But this highly respected magical genius was not content with spending his days sitting in the mage tower built by the emperor, researching magic, attending grand events, and living a life where he could eat and drink his fill even if he did nothing. His greatest desire was to become a learned scholar. He craved knowledge, hoped to travel the continent, learn skills beyond magic, and compile all kinds of knowledge into books to benefit future generations.

However, he was a court sorcerer. Although court sorcerers held a high position and enjoyed considerable freedom and high pay, they were absolutely not allowed to travel the world at will—after all, the royal family did not hire them to do charity, but to have a few supreme sorcerers to keep order when needed. Moreover, leaving was not easy; the royal family would generally not easily release a supreme sorcerer of the elemental school, lest he join other factions and threaten their rule.

So, Forma came up with a special idea.

He orchestrated a flawless accident, leading everyone to believe he was dead. While everyone was mourning the passing of this great Sorcerer Supreme, he had secretly left the capital and begun his journey.

He officially changed his name to Forma, donned the scholar's coat he had always wanted, and traveled to every country in the world, collecting knowledge from various fields. He consulted libraries, asked locals, observed for himself, filled notebook after notebook with notes, and firmly memorized countless pieces of knowledge that were not convenient to record at the time. These days were certainly busy and tiring, but Forma gained much joy from them and fulfilled his dream of becoming a very learned scholar. He had profound attainments in arithmetic, mechanics, architecture, archaeology, art, and other fields.

Later, he met the Abyss's master, who was then digging graves with the young Abyss. Both seeking knowledge, the two hit it off immediately and became friends. Froma even traveled with the Abyss and his master for a time, and the Abyss's current knowledge of art and local customs was all learned from Mr. Froma. Their relationship was naturally very close, and after the Abyss's master passed away, Mr. Froma treated the Abyss as his own nephew.

Now, Forma has finished his journey and is starting to organize the knowledge he has collected over half his life. He is eager to train a group of capable disciples. Although he has already taught one capable disciple in each of his areas of expertise, he always feels that the number is not enough.

“I remember telling you before that if you could find me enough disciples, I would give you a surprise.” Mr. Forma paced back and forth in the room happily. “After your adventure is over, or whenever you need my help, come find me, and I will show you what this surprise is.”

Abis said with a smile, "Then I look forward to the surprise Mr. Forma will give me."

After chatting with Mr. Forma for a while, Mr. Forma, as an elder, was very concerned about Abyss's health and growth. However, Abyss, who could now be considered invincible, was naturally not bothered by these issues and was perfectly fine. The conversation between the two ended quickly, and Mr. Forma hurriedly went to arrange for the children to stay. The arrival of more than four hundred children made the old man, who had been living in the empty castle, very happy.

After finishing his conversation with Ravenrak, Abyss heard a call from beside him.

"Abyss! Hi! Are you listening!"

"Huh?" Abyss turned his head and saw Rebecca standing beside him, calling his name softly. Behind her were Flora, who was smiling, and Leona, who looked completely ecstatic.

"Ah, you finally heard me call you!" Rebecca was delighted. "Were you on the phone with someone? I called you several times but you didn't hear me."

“Yes. I was chatting with a friend of my master’s. The place those children are going to is his castle, so I need to contact him in advance.” Abyss nodded and replied, “The communication went smoothly. I estimate that once the children arrive at the place I designated, they will be able to live a good life where they can have enough to eat and wear, and can study and play.”

"Hehe, we've brought back money from our gold too." Rebecca took a step back and patted Leona on the shoulder behind her. "Leona, let him see what we got?"

Leona then proudly pulled out several high-denomination Imperial coins from her pocket. The Abyss alone was conservatively estimated to be worth tens of thousands; this explained Leona's happiness. Rebecca, along with two other girls, had gone early that morning to exchange the other piece of gold she had pried off for cash. They had only just returned, suggesting they had visited several shops; ordinary stores couldn't easily exchange that heavy, pure gold for its full value.

"Little money-grubber." Abyss chuckled as he stroked Leona's long silver hair, prompting her to loudly protest that she was two years older than Abyss.

