Reason told her that the Order of the Phoenix wouldn't kill indiscriminately, and Professor Snape would look after Draco. Reason told her that the Death Eaters wouldn't kill their own people; the Malfoys' status had declined, but they would at least fear her retaliation. Reason told her that even the most unfortunate person could be in peak condition after drinking a whole bottle of Felix Felicis, let alone a twelve-hour dose!
But what if? On the battlefield, swords and spears have no eyes; she left Draco alone in Hogwarts Castle, where even Narcissa worried about his life, yet she coldly and heartlessly left him. What if Draco drank too much Felix Felicis and became reckless?
Such a sweet dilemma, if spoken aloud, would surely elicit eye-rolls. But Praris simply listed every possibility and felt anxious about every single one.
In that instant, Praris understood Narcissa's glance. Seeing Narcissa reminded him of Draco, whose fate was unknown. And seeing himself, Narcissa's thoughts were no different.
"This is what you wanted!" Hagrid noticed Praderne had been secretly watching him. He glared at her and snapped her back to reality, "You served Voldemort faithfully, betrayed Harry, and were single-mindedly trying to kill him. Now you've succeeded!"
“Hmm,” Praris responded calmly.
She certainly wouldn't feel guilty about what she didn't do.
This utterly shameless behavior only fueled the anger of the victim's family, who hurled even more vile insults at Praris and the other Death Eaters, including the centaurs in the forest.
"It's a shame," Yaxley said coolly. "Porter delivered himself to your doorstep; otherwise, you would have deserve some credit as well."
Praris knew what the Death Eater was thinking.
The Dark Lord won, Snape didn't return, and his position will eventually be filled by someone, presumably Prader, who can perfectly replace Snape. As for Axley, although he controls the Ministry of Magic, he was just punished because of Sylvia's affair, so he's unlikely to be highly regarded.
Praris didn't even look at him, and said in a relaxed and casual tone, "Yaxley, why do you look so pale? Did you get injured by the Order of the Phoenix? Don't be shy, if you need any healing potions after the battle, come to me."
Yaxley was mocked by Praris and, feeling humiliated, turned away angrily.
Praris saw the centaurs, probably the same centaurs the female centaurs had mentioned, including Bain. They lowered their heads silently upon hearing the news of Harry's death.
Finally, the group arrived at the lawn outside the castle.
The castle gates were packed with people. All the teachers and students, members of the Order of the Phoenix, and Dumbledore's helpers had gathered there: the four Headmasters, Sinestadt and other professors, students Ron, Luna, Ernie, and Astoria, members of the Order of the Phoenix such as Sirius and Winnie, Hogwarts staff such as Madam Pomfrey, the Scamander family, and the dragon Bosu... and so on.
Voldemort gently beckoned to Hagrid, ordering him to step forward and display Harry's body.
Upon seeing Professor McGonagall and the others, Hagrid's tears, which he had managed to hold back, burst forth like a flood: "Harry... Harry... he..."
Professor McGonagall seemed to realize something; her eyes widened, and she screamed wildly, eliciting a burst of Bella's delighted laughter.
"Hold it in!" Praris coldly scolded Hagrid in a low voice. "What are you crying for? You're not the first one today."
Harry couldn't help but squint his eyes a crack before closing them again—he knew it wasn't the right time yet, and he couldn't let his and Dumbledore's sacrifices go to waste.
Upon hearing Praris's words, Hagrid glared at her with bloodshot eyes as if he wanted to devour her, while Voldemort smiled with satisfaction: "Yes, that's right, this isn't the first one today."
Then everyone noticed the hooded young witch standing beside Voldemort, the friend who had helped them and whom they trusted. Not long ago, they had heard Ron, Hermione, Ginny, and Neville talk about how devotedly this girl had helped them.
Ron, Hermione, and Ginny cried, screamed, and cursed as they tried to rush out like madmen, but even more desperate than them was Sirius Black, who was like a barking wild dog, and Kingsley, Arthur, and Theseus almost couldn't hold him back.
From within the crowd, Theseus's voice could be faintly heard: "Merlin, thank goodness I tamed a dragon!"
"Silence!" Voldemort shouted, and after a silence spell, everyone was forced to fall silent. "Alright, alright, it's time to end this. Put him at my feet, Hagrid—he only deserves to stay here."
Hagrid, with Voldemort pointing his wand at him, was forced to let Harry leave his arms. He looked like a father whose child had been taken away, his snot and tears covering his messy beard.
“Take a good look—” Voldemort spread his arms and began his performance as he circled Harry triumphantly. “Harry Potter is dead. He was never a savior. He was just a little boy deceived by Dumbledore’s lies!”
"He defeated you!" Surprisingly, Ron was the first to break Voldemort's spell, roaring as he shouted.
Ron was right. Harry defeated Voldemort. He sacrificed himself to destroy the last Horcrux, making Voldemort a truly mortal being. Only Harry could do that; no one else could.
