“Since you know, then I’ll have to ask you to take care of me in the meantime! Of course, I mean only Robin; Crocodile and his so-called work company have nothing to do with us!” Reina raised his glass and clinked it with Bell’s, saying.
“Since it is Your Excellency’s request, I will certainly do it!” Bell said firmly.
"Ah~ don't take it too seriously. If she clashes with you, you can still do your job, just please don't hurt her!" Reina said with a slight smile.
These words made Perona, who was standing next to her, start to have doubts again. Based on her understanding of Reina, if this Nico Robin really was his daughter, he would never say such a thing!
You know, she almost got killed by Reina just because she said a few words!
Bell breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing Reina's words. After all, Crocodile was a pirate. Although he hadn't done anything too extreme in Alabasta, their kingdom's army had actually been monitoring him all along.
If a conflict were to arise with Baroque Works in the future, they would be in a very difficult position to deal with Robin. King Cobra once said that the other party was a very dangerous person.
Now that they have Reina, they can act freely without worrying about the Whitebeard Pirates. At most, after capturing Robin, they can simply imprison her or send her to the Whitebeard Pirates.
Reina and Bell drank and chatted, while Perona, who was standing next to them, was like a ghost. Apart from occasionally drinking, she didn't say a word and just listened quietly to their conversation.
“Then, if you encounter any trouble while you are in Alabasta, you can come to the King’s Army’s camp to find me! You can even let me know in advance if you come to Alabasta in the future, and I will host a welcome dinner for you!” Bell said to Reina with a smile as he stood at the entrance of the tavern.
He had a very good impression of Reina, always feeling that Reina was very easy to talk to, not the kind of pirate who bullies the weak, and very reasonable.
"Hehe...then I'll trouble you!" Reina smiled slightly, waved to Bell, and said.
After parting ways with Bell, Reina took Perona back to the port. Because he needed to sign in every day, he would not stay overnight in the city, but would return to his "ship" every day.
"Tch~ What a hypocrite! Alabasta may be a great power, but with your status and strength, you don't need to care too much about their opinions, do you? Or is there some kind of agreement between your Whitebeard Pirates and Alabasta?" Perona said with a disdainful look on the road.
“No! You don’t understand! This country… is incredibly powerful! Their royal family… is one of the few royal families in the world that makes me feel good!” Reina shook his head and said with a light laugh.
"Heh heh heh heh... It's really laughable to hear you say that! You're a pirate!" Perona said with a light laugh.
"You'll understand why this country is so powerful later!" Reina glanced at Perona but didn't explain anything.
When the two arrived at the port, a tall woman wearing a cowboy hat was standing in front of Hardshell, teasing him.
"Huh?" Perona looked puzzled upon seeing the other person.
Despite being a turtle, Hardshell is a genuine sea creature. It doesn't accept anyone except its owner, Reina, and even Perona is completely indifferent to it.
Perona found it rather strange that a young girl was here teasing the hard shell.
"When did you arrive? Have you been waiting long?" Reina stepped forward, opened his arms with a big smile, and hugged Robin.
"Not long!" Robin said with a smile and a shake of his head after hugging Reina.
"Come on, let's go up there and talk!" Reina pulled Robin and jumped onto the hard shell's back, while Perona followed behind with a face full of curiosity.
"This is Perona, one of Moonlight Moria's subordinates! I recently had some business with her, so she's temporarily staying with me!" Upon arriving at the restaurant, Reina opened a bottle of beverage, poured Robin a glass, and then began to introduce her.
“Gecko Moria?” Robin was taken aback. She seemed to have heard the name somewhere before, but she couldn’t quite place it.
“One of the original Supernovas, he later challenged Kaido and the Beasts Pirates in the New World, but everyone except him was wiped out! After escaping, that guy was terrified, so he returned to the first half of the Grand Line and is currently hiding in the Devil's Triangle region!” Reina explained briefly.
Robin nodded, indicating that he understood.
After Reina's explanation, she remembered that Moonlight Moria had indeed risen to fame for a period of time many years ago, which was why she had heard of the name.
"Hey... Lord Moria is very powerful! He won't be scared out of his wits by that Kaido guy!" Perona shouted indignantly upon hearing Reina's words.
"Hehe...Looks like a loyal subordinate!" Robin smiled slightly and praised.
"How are you doing? Are you getting used to it here? If not, come back with me! When I left, my brother complained that I came all the way here! If you'd like, you can form your own pirate crew and operate in the New World!" Reina said with a shrug and a smile.
