"Chase!"

……

Lin Mu crouched in the darkness of the left passage, watching the group of people, a slow smile playing on his lips. He pulled out a handful of gray powder and aimed it at the three unpoisoned individuals at the back, whose backs were to him, and struck them three times in quick succession.

Grayish-green light exploded on the three people one after another.

"Damn it! Who is it?!"

"Poison! It's back again!"

The three men who had just run off suddenly reined in their horses and frantically pulled medicine from their pockets.

Having done his bad deed, Lin Mu mounted his horse, patted its rump, and rode off without looking back.

All I could hear behind me were curses and the sound of someone drinking medicine.

The poison heal deals 22 damage every three seconds, totaling 1320 damage in three minutes. Even a level 30 warrior only has around 400 health. Which of these characters can withstand that?

Sure enough, chaos soon erupted behind him.

"Medicine! Give me medicine!" the soldier shouted.

The monk who had borrowed the medicine earlier clutched his storage bag and took a few steps back, saying, "I'm out too! I gave it all to you just now!"

"You're talking nonsense! You were hiding several bottles just now!"

"That's mine! I'm poisoned too, I want to use it myself!"

Seeing how stubborn this person was, the warrior and the Taoist priest exchanged a glance, and without saying a word, they grabbed their weapons and charged towards the sorcerer.

The mage turned pale with fright and turned to run, but the warrior's "Assassination Sword Technique" had already slashed into his back. The mage, whose health was already low, screamed and collapsed to the ground, motionless.

The Taoist priest squatted down, ripped off his Qiankun bag, pulled out several bottles of sun water, and started drinking them.

The three people who had just been poisoned were so frightened by what they saw that they rode away on horseback.

But their long-standing ingrained thinking made them feel safer together, and the three of them eventually ran in the same direction.

The soldier ignored the three who had escaped, turned back and glared at the Taoist priest: "Give me the medicine!"

The Taoist priest clutched his Qiankun bag and backed away, shouting, "Why?!"

Without a word, the warrior raised his Asura sword and slashed at the enemy, while the Taoist dodged and drank medicine, summoning a skeleton.

……

After fighting for a while, the Taoist was struck by an axe again, his face turning deathly pale as he collapsed, the skeleton he had just summoned shattering into pieces. The warrior crouched down, picked up the Taoist's storage bag, and poured out the last two bottles of Sun Water.

At this point, the poison had finally dissipated.

He leaned against the wall to catch his breath, but before he could even feel happy, a gray-green light fell on him again.

-22, -22, -22... floated up from above.

The soldier looked up abruptly. Lin Mu stood at the other end of the passage, holding a handful of powdered medicine, and smiled at him.

“You…” The soldier’s face was as white as paper.

Seeing that he had succeeded, Lin Mu immediately turned and ran, disappearing into the darkness in a flash.

The soldier frantically searched his storage bag, but there wasn't a single bottle of Sun Water left. He did have a few bottles of Wound Medicine, but the 1 point health regeneration per second wasn't even a fraction of the damage from the poison.

Ten seconds later, his health bar was depleted. He staggered a few more steps before finally collapsing to the ground with a thud.

Lin Mu ran through the passage for a while before stopping to catch his breath. After confirming that no one was chasing him, he crept back.

Several corpses lay scattered in the passage. The sorcerer and the Taoist priest were dead, and the warrior lay nearby. Several Qiankun bags lay strewn on the ground.

Footsteps could be heard in the distance, but they were far away; it was the three people who had fled.

Lin Mu listened intently. The footsteps were interspersed with sounds of arguing and fighting, coming and going intermittently. After a while, there was another scream, then silence.

Lin Mu waited a while, making sure there was no more movement, before stepping out from around the corner. He first picked up the three storage bags on the ground—the mage's, the Taoist's, and the warrior's—and stuffed them into his pockets. Then he squatted down and began to loot the equipment. These were all good items; he couldn't let them go to waste.

Lin Mu stuffed the equipment into his Qiankun bag one by one, stood up, clapped his hands, and said he would check it later.

He walked back towards the direction of the screams. At a corner of the passage lay two corpses, two of the three. Their storage bags had been taken, and their equipment stripped, hanging askew on their bodies. A pool of blood lay on the ground, dragging deeper into the passage.

Lin Mu stood there watching for a while. He deduced that one person had killed the other two and then looted their equipment and potions. There wasn't much of value left on the two corpses on the ground. He crouched down and searched through them, finding only a few scattered silver coins.

He shook his head and turned to walk back. As he passed the corpses of the sorcerer and the Taoist priest, he glanced at them again. Maggots were already crawling in the passage, their plump bodies wriggling and twisting, huddling close to the corpses, their grayish-yellow skin bulging in the firelight.

Lin Mu frowned and quickened his pace.

He ran for a while, turning several corners, and didn't fight any of the monsters he encountered along the way. Only when he was far away from that dangerous place did he find a corner to stop, sit down against the wall, and take out the equipment he had just stripped, examining it one by one by the light of the torch.

First came a large axe, heavy and its blade gleaming coldly.

