The Strange Cat from Fuuto
Page 4
"Sasaki, Sato, you two should teach her some manners!"
The head maid, furious, threw Akiko to two other maids and stormed off.
Miku sat on a sofa not far from the group, a sad expression on her face. She was still nauseous at the thought of that bowl of cat food, and the cat had become quite depressed.
"You just wait, Akiko, I'll get my revenge sooner or later!"
Miku, filled with rage, couldn't help but gag again, but felt that he had taken another step closer to controlling this body. It seemed that the devilishly dark cat food had greatly helped Miku suppress the wildness of his cat body and gain control over it.
"You're quite something to be able to suppress your wildness with just a cat meal!"
Miku, who was constantly gagging, also had mixed feelings. Although he had almost met his maker, he had managed to suppress his wildness, which could be considered a blessing in disguise!
"You need to know that there are three principles to follow when working at the Sonozaki family!"
"Three principles?"
"Yes, that's because you don't listen, you don't see, and you don't know!"
Sato was teaching Akiko the rules, and Miku overheard her words.
"This group must be the most dedicated servants ever!"
Miku, with her tail drooping and moving slowly, glanced back at the three women dressed in maid outfits. When she saw Akiko, Miku shuddered and quickly tucked her tail between her legs and left.
The three principles of the Sonozaki family are ironclad rules that no one can violate; those who violate them have been completely wiped out from the world. This is because the Sonozaki mansion harbors the greatest darkness of Fuuto—the ultimate secret of the museum. Furthermore, the Sonozaki family members openly use the Gaia Memory. To work for the Sonozaki family, one must be without mouths, ears, and eyes to maintain secrecy. They even sign huge, illegal contracts as insurance. However, the greatest insurance is Miku, the round-headed, round-bottomed short-legged cat. As an executioner, he has already executed countless people who couldn't keep their mouths shut.
Ignoring Akiko, that quirky old lady, Miku went straight to Sonozaki Wakana's door. "Wakana, I'm here! Open the door!"
Miku opened its mouth and meowed softly. Hearing footsteps inside, it opened the door and slipped inside. It lay comfortably on its cushion at the table in front of Wakana's French windows. The most obvious change in the relationship between Miku and Wakana, the later boss, was the addition of several items belonging to Miku in Wakana's room.
The room, which originally contained only bookshelves, chairs, a tea table, a bed, and some miscellaneous items, now has a cat bed, a cushion with Miku's image on it, and his cat food bowl.
After seeing Wakana pour water into her cat bowl, Miku looked up and let out a soft meow in thanks. Wakana, on the other hand, sat back down, opened a book, laid it on her lap, and quietly read without saying a word.
Miku tilted his head and looked at Wakana. Looking at the woman in front of him, her long, black hair playfully fell to her face. When Wakana lifted it up, combined with the sunlight in the distance, it was truly a wonderful sight!
Before he knew it, Miku had stayed in Wakana's room for quite a while. After calling out, he got up and went out to take a walk. Staying in one place was pleasant, but it wasn't good for Miku!
Laziness will only allow the wildness of this body to grow!
He jogged to an artificial lake inside the house, but there was already someone there, wearing a fitted vest, dark jeans, leather boots, and a wide-brimmed round hat.
"What is Shotaro doing here?!"
As Miku got closer, she heard Shotaro talking to himself. Looking around, she realized that Akiko's figure had disappeared around the corner not far away.
"Akiko, actually, Uncle is already... already... already..." Shotaro hesitated, his voice choked with emotion, and said, "He's already gone!"
Just as Shotaro was getting ready to welcome Akiko's lovemaking, he turned around and saw a British Shorthair cat with eyes that seemed to look at him like he was an idiot. In particular, after he turned around, the cat even showed an extremely human-like expression. Shotaro, who was not sure before, was now sure that this cat was looking at him like he was an idiot!
Where did this cat come from?
However, Shotaro, who calls himself a tough detective, wouldn't be defeated by this. Miku watched as Shotaro let out a low hum, then turned and left, as if spending too much time with Shotaro would lower his IQ. Although he couldn't speak, he could still manage a hum through his vocal cords, and Shotaro was the first unlucky guy to enjoy this honor!
Miku, swaying his hips as he walked away, ignored Shotaro's bitter and resentful expression behind him and slowly made his way to the kitchen. He calculated the time; it was time for his extra meal.
"What kind of cat is this?!"
"Even cats are being sarcastic these days?!"
Shotaro was somewhat frustrated by Miku's words, but a scream from not far away made him temporarily put aside his emotions and quickly run towards the source of the scream.
