Praris understood the witches who knocked on her door; each one of them acted out of love for her. Whatever the future held, she was certain of her happiness at that moment.
Its daybreak.
The entire manor came alive early in the morning.
Narcissa was running mad at Cookie, finding fault with everything. Meanwhile, Priscilla's mother personally did Priscilla's makeup, braided her hair, and put on her headdress, among other things.
“Darling, you know, that’s how it’s traditionally done.” Priscilla’s mother was busy talking and talking, “The bride needs some new ones, some old ones, some borrowed ones, and some blue ones.”
Praliss's wedding dress was altered by Priscilla's mother, her tiara was newly made by Draco with added sapphires, and her necklace was borrowed from Stella's aunt Violet... and there was also a bronze nut that had to be placed in her shoe, supposedly to ward off poverty.
Narcissa had previously expressed her disdain for this last bad habit, deeming it utterly impossible. With her chin held high, she declared, "Our wealth is enough for the two of them to live on for a lifetime!"
Narcissa said this, but did not stop Prim from doing so, because she also had her own requirements—she was determined that the wedding must be held on Wednesday.
“And this,” Prarese said suddenly, then took a pair of long gloves from the drawer. “This is a gift from Professor Snape.”
These are a pair of white gloves with silver threads. The silver threads on the gloves are made from the eggshells of avian snakes—avian snake eggshells look like the purest and softest silver.
It was hard to imagine that Snape would give a gift to anyone. Some people in the room were surprised because they didn't know the situation, but Narcissa and Purnell, who were arguing about Prader's makeup, didn't have any objections.
After dealing with Pralis, the two mothers went to deal with Draco, leaving the girls to keep her company.
Astoria murmured to herself, "You are so beautiful, Praris."
“Every girl is most beautiful on her wedding day,” Praris said with a smile. “When you get married, you must invite me and Draco.”
“Absolutely!” Astoria raised her hand and swore, “Even my sister couldn’t stop us!”
"Is your sister coming?" Praris suddenly asked.
Pansy and Millison jolted awake, instantly becoming alert. They knew that although Praris seemed indifferent, she was still thinking about Daphne.
Astoria moved her lips, seemingly unsure of what to say.
“Never mind,” Praris said again. “It’s alright.”
“It’s related,” Astoria said with a worried look. “Your invitation arrived at our house a few days ago, and my sister has been making a ruckus at home for the past few days. Every time I ask her if she’s coming, she gets angry. I say if she’s not coming, she’s not coming! And she gets angry too. She’s been rummaging through drawers all day long. When I ask if I should bring her a gift, she scolds me for being nosy…”
“Thank you for telling me, Leah.” Praris smiled and shook her head. “I’m serious, it’s nothing.”
In the afternoon, all the wizard friends went out to greet the guests, leaving only Pansy and Milison to keep Praris company.
Pansy said Theodore should go out and about instead of staying home like a vampire, and added that Blaise and his mother had come along.
Praris guessed that Zabini himself was unwilling to come, but Narcissa had invited his mother, and his mother reluctantly agreed.
Millison said Lucius had hired the best band. A large number of people came to the manor, both Slytherin and Gryffindor. Narcissa arranged the two groups on either side, placing the Hufflepuffs in the middle. The specific order was: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Slytherin, Ravenclaw.
“It’s just like the Great Hall at Hogwarts!” she laughed. “We’re still Hufflepuff compared to Gryffindor!”
Pralis was almost dozing off when her mother, Priscilla, patted her on the shoulder: "Darling, Severus is here. You should get ready to leave."
She looked up in surprise and saw Severus standing there with a stern face, dressed in a brand-new black formal robe.
“I thought you wouldn’t come,” Prarese said.
Snape said calmly, "Disappointed?"
Praris thought he was talking about himself and paused for a moment.
“Dumbledore persuaded him to come.” Winnie crossed her arms and leaned against the wall in her hastily changed witch’s dress, looking quite unhappy. “I originally planned to attend with Prim, but someone came to get in the way.”
Prareas understood perfectly. He guessed that Severus had been constantly harassed by Winnie, and the only reason he had endured it until now was because it was Prareas's good day.
"Can't there be three people?" Praris looked at Prie's mother expectantly.
Ms. Prie shook her head helplessly: "Severus and I will go with you, and Pansy and Millison will follow behind."
