The second floor of the warehouse should be more spacious.

There are several windows on the wall near the ceiling, letting sunlight into the room. However, because the windows are so high, it always feels bright and sunny above, with dust floating in the golden light, while the area below is much darker. This strong contrast between light and dark makes it feel like a scene from a movie.

This open and spacious area offers a panoramic view.

In the very corner, there was a plastic turf rug with some potted plants on it.

There were real plants and fake plants, including several bunches of dried flowers that my father had made himself some time ago.

A lot of raw materials were wasted; only a few were successful, and we took them all.

Although no walls or screens were used, it successfully separated this place from the other areas on the second floor, like a vibrant oasis in a barren desert.

And on this lawn stands a treehouse.

It was actually made of wood pieced together from firewood, with obvious signs of splicing, and it was not decorated.

But this unique style still looks beautiful, with a fairytale-like feel.

The wooden house occupies only about ten square meters, but it is three stories high.

Although the second floor of the warehouse is much taller than ordinary residential buildings, after it was made into a three-story building, you can still clearly feel that the ceiling is very close to your head when you stand inside. Even Mo Xueyao can easily touch the wood on the ceiling by standing on tiptoe.

There is a sink on the first floor, but it doesn't have all the functions of a regular washroom. It's just a place to wash your hands; if you want to use the restroom, you still have to go downstairs.

The second floor has been converted into a study, with two desks, probably salvaged from an abandoned school, placed side by side next to the treehouse window.

From here you can see the artificial greenery behind the treehouse, while the rest of the warehouse is almost perfectly hidden, and you can't see it at all unless you stick your head out to look for it.

If you just sit here and look out the window, you might think you're in a fairytale forest.

The third floor is the shortest floor, where only Mo Xueyao can stand up straight, but her scalp still has to be pressed against the wooden board, while Li Wanyan has to bow her head to enter.

There are two old mattresses here, placed directly on the floor without a mattress board to support them. Or, in a sense, the floor itself serves as the mattress board…

Without a doubt, this is a place to sleep.

The whole treehouse is like a place where children play house; it's narrow and crowded, but also very cozy.

Spending time in an open space can actually make you feel safer.

Moreover, the treehouse windows on the second and third floors face the warehouse's high windows, which are open, allowing you to feel the breeze blowing in.

Of course, it's definitely not as cool as the first floor.

Apart from that, there's nothing else on the second floor. If you really want to say there is anything, then the tennis net placed in the open space on the second floor could barely be considered one.

The warehouse was so large that there was enough extra space to play indoor badminton.

However, based on Mo Xueyao's understanding of her father, she guessed that he couldn't think of a better design in the short term, so she left it blank for the time being. Anyway, the net could be folded up and put elsewhere at any time.

"Dad already put the fan here." Mo Xueyao plugged in the fan in the second-floor study, and it immediately started blowing cool air. She put her hands on her knees, blocking the fan, and made an "ah ah" sound, "So~ thoughtful~"

Li Wanyan gently patted her head and smiled helplessly, "Alright, let's start reviewing."

"Ugh!" Mo Xueyao stuffed her schoolbag next to the desk, pulled out a chair and sat down, but then seemed to feel a little uncomfortable. She turned around and turned up the fan speed a little, changed the angle, and then switched to oscillation mode before finally sitting down comfortably.

For Mo Xueyao, who was used to doing exercises at school, lying on this desk that was exactly the same as the one at school brought back a wave of familiarity, and she got into the zone in less than a minute.

For a moment, the only sound in the small treehouse study was the rustling of pens on exam papers…

Outside the window is a fairytale-like man-made forest, and beyond that, there is real blue sky and white clouds.

The walls here are painted a light blue, so it almost feels like they've blended into the sky—it's magical.

Mo Xueyao rubbed her eyes, stretched while holding her pen, and casually asked, "Yinyin, where are you in your writing?"

"Ok?"

"Ah!" She then came to her senses, realizing that she wasn't at school, but at home. "Ahem, I've been sitting with Yinyin for so long, I've gotten used to it."

"Are you thirsty?" Li Wanyan handed Mo Xueyao a wet wipe so she could wipe the sweat from her face. "Would you like to rest for a while?"

"Hmm... Rest!" Mo Xueyao stretched and yawned. "There should be a kettle in the kitchen on the first floor, right? I'll boil some water. Ah... I have to wait for it to cool down before I can drink it. Ugh, so troublesome."

"I brought some cooled boiled water, Yaoyao, have some first."

"Really? As expected of Wanyan! You should have some first, I'm afraid I'll drink it all in one go."

Li Wanyan didn't stand on ceremony with her. She tried to unscrew the bottle cap with her right hand, but when she couldn't, she switched to her left. After opening it, she poured small sips into her mouth, then handed the remaining two-thirds to Mo Xueyao: "Yaoyao."