“We saw the convoy leaving the city when we came back. I hope these children will grow up happily and become capable people,” Rebecca said, taking Abyss’s wrist and turning to Titus, “Titus, we need to buy some things before we leave with Abyss. We’ll be back in a bit!”

"Of course, do you need my men to help you carry your things?" Titus was also planning to go back at this point.

“No need, we have other ways.” Rebecca winked at Titus. “I just wanted to remind you that something rather strange might happen in Lavoisier soon, so please don’t be nervous.”

Titus was completely bewildered: "Something strange? You're just buying things, what strange thing could happen?"

"Hehe, you'll find out soon enough. Abyss, Flora, Leona, let's go!" Rebecca smiled mysteriously, grabbed Abyss, and led the other two girls away.

Chapter Sixty-Three: Shopping Spree!

"Welcome! What kind of medicinal herbs would you like?"

The clerk at the potions shop sat behind the counter, listlessly greeting Rebecca and her party who had just walked in.

His eyes lit up slightly when he saw Rebecca walk in. Rebecca was really very likable, with pretty features and eyes that seemed to hold a sky full of stars, not to mention her magnificent heart that the boys could never forget.

However, after seeing her walk in holding hands with a handsome boy, the guy reverted to his lazy demeanor.

Oh, so you have a boyfriend.

"What kind of medicinal herbs do you sell here?" Rebecca walked to the counter, put one arm on it, and asked.

"We sell many kinds of medicinal herbs here; generally speaking, we have what you need. Just tell me what you want, and I'll find it for you," the shopkeeper replied.

"No, no, no, I wanted you to give me a list of the medicinal herbs in your shop so I can take a look." Rebecca held up a finger and shook it back and forth. "Also, cheer up, young man, you're going to be busy soon."

"Huh?" The shop assistant looked at Rebecca with a puzzled expression.

"Hurry up! You'll get your money back!" The impatient Leona walked up to the counter and stood on tiptoe to make sure her face was fully visible from behind it.

Flora secretly used a stimulating spell on the guy who didn't seem very energetic. The guy suddenly felt as if a block of ice in his head had melted, and his energy immediately returned.

"Ah... okay, I'll get you a copy right away." The clerk quickly stood up and rummaged through the cabinet behind the counter, soon taking out a bound book.

The notebook was filled with the names of many medicinal herbs written in a quill pen, the handwriting messy, but it didn't seem difficult for Rebecca. She read it through from beginning to end, then nodded: "I'll take them all."

The waiter paused for a moment: "Which kind? All of them?"

“All of them, we’ll take them all.” Rebecca looked at the waiter’s face. “Could you pack them up for us? If you have any other staff members in your shop, please call them out to help us pack everything up.”

"Are you kidding me?" the shop assistant asked, utterly bewildered. "Do you know how much all the medicinal herbs in this shop cost in total?"

"I brought 80,000 Imperial Coins, is that enough?" Rebecca asked with a calm smile. "Leona, show him our money."

Leona obediently pulled out a wad of Imperial Coins. "See this? I told you, we're not short of money! Sell us this order and you won't have to open for months!"

Flora stepped forward, nodded slightly to Rebecca, and said, "If your shop sells some herbs that are frequently needed by the local residents, we can reserve some for you."

"Any other questions?" Rebecca asked the man calmly.

"No problem! No problem!" The shopkeeper finally snapped out of his shock. He had initially thought these people were students from the Mendeleev Alchemy Academy, just buying some herbs—no big deal. But this beautiful, busty girl had ordered all the herbs in the shop!

And she actually came up with enough money to book the whole place! This isn't some high-end potion shop; they sell basic raw materials. A few thousand Imperial Coins would be enough to buy out all the herbs in stock!

Where did this rich young lady come from? She can just casually pull out tens of thousands of Imperial Coins?

"Wait a minute!" Without time to ponder these things, the shop assistant dashed out. He needed to quickly inform his boss to bring his whole family to count the medicinal herbs.

Led by Rebecca, the four Abyss members browsed the town's herbal medicine shops and alchemy equipment stores. This once wealthy woman, who had ruled the economy of Lavoisier, was meticulous with her money, never wasting a penny, but she also never hesitated to spend any amount.

