Now that there's a chance to show those kids what real pirates are like, and with Reina as the opponent, Zephyr is really tempted.
Chapter 88 Ohara
"Hey~ Did you hear? It seems we're going to the West Sea this time! I wonder what we're going there for!"
"I've heard that the vice-captain of the Whitebeard Pirates, the one who caused a huge disturbance at Marineford, Reyner the Red-Eyed, is currently in the West Blue. That's why our teacher is taking us there!"
"Oh? Akame Reina? Is that the pirate who brought our teacher his head back then?"
On a naval warship, a group of young people dressed in naval uniforms were gathered together, discussing something in hushed tones.
"Oh~~ Akame Reina! That's not an easy guy to deal with!" Borsalino pouted, looking like a perverted guy stalking a girl.
"Hmph, no matter who they are, if they're pirates, they should be dealt with!" Sakazuki, wearing a navy uniform and revealing his chest tattoo, replied with a serious expression.
"What are you doing? How have I taught you all? Is this ship for you to gather and chat? If you have nothing to do, go and clean up!" Before Borsalino could speak, Zephyr, wearing sunglasses, walked out of the cabin and shouted at the trainees.
So the students who were originally chatting together immediately dispersed and obediently picked up their tools to start cleaning.
Zefa stood at the bow of the ship, looking at the familiar sea. He had thought he would never go to sea again, but he didn't expect to be on a mission again so soon, and the opponent was that same person.
Thinking of Reina, Zefa's lips curled up slightly. Kid... let me play with you again!
Looking at the group of students behind him, Zephyr smiled even more broadly, because there were many geniuses with great potential among them, especially Sakazuki and Borsalino, who were known as "monsters" and were not to be underestimated.
He was very much looking forward to seeing what kind of sparks would fly when the two of them clashed with Reina.
On the other side, Reina and the others had already spotted a small island not far ahead. At the center of the island was a huge tree whose canopy almost covered most of the island, a sight that left everyone in awe.
"First mate, is this the so-called Tree of Omniscience? It's enormous!" one of the crew members exclaimed.
“Let’s go, we’ll see once we go up!” Reina said with a slight smirk.
Soon, the pirate ship arrived at the port of Ohara. Because they had taken down the pirate flag before approaching, their arrival did not cause much of a commotion.
"Jozu, take the stuff, let's go find the mayor. Laco, you and the others, don't get into any trouble with the people here!" After anchoring the pirate ship, Reina led Jozu and a few crew members to the center of the town to find the mayor.
Before long, Reina and the others arrived in front of the Tree of Omniscience. The people here had opened a door at the base of the Tree of Omniscience, and inside was the world-famous and largest library in the world.
"Hello, is your mayor here?" Renala stopped a girl who had come out of the Tree of Omniscience and asked with a smile.
"Mayor? We don't have a mayor here. Are you looking for the librarian?" The girl was taken aback before replying.
"Uh? The librarian? Well, whatever, I'm looking for the most knowledgeable person here!"
"The most learned people? Everyone here is very learned!" The girl puffed out her chest, as if referring to herself.
Reina was speechless. He wasn't looking for a young man; he was looking for an older man. Generally speaking, the older you are, the more knowledge you have!
"Nicole, what are you still doing here? Have you finished your homework for today?" Just then, a middle-aged man walked out from the Tree of Omniscience and said to the girl.
"Sorry, Dr. Kuroha! I'll do it right away!" The girl stuck out her tongue cutely and then ran off quickly.
Reina watched the silver-haired girl leave and fell into deep thought.
The silver-haired girl, named Nicole, bears an 80-90% resemblance to the one in Reina's memory; it must be her.
"What brings you to Ohara?" The middle-aged man, whom the girl called Dr. Kuroha, frowned as he looked at Reina and the others and asked.
"Excuse me, are you Dr. Crohar? We come from the Grand Line because we heard that this is the world's largest library and also the most authoritative gathering place for archaeologists. That's why we've come all this way, mainly to ask you some questions!" Reina bowed and said sincerely.
Dr. Kuroha stared at Reina for a moment before stepping aside and saying, "What is it? Come in and talk!"
Reina nodded to Joz, then told the rest of the members to wait outside before going inside.
Once inside the Tree of Omniscience, the space is enormous, with the surrounding tree walls transformed into bookshelves filled with all sorts of books.
