These insect eggs hatched rapidly on the undead ravens, transforming into thousands of beetles the size of thumbnails. They swiftly flew to various parts of the Kingdom of Ossi, landing in every inhabited settlement, feeding on carrion, and silently monitoring every corner of the kingdom. They were all controlled by the Abyss. Each carrion beetle possessed the ability to burrow into a person's skull through their eye socket in an instant, tearing their brain apart and killing them instantly; however, the Abyss had no intention of doing so.

It can be said that the entire Kingdom of Osiris is now under the control of the Abyss. The Abyss knows everything about what every short-sighted noble who has sided with Kevin has said and done.

Even Abyss, who had no political experience, knew that Kevin had taken no measures to develop the domestic economy after usurping the throne. He even used various harsh laws to restrict the people's movements, causing the kingdom's economy to deteriorate. Some nobles took advantage of this to levy exorbitant taxes, which was tantamount to killing the goose that lays the golden eggs. Incompetent officials like Earl Shawco even took pride in this, believing themselves to be wise men who knew when to seize opportunities and achieve great things.

The Nightmare Spirit standing at the doorway watched this side expressionlessly. He did not attack Abyss directly, but chose to observe the situation.

"My lord warrior! Capture that blonde girl! Use her as a hostage to exchange for me!" Count Shaw shouted to Nightmare Spirit while Abyss ignored him.

Nightmare glanced at Flora, who was squatting on the ground, using healing magic to treat the unconscious coachman, and then slowly walked towards her.

“Hey, Mr. Nightmare, if I were you, I wouldn’t touch that girl,” Abyss said, frowning.

Nightmare Spirit did not stop. He walked straight toward Flora, who seemed not to notice him and was still focused on wiping the coachman's wounds.

“Once I’m safe, you can go and kill that damned gray-haired mage as you please!” Count Shock was overjoyed. He didn’t know why Abyss wouldn’t help his female companion, who was clearly a healing mage, but this was a chance for him to escape danger.

The servants had already hidden in the corners of the room, too afraid to make a sound. The only sound was the heavy footsteps of the Nightmare Spirit. Just as the Nightmare Spirit continued to approach, the unconscious coachman on the ground let out a soft groan and woke up.

"Where...where am I? Who are you?"

The groom, who had just woken up, was still confused about the situation.

"It's all right now. I've healed your injuries. You can get up now," Flora said with a smile.

"You...you are a goddess?" The coachman stared blankly at Flora's stunning face and asked in a daze.

“I am not a goddess, I am here to help you escape Count Shawko’s abuse,” Flora replied gently.

The coachman was about to say something when he saw a figure engulfed in flames of battle aura grabbing at Flora's shoulder from behind. He was horrified: "Miss! Watch out behind you!"

"Yes, I know, don't worry." Flora remained gentle. She stood up, turned around, and with the momentum of her turn, slapped the Nightmare Spirit who was trying to grab her across the face.

*Smack!* *Bang!*

To everyone's astonishment, the warrior, who was at least a seventh-rank warrior, was sent flying by Flora's seemingly frail slap. He was sent flying with a gust of wind and embedded directly into the wall of the room. Dust flew everywhere, and the huge house shook violently from the powerful impact!

Chapter 121 The Garden That Breeds Monsters

Abyss shrugged helplessly and said to the nightmare spirit embedded in the wall, "See, I told you, you'd better not touch her."

Nightmare spirits possess the capacity for thought but lack human emotions. After being slapped away by Flora, this Nightmare spirit hesitated for a brief moment, but then it pulled its body out of the wall and charged at Flora again. This time, it was much faster, its battle aura flames stretching into a streak of light as it moved at high speed. A hand, curved into an eagle claw, reached for Flora's face once more.

Although Flora's physical abilities were enhanced countless times due to the necromancy bond with Abyss, she was still unsuitable to face such a high-level aura warrior head-on without specialized martial arts training. Abyss didn't hesitate; he swiftly charged towards the Nightmare Spirit. As he charged, he didn't forget Count Shock, who was frozen in fear. He lightly rubbed a ring on his finger, and two invisible ghosts emerged from it, pinning down Count Shock's limbs on either side.

Poor Earl Shaw couldn't see anything, but he felt two pairs of cold, hard hands gripping his wrists and ankles. He had never seen anything so bizarre in his fifty-plus years of life, and he was so frightened that he wet himself on the spot.

