Praris couldn't help but get angry. She slapped Draco's hand away: "Watch your words! Since I've accepted Marcus and Blaise as my friends, you shouldn't talk about them like that in front of me! What if I were to criticize Crabbe and—well, what if I were to criticize Nott in front of you?"
Praris suddenly remembered that Draco himself sometimes said that Goyle and the others weren't smart enough.
Draco's answer was unexpected: "Of course you wouldn't do that. If you're going to criticize Theodore, there must be a reason why he deserves it."
"So you finally realize you're being unreasonable?" Praris raised an eyebrow.
Draco's gaze slowly shifted away...
Praris was so angry he laughed.
Seeing Praris smile, Draco's lips unconsciously curled up slightly, before quickly closing again.
“You should thank me,” Draco whispered in defense. “This is my heartfelt advice to you; you’ll only waste your time on these people.”
"Then where should I spend my time so as not to waste it? On someone as smart as you?" Praris was at a loss for words. "Ah, yes, you're the smartest, Draco. So smart that Moody got hold of you and I had to bail you out!"
Draco lowered his head somewhat guiltily, then changed the subject: "Would you like to see my research? I've created a lamp that won't be affected by the Extinguishing Curse."
Praris asked instinctively, "What materials did you use? Is it the lampshade or the lamp oil that's special?"
“It’s a lampshade; I bought the scales that the mermaid shed during her growth period,” Draco said. “Of course, there are other magic and materials too, if you’d like to see them…”
"Then this lamp is far too extravagant."
"Money is nothing, you should be concerned about my craftsmanship!"
Chapter 80 Changes
"what is this?"
Praris curiously reached out and touched it.
At first, she thought it was Hermione's SPEW badge and wondered why the Slytherins would wear it.
But when she got closer, she could see the words: "Support Cedric Diggory—a true Hogwarts hero!"
Below those words was Diggory's handsome face.
"Are you a fan of Diggory?" Prareas asked Pansy in surprise.
Pansy chuckled twice. "No, Draco did it. That bad boy, hee hee."
After she finished speaking, she pressed the badge, and the words on the badge disappeared, replaced by another line of text: "Potter Stinky Shit".
Below this line of text is a small figure with a lightning bolt on its forehead, running around inside the badge—upon closer inspection, it's being chased by a dog.
It's common knowledge that dogs really do eat poop.
Praris couldn't help but laugh at the idea, but quickly suppressed his smile: "That's so impolite."
“He’s been really creative lately.” Pansy shrugged nonchalantly. “Looks like you don’t want this, then I can wear two.”
After saying that, Pansy put both badges on her left chest. One badge played Cedric's handsome face, and the other played Potter being chased by a dog.
When Prarese got to the classroom, he noticed that every Slytherin had such a badge on their chest.
"Praris, you're not wearing the badge I made!"
Draco, with his keen eye, noticed this and exclaimed.
Pansy pointed to her chest: "Prae's here with me!"
Draco was about to say something when he realized that Potter had already arrived at the classroom door.
He whispered to Praris, "Just you wait, I'll get my revenge!"
When Potter entered, the Slytherins burst into laughter and pressed their badges.
"Ha, how amusing." Hermione's face was full of sarcasm. "How humorous!"
Draco held up the badge to Hermione: "I didn't expect you to be so interested in it. Looks like you want one too, Granger? But I wouldn't let you touch my hands, since I just washed them, right—"
Draco had his back to them, and Praris didn't hear what he said at the end; she probably just mouthed it.
Even the most brainless person standing here would know that he would never say anything nice.
Potter's face turned red with anger.
His face darkened, and he instinctively drew his wand, pointing it at Draco.
Hermione called out "Harry," seemingly hoping he would calm down.
“Alright! Come on!” Draco said cheerfully. “Hmm? Potter! I thought—you only dared to stand up for your friends when Moody was around!”
A few seconds later, Harry yelled, "Hot fire!"
Draco silently extended his left hand and tossed a spherical object out.
The ball collided with Harry's beam of light, which then turned and headed towards Goyle. However, the ball was caught off guard and hit Hermione in the face, quickly disappearing from sight.
A large, unsightly scabies appeared on Goyle's face, and he yelled, while Hermione on the other side frantically covered her mouth.
The scene became somewhat chaotic at one point.
Just then, Professor Snape's somber voice rang out: "Class time! What's all this commotion about here!"
The Slytherins were eager to defend Draco, and they started talking all at once.
But the professor simply pointed at Draco: "You say it."
Draco said slowly, "Sir, there's no doubt that Potter attacked me—"
Harry argued loudly, "No, we're dueling!"
Draco scoffed. "Sir, I don't even have a wand. How am I supposed to attack anyone? Potter, on the other hand—look at poor Goyle!"