They bought out three herbal medicine shops and emptied the cabinets of an alchemy equipment shop before they were almost out of money.

The strange thing Rebecca had told Titus about was this sudden, massive sell-out of shops in the city. If she hadn't told Titus beforehand, he would have been terrified, thinking someone was sabotaging the Black Hat Gang.

The things they bought from the city were naturally transported to a secluded place and then fed to the magical catfish by the Abyss.

This shopping trip was planned by Rebecca. Since they would soon be leaving Lavoisier, the city with the most advanced alchemy in the world, Rebecca worried that she might not be able to buy certain materials or equipment when she traveled with the Abyss. Therefore, she prepared in advance, stocking up on a large quantity of herbs and equipment. Plus, this bulk purchase would get her a discount from the shopkeepers, making it a win-win situation.

“Oh, by the way, Rebecca, if you like my magical catfish, I can also create a magical pet for you.” Abyss said to Rebecca as he stuffed a large distillation device into the magical catfish’s mouth. “Generally speaking, magical pets are bound to the mage, and each person can only have one. But because of your special circumstances, the magical pet I create can be bound to you, not me.”

"That's great?" Rebecca was pleasantly surprised. "Do Leona and Flora both have magical pets?"

“Yes, we do. Mine is a magnificent horse, and hers is a fluffy rabbit,” Leona said. “We can summon our magical creatures by simply chanting a spell.”

“Great! I need to think about what kind of magical pet I need!” Rebecca was delighted to hear this news. Although she had some basic knowledge of magic, she was not skilled enough to create magical pets. Now that Abyss, a highly skilled professional mage, was willing to create a magical pet for her, she couldn’t be happier.

"After buying all this, is there anything else you need?" Abyss asked, looking at Rebecca, who was pondering what kind of magical pet she wanted. "We can go buy them together."

“Of course, we still have one last thing to do.” Rebecca tugged at Abyss’s cloth armor. “How long have you been wearing this? It’s patched in so many places. You’re not poor, so why are you always wearing the same clothes? Let me buy you some clothes so we can change them on the road.”

Flora, standing to the side, felt somewhat ashamed. The Abyss's clothes did indeed have many patches, all sewn back together with bone needles using magic after they had torn. Although Flora wanted to help, as a saint, she didn't know how to sew.

“Oh, okay.” Abyss nodded casually. “I haven’t changed my clothes because I forgot…”

Chapter Sixty-Four: Farewell to Lavoisier

Abyss rarely buys clothes; he's been wearing the same outfit for almost a year. Abyss's constitution is rather unique; his body temperature is very low due to frequent use of necromancy, so he rarely sweats, and his clothes don't smell. Before meeting his first prodigy, if Abyss's clothes got dirty while living alone, he would simply find the nearest clean river, wash them briefly, and then magically dry them before putting them back on. He had to thank his master, that unkempt old man, for preventing Abyss from developing the habit of dressing up.

Therefore, while the Abyss's magical catfish belly was filled with mountains of treasures, the only clothes the Abyss could wear were a pile of burial armor given to him by the dead. This time, being led into the clothing store by the three girls, the Abyss was embarking on his first ever clothing purchase.

Rebecca's fashion sense is average, but Leona and Flora are different. One is an imperial princess who lived in high society during her lifetime, and the other is a saint who has systematically studied art. They are both very good at choosing clothes.

Abyss seemed very laid-back about buying clothes; as long as the girls liked it, he would simply nod and say yes. However, with the extravagantly wealthy Rebecca leading the group, they quickly bought a huge pile of new clothes.

“From now on, we won’t need to buy new clothes for any occasion!” Rebecca said, looking at Abyss who had changed her clothes. “As expected of Flora, the clothes she chose suit Abyss very well!”

Abyss was now wearing a more fitted set of black silk clothing. Black was Abyss's preferred color, and the size was just right, without chafing her joints. This silk, a specialty of Lavoisier, was smooth, delicate, comfortable, and breathable. It was also more durable than elven silk, achieving a good balance between practicality and aesthetics. Abyss was very satisfied with the clothes Flora had personally chosen for her.

He was also wearing a new cloak, no longer the coarse black cloth cloak he had worn before, but a silk cloak with magical runes, the kind mages liked to wear. This was the one Leona had chosen.

