"Don't bully the dachshund!" Mr. 4, who was fighting Zoro, saw countless baseballs flying around and looked towards the wax boat. He then saw Luffy bullying the dachshund and abandoned Zoro, turning back to shout.
"Who runs away during a duel?" Zoro muttered, watching the departing figure after he pulled back his weapon.
"Haha! That green-haired guy must be the one who thinks you're too weak and won't let you fight him." Sanji laughed, leaving the bruised and battered Mr. 3 behind.
"You lecherous cook, you're asking for it!"
Bang! Bang! Bang! A chaotic brawl ensued.
"Waaah! I'm so touched! I've decided I don't want it anymore." Luffy looked at his owner and pet embracing each other intimately, his eyes brimming with tears of emotion.
"Idiot!" a group of people thought to themselves. They were talking about fighting, but instead of playing with someone else's pet, they were also deeply moved by what they saw. There weren't many people who would expose their backs to the enemy for the sake of their pet.
“You have to protect him!” Maggie asked, looking at Golden Week who was standing with his arms outstretched, protecting Mr. 3.
"Yes! Yes!" The returning Golden Week showed no sign of giving way, but despite her legs starting to tremble, she bravely stared at Maggie.
Looking at her strong appearance, Maggie remembered the little girl Apis who had also dared to confront the powerful navy without fear for Lord Dragon. So she squatted down, pressed her hat, and laughed.
"Take him away. You're still young and need to pursue your dreams. Don't get involved in these assassin jobs."
But he found the other person staring at him angrily.
"Alright, alright, it's not a child anymore." Mabi didn't know she had said something wrong, but she still comforted her.
"Mr. 3, did you hear me?!" Maggie grabbed her head and threatened the man behind her whose face was covered in bruises.
"Okay! Okay! I'll help her arrange her future life." Mr. 3, who had escaped a disaster, hurriedly nodded in response.
"Then let's go back. It's better to find a place to live than to do this."
No one questioned this; no one could bring themselves to harm a little girl.
"I'm so sad, I didn't get that pet!" Watching the wax ship sail away, Luffy slumped weakly against the railing.
"Idiot! That belongs to an owner!"
"Yes!"
"Alright! Alright! Our wonderful adventure island is ruined again. Is Nami's magnetic energy storage full yet? Looks like we'll have to go to the next island to replenish it. That wandering female doctor is on that island too." Maggie looked at the limp Luffy, realizing she had given up on him.
"Full! The next island will be finished in three hours."
"There's a beautiful woman here!"
"I'll take the helm!"
"doctor!"
"I need a ship's doctor! Crew, let's set off right away!" Hearing this, Luffy, who had been thinking about it all along, immediately perked up and gave the order.
Chapter 41 Island of Disease
"Brother Chopper, are we going over today?"
“Yes! Angelia, seeing them living in misery, I must help them. They shouldn’t have to suffer like this, and those diseases should be cured.”
"Get out! Get out! Winged woman and talking reindeer, you are not welcome here."
···
"I'm so hungry! There's a restaurant over there! I want to eat meat!" Luffy staggered down the street.
"Be careful with the food on this island, Luffy. Some of it may be contaminated with viruses," Maggie advised him. After all, the island was known as the Island of Disease for a reason; it was because of an incurable disease that few people liked to stay there, and those who did were people who couldn't leave.
"It's so quiet, it feels lifeless," Nami said, looking at the listless people around her.
“Yes! This island has been plagued by various diseases, large and small, for the past eight years. Every time a traveler passes through, they just replenish their supplies and leave in a hurry. Few people like to stay on this island. I heard that an incurable virus has emerged on this island, which is why it has not been resolved and many doctors have died as a result,” Robin added.
"Robin has such a vast amount of knowledge, and Nami is so adorable," Sanji praised from behind.
"Has that doctor always been here?" Maby asked Mia, since she had passed by.
"Yes, I came here a few months ago and haven't left since. I was even filmed by reporters because I cured some diseases here. I wonder how it is now?"
"We should go to the local area and find out the situation first."
···
"His Majesty, a few more pirates have arrived. Should we detain them? One of them is the tribute that caused such a stir before."
"Yay! Offerings? Perfect. I wonder if those bodies can withstand my torture. I'll bring them here using potion number three. No one will know if a few pirates are missing." Under the dim light, various glasswares, the kind only found in laboratories, were displayed, with a shadow flickering within them.
"Be careful, don't let that raccoon dog find out."
"Yes, Your Highness!"
"Yay, since you're going to ruin it anyway, I might as well use it and try out some new creations. Once these are done, who will dare to defy me?"
···
"This tastes awful!" Luffy said, chewing with difficulty while holding up half a steak.
"I'm so sorry, sir! There's just too little meat on the island, so we have to eat this spoiled food," the shop owner said politely. Because of the staff reduction, they hadn't even hired any waiters.