"No wonder it's the world's largest library, it's simply breathtaking!" Reina exclaimed after taking a look.
"Speak, what are you pirates doing in Ohara?" Dr. Crohar was not pleased by Reina's praise, and instead asked expressionlessly.
"Doctor, are you so sure we're pirates?" Reina asked with a chuckle, taken aback.
“Your aura…can’t hide it from me!” Dr. Kuroha nodded and said directly.
“Alright! Let’s get acquainted formally. I am Reina, the vice-captain of the Whitebeard Pirates! This is Diamond Jozu, the captain of our third combat division!” Reina said after bowing.
"Kuroha, the historian and administrator of the Tree of Omniscience in Ohara!" Dr. Kuroha nodded and introduced himself.
Although he appeared very calm, a great turmoil was brewing inside him. Although they were scholars who usually did research, it did not mean that they did not pay attention to the outside world.
He was aware of the existence of the three giants in the pirate world, so he was quite surprised when he heard Reina reveal his background.
“The Doctor is a sensible man, so I won’t beat around the bush! We came to Ohara for this!” After saying that, Reina nodded to Joz, who quietly took out a piece of white paper from his pocket. On it were the ancient characters from the treasure map they had copied.
"Ancient script?" Sure enough, Dr. Kuroha exclaimed in surprise upon seeing the script on the paper.
"Since the doctor knows, then he must be able to translate it too!" Reina asked with a glint in his eyes.
"I'm sorry, although I know this is ancient script, the World Government has explicitly prohibited anyone from learning or collecting such ancient script, so we don't actually know what these ancient scripts mean!" Dr. Kuroha shook his head and said.
Upon hearing the doctor's words, Jozu's eyes narrowed, and he prepared to step forward, but was stopped by Reina.
"Doctor, is there a suitable place to chat? Don't worry, we really don't mean any harm. Even if you don't know the meaning of ancient characters, or even if you do know them but simply don't want to tell me, it doesn't matter! We will absolutely not make a move!" Reina stopped Joz and said directly.
Dr. Kuroha stared intently at Reina for a long while before standing up and saying, "In that case, just say what you have to say! I'm all ears!"
"Are you sure this is the place?" Reina looked around, as the commotion had already attracted the attention of many people in the library.
“Come with me!” Dr. Kuroha sighed and stood up.
Reina followed the doctor with a smile into a small room, which, judging from its decorations, appeared to be Dr. Crohar's home.
"Speak!" Dr. Kuroha was no longer as calm as he had initially appeared; he had lost some patience with Reiner, this uninvited guest.
"First of all, I am a pirate! I am not on the same side as the World Government, so whether your Ohara Research Institute studies ancient scripts or not is actually not of much concern to us! Secondly, the ancient scripts that we need your help to explain are not any important secrets, and have nothing to do with the Void Century from more than 700 years ago!"
Our ancient writing system originated from a treasure map. As pirates, you should know what a treasure map means to us! Therefore, we have no intention of destroying the world, nor any ambition to awaken that history. All we want to do is find the treasure!
After Reina finished speaking, he gestured to Joz behind him to take out the treasure map.
Joz hesitated for a moment, but still followed Reina's instructions and took out the treasure map, placing it in front of Dr. Croha.
Dr. Kuroha picked up the treasure map and examined it with a hint of curiosity. After a while, he shook his head and said, "Alright! Even if what you're saying is true, I really can't help you! I've looked at the ancient writing on it, but I really can't translate it!"
If I attempt to translate this and make a mistake, you might pay a heavy price during your treasure hunt! If you hold me accountable, not only me, but even Ohara couldn't afford it!
"Alright!" Reina had no choice but to put away the treasure map and hand it to Joz before saying, "I just didn't expect that even Ohara doesn't have the ability to translate ancient texts! Dr. Kuroha, I'm truly sorry to have bothered you this time!"
Seeing that Reina didn't press the matter, Dr. Kuroha secretly breathed a sigh of relief and said, "I'm sorry I couldn't help you! But you can rest assured, I'll just forget about this and won't mention it to anyone!"
After standing up and bowing to Dr. Croha, Reina said, "It's alright. We Whitebeard Pirates' things are not something others might covet! To apologize for our unannounced visit, I can tell you some information we obtained during our adventure on the Grand Line!"
