Reina was also somewhat skeptical, because according to the treasure map, the treasure was located at the foot of the gourd-shaped mountain, not under the altar.
But just as Reina was about to move to another place, they suddenly made a new discovery.
"My lord! We've discovered a passage!" a merfolk warrior reported.
"Oh? Let's go take a look!" Reina perked up and, together with Naga, followed the merfolk warriors toward the discovered passage.
"It seems this passage is a secret tunnel. We just didn't find the entrance, but we accidentally dug out the passage!" Naga said with a smile after examining it carefully.
"Looks like we're in luck. Hopefully, there's some good stuff inside!" Reina added with a laugh.
Actually, he wasn't interested in treasures; what he needed was the system's reward after completing the treasure hunt.
Although he no longer cares about the rewards offered by treasure hunt missions, he still needs the fixed points; after all, even a small amount is still something.
Moreover, Reina was quite looking forward to this treasure. Such underwater islands are rare, and the treasure hidden here couldn't be anything worthless.
The system might even give him a substantial reward then.
So the discovery of the passage made Reina somewhat pleased.
Led by Reina, the group walked into the passage.
This whole thing was originally spearheaded by Reina, and since he's the strongest, it's only natural that he'd be at the forefront.
Following behind Reina were Naga and Robin, as this position was closest to Reina and made it the most convenient for him to protect them.
After swimming along the passage for a while, they arrived at a secret room.
The secret chamber was located above them. Reina was the first to enter and discovered that there was no seawater inside; it was an empty cavity.
"Huh~ There's actually a place like this here? Could it be that this secret room was built after the island sank into the sea?" Naga looked around the hollow and said in surprise.
Because if the island had sunk before, no one would have deliberately built the secret room in this waterproof manner.
“It’s hard to say!” But Robin, who was looking around, offered a different opinion, saying, “Perhaps their initial purpose in making the secret room like this wasn’t to make it waterproof!”
"What did you find?" Reina asked curiously.
When it comes to archaeology, he's nowhere near as good as Robin.
“Based on my observation, this shouldn’t be a treasure room, but a passageway!” Robin explained as he explored the area. “Placing the entrance above the previous passageway is probably for secrecy! If I’m not mistaken, there should be another path below, which was set up to hide this passageway!”
Upon hearing this, Naga gave a wink to the merman soldier beside her, who immediately left from where they had come in and headed towards the passage they had previously entered through.
"Your Majesty, there really is another path down there!" A short while later, the soldier who went down to investigate came back up and said with an incredulous look on his face.
Reina frowned and said, "Since there's another road below, is it possible that this is just a smokescreen?"
“No!” Robin shook her head and said, “This is definitely the right place, but to be on the safe side, Queen Naga can send someone to investigate the other side. That should be a dead end, or it leads to somewhere else!”
Naga nodded, and was just about to send someone to investigate another route when Reina stopped her!
“Don’t send anyone over yet. Let’s go this way together first. If this route is wrong, then we’ll go the other way together! One of the two routes is bound to be wrong, and if it is wrong, it must be full of traps and mechanisms!” Reina shook his head and said.
Upon hearing this, Naga immediately understood what Reina meant; he was afraid that the merfolk warriors would make unnecessary sacrifices.
After giving Reina a grateful look, Naga summoned the merfolk warriors to help her find a way forward.
However, after searching the entire cavity, nothing was found.
Just as Reina was about to change course and take another route through the passage below, a merman soldier seemed to notice something amiss.
“Sir… something’s not right here!” A merman soldier, holding a small torch for illumination, hesitated for a moment before saying, “With so many of us and these torches, we should have consumed a lot of air, but we’ve been here for so long and the torches haven’t gone out. There’s still enough air, which means there must be a source of air here!”
Everyone was stunned upon hearing this.
They all overlooked this problem.
“That’s right. Everyone stay where you are and don’t move. Let’s carefully sense the airflow and we should be able to find a clue!” Reina nodded and Da Jia said approvingly.
Upon hearing Reina's words, everyone stood still, and even their breathing became soft.
Soon, they found the source of the air above a large rock deep inside the cave.
“The air is coming in from here, it seems we need to destroy this place!” Reina hesitated for a moment, then decided to break it open by force.
"Father, please wait!" Robin called out to Reina, who was about to make a move, and stepped forward to examine the situation carefully.
Chapter 1179 Investigation
After being stopped by Robin, Reina stood still and did not leave.
"Have you found something?" Reina asked curiously, watching Robin carefully examining something.
“Hmm! I think I’ve seen this kind of situation in some book before. There must be some kind of mechanism in this place. If you force it open, the passage inside will be destroyed!” Robin explained as he checked around.
She had read so many books that she couldn't remember which one it was for the time being.
But she was certain that she had seen it before.
After fiddling with it for a while, Robin finally discovered the mechanism on the rock.
"Click, click..." As Robin moved, a hidden door actually opened above the stone, and a staircase even came down.
"Let's go!" Reina took the lead and followed the stairs up first.