Robin was taken aback. She glanced at Reina, and seeing Reina nod, she knew that this woman named Perona already knew her true identity. So she smiled and said, "Please thank my godfather for me. I'm doing quite well here, much better than before. Crocodile doesn't dare to do anything to me! But Father, is there something you need this time?"
Upon hearing Robin's words, Perona, who hadn't seemed to react much before, suddenly widened her eyes in surprise.
“Father…Father? She…she…she…” Perona was so shocked she couldn’t speak.
Robin looked at Reina with a puzzled expression. Hadn't he just nodded at him? Why was Perona reacting so strongly after hearing his identity?
“Since you overheard me… to prevent you from leaking information… it seems I have no choice but to kill you!” Reina first gave Robin a reassuring look, then narrowed his eyes and said to Perona with a hint of murderous intent.
"No...don't kill me...I...I won't tell anyone!" Perona was terrified, tears streaming down her face. She hadn't meant to hear this! She hadn't expected Robin to say it so openly. By the time she realized what was happening, it was too late.
"Won't tell anyone? If Moria finds out about this... wouldn't Robin be in danger? So just in case... it's best to kill you. Dead people won't leak secrets!" Reina said with a slightly sinister expression.
"Father, why don't we just let it go? I don't think she'll talk nonsense!" Robin, though unsure of what Reina was planning, still offered his advice after receiving a look from Reina.
Sure enough, upon hearing Robin's words, Perona immediately looked at Robin with teary eyes and said gratefully, "Yes, yes, yes! I would never lie! Otherwise, may I never eat candy again!"
Perona made what she considered the cruelest vow, but Robin, standing nearby, covered her mouth and chuckled. Never eating candy for the rest of her life? What kind of vow was that?! It left her both amused and exasperated.
"Hmph! Fine, for your sake, I'll give her a chance. But if the news gets out... it won't be as simple as just candy. I'll sink you all to the bottom of the sea and feed you to the hard shells, including Moonlight Moria!" Reina said, getting up and taking Robin upstairs to talk, leaving Perona with tears streaming down her face.
After watching Reina and Robin leave, Perona gradually calmed down after a while, and began to have some doubts about Reina's words and actions.
"Father...?" After arriving on the second floor, Robin looked at Reina with some confusion. She didn't understand why Reina would do this!
"Don't you think it's fun to tease her?" Reina's answer surprised Robin; he was only doing it for fun.
"Don't worry, I'll keep her by my side and won't let her pass on the information!" Reina thought Robin was worried that Perona would reveal her background, so he explained.
Robin smiled and shook her head. She didn't care if her identity was discovered. If she hadn't been interested in what Reina said about her future companions, she wouldn't even be here. Moreover, if her background were exposed, Crocodile would only be more wary of her, not more likely to harm her.
"What is the purpose of Father's trip?" Robin asked again after they had chatted for a while.
"Hmm! I want to go to the East China Sea! There are some things... I feel like I'd be missing out if I didn't go see them!" Reina said mysteriously.
"Is there some treasure about to be revealed in the East Blue?" Reina's words made Robin think that there was some treasure in the East Blue.
“No! I’m just going to see a few people! I’ll come back to see you when I get back!” Reina shook his head and said.
Upon hearing this, Robin didn't ask any further questions. She believed that if Reina could tell her, he would. Since he didn't, it meant that she didn't need to know the answer right now.
"When will Father depart? Crocodile is quite excited about your arrival!" Robin asked with a smile.
"Hmm... stay for a few more days before you leave! You can stay and keep me company for the next few days!" Reina said with a smile.
“Okay!” Robin nodded in reply.
After the father and daughter chatted for a while, Reina suddenly stood up, frowned, and opened the door.
Outside the door, Perona, in her ghost form, was floating in the air. Clearly, she hadn't expected Reina to suddenly open the door. Startled, Perona turned and ran away.
"Heh heh... Little ghost... You've got some nerve! You actually dared to eavesdrop on our conversation?" Reina sneered and chased after them.
Chapter 238 Perona's Role
In the following period, apart from occasionally going out with Robin, Reina spent his time chatting with Robin on the "ship" and teaching her some skills.
As for Princess Perona, she hasn't dared to leave her room since being taught a lesson by Reina that day.
Of course, besides being afraid of Reina, there was also some resentment towards Reina. No one would feel good knowing that the other party was using death to tease them.
