she represents.
—Isn't this completely reversed?
Therefore, it can be inferred that the "Minnes" who played the role of mediator was undoubtedly... Becky Burst, who returned home with Milison! She was the shrewd and tactful friend who appreciated Anna.
“There’s no need to worry,” Praris said calmly. “I just said that someone advised the hero not to be too extreme, and I think that person is Aunt Becky.”
Daphne and Pansy looked at each other, seeing confusion on each other's faces, unable to understand how the conversation had turned to Aunt Becky.
“You’ve met Stella,” Praris said with certainty. “You’ve also seen what kind of person she is in private, haven’t you? If Anna doesn’t cooperate, Stella will at most bring up Milison, but she will never try to persuade both sides like the characters in the show.”
Daphne suddenly realized: "So, it was Aunt Becky who was trying to persuade both sides. Then why don't we need to worry?"
“Yes, yes!” Pansy said, “That way, Milison will at most know that his aunt’s persuasion failed!”
Praris said confidently again, "If persuasion fails, regardless of what Anna said, Aunt Becky will definitely add fuel to the fire and demand that Millison return to the country in Anna's name."
Becky could not possibly have returned to England voluntarily; she would have avoided it like the plague! The reason that prompted Becky to return home must have been Millison.
Her persuasion of Anna may have been partly for Anna's own good, but it certainly also included the hope of successfully persuading her to bring her niece back to Brazil.
Now that the plan to rescue Anna has fallen through, Becky won't just let it go like that; she'll at least have to coax Millison back home.
"Ah! With Lopez choosing his own death, what's the point of Milison staying in England?" Pansy clapped her hands happily. "She can go back to Brazil right now. That wretched Milison, making us worry about her for so long!"
Praris sighed, "I'm afraid Millie won't listen and still won't want to leave."
But in this situation, there's not much that can be done. Anna won't leave, Milison won't leave, but Anna is determined to die—it's a dilemma.
In any case, trapped at school, they had no better option than to try to find out what was going on during the Easter holidays.
On the other hand, Nawei's situation was extremely dire.
Some of the persecuted students chose to hide in the Room of Requirement, but Neville was unable to leave, making it difficult for him to contact Praris.
Prareas hadn't given them much medicine last time, and she'd been frequently taken away by Snape lately, so she hardly ever provided any medicine to the DA. Fortunately, Aberforth would feed them and occasionally give them some potions.
Ginny, looking distressed, said to Neville, "You think...it's her, isn't it?"
"You doubt her?" Neville immediately denied it. "No, she wouldn't, otherwise we would be finished long ago!"
“I’m afraid she’ll be threatened!” Ginny glared at Neville. “What do you take me for?”
Neville scratched his head sheepishly: "Sorry, Ginny..."
“But Snape was pretty good to both her and Malfoy, wasn’t he?” Ginny pouted. “Maybe I’m overthinking it.”
“You’re overthinking it.” Neville tried to recall. “I think Snape is using her to do his bidding! Have you forgotten? I’ve only been here for a little over a week, and her hand was injured not long ago!”
Neville said bitterly, "If Snape had really been good to her, he wouldn't have treated her like this! For people like them, isn't a clever mind and skillful hands the most important thing?"
Ginny looked surprised.
Yes, she's been causing trouble everywhere lately, I've almost forgotten about this! The frequency with which Praris takes leave shows she's not being treated like a student at all; it's almost as busy as her father is during emergencies!
"Damn it!" Ginny said angrily, "I'm going to make things difficult for them! Just wait, I'll bring a few people and tear down all of Snape's stupid school rules!"
Snape didn't care whether the school rules were pried off or not; Filch would just put them back on anyway.
Now, what he cares about is Praris's grand plan—this girl says she's going to scheme against Voldemort!
Snape, his face grim, demanded of her, "When did you find out about this?"
“That’s not important.” Praris remained calm and composed. “Sir, as long as he has one Horcrux, my plan will work. Inform Dumbledore, and I will go to see the Dark Lord.”
“Miss, you are plotting against one of the most fearsome dark wizards of the last few decades!” Snape warned Praliss sternly, his voice icy. “If he finds out, even if he only suspects you of knowing about Horcruxes, it will be enough to kill you!”
Praris remained calm.
Before coming, she had already thought it through and made all the preparations.
Frankly, the only way for everyone, whether it's Milison, Winnie, or Priscilla, to survive peacefully is for Voldemort to die.
“The Dark Lord will definitely be suspicious,” Praris said. “If he isn’t suspicious, I’m more afraid there’s some conspiracy involved.”
“Sir, only those with a guilty conscience would be afraid and suspicious, and would try to explain why they thought of these things and why they would make such a suggestion.”
"For someone like me who is purely pursuing more powerful potions, isn't it normal to have any creative ideas? The truth is, there was no reason, I just had a flash of inspiration."
Prarese spoke frankly; it was indeed a flash of inspiration, but something else flashed through her mind afterward.
As for what flashed again? Never mind!
Please, why are you even picking and choosing the free gift? Just take it if it's given to you!
Snape rested his elbows on the table, raised his arms, interlocked his fingers into fists, and rested his forehead on his fists.
He must think this through carefully.
Snape believes he bears the majority of the responsibility for Prader's current predicament. It was he, the despicable penitent, who had undue influence, leading him to cross paths with the child and ultimately altering her fate.
