Prologue: The Wallfacer Substitute

Lin Feng became a Wallfacer.

He is a reincarnated individual, reborn from a car accident and becoming the son of a high-ranking American official.

Although he didn't have any cheat codes or knowledge from his past life to make him successful, Lin Feng did alright in the United States thanks to his adoptive father's connections, at least he didn't have to worry about money.

I thought my life would just continue like this, spending my days in the simple, unpretentious, and boring life of the rich.

It wasn't until Lin Feng saw the news about the Wallfacers released by the Earth United Council that he belatedly realized that he had not been reborn into the body of someone on Earth, but had transmigrated into the Three-Body Problem!

Even more unfortunately, one of the Wallfacers turned out to be his cheapskate father!

Frederick Taylor!

Although many years have passed since his time travel, Lin Feng still remembers some of the general plot of The Three-Body Problem.

Taylor, the first of the four Wallfacers to have his wall broken, ultimately chose to commit suicide due to the immense psychological pressure after his wall was broken...

Gan!

Although he has memories of his past life and some prejudice against America, Taylor is his father in this life with whom he has a blood relationship and has the grace of raising him. If he turns a blind eye, how is he any different from an ungrateful wretch?

In order to ensure that his father could enjoy his later years in peace and not end up with the tragic fate of committing suicide, Lin Feng made his own choice.

That's right, it's taking over the Wallfacer's authority from Taylor!

Lin Feng's idea was simple: since the pressure from being a Wallfacer led Taylor to choose suicide, then as long as Taylor was no longer a Wallfacer, he would not choose suicide.

When the ETO Wallbreaker, dressed in a wrinkled suit and tie, wearing a top hat, and with a thin, pale appearance, came into contact with Taylor, Lin Feng knew that the opportunity he had been waiting for had arrived.

The Wallbreaker explained Taylor's hidden Wallfacer plan: using ball lightning to destroy and quantize the Earth fleet just before it was about to engage the Trisolaran fleet in battle, creating an indestructible quantum ghost fleet.

How can someone who is already dead die again?

Similarly, a fleet that has already been destroyed cannot be destroyed again.

Taylor believed that this fleet was invincible, no matter how powerful the Trisolaran fleet's weapons were.

However, the answer from the wallbreaker was simple—the Lord doesn't care.

Taylor was thus defeated, becoming the first Wallfacer to have his wall broken.

In the Three-Body Problem game, after the Wallbreaker with the ID "Von Neumann" left, Lin Feng seized the opportunity to demand the authority of the Wallfacer from Taylor.

The process went smoothly, partly because Taylor's heart had been broken by the Wallbreaker and by his own humanity and morality.

On the other hand, it was because of Lin Feng's preparations. Five years had passed since he saw the news about the Wallfacers. He had painstakingly prepared for five years, all for this moment, to persuade his father to hand over the authority of the Wallfacers to him.

Lin Feng turned his gaze to the television news, which was reporting on his situation.

On television, Taylor stood in front of the press conference podium, her tense face showing signs of exhaustion. Although she was no longer as distraught as she had been at the beginning after Lin Feng's persuasion, the blow from the Wallbreaker was still there.

“From this day forward, my son, Feng Taylor, will be in full charge of my work of facing the wall. From this moment on, all plans he announces will be my plans.”

His words stirred up a huge wave of discussion. In an instant, countless reporters pressed their shutters, and the entire press conference hall seemed to explode with activity as reporters frequently tried to speak.

"Mr. Taylor, does this mean that the Wallfacers are hereditary?"

Will the Wallfacers become the new 'Emperors' of Earth?

"The Trisolaran fleet hasn't even arrived yet, and we humans are already regressing to an old feudal era?"

"Who exactly is your son? Is he capable of taking on the job of a Wallfacer?"

"Are you truly working for all of humanity, without a single personal desire involved?"

"Mr. Taylor, has the desire for dictatorship overwhelmed your democratic rationality, leaving you unable to discern your direction?"

……

A barrage of questions rained down on Taylor at the podium.

What Taylor said was so sensational that the Wallfacers were a manifestation of highly centralized power, and the democrats directly regarded them as dictators.

Nowadays, such 'dictators' can be hereditary, which makes them no different from emperors in ancient times!

Years of experience have allowed the reporters to keenly sense the topicality involved.

Taylor remained calm and composed, showing no sign of panic.