"Okay, the rest is mine!" Mo Xueyao drank all the remaining water in one gulp, with a few drops spilling from the corners of her mouth and running down her neck.

It was probably because the area around the warehouse was so quiet that I was so engrossed in studying that I didn't realize it was noon.

The sunlight outside the warehouse grew even brighter. Li Wanyan was filling a teapot with water, while Mo Xueyao leisurely swayed as she pushed open the back door and went out.

There's a small river just a few steps ahead. It's not a very rapid river, but you can still hear the sound of flowing water clearly when you get close.

There are many shrubs growing along the riverbank and on the opposite bank, which act as a natural noise barrier.

There's a narrow road opposite, only wide enough for one car to pass at most. If there's oncoming traffic, one car has to pull over to the side to let the other car pass.

However, there are usually not many cars here, so when a few cars do drive by, they speed by as fast as if they were on a highway, and they just 'whoosh' past.

Thankfully, it wasn't a normal road; if there had been a village by the roadside, it would have been very easy for a car accident to happen.

"Beep beep—" Just as I was staring blankly at the blue river, the sound of a horn honking came from outside the courtyard.

When Mo Xueyao turned around and walked into the courtyard, she found that Li Wanyan had already unlocked the door and pulled it open.

The father's van slowly drove in and stopped at the warehouse entrance. Then, as if unloading cargo, he began to unload things out.

"What's this?" Mo Xueyao asked curiously, leaning closer and staring at the green net-like object. "A fishing net?"

"Haha, what fishing net? This is a fence."

"A fence? Oh... the kind used for raising chickens and ducks?"

"More or less." Her father said, then leaned half his body into the car. A moment later, he brought out a large, flat basket. Mo Xueyao hadn't seen what was in the basket yet, but she heard a series of chirping sounds. "It's mainly for when we first start raising chicks, to keep them from running around."

"what?"

She looked closely and sure enough, there were seven or eight chicks and three or four ducklings inside, each one a fluffy ball that looked exceptionally cute.

"Wow... this is really something... Dad, you've given up your fruit shop and started a farm instead?"

"Haha, well, you can just come and check on it once a day. It's not too much trouble. I'll keep it for fun. In a few days, I'll get a puppy to keep with us. It can also guard the house."

"And what is that whole bunch of stuff?"

"I bought these things from the scrap market. I might need them sometime. They didn't cost much, so I just bought them."

"You really..."

"Haha, so, how does it feel to decorate?"

"That's great! Wanyan and I did our tests in the treehouse today!"

"Haha, right? Not bad, right? Bring your mom over tonight, she hasn't met her yet."

"Huh? Hasn't Mom come yet?"

"right.

"However, if she comes over... she might say that your decorating style is a complete mess and a total disaster."

“That means her aesthetic sense is lacking.” The father clicked his tongue. “Alright, I brought you lunch. This bottle of Coke was brought by your Uncle Turtle. You can have it first. There’s no refrigerator here, so it won’t get cold in a while.”

"Wow, what a big bottle!" Mo Xueyao took the large bottle of Coke with both hands, while Li Wanyan naturally carried the food.

"Okay, I'll surround the chicks and ducklings and then go back."

"Huh, so fast?"

“Otherwise your mom will say I’m not doing my job and running around everywhere again, haha.” The father lit a cigarette. “Xiaoyao, you keep an eye on them for me while I put up the fence.”

"Good~"

When my father drove away, a new chicken and duck pen had been erected in a corner of the yard next to the shade of the trees. Several chicks and ducklings were walking unsteadily, getting familiar with their new territory.

Two chicks were pecking at the water in the dish, while a little duck waddled into the dish, swinging its tiny feet as if it were a swimming pool.

The feed that was originally in the bowl was now spilled everywhere, and the chickens and ducks were jumping around and making a ruckus for a while before calming down again.

Mo Xueyao added some more water. As for the spilled feed, they seemed to prefer pecking at the ground to eat, so she decided to leave it as is.

This could be considered order within chaos, achieving a strange balance.

Otherwise, if you go and set the feed bowls out properly, they'll definitely be knocked over again in just a few minutes.

Unless it's fixed to the ground and can't be overturned no matter what.

"Dad's going to turn this place into a farm..."

"Isn't it fine?"

"Hmm...that's true. It'll definitely get lively here anyway. Having a dog to guard the house is good; we won't have to worry about it at night. After all, this place is so remote, unlike the city." Mo Xueyao hugged a large bottle of cola and took a sip straight from her mouth. "Whew—so refreshing!"

"Don't drink too much."

"I know... If I drink this whole bottle, I'll gain at least three pounds..." Mo Xueyao muttered, reluctantly screwing the cap back on.

Chapter 308 Night in the Warehouse

(One)

The city is always brightly lit at night, but in this rural suburb, there are hardly any lights to be seen.

But conversely, you can also see a more dazzling starry sky than in the city.