Regarding that Void Century, we have received information that... there was a vast and glorious kingdom, but they were destroyed by the World Government! Or rather, they were destroyed by a coalition of twenty nations from the Grand Line, and after the war, those twenty kingdoms formed the World Government of today, and their descendants are the Celestial Dragons!
And they erased everything from that vast kingdom, creating that blank century of history! As for what actually happened during those hundred years, we will never know.
After hearing what Reina said, Dr. Kuroha stared at Reina in disbelief, a hint of doubt flashing in his eyes.
In fact, from the moment they met, Reina had been very elegant and polite, so when Reina said that their purpose was the treasure map and not the blank hundred-year history, he believed him.
But just now, what Reina said was the result of many people in Ohara's research over many years. Although they may know more about some details, the general meaning is about the same.
This made him quite suspicious. If someone wasn't interested in that period of history or had ulterior motives, who would actually study that lost century of history?
"Don't worry, we only learned this by chance during our adventures. For us, the present and the future are the most important. History and such... are not important. We are just pirates, not schemers, so you don't need to be so wary of us!" Reina shrugged and said with a light laugh.
There was nothing he could do; after he finished speaking, Dr. Kuroha looked at him as if he were some dangerous bomb, so he had to offer an explanation.
As for whether the other party believes it or not... Reina doesn't care.
Chapter 89 Nicole Olvia
When we emerged from the Tree of Omniscience, it was already dark.
"Let's go, let's find a place to rest for the night, we can talk about it tomorrow!" Seeing Joz hesitate, Reina patted him on the back and said with a smile.
Unfortunately, he wanted to pat Joz on the shoulder, but... the tall Joz was already a head taller than Reina, so he could only pat his back.
When they returned to the hotel, Laco was drinking with the rest of the crew in the lobby. Several tables were pushed together, and it was quite a lively scene.
Upon seeing Reina and the others return, Laqué immediately waved and greeted them: "Reina, over here!"
"Glug glug... Hiss!" Reina took a few big gulps of wine from a bottle on the table.
"How's it going? Is everything done?" Laqué asked curiously.
Reina shook his head and said, "It's not as simple as you think. They won't easily admit that they can understand ancient scripts, after all, this thing is heavily banned by the World Government!"
"Then what should we do?" Hansen asked, frowning.
"Don't worry, I'll figure something out. Let's all rest here for a few days!" Reina said confidently with a smile.
Hearing Reina say this, the others stopped talking. Joz, who was standing to the side, suddenly realized that even he had figured it out earlier. The people of Ohara must know ancient script. So why did Reina believe their words? He must have some bad intentions.
"Beep... Day 30 of consecutive check-ins... Payday is being settled..."
You have received a base salary of 300 points.
Overtime Pay: Advanced Skill Experience Scroll
"Sign in for 30 consecutive days this month to receive the full attendance gift pack: Ninjutsu: Summoning"
In the room, Reina, who was lying on the bed with his eyes closed, received his wages for the day and then sat up abruptly.
"Ninjutsu: Summoning?" Reina immediately opened his inventory and saw a scroll inside.
"Ninjutsu: Summoning: A special skill, a type of space-time ninjutsu, which uses the host's physical strength to summon a contracted creature to their side to assist in battle!"
Reina looked at the introduction to the Summoning Jutsu, which included the method of contracting a summoning beast and the way to summon it. Just like in Naruto, it required the host's blood and hand seals.
“Looks like it’s a blood pact!” Reina said, stroking his chin.
In Naruto, summoning techniques are divided into blood summoning and non-blood summoning.
Blood summoning requires signing a blood pact with the summoned creature to summon it. Non-blood summoning allows you to summon objects stored elsewhere to assist in battle. For example, Tenten, the wealthy woman in Naruto, is a representative figure who uses summoned weapons to help in battle.
Reina looked at the method for contracting a summoned beast again; it was very simple... all it required was the other party's consent!
However, in this world, Reina doesn't seem to have found any creatures that can assist him in battle. At most, there are some creatures with special abilities, like Elizabeth, who can help him at certain times.
Regardless, this ability was still somewhat helpful to Reina, so he directly learned the ninjutsu: Summoning.
"I see... No wonder I couldn't learn the hand seals for the summoning methods I saw before. It turns out I had to learn the Summoning Technique first!" While learning the Summoning Technique, the summoning hand seals also appeared directly in Reina's mind, which was very convenient.