Compared to dealing with the Wallbreakers of ETO and the Trisolarans, the journalists in the press conference room were like sheep in a pen; Taylor found their sharp questions utterly threatening.

“If you have any questions, please line up and raise your hands, otherwise I will have to ask you to leave,” Taylor said.

The bustling press conference hall fell silent instantly, arms springing up like bamboo shoots after a spring rain. If the teachers giving lectures could see this scene in their classrooms, they would probably cry tears of joy.

“You’re the first one to raise your hand. What’s your question?” Taylor gestured for a reporter to speak.

"The Trisolaran fleet hasn't even arrived yet, are we humans going to regress to the old feudal era?" The reporter quickly repeated his question.

Taylor said, "This is part of the plan."

The reporter was stunned, smacked his lips as if he wanted to say something but hesitated. After a few seconds, he reluctantly put down the microphone and gave up asking questions.

Next, other reporters asked Taylor their questions, and Taylor's answers were all the same.

This is part of the plan!

"It seems the Earth United Council is also in trouble."

Lin Feng muttered to himself. He remembered that he had initially suggested that his father simply give him the Wallfacer identity as well, and Taylor had agreed.

But now that the news has been released, it only exists as a 'substitute for facing the wall'.

Taylor is still a Wallfacer, but he has become a relay station. Lin Feng still needs Taylor to exercise the authority of a Wallfacer.

The only party capable of influencing Taylor's decision is the United Nations, presumably because they fear that the Wallfacers might evolve into dictators and even hereditary dictatorships.

"Never mind, whatever happens, the goal has been achieved anyway."

Lin Feng's core objective was to free his father from the pressure from the Wallfacers, so as to prevent him from committing suicide.

Now, the pressure on the Wallfacers has shifted to Lin Feng. Although Taylor is still a Wallfacer, he is only a relayer. Lin Feng will take over the Wallfacers' work, so Taylor doesn't need to bear too much pressure.

As for whether Lin Feng will find these pressures unbearable like Taylor's... absolutely not.

Lin Feng was different from the others; he knew the plot and, more importantly, he knew that Luo Ji's Dark Forest Theory would save all of humanity.

So, what kind of pressure could he possibly be under?

Trisolaran Fleet?

Forget it, it's just a problem that can be solved anyway.

Is a threat that can be resolved even considered a threat?

Not really!

The Trisolarans are weak!

Therefore, Lin Feng's idea after taking over the Wallfacer's authority was to reduce the various internal conflicts caused by the Trisolaran crisis and preserve as much of humanity's living strength as possible.

As for Lin Feng's own plan to face the wall, that's a non-existent thing. Lin Feng is very self-aware; he knows his own limitations. If his father hadn't been a Wallfacer, and the only one among the four Wallfacers to choose suicide, he wouldn't have wanted to wade into this troublesome mess.

Keep in mind that the Trisolaran fleet wouldn't arrive for hundreds of years, and it would be driven away by Luo Ji's Black Forest deterrence before it even arrived.

In this way, Lin Feng could live his simple, unpretentious, and boring life as a wealthy man until he died without having to worry about the Trisolarans. This was far better than being a Wallfacer for human civilization.

Wallfacers don't need to worry about assassination by ETO, but rich people don't!

Chapter 1 This is part of the plan

Do you really know what you're doing? It's not too late to regret it now.

“I know very well, Dad.”

"I will handle everything, trust me."

"Okay, I won't interfere in your affairs anymore."

Lin Feng ended his phone call with his father and walked into the conference room. Before him stood elites from all walks of life in the United States and Western countries, including many oligarchs who monopolized certain fields.

Lin Feng walked to the head seat of the conference room and sat down, looking calm and composed.

"Sorry to keep you waiting for so long."

There was no response; the crowd simply stared at him coldly, many with a hint of contempt in their gazes.

Lin Feng was not surprised to receive such an awkward response. Everyone present was either an elite in their field or a powerful figure who commanded respect in their own right. Who was Lin Feng to him?

Just because these people can respect their father Taylor doesn't mean they will respect him. Unlike the East, the West doesn't have the same "like father, like son" mentality; the younger generation and the older generation are completely separate.

Not to mention Taylor's failure after the wall-breaking incident; even if Lin Feng took over, he was naturally labeled a 'loser'.

Your father is more capable than you and he still can't do a good job. You're just a nobody who needs to rely on your father's connections to make money. How can you possibly do a good job?