In Rebecca's words, there's no need to dress like a thief. Since the Abyss is the leader of the team, her clothes should be appropriate so as not to waste her beauty.

Everyone nodded in agreement. Aside from Leona, who had read too many knightly novels, no one really liked the "pretending to be weak while actually being strong" tactic. In the eyes of these invincible geniuses, once their strength reached a certain level, they no longer needed to feign mediocrity to maintain their security. Abyss was usually low-key simply because he didn't want his power to frighten ordinary people and cause widespread chaos.

Thus, after buying a large amount of delicious food at Leona's request and stuffing it into the mouth of the magical catfish to preserve it for later consumption, the four's time in Lavoisier came to an end. Led by Rebecca, the four gave a final tour of Lavoisier, allowing Rebecca, who had grown up in this city, to bid a formal farewell to her hometown.

The time spent eating, drinking, and having fun passed quickly. When the four Abyss met Princess Gylvia, they were ready to set off with the caravan.

……

"Your Highness, have a safe journey. Mr. Abyss, until we meet again, I will miss you." Titus stood beside the caravan, bidding farewell to them as they prepared to depart.

Titus has now firmly established himself as the head of the largest gang in Lavoisier. With the Sheep's Eye gang leader thrown into prison and the Black Hat gang seizing the factory and transferring it to their own names through various means, the Sheep's Eye gang members began a large-scale exodus. Titus didn't recruit them all at once, but instead conducted assessments before hiring qualified individuals to avoid chaos and management difficulties caused by the Black Hat gang's sudden expansion.

Abyss chose to trust Titus to manage Lavoisier better, believing he wouldn't be corrupted by unprecedented power, and therefore didn't leave any spies in the city to monitor him. He planned to return someday to see what the city had become.

“Mr. Titus, we’ll take our leave now. Thank you for your hospitality over the past few days. It has allowed us to rest and recuperate, and more importantly, it has enabled us to procure these high-quality potions.”

Princess Givia was already sitting inside the carriage and spoke to Titus through the carriage window.

Abyss also poked his head out of the other window: "Titus, we'll keep an eye on Lavoisier after we leave. Hopefully, you can restore it to its proper order."

“I will, don’t worry. In just a few years, this city will become a bustling commercial metropolis, all the idle thugs will find suitable jobs, the crime rate will decrease, and the city will become increasingly prosperous,” Titus said with a smile. Abyss could sense that he wasn’t lying; he genuinely had the determination to change this city controlled by the mafia. Abyss nodded slightly in response.

“This ring is for you.” Abyss took a ring off his hand and tossed it to Titus. “If you ever need to contact me, just infuse this ring with magic. I’ll send someone to meet you.”

"The extraterrestrial evil god thing, right?" Titus had already been commissioned by the Abyss, and he patted his chest. "If I gather similar information, I'll contact you. Leave it to me. Although I don't know much about this, the weird stuff that the Sheep's Eye Gang researched is definitely related to this. I think it won't be long before my boss's people start investigating."

"Then I'll leave it to you. Until we meet again, Titus."

With a shout from the rider at the head of the caravan, the caravan, now rested and replenished with horses and carriages, set off on its journey home, laden with potions. At Gylvia's request, only Titus and a few close confidants came to see them off, without any ostentatious display.

Abyss and the three girls were already seated in Gylvia's carriage. They had become Gylvia's most trusted people, which was why they had the honor of riding in the same carriage as the princess.

"Leona, I'm sorry. I originally planned to help you fulfill your dream after we arrived in the Eastern Empire, but with a formidable enemy at hand, we still need to go to the Kingdom of Osi first."

Abyss whispered to Leona.

Leona, sitting on Flora's lap, blushed and replied, "Since you've put it that way, I'll reluctantly wait a bit."

Abyss chuckled and patted Leona's head. "Thank you, Leona. This time, on our journey to the Kingdom of Ossi, we may face a fierce battle against an evil god even stronger than the Lord of the Fallen, along with his Nightmare minions. Are you ready?"

"Hmph, bring it on!" Leona clenched her little fists, her eyes burning with fighting spirit.