[Shura: Attack 0-24, Accuracy +1, Strength +1, Requires Level 22]

It has 4 more attack points than a regular Asura, plus 1 point of accuracy and 1 point of strength. A good item. Too bad he's a Taoist, so he can't use it.

A long, curved Guan Gong sword.

【偃月:攻击4-12,魔法1-4,需要等级20】

Normal Crescent Moon Magic 1-3, this one has 1 more point of magic and 2 more points of attack. Not very significant.

Next was a long sword.

[Demon Slayer: Attack 6-11, Taoist Magic 1-5, Accuracy +2, Luck +1, Requires Level 20]

Chapter 40 Curse +2

Lin Mu's hand trembled slightly. This time, he gained 3 points of Taoist magic, plus 1 point of accuracy and 1 point of luck. A truly exceptional item.

He put the demon-slaying device aside and continued scrolling down.

A gray robe with a Tai Chi pattern printed on it; the material felt nice to the touch.

【灵魂战衣(男):防御3-6,魔御3-3,道术0-3,需要等级22】

Normal Soul Armor skill level: 0-2. This time, I gained 1 point of skill. Average, I'll keep it for now.

Then came the rings and bracelets.

[Dragon Ring: Attack 0-5, requires 37 Attack Power]

Attack 0-5, nothing special, but it's a brand-name item and not cheap.

[Death Gloves: Attack 1-3, Requires Level 22]

This adds 1 point of attack, which is not bad.

[Sharp's Bracelet: Accuracy +2, Attack 0-2, Requires Level 16]

A regular Sharp bracelet only grants +2 accuracy, but this one adds 2 points to attack. It's still a good item.

[Pearl Ring: Taoist Skill 0-3, Requires Level 20] ×2

The ordinary pearl ring has a Taoist magic level of 0-2, while these two have an extra 1 point of Taoist magic. A pair of slightly superior quality.

[Mind Bracelet: Taoist Skill 1-2, requires Taoist Skill 24]

Another ordinary Woma equipment, but unfortunately my Taoist skill is only 22 points, so I can't equip it yet.

[Taoist Bracelet: Taoist Skill 0-3, Requires Level 19]

A normal Taoist bracelet has 0-1 Taoist skill points, but this one has 2 more. It's an exceptional item.

It seems to be an ordinary team; they only have two pieces of Woma equipment, and they're not even top-tier.

[Small Bloodstone Fragment: Restores 1 HP every 30 seconds]

[Illusionary Magic Stone Fragment (Small): Restores 1 mana every 30 seconds]

This item should be able to be synthesized. Once you synthesize a high-level stone, you won't need to buy potions anymore because your health and mana will be restored.

24 gold coins, 57 silver coins, and a number of copper coins.

These people are actually quite wealthy.

The rest were just minor, high-quality items for warriors and mages, +1 or +2, which were of little use to Lin Mu.

Lin Mu put away his equipment and then took out three mount pouches. When he opened them, he found three more ponies, exactly the same as his own.

"Why are they all buying short horses..." he muttered, then remembered that Master Qin and the others rode tall, imposing horses. Oh well, having a horse to ride at all is good enough.

He stuffed the brocade pouch into his bosom and glanced at the wooden sword in his hand.

Only then did Lin realize that the properties of his precious wooden sword had changed.

【木剑:攻击2-5,道术0-1,诅咒+2,需要等级,1】

In the status bar, the "Luck" column clearly displayed "Luck: -1". Lin Mu's lips twitched. This was definitely a negative return; he had to test just how significant the impact was.

He walked back along the passage for a while and found a dung beetle clinging to the corner of the wall. Standing at a distance, he took out a handful of gray powder and sprinkled it over.

The maggot was covered in a grayish-green light, and -22, -22, -22... floated above its head. The mana cost remained at 20 points. But the key was the duration; he waited precisely for a minute, and the green light disappeared.

One minute.

It used to take three minutes. Revenue has plummeted.

Lin Mu sighed, put away the wooden sword, and took out an ordinary iron sword from his Qiankun bag to replace it. The iron sword did not have any Taoist magic, nor did it have any curses. The poison damage increased to 21 points, and the duration returned to three minutes.

He shook his head and continued walking.

When you encounter a monster, apply poison from a distance. It deals 1260 damage every three minutes. The highest HP monster, the Flame Worm, only has 2300 HP, so two poisons are enough to take it down.

The magic potions and gray powder he had seized from those people were enough to last him for quite some time.

And so Lin Mu began his tedious monster-hunting routine.

Nothing else went wrong during this period.

The underground labyrinth of Woma Temple was like a maze of winding passages and countless branching paths. Fortunately, he had been marking his location on the map, drawing dense markings, so he wasn't afraid of getting lost. The monster density wasn't high; he encountered two monsters on average every fifteen minutes. Each monster gave him over 400 experience points, so two monsters would give him over 800 experience points.

The experience bar is gradually increasing.

It takes 3 experience points to go from level 14 to level 15.

Lin Mu kept playing for 10 hours.

Finally, a flash of golden light appeared!