Everyone then noticed that Draco had put his wand away sometime during the night. It seemed he had done so after throwing the ball.
Professor Snape glanced at Goyle and said calmly, "Go to the infirmary, Goyle."
Ron finally spoke, saying urgently, "No, no, no, Malfoy hit Hermione with a small ball!"
He grabbed Hermione, trying to make Snape see her condition. Hermione didn't want to, but her hands couldn't cover her increasingly long front teeth at all.
Pansy couldn't help but laugh out loud and said to Praris, "He's really something."
Snape said coldly, "To me, there's no difference. But Mr. Weasley, where's the ball you mentioned?"
Hermione ran out of the classroom crying, and Ron looked around but couldn't find Draco's "ball" for attacking.
Ultimately, Gryffindor lost fifty points, while Potter and Weasley each received a detention.
The students dispersed and took their seats.
Praris had just put down her bag when someone sat down next to her—it was Draco.
Not satisfied with that, the guy turned his back to the professor, pressed his hand on the badge on his chest, and laughed smugly.
After provoking Potter, Draco nudged her and said, as if to boast, "How was that?"
"What do you mean, how about it?" Praris asked with little interest.
Draco wasn't going to accept her lack of reaction. He said, "How did I do, Professor Praris? Not a single fingerprint."
Pralis remembered; these were the words she had said to Draco before leaving the school infirmary:
"Even if Malfoy did something, he wouldn't leave a single fingerprint."
Prareas was initially a little upset that Hermione had been accidentally injured.
Now, her attention had been successfully diverted. Draco had truly impressed her this time; he had learned from his previous mistake and perfectly avenged himself against Potter.
In the right place, at the right time, with the right helpers, in the end, not a single flaw was left.
However, Draco couldn't torment Potter for long. The frustrated Potter was eventually freed from his "warrior" identity halfway through the class.
Mr. Bagman asked the warriors to take photos and give interviews, and although Professor Snape was very reluctant, he still told Potter to get lost.
When get out of class ended, Draco began to ramble on about his brilliant ideas.
It was a magic ball he had handcrafted, encased in a unique material that could preserve magic for a short period. Upon contact with skin, it would release the magic instantly. After the magic was released, it left no trace.
Of course, it has significant flaws.
First, it's easy to release it before it's needed; second, it can't preserve very powerful magic; third, it must come into contact with human skin, even cloth is not acceptable; and fourth, it's expensive to manufacture.
However, Draco himself believed that the last one was not a defect at all.
As soon as Draco invented the magic ball, he couldn't wait to use it on Potter, but little did he know that Granger would be the one to suffer in the end.
It's unethical to say that, but Praris thinks that Draco has finally found a balance between messing with Potter and improving himself.
Porter was no longer a stumbling block to his growth, but rather a rival that helped him grow.
Meanwhile, Harry was almost driven mad by Skeeter, that woman who made up all sorts of stories, but thankfully Dumbledore appeared in time to save him.
He practically went from the tiger's den (Potions) to the wolf's den (Skeet).
The only thing that made him happy was that Sirius actually came to see him!
"Sirius, what are you doing here?" Harry asked somewhat anxiously. "I'm fine, really, look!"
Harry stepped back to let Sirius look at him: "Did I stop you from finding Peter Pettigrew?"
Sirius didn't look any better than he did a few months ago; his face still carried a melancholy gloom, the shadow cast on him by the Dementors over the past decade or so had never truly faded.
He shook his head and said to Harry, “No, Harry. Peter is a scoundrel, and I will atone for my sins against James and Lily with his life sooner or later. How can a dying man be more important than you?”
“Oh—” Harry lowered his head somewhat embarrassed.
Rita Skeeter watched the interaction between the godfather and godson from afar, a thoughtful expression on her face, while her green quill pen began to write rapidly beside her.
Sirius's arrival made Harry feel much better. He pulled Sirius aside in a corner and started rambling on about what had happened to him recently: that he hadn't signed up for the Triwizard Tournament, that Skeeter had just made up stories about him with a quill, and that Ron actually... actually didn't believe him...
Harry looked sad when Ron was mentioned.
“Harry, even the best of brothers sometimes have disagreements.” Sirius patted Harry’s head, in a way that was much like petting a cat. “Once, your father even gave me a good beating.”
"Why!" Harry asked in surprise.
“Haha, I did something really bad and almost got myself kicked out of Hogwarts, but James stopped me in time,” Sirius recalled. “He was furious, so we had a fight. Then we made up. But afterwards he said I did a great job.”
Sirius Black, with one arm around Harry, offered some terrible advice: "Don't worry, you've been through so much together, don't you understand what kind of person he is? If all else fails, just fight! Let Ron explain himself!"
When Sirius spoke of his fight with James, the melancholy on his face lessened, replaced by a deep sense of nostalgia.