A few days later, Reina and Robin parted ways and rode in the hard shell toward Upside Down.
"Oh~ You finally decided to come out?" Not long after setting off, Perona came out carrying her burgundy parasol.
"Let me off the ship, I want to go back!" Perona said directly, her face grim.
At this moment, Reina realized that Perona had already packed all her things and was about to leave.
"Huh? Now?" Reina was taken aback and asked in surprise.
“That’s right!” Perona nodded, glared at Reina, and replied.
“Although I don’t think this is a good idea, if you insist… I can let you off the ship… please!” Reina said, reclining on the deck chair and glancing at Perona.
Looking at the sea all around, Perona felt like she'd swallowed a dead fly and yelled at Reina, "Are you just going to let me leave like this? How am I supposed to get back? Swim back?"
“Swimming? No! Have you forgotten? You're an ability user, you can't swim at all!” Reina shook his head and said.
"Since you knew that, why didn't you prepare a small boat for me? I know you have lifeboats here!" Perona retorted angrily.
"But why should I give you the boat? You're the one who wanted to get off! So figure it out yourself!" Reina put on his eye mask, preparing to sleep and rest for a while.
"I'm so angry... I don't care... I just want to go back, I can't stand being here anymore! You're so unlovable! I miss my castle! I miss Lord Moria! Waaaaaah... You're bullying me!" Finally, Perona broke down and cried.
"Okay, okay, I went a bit too far that day, but I was really just joking with you, so please forgive me!" With no other choice, Reina got up and went to Perona's side, who was crying loudly, and said softly.
During the time I spent with Perona, although she was someone who didn't distinguish between good and evil, she was definitely not a villainous person; she was more like a child who hadn't grown up.
Moreover, Reina got along with her quite well. He actually felt a little sorry for the prank that scared Perona to tears with the story of death that day, but it just so happened that Perona came to eavesdrop on his conversation with Robin that day.
Although their conversation didn't touch on anything important, it still made Reina want to kill Perona, so he chased after her and taught her a lesson.
But after reprimanding her, he recalled Perona's expression at the time. She probably didn't mean to eavesdrop on any information, but rather she had noticed Reina's prank earlier and went to confirm it.
In general, the root of the problem lies with Reina himself.
The fact that the little ghost has been locking herself in her room these past few days, and that Reina hasn't bothered her, speaks volumes.
But when Reina actually apologized to Perona, Perona felt it was all a bit unreal and stared at Reina, speechless.
"Well, since there's no boat, then... I'll wait until you get to the next island before I leave!" Perona said somewhat awkwardly after a moment of silence.
Seeing Perona looking somewhat like she was running away, Reina smiled slightly and continued to lie down to rest.
"This is the Little Garden. The environment on the island is similar to that of the ancient dinosaur era, and real dinosaurs still live there!" Reina said with a smile as they passed by the Little Garden.
"Boom boom boom..." Just as Reina finished speaking, a series of loud explosions came from the island.
"This...this is the sound a dinosaur makes?" Perona asked, somewhat surprised.
"Idiot... that's the sound of a volcano! What dinosaur would make such a sound! Besides, dinosaurs aren't the masters of this island! There are two idiotic giants on this island who have been fighting each other for nearly a hundred years! They are the true rulers of this island!" Reina rolled his eyes and said.
"Huh? They've been fighting each other for nearly a hundred years? That's a lie, isn't it? How could that be?" Perona said, not quite believing it.
Reina then told Perona the reason and details of the battle between the two giants. Perona loved listening to these strange stories, so she listened very attentively.
"So there really are guys like that!" Perona exclaimed after hearing Reina's words.
“If you’re curious, go up to the island and see for yourself!” Reina yawned and said.
"I'm not going! Didn't you say there are some really dangerous poisonous insects on the island? If I get bitten... I'm doomed!" Perona shook her head vigorously, refusing repeatedly.
"Are you stupid? Couldn't you use your ghost form? Who told you to go up there in your real body?"
"Huh? Oh right? I'll go check it out. Tell Hardshell to slow down!"
After receiving Reina's instructions, Perona ran towards her room. A moment later, in her ghost form, Perona flew towards the small garden with a strange laugh.
As for Reina, he had no interest whatsoever. He hadn't finished his work for the day, so after leaving Hardshell to wait, he started exercising on his own.
After waiting for a while, Perona, in her ghost form, slowly flew back, her face not seeming as happy as when she left.
