"Boss! I'll kill him first, then I'll come save you!" the driver said to Eugene.

"Go now! Kill him! Drain his intestines and hang them on the city wall!" Eugene roared furiously in pain.

The giant robot moved again, the water jugs on its back gurgling, its immense power driving its heavy limbs to swing at the Abyss once more.

This time, Abyss didn't take the blow head-on. Instead, she casually used a wind spell, and her body was quickly moved backward by the wind, dodging the giant robot's slap.

However, the robot's slap did not stop unexpectedly. The sweeping attack continued, and the robot's upper body spun around a pivot at its waist. With a step forward, it launched a second attack without stopping!

Clang! Boom!

Abyss was blasted away again, crashing into the wall and creating another hole.

This time, the driver dared not assume that Abyss was dead. He had never seen such an eerie mage before. How did he manage to survive a punch with anti-magic properties?

The Shadow Armorer began to run with a tremor that shook the ground, sending chills down Eugene's spine. If it weren't for the sturdy cage above his head that could support him in case the ceiling collapsed, he might have been cursing in fear by now.

The robot's enormous hand reached directly into the hole in the wall, intending to pull out the Abyss and crush it.

But this time it turned out to be empty; the hole was completely bare, with nothing inside.

"Hey, what are you looking for? Need me to help you look?" Abyss's voice came from behind the driver.

He quickly looked up through the cockpit window and saw Abyss sitting leisurely on his armored man's shoulder, swinging his legs. His clothes were neat and his hair was in perfect shape. He didn't look like he had just been slapped at all.

"Damn it! Is this mage a ghost?!" the driver cursed under his breath, but did not urge the armored man to reach out and grab him—that would be incredibly foolish and could very well result in him injuring himself.

Suddenly, the canisters on the back of the Shadow Armored Man emitted another series of violent bubbling sounds. Then, several caps on the Iron Man's shoulders slid open, revealing small holes. The instant the holes opened, a large amount of sticky, disgusting black sludge was ejected with a splattering sound. Abyss, perched on the shoulder, was the first to be covered in the sludge.

"Ugh...how disgusting." Abyss was sprayed all over and disgustedly flicked the black mud off with his hands, but the mud was very sticky. Although the surface layer was shaken off, another greasy layer clung to Abyss's clothes and he couldn't get rid of it. He couldn't help but regret why he had deliberately taken the attack.

"Let's see how you escape my attack now!" The pilot spun around the Shadow Armored Body, flinging Abyss off his shoulder.

Abyss landed smoothly on the ground, thought for a moment, then reached out his hand towards the Shadow Armor and began to chant a spell softly.

A flame flashed briefly in the Abyss's palm, and a wisp of black smoke drifted out weakly.

"You can't use magic anymore! You're finished!" The driver walked towards the Abyss with a disdainful smile on his face.

"Huh?" Abyss was using a very basic fireball spell, but now, no matter how he chanted the incantation, he couldn't cast it. He could clearly feel that the magical core within his body could no longer draw magic power from nature.

Other spells are also unusable. Right now, the only thing remaining on his body is the necromancy bond due to the special nature of soul binding. But if the Abyss stays in this black mud for too long, it might be forcibly broken, and the consequences would be extremely serious!

The enormous fist, propelled by the powerful force provided by the black mud, slammed fiercely toward Abyss's face!

"Kill him!" Eugene roared hysterically, straining to open his eyes, which were swollen from Titus's beating.

when!

Just when both of them thought Abyss was about to have his head smashed by that punch, something astonishing happened.

Abyss didn't dodge or flinch, but instead used her fair and smooth fist to meet the Shadow Armor's exaggeratedly powerful iron fist head-on.

Instead of exploding into a bloody mess, his arm pierced through the robot's arm and became deeply embedded inside!

“If we can’t use magic, then we won’t use magic.” Abyss wore a nonchalant smile as he pulled his hand out of the hole punched into the still-stunned Shadow Armor’s fist. Then, his body moved with an almost illogical speed, and he was instantly in the Armored Man’s arms, facing the pilot through a pane of glass!

