The CIA chief of staff rubbed his temples, looking troubled, and sighed.

"This is the Wallfacers' decision, and we have no right to object. Let's hurry up and make the arrangements."

Chapter 8 The Attack of the Wallbreakers

Three-Body Game World

Each of the giant pendulums is tens of meters high, and the pendulum's bobber is a huge rock, which is suspended by a large rope from a sky bridge spanning two slender stone towers.

These pendulums have stopped swinging and stand on the ground like terracotta warriors.

A group of people gathered under a single pendant, whispering and talking amongst themselves.

"Beethoven, how is it progressing? Is it going smoothly?" Qin Shi Huang asked.

"Everything is going well. According to the inside information, Feng Taylor is preparing to go to the Lincoln Memorial to accept von Neumann's challenge to break through the wall."

"Besides that?" someone asked Beethoven.

“No more.” Beethoven shook his head. “King Zhou, the Wallfacers rejected the CIA’s proposal to stop the Wallbreaking operation.”

King Zhou frowned and pondered for a moment before asking, "Could it be a deliberate misdirection? Even if the CIA doesn't act based on inside information, other American intelligence agencies can still take action."

"Probably not," someone answered King Zhou's question. "Feng Taylor knows that doing so would be pointless."

The significance of the stage action was not to announce the plan, but to destroy his spirit and deliver a fatal blow to Feng Taylor on a psychological level.

That's why the challenge was chosen to take place in Washington Square.

"If von Neumann is killed before breaking through the barrier, it means that humanity is truly afraid. Our ETO's work in breaking through the barrier so far has been very effective, and the Lord will pay more attention to us."

"And von Neumann's death will not stop the breaking of the wall; Feng Taylor's plan will still be made public. Von Neumann's death will only make the world believe it even more..."

"Their Wallfacers have failed again."

Sacrificing von Neumann alone will earn them greater attention from the Lord!

ETO will prove to God just how great a threat they pose to humanity!

"Exciting."

Qin Shi Huang muttered to himself, a smile forcing through his meticulous and serious expression. He seemed to already see the Wallfacer, utterly defeated, a few weeks later.

Time flew by, and the date of the challenge soon arrived. Amidst the fierce competition and intrigue among various parties, ETO's stage operation began.

John von Neumann was already waiting at the Lincoln Memorial on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

Besides von Neumann, there was a large crowd of onlookers.

ETO deliberately spread the message that "Wallfacer Feng Taylor will be broken by ETO Wallbreakers in Washington Square." The message spread like wildfire, reaching the entire United States in just one day, and by noon the following day, it had spread to the whole world through various social media platforms.

The ETO didn't do anything particularly complicated; they simply released the information. What truly fueled the spread of the information was the various capital forces in the United States, such as the capital behind Washington Square.

Tickets for the tour have been rising in price due to ETO’s stage performances, reaching as high as $7,000 a ticket on the day of the final battle.

Even so, the crowds were still huge, and the $7,000 couldn't dampen the enthusiasm of the onlookers.

A motorcade of black presidential limousines pulled up to the side of the road, and a group of bodyguards in black suits got out of the cars, parting the congested crowd and making way for a wide road.

Lin Feng stepped out of a presidential limousine, followed closely by several CIA agents responsible for his safety, and entered the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

Upon seeing Lin Feng's arrival, von Neumann politely bowed to him.

“You’re late, Maple Taylor. I thought you weren’t coming today.”

"Sigh, being a Wallfacer is very busy. Every day, we have to use a very unhealthy lifestyle of debauchery to confuse the Trisolarans. If I hadn't read today's newspaper, I would have almost forgotten about you. I'm really sorry."

He said sorry, but there was no real apology in his words. Von Neumann only sensed a strong sense of hostility.

“I understand you. To use a popular phrase these days, Wallfacers work 24/7, 24/7. I’m the same way.” Von Neumann hesitated for a moment before continuing, “Um… if I remember correctly, you were the one who proposed the 24/7 work system in various countries, right?”

The various expressions that had been on the faces of the onlookers gradually faded away.

The air became extremely stuffy and quiet, like an active volcano that could erupt at any moment.

It's unclear who broke the oppressive silence first, but in an instant, the crowd erupted in excitement.

"what?!"

"It was actually the Wallfacer who proposed the 007 work system!"

"You hateful demon!"

"You beast!"

"How could he do this? I trusted him so much before!"

Many people were eager to rush up and beat Lin Feng up, but they were all stopped by the bodyguards who had come with Lin Feng.

These bodyguards are all elites drawn from the military and police departments; they are not only strong and powerful, but also highly skilled in combat.

Of course, on the other hand, there weren't enough onlookers. If there had been several times more, the situation would have been out of control.