Perhaps because no one has set foot here for many years, many places have become rotten. Fortunately, there is fresh air here, so they have not encountered any danger for the time being.
The path in the passage was not straight, but winding and twisting. Even Reina was a little disoriented after walking for a while. However, Robin behind him, with his Sharingan, not only memorized all the paths, but also made spatial comparisons in his mind and found that their current location should be inside the gourd-shaped mountain.
After walking for an unknown amount of time, they finally passed through the passage and arrived at a relatively spacious place, where three large iron gates appeared in front of them.
“What is this?” Reina frowned; he didn’t like this guessing game.
Perhaps because he's been in the world of One Piece for too long, his problem-solving habit has turned into using his fists.
There was no road ahead, so everyone started looking for clues around them. After searching the area, Reina found nothing useful except for the three patterns on the iron gate.
“It seems this place was indeed a vassal kingdom of a once-great kingdom!” Robin said after carefully examining the patterns on the three iron gates.
"Why do you say that? What does this pattern have to do with the Great Kingdom?" Reina asked, frowning.
“Yes, Father!” Robin nodded and said.
Reina looked closely at the patterns on the iron gates. The middle gate had a sun, the left gate had a strangely posed figure, and the right gate had a lamp.
“What do these represent?” Reina asked curiously. “Which door should we go through?”
“These patterns are all related to the Great Kingdom, and we don’t have the key, so we probably can’t get through any of the three doors!” Robin said, shrugging.
"Can it be destroyed directly?" Naga asked Robin.
If there are any traps or mechanisms inside, they probably can't break them by force, but if there aren't any, three mere iron gates won't be enough to stop them.
“Well… I’m not sure either!” Robin hesitated for a moment, then shook his head and said, “Perhaps… there’s a key in another passage we didn’t take? Or maybe the key is somewhere on the island?”
“Rabbit fish!” Reina and Naga said at the same time.
"If we're talking about who's most likely to know where the key is, it's probably those rabbitfish!" Reina said with a light laugh. "Looks like we'll have to go out again!"
Although he couldn't be sure if the rabbitfish knew where the key was, Reina didn't want to risk damaging the iron gate; if there were any traps inside, it would really be a loss.
Forcing the door open is a last resort, a last resort.
Leaving a few merfolk warriors behind to wait, Reina led the rest of the group back the way they came.
However, before they could exit the passage, they encountered Luffy and his crew entering it.
"Luffy? What brings you here?" Robin immediately went up to ask her captain upon seeing him.
"Hehehe... We found the rabbitfish's lair and beat up their king!" Luffy said triumphantly.
If Luffy is prepared, even in the ocean, those rabbitfish are no match for him.
Olga and Perona watched Luffy wreak havoc the whole time, unable to get involved at all.
"Oh? You know where their lair is? Great, take me there! By the way, you didn't kill their king, did you?" Reina's eyes lit up as he asked.
"No, I just beat it up. That thing was huge!" Luffy shook his head and replied.
"Hopefully we can find the key from them!" Reina patted Luffy on the shoulder and gave a general account of what had happened to them.
"Oh, what an interesting adventure! I wish I hadn't gone looking for trouble with those rabbitfish!" Luffy felt a little regretful that he had missed out on such a fun adventure.
Although beating up those rabbit fish was fun, he still preferred a more exciting adventure.
"By the way, is this the key you were talking about?" Just then, Luffy suddenly took out something that looked strange but somewhat like a key and asked.
Reina was taken aback and looked at Robin.
Since none of the three iron gates had obvious keyholes, Reina wasn't sure what key Robin needed.
“This is it!” Robin nodded excitedly and replied.
"Straw Hat, when did you find this?" Olga and Perona were dumbfounded. They had been traveling with Luffy, but they hadn't seen him looking for any keys!
"Oh, this was given to me by the leader of that rabbitfish!" Luffy said innocently. "It gave me this hoping I would let it go. I thought it was its treasure, so I took it!"
Olga and Perona were speechless. This guy's luck was as outrageous as ever!
Reina was pleasantly surprised, not expecting Luffy to get the key so easily.
So the group turned around and headed toward the three iron gates.
When they arrived at the iron gate, Robin took the key and opened the iron gate with the sun painted on it.
After the central iron gate was opened, the other two gates were directly shattered.
"So both of these doors were fake!" Luffy exclaimed in surprise when he saw that behind the broken iron doors were dead ends.
"This is all just a smokescreen. If we open the wrong door, we won't be able to move forward!" Robin explained with a smile.
"I can't believe there's such a mechanism here!" Naga exclaimed softly, equally shocked.
Reina chuckled and said, "Don't think that ancient people's technology wasn't as advanced as ours. Dr. Vegapunk has already discovered that ancient technology probably exceeded our imagination!"
Upon hearing this, Luffy nodded in agreement.
When he went to the future last time, Dr. Vegapunk showed him a giant robot made in ancient times.
Chapter 1180 Discovering the Treasure
After opening the iron gate, everyone continued forward under Robin's leadership.