"What……"

Before the poor driver could even utter a sigh, Abyss's hand, as strong as an iron clamp, smashed through the reinforced glass. Then, using the hole as a breakthrough, he used both hands to tear open the incredibly sturdy cockpit with extreme force!

The driver's body was grabbed by Abyss like a helpless chick and thrown out!

"Ah! You! Where did you get this power! Aren't you a mage?! Are you a magic warrior?!" Eugene exclaimed in horror. "Impossible! If you were a magic warrior, you couldn't possibly be so powerful in both magic and martial arts!"

"I have extraordinary talent, do you have a problem with that?" Abyss chuckled, and amidst the terrified gazes of Eugene and the pilot, he uttered a melodious holy incantation. A dazzling golden light appeared at his fingertips, and the black mud covering his body melted into a clean liquid like spring snow under the light, then quickly vaporized and disappeared.

"Divine magic! Divine magic! Who are you! Who are you?!" Eugene cried out in despair.

"Ah! Ah!" The driver, who had been roughly dragged out of the cockpit by the Abyss's violent power, screamed in terror, dragging his aching body and desperately trying to inch his way into the corner.

As the black mud disappeared, Abyss seemed to sense something. He frowned slightly, but quickly turned his attention back to the two men.

"Alright, now that you've seen enough of my secrets, to prevent you from spreading rumors and alarming the Papacy and the Emperor, I've decided to erase your memories of tonight."

He smiled at the two pathetic fellows who had already soiled their pants in fear, revealing his white teeth.

Chapter Fifty-Eight: Preparing the Antidote

While the Abyss used magic to erase Eugene's and his loyal henchman's memories, Rebecca had already come up with several potentially effective antidote formulas.

The black sludge from Shadow Demons is an extremely rare material on the continent, and few alchemists have access to it. First, it comes from the bodies of Shadow Demons, and few have the skill or courage to scavenge it from the bodies or settlements of monsters that are keen on killing humans. Second, the sludge is corrosive and polluting to the land, water, and even the human body, making it very difficult to process. Third, and most importantly, no one has yet discovered any use for it; in other words, it has "no research value."

According to the reports brought back by the occasionally capable investigation teams sent from the mainland, the plants on the polluted land of the Shadowfall mutate, becoming deformed and growing wildly, with a significant increase in the yield of fruits and seeds, but they are completely inedible.

Some brave individuals have tasted the fruit of the mutated tree and discovered that the fruit has lost its sweetness, replaced by a strange taste. It's hard to pinpoint exactly why it's unpleasant, but it evokes a primal aversion. Consuming it also causes diarrhea and vomiting.

The seeds produced by these plants will reproduce normally. Even if they are not in polluted land, they will still grow wildly and steal nutrients from normal plants. Therefore, all countries in mainland China have clearly stipulated that individuals are prohibited from studying black mud without permission in order to prevent large-scale plant mutations, which could harm agriculture and lead to serious consequences.

However, Rebecca did have some knowledge of this rare material. She had gone through a lot of trouble and spent a lot of money to obtain a permit from the relevant departments of the Eastern Empire, which allowed her to acquire a jar of black mud to study its properties.

Now that Abyss had provided a clue, Rebecca quickly synthesized various judgments, formulated several recipes, and prepared to put them into practice while ensuring safety.

Although Titus ran a potion factory, he didn't actually know much about potions. At best, he was just an apprentice alchemist who could identify various materials, so he couldn't be of much help to Rebecca. With nothing else to do, he sat at an unused table, chewing on his spoon, watching Rebecca and a few experienced children who had volunteered to help bustle around the alchemy table.

"Tiffany, get one test tube of this potion and give it to Rezier. Remember, only one test tube." Rebecca finished preparing a potion and instructed a little girl who was waiting nearby.