The Nightmare charged quickly, but the Abyss, having gained a portion of Leona's power, was even faster. Before the Nightmare's hand could touch Flora, the Abyss had already firmly grasped its wrist.

The Abyss gave the Nightmare Spirit no time to react. This creature was merely a minion mass-produced into the world by the Lord of Nightmares through some mechanism, and it held no value to the Abyss. He rapidly chanted a spell, and an extreme chill spread from his hand gripping the Nightmare Spirit's wrist to the Nightmare Spirit's body, freezing it solid before it could retaliate.

Then, he kicked the Nightmare Spirit in the stomach, and the frozen body shattered into a pile of fragments. The solidified black sludge inside was then revealed to everyone in the room.

Abyss glanced at the trembling servants in the room, pointed to the fragments of the Nightmare Spirit on the ground, and said to them, "Look closely, this is the warrior your master invited to 'protect' you. Look at what's inside his body. If you continue to let it stay here, you may be slaughtered by it one day."

The servants looked at the Nightmare Spirit that the Abyss had pointed to, now shattered into several large pieces. Seeing the black sludge revealed after it broke open, they couldn't help but show expressions of disgust. They didn't know anything about the Lord of Nightmares or extraterrestrial evil gods; such knowledge was, after all, very limited. They only knew that anything broken open and revealing black sludge was definitely not human, but most likely a creation of some kind of dark magic.

The common people's aversion to black magic was enough to make the servants, who usually dared not look Earl Shock in the eye, glare angrily at their master.

However, Count Shock had no time to consider his servants' loyalty, because after Abyss had dealt with the "warrior" he once respected in two moves, he was now heading straight for him.

"Don't come any closer! No...no!" Count Shawko cried out in despair as he felt his limbs being held down by an invisible, eerie force. "Don't come near me!"

Abyss looked down at Shawko's face, intending to give the terrified nobleman a good kick in the stomach, but he put his foot down halfway.

After experiencing countless ups and downs, Xiao Ke finally burst into tears: "What exactly do you want to do?!"

"Shut up, you have no right to speak here." Abyss waved his hand, and the two ghosts immediately understood, lifting their feet together to cover Shawko's mouth. Shawko felt his mouth suddenly being stepped on by two cold feet, and although he tried to open his mouth, he couldn't, and could only whimper in despair.

What stopped Abyss was not out of any pity for this scoundrel who had been exploiting his people for years, but because he sensed that something was approaching.

Abyss turned around and looked at a window behind him. No sooner had he done so than two figures burst through the window and rushed into the room, heading straight for Abyss.

"Ah!" a maid screamed.

She wasn't afraid because the window was smashed, nor was she panicked by the violence; rather, she was horrified by the appearance of the two figures who rushed in!

They were two bizarre creatures with the general shape of humans, but without actually resembling human beings. Their bodies were composed of sticky black mud, some parts resembling human skin, while others looked like ink. Their limbs were completely deformed, varying in length, and their torsos were twisted in a chilling manner. They moved using both hands and feet at incredible speed, leaving trails of foul-smelling black footprints on the ground in their path.

“Those fruit trees in the back garden,” Abis sneered. “So you’re finally starting to fight back, my old friend.”

The two monsters did not attack the Abyss. Instead, when they rushed in front of the Abyss, they suddenly lost all support and exploded violently, pouring a large amount of foul-smelling black sludge directly at the Abyss.

Abyss snapped his fingers and vanished before everyone's eyes, reappearing standing by the window.

"Waaaah!" Count Shaw was firmly controlled by the two ghosts and couldn't escape the black mud, which drenched him completely. The pungent stench made him want to vomit, but his mouth was firmly sealed, preventing him from spitting out anything. The intense smell continued to assault his mind, pushing him to the brink of collapse.

Just as he was about to struggle desperately, the feeling of being restrained suddenly disappeared.

He was startled and was about to get up when a strong sense of drowsiness suddenly overwhelmed him. The black mud on his body began to evaporate into a cloud of black smoke. He inhaled this black smoke and fell into a deep sleep before even lasting a second.

"Flora, get these servants out of here. I'm going to burn down his back garden." Abyss gave Flora the order, then jumped out through the shattered window.

Flora immediately got to work, and everything proceeded smoothly and efficiently.