Professor Snape once said that Dumbledore was good at making unwise choices.
Prareas believed that true Gryffindors were adept at making unwise choices, which required a mental will stronger than wisdom.
With a bang, everyone was forced into silence again. Voldemort drawled, "You're wrong. He was caught while trying to escape..."
Caught off guard, a figure rushed out, attempting to attack Voldemort but was easily captured—it was Neville, who roared and struggled, shouting, "Harry will not yield! Hogwarts will not yield! The Order of the Phoenix will not yield! Dumbledore's Army will not yield!"
As if summoned by some unseen force, the crowd surged forward fearlessly toward the Death Eaters. In the chaos, before Harry could even stand up, he was grabbed by a hand and Apparated away from his spot.
"Praris!" Harry exclaimed in surprise.
Praris pulled the last potion from his pocket, shoved it into his hand, and then conjured a familiar golden butterfly with a flick of his wand: "It will take you to the Black... Voldemort... Drink the potion, stay in top shape! I've wanted to say this for a while—kill Voldemort!"
Harry nodded, put on his invisibility cloak, and rushed into the crowd.
A butterfly cannot fly across the ocean, but it can fly over crowds, follow scents, and find the person people are determined to find.
Praris knew she no longer needed to hide!
She charged into the crowd. Both the DA and the Death Eaters knew how powerful she was. The former immediately became alert, while the latter were overjoyed. However, the next second, she was slammed against the wall by a spell. The wall writhed rapidly, and Rol was pinned into it by Praris, leaving only a dumbfounded head!
"You...you...you—" Anthony was dumbfounded. "He...he...he—"
"Stop talking nonsense!" Praris snapped, "Get to work!"
Even with his surprise, Anthony Goldstein knew that Praderes Prince had betrayed Voldemort and sided with them! No, perhaps she had never been on Voldemort's side at all—the thought filled Anthony with immense joy!
Being by Praris's side is extremely reassuring; she can launch powerful attacks while maintaining multiple armored spells.
Praris was getting a little annoyed. The crowd was too mixed up, and she couldn't use a wide-range, high-intensity attack, such as creating a mud pit to sink everyone in and then flattening it, planting Death Eaters in the ground, or simply creating a tornado to lift everyone into the air and then bring them down.
She waved her wand, and a series of "bangs" echoed as all the windows shattered. The wind howled in from outside the castle, whipping up shards of glass that coalesced into a glass vortex that precisely sliced into every vulnerable spot on every Death Eater except for their masked faces, eliciting screams of agony.
Identifying Death Eaters was a piece of cake for Praris, after all, she was a Death Eater herself!
At this point, in order to control the glass wind dragon and prevent it from harming her own people, Praris could no longer maintain the Ironclad Charm. However, Anthony and the other DAs who rushed over understood and successively cast protective spells on Praris to ensure her safety.
"Wow—" Cho exclaimed in surprise to Cedric as she waved her wand, "Cedric, this looks like a Chinese dragon (loong)!"
“Where’s Professor Snape!” Prareus shouted to them in one breath, “And Winnie, Ms. Priscilla, Draco, Millison, and Astoria!”
"It's too chaotic, we didn't notice!" Cedric shouted. "Professor Snape led a group to protect the professors and students who weren't good at fighting but didn't want to leave, as well as the healers and the wounded!"
All the wounded were moved to the Astronomy Tower. Snape decisively dismantled a section of the thousand-year-old staircase to prevent the Death Eaters from easily climbing up there.
“Professor Snape!” Filch exclaimed, “This is school property!”
“Students, professors, and janitors are Hogwarts’ most important assets,” Snape said coldly. “Filch, you can go down and join it, I won’t stop you.”
"Alright!" Mrs. Pomfrey called out, trying to smooth things over. "Argus, come and help me!"
"Professor Snape!" Lavender exclaimed urgently, "I want to help the others too! A fight is about to break out!"
Snape stared at her with a terrifying look, making Lavender shrink back. Seeing this, Meryl beckoned to Lavender: "Come here!"
Lavender walked over in a daze, and Meryl gestured for her to squat down, so she squatted down and moved over.
Lavender looked down and saw Death Eaters rushing up, but they were tricked by the illusionary magic that Professor Snape had set up. One by one, they rushed up the stairs and then fell straight down.
At that moment, a Death Eater noticed the anomaly and Apparated to the platform at the broken end of the stairs. Meryl immediately shouted, "Faint!"
"what--"
One of the Death Eaters was sent flying, plummeting from the height of the Astronomy Tower, his screams echoing throughout the castle.
Meryl chuckled and said to Lavender, "Fun, isn't it? Like playing pool! Making the enemy suffer doesn't necessarily require a reckless charge, does it?"
Lavender gaped, as if she had opened the door to a new world. So this was the kind of happiness that the treacherous Slytherin were experiencing?