"That sound seems to be coming from the kitchen!" Miku looked at the white window not far ahead with some doubt, when a figure ran past him quickly. "Rushing to be reincarnated, you damn bastard!"
Miku cursed under his breath, his plan to go to the kitchen to freeload was thwarted, because a creature that looked like a cake that had come to life broke out of the kitchen window, followed closely by W.
"When did a hybrid appear in our house?"
Miku watched the two figures receding into the distance with some confusion, completely baffled. The time when Kamen Rider W started airing was far too long after he had traveled through time; aside from the general plot, he only remembered the very important details. Furthermore, since Kamen Rider was an episodic series, with one story after another airing, many things were still hazy in his memory.
"Looks like I need to take some time to really remember this, otherwise I won't even know when I'll slip up!" Miku thought with a frown as he rubbed his face with his paw. "Sigh, my memory is so unpredictable, it's really a real problem sometimes!"
"Forget it, let's go see what's going on!"
Miku quickly ran to the garden path, where, besides W, there was also that cake-spirited guy, and that unlucky guy, Sonozaki Kirihiko, was also there. The three of them were basically fighting wildly in a chaotic mess. Miku lay on a patch of grass, only her pair of emerald green eyes showing, watching the melee in front of her with great interest.
Should I join in too?!
After thinking for a moment, Miku gave up. Not only did he have to run back to the old man to insert the memory, but the fact that the three of them might move the battlefield at any time also made him give up. He'd rather lie here and watch the show; why should he get involved? It's too much work for a cat! Unbeknownst to him, the three on the field were gradually getting into a real fight, while inside the Sonozaki mansion, the old man took out the driver and memory and muttered to himself, "It seems a bit noisy at home!"
"panic!"
The old man, with the memory inserted, had four unknown totems engraved with ferocious beasts rotating around him. Accompanied by roaring lightning and spreading dark purple snowflakes, the old man successfully transformed.
"The head of the household's duty is to ensure the safety and stability of the household!"
Chapter Seven: Earth's Memory
"Hit him! Go ahead and hit him!"
"Block it, hey, that's it!"
"Oh my, it even spits! I love it!"
"It's stuck! Haha!"
...................
Lying in the grass, Miku's large, bright green eyes gleamed with excitement. As the saying goes, those who enjoy watching a good show never miss a good one, and Miku was extremely excited watching the chaotic fight between the three. Its tail twitched back and forth, and if you only looked at its tail and not its rear end, you would think it was a dog!
"hiss......"
Miku gasped suddenly, looking around in terror. His fur stood on end, and fear replaced excitement in his bright eyes. All the chirping of insects and birds around him vanished, except for the three idiots still engrossed in their fight. Every living creature in the area, insects and birds alike, trembled in fear. Even more shockingly, a flower bud closed at a speed visible to the naked eye. "What's going on?!" Miku shuddered, feeling weak in the knees, as if he were being watched by an ancient tyrannosaurus rex. Not a single part of his body felt at ease.
"Get out of here! We have to get out of here right now!"
Shivering, Miku got up and ran away like a madman, heading towards any place where he could feel warmth. That place now felt like a graveyard, lifeless and utterly cold.
"Hahahahaha!"
A burst of maniacal laughter echoed through the air, and a strange figure appeared out of thin air. His head was adorned with a crown carved with bizarre beasts, from which hung a dark purple cloak. Hearing the unrestrained laughter, Miku tucked his tail between his legs and ran even faster. He knew from the sound alone that the old man had arrived. These three idiots had made too much noise and displeased the old man. Otherwise, he wouldn't have bothered with such matters. If the old man discovered he was here, it would be disastrous. As the head of the Sonozaki family, the old man was an invincible boss in the early to mid-game. Putting aside everything else, his ability to instill fear was so powerful that, apart from A-kun, who was naturally immune to mental attacks, almost everyone else would be scared to death if they encountered him.
As you can see, Shotaro was driven to the brink of collapse by the old man in just one encounter! He didn't die, all thanks to the W Driver!
Run! Run faster! Run faster!
For the first time, Miku felt so happy to have four legs. He ran back to the courtyard, locked himself in his room, hid in the cat bed, and trembled with his butt sticking up.
Meanwhile, facing the imposing and terrifying old man, Shotaro had no choice but to run away. Even after running away, his body was still trembling uncontrollably, covered in cold sweat, and his back was soaked with cold sweat. He took off his hat, and his once proud hairstyle was now a mess, which he didn't care about anymore.
That unspoken, indescribable fear enveloped him like boundless darkness, a pitch-black expanse devoid of any light. And this was only when he was facing the old man. If he were to be touched even a little bit by the mud manifested by the old man's power of fear, the outcome would probably be far worse!