Because in these past few days, Abyss had already prepared for everything that might happen, and he had long anticipated that the Lord of Nightmares would put up a struggle.

Now, the side in dire straits is no longer Abyss and his men or the Restoration Army.

Chapter 122 Entomologist Abis

Count Shock's mansion was large, with a rather sizable back garden filled with all sorts of fruit trees. It wasn't fruit season yet, but the trees were laden with fruit of all sizes.

The tree wasn't just laden with fruit; it also bore some more bizarre things—wriggling black mud hanging from the branches, slowly flowing downwards, forming shapes that resembled human figures, but looked extremely awkward and ugly.

The black mud writhed and swayed back and forth, seemingly struggling to climb down from the tree. Abyss roughly estimated that at least twenty Nightmare Spirits were being born in this back garden. It seemed the Lord of Nightmares was truly desperate this time.

He had to admit that Gylvia's seemingly foolish judgment was actually very correct.

The Lord of Nightmares feeds on the fears of mortals, and what He encounters most often is the weakness and vulnerability of mortals. This proud and arrogant god probably never imagined that the Ossi people would erupt with such strong conviction under the encouragement of Gylvia through an ancient ritual.

The people of Ossi, ravaged by war, found themselves vulnerable as the Lord of Nightmares seized the opportunity to invade. Yet, this once weak nation, trampled underfoot by the Western Empire, united under the inspiration of a strong leader. The simple, honest people of Ossi almost naively believed that their princess could pull them back from their dark future and guide them onto the right path. This belief overshadowed the fear and despair of Prince Kevin's reign, leaving the Lord of Nightmares, who could have lived a carefree life, in a predicament and caught in a dilemma.

What the Abyss needs to do now is to drive all the nobles who are still suppressing the people and threatening those who dare to follow Princess Gylvia with violence and power from their castles; and to eradicate all the mutated fruit trees that Prince Kevin has spread throughout the country through the Nightmare Spirit. In this way, the Lord of Nightmares will be cut off from all other escape routes, making His situation even more desperate.

Has the Lord of Nightmares ever tasted his own fear? The fear of gods must taste far more delicious than the fear of mortals.

The Abyss knew that the fruit trees were frantically producing Nightmare Spirits because the Lord of Nightmares was in a hurry and needed to organize a counterattack. Ignoring whether they looked human, the Nightmare Spirits were being born from the trees at an alarming rate. In the short time the Abyss counted, two more Nightmare Spirits had fallen from the trees, landing with a thud and then letting out a hissing cry before charging towards the Abyss on all fours.

Abyss chanted a spell, extended his finger towards the two nightmare spirits, and pointed it from a distance. A strong chill roared from his fingertip and blew towards the two strangely shaped nightmare spirits, freezing their bodies.

However, the freezing effect was not as good as before. The two Nightmare Spirits turned into black smoke the moment they were frozen, slowly spreading outwards.

That's a poisonous mist created by the Lord of Nightmares. If it's allowed to spread, it will pose a great threat to the people of this land! If people are affected by this black mist, the Lord of Nightmares will definitely be able to take the opportunity to reap another wave of fear.

Abyss watched coldly as the two lumps of ice gradually shrank, turning into black smoke that swirled around him, some drifting towards him and others spreading in all directions.

The fruit trees in the garden were still producing Nightmare Spirits, and another Nightmare Spirit fell from the tree to the ground, splashing black mud everywhere.

Besides Earl Shock's garden, sixteen other nobles in the Kingdom of Osiris who support Prince Kevin also have similarly modified gardens. The carrion beetles planted by the Abyss in these noble territories are continuously sharing information about these places with the Abyss. Countless nightmare spirits are gestating in the trees, though not as quickly as those in the Abyss, but if the Abyss wanted to deal with them one by one, there simply wouldn't be enough time.

"Lord of Nightmares, you are indeed a very interesting opponent. If I am even slightly careless, you will drive me into a dead end." Abyss couldn't help but chuckle softly. He calmly froze another Nightmare Spirit that rushed over, and leisurely walked around the slowly drifting smoke with his hands behind his back.

It's unclear whether the Lord of Nightmares can directly observe the real world, but Abyss knows that this guy always has a way. He seems to be talking to himself, but he is actually talking to the Lord of Nightmares.