The little girl nodded, picked up a test tube, took a few drops of the potion, and quickly ran to feed it to a boy lying on a makeshift bed nearby. His skin was still bluish, but he was no longer spitting out black mud.

The unconscious boy was fed a few drops of magic potion by the little girl, and under the influence of the magical ingredients, he quickly reacted. The bluish tinge on his skin rapidly faded, and the furrowed brows that had been tightly knit in his unconscious state relaxed.

"Sister Rebecca! We did it!" The little girl turned around and looked at Rebecca with surprise.

“No, we can’t be sure yet if this potion can completely eradicate the black mud from his body.” Rebecca didn’t show any joy. She shook her head seriously, signaling the little girl to be patient.

As expected, Rebecca's worries were not unfounded. Within seconds, the boy's skin was once again covered in blue. Although the black sludge's rampage within his body had been suppressed by Rebecca's previous medication, it still caused the boy pain, causing his body to twitch a few times while he was unconscious, and a painful syllable escaped his throat.

"Ah..." The little girl looked disappointed.

“Don’t be pessimistic. If this formula works, then it must have value!” Rebecca busied herself again. “Diff, boil that jar of blue solvent. Tony, bring all those baskets over there!”

To save their companions, the children ran around frantically. Titus, watching from the sidelines, felt a little embarrassed, so he came over and asked, "Ray, is there anything I can do to help?"

“I plan to add some human blood this time, using some components of blood to achieve my goal,” Rebecca said to Titus while deftly processing the various herbs on the alchemy table. “Get a few of your healthy subordinates to donate some blood to me.”

"Is this blood intended to be added to potions for the children to drink?" Titus raised an eyebrow.

“That’s right, it’s taken orally. Once it enters the stomach, it will be propelled by magic to quickly take effect in the body.” Rebecca’s hands didn’t slow down at all.

Titus nodded upon hearing this, found a clean large beaker, placed it in front of him, then pulled out a three-inch-long knife from his trousers and slashed his wrist, causing bright red blood to gush out immediately.

Rebecca glanced at Titus in surprise: "You didn't have to offer your blood..."

“Although I just had a little to drink, I’m not very drunk, and the alcohol in my blood shouldn’t be a problem.” Titus stared intently at his wrist, letting the blood flow into the beaker. “My men are mostly poison addicts; their blood contains addictive hallucinogenic drugs. I don’t trust their blood, and I can’t give it to the children. But I’m different from them. To ensure I’m always clear-headed and calm, I never take those things. You can rest assured, I don’t have any diseases.”

"Thank you." Rebecca paused for a moment, then nodded. She had indeed forgotten that Titus's men were all scoundrels and thugs with questionable morals. If she gave the children a potion containing hallucinogenic ingredients, although it wouldn't cause any serious reactions, it could potentially make them addicted. If it wasn't discovered in time, it might ruin their future.

While Rebecca continued preparing the potion, Titus brought her half a cup of brightly colored arterial blood: "Is this enough? If not, I'll bring you some more."

Rebecca glanced up at Titus's face, which was noticeably paler than before. She picked up the still-warm blood and said, "You're really something... This is definitely enough. I'll prepare some nourishing potions for you later."

After performing a series of operations on the blood, Rebecca took out a portion of the final product, added it to a bottle, and quickly shook it. After a bubbling reaction, a new bottle of antidote was created.

"Tiffany! Give him another test tube!"

"it is good!"

The little girl repeated the operation, and the blue color on the boy lying on the bed faded slightly. Although the effect of the black mud was not completely eliminated, there was no rebound after a long time.

Rebecca directed the little girl to feed the boy an entire bottle of potions. The bluish tinge on his skin completely disappeared, and after coughing up a mouthful of black mud, his breathing returned to normal. The black mud he coughed up had transformed into a gel-like substance that did not mix with its surroundings, clearly having lost its ability to pollute or assimilate.

"It's a success!" Rebecca finally clapped her hands in celebration.

All the children present cheered.