Prarese lamented that her plan to build a home looked like it would only be halfway done.
There were staircases on both sides of the Malfoy family's hall, and Prader was led down by Mama Prie and Severus.
At this point, Priscilla's mother actually started to worry: "Severus and I... won't they talk about you behind your back?"
Snape sneered: "Who said that?"
His tone sounded like, "Let's see who dares to say that!"
“No,” Praris calmly reassured her. “After the last war, many wizards lost their parents and were accompanied by other elders or close professors.”
When they appeared at the top of the stairs, there were far more guests than expected: the DAs, Slytherin classmates, the owners of Diagon Alley, Hogwarts professors, the pure-blood allies of the Malfoy family, officials from Wizengamot and the Ministry of Magic, the healers of St. Mungo's... and all sorts of other scattered and uncategorized relatives and friends. Perhaps only Harry and Ginny's wedding could rival the grandeur before them.
The only thing that surprised her was that Daphne had come. She wasn't sitting with Praris's family and friends, but rather among a group of pure-blood Slytherins, looking up at her just like them.
Bonus Chapter: Praris's Wedding 3
Praris descended the stairs and found Draco wearing a rather ornate dark green velvet cloak, a fitted formal robe, emerald cuffs and a silver belt, black pointed leather shoes, and his hair was slicked back but not styled with hair wax, conforming to etiquette yet exuding casualness.
As she looked at Draco, Draco was also looking at her. Dumbledore couldn't help but joke, "The bride and groom only have eyes for each other; I almost can't bear to break such a beautiful moment."
The guests couldn't help but burst into laughter.
Praris remained relatively calm, while Draco was already blushing, though he didn't realize it, arrogantly raising his chin.
"Well done, ladies and gentlemen," Dumbledore said with a smile, "we have gathered here today to celebrate the union of two faithful souls."
"Draco Malfoy, do you take Prasris Prince to be your wife in this sacred wedding ceremony, to love her, to comfort her, to respect her, and to protect her, in sickness and in health, to be faithful to her until the end of your life?"
"I am willing."
"Praris Prince, do you take Draco Malfoy to be your husband in this sacred wedding night, to love him, comfort him, respect him, and protect him, in sickness and in health, to be faithful to him until the end of your life?"
"I am willing."
Dumbledore smiled and nodded, then continued, "Today, you have firmly chosen each other, and you wish your marriage to be as strong as a diamond. Please exchange your rings."
Pansy stepped forward with the ring box and opened it—she looked like she was about to cry, but she held it in.
Draco even made the wedding ring himself.
He made one pair while he was still in school. After graduation, he wasn't satisfied, so he made another pair. A month or two before his wedding, he went through all that trouble and made yet another pair.
"Stop messing around!" Pansy was exasperated. "The first pair looks better, doesn't it, Theodore?"
Theodore said, "It's no use what you say."
His point was that Draco never listens to anyone when he's making a fuss. But Draco said, "That's right, what if Pralis doesn't like it? I'll print out a few more for her to choose from."
Ultimately, Praris chose this pair of emerald rings, surrounded by a circle of small diamonds, which looked like flowers.
The newlyweds exchanged rings in Dumbledore's presence, and they could already hear someone sobbing.
"I hereby declare you two husband and wife, for life." Dumbledore smiled with satisfaction. "Blessings to you both!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Winnie raised her wand, causing twinkling lights to fall from the sky. Two rows of fireworks exploded with a bang, and the band strode in amidst the ribbons and lights, playing saxophones and drums.
Praris was pulled down by Draco, and saw the band come on stage and magically produce other instruments.
People were called to stand up without anyone noticing, and the seats disappeared, replaced by rows of grand long tables on both sides, with silver candlesticks and tableware filled with all kinds of food and drinks.
There was no dance floor in the middle of the hall like at Hogwarts ballrooms; instead, there was the same carpet covering the floor, and rainbow-colored lights overhead, making the entire hall unusually bright.
The band began to play, and Draco knelt down and extended his hand to invite her to dance the first dance. Surrounded by family and friends, the two newlyweds walked into the middle of the crowd and skillfully began to dance the waltz.
“I’m completely disoriented,” Draco muttered. “It’s so complicated. Mama Priscilla spent half an hour explaining it to me.”