The DA, the Order of the Phoenix, and the Death Eaters in the foyer were also greatly astonished. They only knew that Praris had some skills, but they did not expect her to be so capable.
Prareas brandished her glass dragon, slicing people like beef jerky—note, "slice" is a verb. The Death Eaters managed to interrupt her, but quickly realized it was better to let her continue slicing people.
Chapter 306 Final Battle 2
The wind dragon dissipated, and the stained glass windows clattered to the ground. The Death Eaters in the foyer finally shattered the bat-like monster that had been "biting" people everywhere, and breathed a sigh of relief.
But they soon discovered that Praris Prince had been relatively polite before. Destroying her wind dragon was tantamount to giving her double the reason to unleash even more disgusting magic.
Praris raised his wand, and bursts of red-tipped, green-based flower-shaped flames burst forth in the sky, rapidly descending upon the crowd.
A Death Eater in the crowd shouted, "Get out of the way! It's poisonous!"
Yoho!
Praris couldn't help but glance at him sideways. He had good taste!
Or perhaps... this is someone she beat up?
Unfortunately, Praris's magic has improved, and it's no longer what it was a few years ago.
The flower-shaped flames twisted in the air, transforming into streaks of fiery ash snakes, which seemed to have eyes, relentlessly pursuing the wounded Death Eaters and igniting their magical robes.
The Death Eaters instinctively tried to extinguish the flames, only to find that they were impossible to put out. Once the magic robes were ignited, the flames were like ash snakes touching wood, capable of burning down an entire house—no, an entire person.
The Death Eaters had to choose between tearing off their robes to reveal their identities or enduring the burning. However, the latter was not a wise choice either. When the flames burned the flesh cut open by the wind dragon, they would feel a tingling and itchy sensation, followed by dizziness and weakness in their limbs.
After being paralyzed by the transformed Gloriosa flames, the Death Eaters in the foyer were powerless against the DA and other Guardians and were subdued one by one by the students.
Seeing that the crowd was in control, Praris pushed through the crowd and ran into the auditorium.
The hall was packed with people, but it was completely silent. Everyone stood along the walls, leaving the middle open space—where Harry and Voldemort faced off.
"Everyone saw it, I killed him!" Voldemort shouted contemptuously. "I crushed that old bird that hid in the darkness like a bat with my own hands! Albus Dumbledore, who feared me and clung to life like the most despicable coward, finally died by my hand! His body was devoured by wild beasts in the Forbidden Forest! He will never return!"
“Yes, Dumbledore is dead,” Harry said calmly. “But you’re very wrong. You’ve only defeated an old man who chose to step forward and take responsibility.”
“Dumbledore has long lost his power. He stood up to you not because he could win, but because he had to. He knew he would die, but he wasn’t afraid of death, and that—is a power you’ll never understand,” Harry shouted. “You think you’ve conquered a powerful opponent? No, you’ve only fulfilled the final glory of a great wizard!”
"What childish and laughable nonsense!" Voldemort sneered. "Are you saying that he could live without wanting to die, and that he came before me because he wanted to die, rather than being forced by my power?"
"You could say that."
A voice came from the crowd.
The crowd parted automatically, revealing the young witch standing at the entrance to the hall. She looked so calm, as if what she was saying was nothing out of the ordinary.
"Harry is right," Praris said coldly, "but he missed a crucial part. The one who let your so-called 'coward' live so long—that's me."
Her appearance and speech caused a momentary blank on the faces of all the Death Eaters and Voldemort present.
“I witnessed it all,” Praris said in a calm and clear tone. “It wasn’t a matter of mere survival, but a rather great and painful process. Dumbledore endured all that suffering, endured being a wizard who walked in ‘shackles,’ a wizard who was bound by constraints, all for… in his words, for the lives of many more people.”
“Harry, Dumbledore has always been with you, never left. He has secretly saved you and many wizards from Muggle families on numerous occasions, even if you did not know it was him, even if it meant that he had to ask me for help again.”
Harry looked at Praris in surprise. Dumbledore had told him a lot, but never mentioned his sacrifices and the pain he had endured.
And what about Prarese herself? Saving a life is no easy task. How much hardship did she endure, shuttling between Dumbledore and Voldemort?
Voldemort's gaze fell on Praris, and he felt as if he were being stared at by a snake, but Praris was not afraid.
Voldemort sneered: "So, Praris, you're Dumbledore's spy? This—great wizard—tricked a student who hadn't even graduated into becoming a Death Eater, in order to achieve his so-called scheme."
“You’re wrong again,” Prarese said calmly. “I’ve never been one of Dumbledore’s people, nor one of yours. I’ve wanted to say this for a long time: we—Professor Snape and I—are only true to ourselves, true to the choices we make.”
"What makes you have such a fantasy? That after humiliating my dignity, oppressing my family, and even killing my mother, I would still be loyal to you?"