Rebecca was busy preparing the antidote for the other children, while Titus, who was slightly dizzy, sat at the table and looked on with a satisfied smile.

Rebecca wore a victorious smile. While Flora could have easily handled saving the children, the Abyss clearly intended for Rebecca to conduct further research beyond treatment. And Rebecca certainly didn't disappoint the Abyss; she discovered something quite noteworthy…

Chapter Fifty-Nine: The Discovery of Black Mud

"Who are you! Why are you here!"

Eugene leaned against the cage that had just been torn open by the Shadow Armorers, looking in horror at Abyss, who was sitting leisurely on the ground beside him.

His memories had, of course, been erased by the Abyss. Now, in Mr. Eugene's memory, he had simply endured a day of beatings, watching that bastard Titus take over his businesses one by one, and then lock him in the underground warehouse of this abandoned shop—then his cage was torn to shreds without him noticing, and the warehouse suddenly became dilapidated, with several huge holes appearing in the ceiling and walls. Outside the cage sat a young man dressed in black cloth armor, watching him with great interest.

That wasn't the end of it. He could clearly taste blood in his mouth. When he licked it with his tongue, two molars disappeared. A dull pain came from the numb wound, and it hurt half of his head as well.

"Quiet down, don't move. You've lost your memory. Your underlings came to rescue you, but they failed," Abyss explained patiently. "Do you still recognize me? I'm the one who dismantled your solvent machine."

"You! Ah!" Eugene, taking in the numerous holes in the warehouse walls and ceiling, immediately realized what his underling must have used to save him. Since this boy said his underling had failed, it meant that this seemingly strong young mage could ignore the anti-magic effects of their secret weapon!

“Stay put and behave yourself. Titus will come and decide your fate in a bit,” Abyss said casually to Eugene.

The Shadow Armed Forces and their pilot were thrown up there by the Abyss; they were getting in the way of the warehouse lying around. The pilot had been rendered unconscious by the Abyss's memory erasure and would likely remain unconscious for some time.

"No! No! Don't let Titus kill me!" Eugene didn't know why he was so afraid, but his voice cracked and his body trembled uncontrollably. Perhaps he had experienced something terrifying before he lost his memory. "Let me go, I'll give you money! I can give you lots of money!"

“Oh, no need. I’m richer than you.” Abis smiled slightly.

He's waiting for Rebecca and Flora's reports, and keeping an eye on Eugene while he's at it. Sitting here is pretty boring, so it's kind of fun to casually scare that old bastard Eugene.

"Abyss! Can you hear me!"

Rebecca's connection request came from the Necromantic Bond. After the Abyss taught Rebecca how to use the Necromantic Bond, she quickly became proficient at it and can now communicate with the Abyss at will.

“I can hear you. How are things going on your end?” Abyss asked Rebecca, his eyes fixed on Eugene, who was weeping bitterly inside the cage.

“It’s all settled! I’ve given all the antidote I concocted to the injured children, and they’re recovering very well. I’ve been observing them for a while now, and there’s no sign of a rebound. Besides, your subordinate Elton just found me, and he’ll make sure the children are safe. I’m heading to your place with Titus now. Titus said he’s going to settle accounts with Eugene today, and we won’t waste any more time on him.”

Hearing that the children were alright, Abis breathed a sigh of relief. He had a backup plan: if Rebecca really couldn't solve the children's problem, he would send Flora over to help.

The reason Rebecca was sent to rescue the children was because the Abyss felt the black mud on the children might be of some use to her, making her even more valuable. Furthermore, having just awakened from a slumber of over forty years and become one of the Abyss's servants, she deserved a chance to prove herself.

“Abyss, by the way, I collected some of the black sludge the children vomited up, and I think I found something quite interesting in it,” Rebecca said through the bond. “You remember what that necromancer said when we first came back? He thought I held the secret of the Shadow Demons, and now it seems we are indeed connected to the origins of the Shadow Demons to some extent!”