Praris raised an eyebrow: "So, do you think it's worth it?"
"It's a bit too much of a bargain." Draco's lips began to twitch uncontrollably.
Praris asked with a smile, "What did you want to see me about last night?"
“I’m really worried about you.” Draco’s eyes darted around. “You’re getting married today, you must be so nervous you can’t sleep.”
"Really?" Praris smiled even more broadly. "To be honest, I was a little nervous!"
She said that, but didn't specify who was nervous.
"Don't panic, didn't I comfort you last night?" Draco said smugly. "I've attended so many relatives' weddings since I was a kid, this is nothing to me."
Prares said, "Then I'll have to rely on you later, Draco, you sociable man."
The first dance ended, and the others joined in. Prareas saw Professor Snape and Narcissa dancing, while Lucius danced with Mama Priscilla—the parents were probably taking the opportunity to chat.
Stella, dressed in a blue-green taffeta gown, was being escorted by a tall, thin old witch with sunken cheeks and sharp eyes. However, when she saw Praris and Stella, she smiled warmly and appeared extremely friendly.
“Praris, isn’t it?” The old witch spoke very slowly, each word sounding as if carefully chosen. “Little Dai asked me for my necklace, and I initially disagreed unless she was planning to get married. But if it’s you, then it’s an honor for her.”
“No, madam,” Praris said with a polite smile, “it is my honor to wear it on my wedding day. It was made for you by a fairy; who else is as fortunate as me?”
Violet was pleased with Praris's attitude. She then looked at Draco and said with emotion, "Draco has grown up and become much more mature. I almost didn't recognize you. I'll be content when Little Dalma can settle down and start a family like you two."
Stella stood behind Violet, frantically gesturing with her eyes.
“She’s already established herself, hasn’t she?” Praris rescued her senior from a predicament. “Which peer can achieve as much as Stella? The youngest Deputy Minister of Magic!”
When Stella's career was mentioned, Violet became proud of her niece and finally forgot about pressuring her to get married.
Violet, despite her advanced age, was surprisingly talkative. Prarese nudged Draco, who then chimed in, recounting the old lady's achievements in her youth and how his father had praised Violet's past policies.
After finally seeing the man off, the couple dealt with some Slytherin allies and relatives. During the war, the Slytherins had used Voldemort to climb the ranks, and now they had to pay him back. With Prasris appearing, shouldn't they take this opportunity to cultivate a relationship?
Draco knew those people were there to flatter Praris, but he also knew Praris wouldn't help them easily, so he "stepped forward" to accept their compliments so as not to annoy Praris—keep praising me, I won't help you anyway.
Of course, there were also Slytherins who remained neutral during the war and suffered no losses. Mrs. Zabini was tall and stunningly beautiful with dark skin. She always spoke with an arrogant air, but strangely, she was not unpleasant—her appearance made it easy to overlook her meanness.
The Greengrass couple came over with their two daughters to say hello. Their mother, preoccupied with Praris, the mixed-race girl, said some silly things about pure-bloods helping each other, seemingly not believing those "rumors."
“We received your wedding invitation a long time ago.” Mrs. Greengrass’s eyes, eyebrows, and mouth were all smiling. “No matter what, our whole family should come, shouldn’t we? Duffy has lived with you for seven years, and you’ve taken such good care of Leah!”
Daphne turned her head to the side, her eyes darting around.
Prarese assumed Daphne would tell her mother that she was actually of mixed race. But Mrs. Greengrass was clearly unaware of this, remaining only at the level of hearsay.
"When she heard you were getting married, Duffy spent days rummaging through the house to prepare a wedding gift for you two," Mrs. Greengrass chuckled again. "She even got angry at Leah, complaining that she was in the way of him looking for things!"
The two sisters looked to one side, both with a hint of embarrassment on their faces, clearly aware that their mother had unknowingly made a foolish mistake.
Draco was a little confused, and he blurted out, "Daphne, you're not—"
Then his wife pinched his hand, and Praris said, "Madam, thank you for telling me. You know, Daphne is always so bad at expressing her feelings... Duffy, it's really nice to know that you care about me so much."
The two families chatted for a while longer before Astoria finally found an excuse to take the Greengrass couple away.
Draco whispered, "What tricks are those sisters up to?"
