After the broken cane was thrown away, it landed on the water's surface and quickly sank underwater.

Edith, the sage, reached into her robes and pulled out an Eye Soul. She pressed it firmly and tossed it away. The Eye Soul flew in an arc, fell a short distance, and then quickly flew to Edith's waist, where it merged with her.