"Are you alright, Shotaro?"
"It's alright, partner!" Despite his fear, Shotaro managed a smile as he replied, even without Philip by his side. "I'll go check on Akiko. We have to make her stop this reckless behavior. The situation in this house is more complicated than we think!"
After speaking, Shotaro ignored Philip's reaction and directly took the driver from his waist, severing their mental connection. After a long while, Shotaro, his legs trembling, went to find Akiko, intending to take her away immediately. This house was too dangerous; he shouldn't come here again without the necessary power!
After searching the mansion without success, Shotaro learned that Akiko had gone to the Fuuto Museum, so he set off directly for the museum.
Having run several red lights along the way, Shotaro hurriedly entered the museum, only to see Akiko talking with a kind and amiable elderly gentleman. Being polite, Shotaro did not disturb them, but stood there anxiously waiting. While waiting, he looked around and discovered many things that made his heart tremble.
Those were specimens and fossils one after another: magma, ancient coins, Anomalocaris, Tyrannosaurus Rex, and so on. When he saw the skeleton fossil of Tyrannosaurus Rex, that face appeared in Shotaro's mind.
"I really like you, Xiao Xiang!"
With a hint of pain in his eyes, Shotaro suppressed his grief, readjusted himself, and began to ponder again.
As Shotaro looked at these things, his keen detective instincts, combined with the cases he had handled before, led him to instinctively feel that this museum might hold some unknown secrets. Just then, a gentle voice interrupted his thoughts.
"Aren't you shocked?"
Looking back, Shotaro saw the elderly gentleman who had been talking to Akiko standing right in front of him. He had no choice but to take off his hat to acknowledge him. The gentleman nodded in acknowledgment, his eyes behind his brown-tinted glasses full of smiles.
"I am the curator of this museum, Sonozaki Ryoubei!"
"Aren't these memories etched on Earth amazing!" The old man stood with his hands behind his back, like a king surveying his territory, and spoke proudly: "A fossil, a bone, a feather, a drop of blood, a flower..."
"All of this is the memory of the Earth itself; it is etched into everything, including you and me!"
He pointed to his own and Shotaro's grandfather, and seeing Shotaro's wary expression, he could only shake his head and sigh, "Sigh, these young people nowadays!"
"I'll take my leave now. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow!"
Watching the old man's figure leave, Shotaro's hands stopped trembling unconsciously!
At this moment, in Miku's room at the Sonozaki mansion.
The room was covered with a soft carpet, just so Miku wouldn't get cold from the floor when he lay down anywhere. The walls were mostly covered with cat trees and various cat play equipment. In a huge, castle-like cat house, even a small child could easily enter and play freely, Miku was lying on the second floor, basking in the sunlight streaming in through the window, lazily fiddling with a golden memory object.
Looking at the memory device, which was about the size of a palm, Miku's eyes showed a thoughtful expression.
Logically, as the user, he had no reason to delve into this matter; it was the old man's job. However, deep down, he had a strange feeling that the memory hadn't accepted him. The peak Saber-toothed Tiger Memory possessed unparalleled speed, a speed no one could match. Yet, every time Miku used it, he felt he still had energy left, not having reached the memory's limit.
When using it, not only does it feel like being spied on, but it also feels like a creepy old man is peeking at him with one eye sticking out in a lewd way.
This made him feel very uncomfortable.
"What on earth is it?!"
Miku, struggling to recall the original plot, frowned deeply, feeling that the more she thought about it, the less she understood.
"The memory is the embodiment of Earth's memory. Rather than saying that the memory gives people power, it is more accurate to say that Earth's memory gives power to users through the medium of the memory!"
"The memory is at best a receiver; the real power comes from the collective consciousness of Earth—Gaia!"
Thinking of this, Miku's eyes lit up. Before long, a wild howl came from Miku's room, like a child crying. The passing maids trembled and quickly left.
Chapter 8: What? There's competition too!
Fuuto, Sonozaki Mansion.
Miku swaggered towards the restaurant, having figured out some things, and the whole cat seemed different. More arrogant than before? No, much more confident.
Upon arriving at the restaurant, all the members of the Sonozaki family were already seated, except for him. Before he transmigrated, Miku, the cat, wouldn't eat here; he would eat in his own space. However, after transmigrating, Miku caused a few mischiefs to assert his presence and gather information, which finally earned him a place at the table.
"Now that Miku is here, let's eat!"
The patriarch, as the head of the family, watched with a smile as Miku jumped onto the table, a servant behind him tying a napkin around his neck. Dinner was thus beginning.