Although the food in front of them had been processed to reduce its flavor considerably, it was still not very appealing.
"Ugh!" Forced to eat by Sanji's gaze, anyone who dared to waste food would have no food to eat next time.
"Brother Chopper! Come and eat this piece of food that I've prepared. It doesn't have much flavor, but it won't have any strange smell either." A sweet voice came from behind.
"Thank you, Angelia. I don't know how I would survive without you." The little reindeer beside her scratched its head and laughed.
"Chopper is still more capable. He cured another patient today. I can only assist him."
"Haha! I won't be happy even if you admire me again," the little reindeer said shyly.
"Are you not satisfied with the food in front of you, guests? I can help you fix it for just 10,000 Berries," the white-haired girl said softly, looking at the group struggling with their food.
"Ok?"
Upon hearing any complaints, they immediately lowered the price.
"No, five thousand is fine too, or even one thousand if five thousand isn't enough." The other person became incoherent as he looked at the stares of the group of people.
"Can we join you at a table?" Maggie invited directly.
"Okay!" The other person walked over with their plate and the reindeer plate, gently put them down, and picked up the little reindeer hiding behind them and put it on another chair.
When Maggie looked at her just now, the people around her already knew that the other person was the one they were looking for, so they invited her over.
"Ten thousand Berries, please!" Nami handed over the money directly. She had already inquired about their arduous medical practice. Due to the disease on the island, it had gone from a rich medicinal herb base to a barren one. Medicinal herbs were scarce, and those used to treat the disease had to be transported from elsewhere, making them extremely expensive and making their practice increasingly difficult. The local residents had seen their plight and constantly tried to force them to leave, but they remained, determined to cure the country's disease.
"Thank you so much, this will save a few more people." The other person hurriedly thanked them, and then two pairs of milky white wings seemed to appear behind their body. They waved their hand and scattered a beam of light over the food in front of them.
"Alright everyone, you can eat now," the other person said with a smile.
“It’s actually pretty good, although it doesn’t have much of a flavor,” Usopp said beside her.
"It's the purification ability that can remove all states; just now, it removed the taste from the food."
"What a cool ability! Join us!" For Luffy, who has the biggest appetite, the most unbearable thing is bad food. With her, he will never have to worry about bad food again.
He looked hesitant when he saw Luffy's sincere invitation.
"But this country..."
“Miss Angelia and Mr. Chopper, please leave this island. We can hold out until you return to this country. By then, these diseases will be no problem for you,” the shop owner advised. Many doctors have already died here from these diseases; these two young people cannot be allowed to remain here any longer.
“The cause of the disease here is minor and keeps changing, so it can’t be completely eradicated. As long as the source is removed, the locals can solve the problem on their own by cultivating medicinal herbs,” Chopper said silently from the side.
“No problem, we can help you!” Luffy agreed immediately.
"You guys?" The other person stared wide-eyed at the group of people sitting around them, looking bewildered.
"But I've noticed that none of you are doctors!"
"Cough! Cough! Cough!" Mabi choked on her food. Even with so many people, there was still a lack of professional staff.
"Haha! You're our doctors." Luffy agreed without any regard for what they meant.
"Hey! Hey! We haven't agreed yet."
Without giving them a chance to refuse, Luffy immediately agreed.
"No problem with the source, right? Every disease has its own origin. Since you've already said so, it means you understand the problem on this island. I believe we can help you solve it. We can split up this afternoon to investigate separately; hopefully, we can find some clues."
Chapter 42 Blindness, Deafness, and Voice: Purgatory
"Is it really that simple?" A group of people were bewildered by the information they had gathered. The blame was clearly pointing to the royal palace, but no navy or government officials were present to take charge.
"We've thought about going in to take a look! But the guards won't let us in."
"Does anyone know where Jack, Usopp, and George went?" Maggie asked the group after looking around; it seemed the three of them were a group.
There were too many people, so I thought they were just playing around. But now it's clearly past dinner time and they still haven't come back, which seems abnormal.
"What if they've been captured? I heard from the locals that every time pirates come here, some people disappear," Sanji warned.
“Let’s go out and find some, I’ll form my own group!” Mabi suggested first.
"Me too!" Luffy chimed in.
"Dear Robin, Nami, Mia, and Angelia, I am willing to help you clear away your suffering."
"I'll stick with the adorable swordsman!" Robin smiled.
Zoro: "..."
“I’ll team up with Chopper,” Angelia also refused.
"It seems like no one's watching the ship, but there's some treasure on board," Nami said hesitantly. Although most of it had already been packed away by Mabi, some was still kept for future use.
"I'll do it! I'll do it!" Sanji immediately jumped up and replied.
"Then I'll leave it to you!" Nami smiled at him.
"Boom!" The hotel door was blasted open, and a group of fully armed soldiers walked in.
"You are the wicked pirates! We have captured three of you, and now you are to reunite with them."