Snape's entire life was devoid of family ties; everyone associated with him suffered misfortune. Irene was unhappy, Tobias and Ryan were unimportant, Lily died young, Sylvia became a living dead, and now... the wheel of fate has quietly turned towards Praris.
Lily wasn't related to him by blood, but their years of affection made her more than family to him. He couldn't wait until Praris was dead to hypocritically repent for his sins. What would be the point?
Well, Snape knew it was pointless. Everything he did after Lily's death was meaningless to her. Even his best efforts to protect Harry over the years weren't enough to atone for his mistakes.
The mistake has been made, and it should not be repeated... Snape opened his eyes and looked up at Prareus standing in front of him: "I will not allow it."
Once the decision was made, everything else became easier. Snape looked impatient: "Alright, that's enough. You will continue to obey the Dark Lord's demands until it's all over—that's it."
Before everything is over, Voldemort certainly won't want Praris to die. After everything is over, neither Voldemort nor the Order of the Phoenix will make things difficult for Praris. Praris has no need to take any unnecessary actions or risks.
"Why?" Praris asked, puzzled. "You see it's a good method, don't you? How can we be sure other methods will work until the Dark Lord is defeated? One more of me won't make a difference, but what if one less of me really makes a difference?"
All the preparations before the war were like washing clothes in a dark room; everyone could only keep scrubbing, but no one knew whether they were getting them clean or not.
The true test of results will come when the war begins. Under the sun, it will be clear who humbly says "I've made a fool of myself" and who has truly made a fool of themselves.
“Prareth, you’ve done enough,” Snape said. “Look at yourself—Slytherin doesn’t need another ghost! If you have too much time on your hands, go to sleep. Don’t be so hard on yourself that you don’t even have the energy to let me know.”
Prareas discovered that Professor Snape had no intention of explaining his reasons for refusing; he simply refused.
Normally, if Professor Snape intended to speak reasonably, he would point out errors directly and logically before resorting to sarcasm, rather than finding various untenable reasons as he did today.
Chapter 285 The Theory of the Soul Pinecone
“The temporary fatigue now is for long-term happiness,” Praris said without backing down. “I would rather be tired now, even more tired, than passively accept a cruel ending.”
Her words were enticing: "Sir, this is a good idea; our efforts will be rewarded accordingly."
Unfortunately, Snape knew exactly what his purpose was, and Prarese's words were like dancing in front of a blind man—completely ineffective.
Snape lowered his voice, stepped forward, and said sarcastically, "Rewards? Miss, I'll be cleaning up your corpse before I get any rewards! This is the Dark Lord, not some random fool. Do you think past successes mean future good fortune?"
"No, no. The moment you slip up, you'll be more miserable than your mother before you even feel the pain! Listen, war isn't for students. Don't be foolish enough to try and be a savior. All you need to do is survive, nothing more."
Snape had intended to criticize Prarese from a superior position, but he discovered how much taller the girl had grown, with a difference of less than twenty centimeters between them. He could only rely on intimidation to make Prarese back down.
Prareas looked up at Snape, his tone steady: "Sir, this war is relevant to every wizard in England. I was already involved when I entered Hogwarts."
“When the Dark Lord conceived the idea of turning me into a Death Eater, I was no longer ‘safe.’ You know better than I do that I would not have gotten away with it, not even if my research results were slightly less than what he wanted.”
"Right now, the Dark Lord treats me somewhat well and occasionally grants my requests, simply because he can consistently produce what he wants. If I fail to do so, my fate will be far worse than Lucius Malfoy's."
Snape fell silent. He wasn't unaware of this, but he believed that Prares could easily stall, using potions that yielded a little progress each time to get through the mission, until Dumbledore initiated the process.
This sounds difficult, but Snape believes he can control the pace and help Prarese get by.
“Sir, I am not Potter, nor do I rely on courage or luck.” Praris pointed to his head. “I rely on this. You taught me potions, and now I am turning them into weapons. Isn’t that something to be proud of?”
She softened her tone, but her words became even sharper: "You want to protect me, just like you drove Sylvia away from the battlefield in the past, right? But where is she now? Does running away really bring safety?"
These words struck Snape with a sharp pain, not only regarding Sylvia, but also regarding Lily... Lily had gone into hiding, but it was he who had personally sent Lily and her family to the guillotine.
Snape's expression grew increasingly grim; his face darkened, and he was on the verge of exploding with anger.
“Sir, I know you mean well.” Praris’s gaze was gentle, but his tone was firm. “Whether for your sake or for my own, we must defeat the Dark Lord. I am the only one who can sabotage him from within; only I can make him willingly drink the ‘poison’.”
“Abandoning this plan means putting all our bets on Harry alone, betting that he can accomplish those nearly impossible tasks, at the cost of all the lives we want to protect. Isn’t that riskier than my plan?”
Prarese gave Snape a reassuring smile, as if to tell the elder that he had grown up, had sufficient judgment, and was capable of taking responsibility for his own life.
But Snape didn't laugh. He gave Prareas a cold glare, then turned away, his cloak billowing like a black cloud.
After a long silence—a silence as oppressive and suffocating as the suffering they had endured—Snape finally spoke: “...you will kill us all.”
What he said was very unpleasant.
Then, with his back to Praris, Snape said, in his characteristic tone, word by word, "Your plans, your recipes, every step and every ingredient must first be examined by me. Every report you give must first be given to me, and every word you utter must first be approved by me."