“I seem to have no other choice now. Why don’t you stop? I’ll let you go and let you consume the fear of the Ossi people in peace. Don’t harm ordinary people either. I know you want to absorb as much fear as possible from people, but this might break their spirits. It’s like killing the goose that lays the golden eggs, or draining the pond to catch all the fish. It’s not good for your long-term development.” Abyss spread his hands towards the drifting smoke and said.

The Lord of Nightmares, of course, would not obey so easily. The smoke drifted over at the same speed, and other black smoke continued to spread in all directions.

Using fire is useless, and ice can't freeze the gases either. While wind magic can slow down the dissipation of smoke, it's not a long-term solution.

Abyss could almost hear the Nightmare Lord's maniacal laughter; He must be gloating over regaining the initiative.

"Oh well, never mind, I'm not going to act anymore. Actually, I didn't take your trick seriously at all."

Abyss suddenly grinned, took a few steps back to avoid the incoming smoke, and spoke without any sign of nervousness.

"Don't forget, I once took the apple tree you modified back to study it. I seem to have been acting particularly dramatic lately, so I apologize to you."

As the last word of the Abyss fell, a thin layer of haze suddenly enveloped the sky, as if a black ribbon was flying towards them. If anyone could get closer, they would find that it was not ribbon at all, but a swarm of flying insects covering the sky!

"Let me show you the undead aphids I've bred—these mindless insects are easy to manipulate and very effective. They're a treasure passed down to me by my master."

As she spoke, a large number of undead aphids flying in the sky began to expel tiny droplets from their tails, falling like a drizzle. Each droplet was a potion concocted by Rebecca. The black smoke quickly dissipated upon contact with the potion, and the fruit on the trees and the nightmare spirits that had not yet fallen also melted rapidly under the potion's effect, decomposing into blood, oil, and rotten fruit pulp.

In the other sixteen mutated fruit trees planted in the Kingdom of Ossi, and above the Kingdom of Ossi, countless undead aphids are currently sprinkling potions down! Abyss had not taken any action until these aphids reached their destination!

He and Rebecca weren't just working for nothing in the lab!

Chapter 123 The Messenger of the Evil God

The potion released by the undead aphids not only fell to the ground like rain, but also began to evaporate as soon as it landed. A sweet, cloying scent instantly spread throughout the seventeen gardens and the Ossi Palace.

Although the potions' potency diminishes after they evaporate, they still work on all of the Nightmare Lord's creations. All fruit trees, no matter where they are, gradually return to their original state under the influence of these potions.

This potion contains a portion of divine power, and its effect is equivalent to a Flora weakened by thousands of times using holy light to expel the unclean things created by the Lord of Nightmares from Hai-Tver. Abyss is not worried about the potion's effectiveness at all; even a Flora weakened by thousands of times is still more powerful than most divine mages on the continent.

Since obtaining that special formula passed down from ancient times, Rebecca has been bursting with inspiration. Her relationship with the Abyss has also progressed, allowing her to let go of her last concerns and unleash her true power.

After Rebecca completely let go of her inhibitions, Abyss realized just how daring this seemingly rational girl, who even when she was infatuated, would actually be. Like Abyss, she didn't care what the Nine Gods thought of her actions, as long as innocent people weren't involved.

The two of them spent the day in the lab coming up with all sorts of crazy ideas, and Rebecca was responsible for bringing them to life. The method of using undead aphids to transport this special potion and then spreading it was her idea, and this was just one of the more ordinary experiments Rebecca conducted that day.

Several potions were even being made, and Abyss had no idea whether the Nine Gods, who were furious with themselves, would drag him away for a chat while he was infusing divine power with their magic. However, things were actually not too bad. Although Abyss sensed a very obvious hesitation from the Nine Gods while praying for divine power, he ultimately obtained the divine power he wanted.

His judgment had never been wrong. The Nine Gods needed his help, and as long as the Abyss's path to achieving its goals did not come at the cost of disrupting the world's balance, the Nine Gods would obediently provide assistance, no matter how unwilling they were.

The Abyss had no interest in cultivating good relations with these gods, because once his plan to eliminate the Creator God succeeded, the Nine Gods would only have two choices: First, obey the Abyss and become his underlings—the Abyss could guarantee that they would be more dedicated to their work than the Creator God; second, disobey the Abyss and be completely stripped of their power, or simply be buried with the Creator God.

There might be other options, but in any case, they could never be friends. As long as things don't escalate, the Abyss is more than happy to make use of the Nine Gods.