Von Neumann continued, seemingly oblivious to his surroundings, "You know, we ETOs also need food, clothing, shelter, and transportation; we need to work normally in society and receive a salary."

"The 007 work schedule would leave most of humanity too exhausted to think much, including us ETO members hidden within human society. You hope to use this to prevent us from breaking down your barriers..."

ETOs are, in essence, people too, and as people, they need to eat, drink, and eliminate waste normally.

Therefore, if members of the ETO organization want to survive, they can only do the same as everyone else: earn money through labor to cover their daily expenses.

Lin Feng's 007 work system has a global impact, and ETOs simply cannot avoid it, so they are forced to work overtime.

Everyone at ETO thought it was Lin Feng's scheme, but Lin Feng had never actually considered such a thing.

Huh? What is he saying?

Using a 007 work schedule to prevent ETO from breaking through the barrier? How come I didn't know about this?

Lin Feng's expression didn't change. The other party was praising him. If he showed any abnormality, wouldn't it make him seem like his IQ was lower than that of ETO molecules?

Seeing that Lin Feng had no reaction, the wall-breaker opposite him took it for granted and smiled confidently.

"Unfortunately, you miscalculated. We still managed to break through your plan, even though you used this method."

Do you know why we chose the Lincoln Memorial?

"All men are created equal. In the past, he defeated slave owners and freed slaves. Today, I will defeat the slave owners of the new era and liberate all mankind."

After hearing this, Lin Feng was at a loss for words.

Damn it!

Where do you inhumane criminals get the courage to portray yourselves as so righteous?

You ETOs have even betrayed your own race. Where did you pick up that audacity to talk to me about human rights?

Chapter 9 So this is your plan!

Is that all you wanted to tell me?

Lin Feng went straight to the point. He didn't want to waste any more time on other topics. He was here today to destroy ETO's morale and use the Wall-Breaking Operation to launch a counterattack against ETO.

“Excuse me, Mr. Taylor, I am about to announce your Wallfacer Plan to the world.”

"Oh? Then tell me about it."

Lin Feng smiled and shrugged, gesturing for the other person to speak quickly.

The "Wall-Facing Plan"? Don't be ridiculous!

He wasn't even facing the wall, so what kind of "facing the wall plan" was he talking about?

The protagonist in the original story is capable of solving the problem; why would he need to go through the trouble of meditating in seclusion? No!

He never even considered any wall-facing plan from the beginning, but now someone wants to break through his wall?

He wanted to see what this wallbreaker from ETO could use to break through a 'wall' that didn't even exist in the first place!

ETO! You've chosen an opponent you absolutely cannot defeat!

“Yes, Mr. Taylor.”

Although Lin Feng's reaction was different from what he had expected and he felt a little strange, von Neumann did not think about it in detail. His previous success in breaking through the barrier filled him with confidence.

He could defeat Frederick Taylor, so he could certainly defeat his son!

After organizing his thoughts, Wallbreaker von Neumann began to speak. The commotion among the onlookers gradually subsided, and everyone's attention turned to the Wallfacer and the Wallbreaker.

"First, please allow me to briefly describe the strategic plan you have announced to the outside world—to utilize the inefficient energy dissipation characteristics of macro-electrons to store electrical energy collected by human civilization over hundreds of years, and to support future human fleets in defeating their enemies."

"Was my description of the strategic intent correct?"

Lin Feng looked at the Wallbreaker with some pity. "You don't mean to announce this, do you? A plan that I'll publish in the news so everyone already knows, right? Is ETO's online information really that outdated?"

"No, please allow me to say no, this is not your true strategic intention, this is a disguise."

Huh? What do you mean? Do you think I don't know my own thoughts?

Lin Feng felt both annoyed and amused, and he pressed on with a sarcastic tone.

"Oh? Then what is my real strategic intention?"

"It continues."

John von Neumann, the wall-breaker, gave a resolute answer.

Continuing to exist? What does "continuing to exist" mean?

This answer left Lin Feng somewhat puzzled.

Doubt caused Lin Feng to suppress his initial sarcasm. This change led von Neumann to believe that his breakthrough was beginning to show results, and the Wallfacer's disguise was being torn off.

"You and your father are both too obvious in your intentions. No, you are even more eager for quick success than he was."

"What made me doubt your strategic intentions was your eagerness to announce your plans after becoming a Wallfacer..."

"What's wrong with that? If I don't announce my plan, am I supposed to complete such a massive project all by myself?" Lin Feng retorted.

Von Neumann shook his head. "No, I mean, you didn't need to make the plan public so early. There's no need to rush these things. What you're doing is like an urgent shout, trying to tell everyone—believe me, believe that the plan I'm announcing is my true strategic intention."

Lin Feng fell silent. The Wallbreaker was right; the press conference he organized back then was indeed based on that idea.

He desperately needed everyone to know his plans.
