The Holy Church is really generous.

This underground church is complete with reliefs, bronze bells, and large crosses; it's as if a church on the ground has been moved directly underground.

Ryougi Shiki, however, is an impatient person.

While Xu Ming was still observing the surroundings, she had already walked up the steps and headed directly towards the tall wooden gate, seemingly intending to force her way in.

Just then, a nun dressed in black veil silently emerged from the door and blocked Ryougi Shiki's path.

The moment Ryougi Shiki saw the nun, her expression turned icy. Gripping her dagger, she rushed forward.

"and many more!"

Xu Ming sensed something was wrong and quickly shouted to try to stop Ryougi Shiki.

But Ryougi Shiki ignored her and raised the dagger in her hand, slashing at the nun.

Just then, a fireball shot towards Ryougi Shiki from behind.

Ryougi Shiki moved with great agility, turning around in an instant, and with a swift motion, she slashed the fireball with her dagger.

The fireball made a soft "pop!" sound and vanished into thin air in an instant.

Ryougi Shiki turned around with a hostile expression and glared at Xu Ming.

What do you want to do?

It was Xu Ming who instructed Erina to launch a fireball to stop Ryougi Shiki.

Xu Ming said with a helpless expression:

“She’s clearly not in danger, and it seems she has some message to convey to us. Why are you in such a hurry to act?”

Indeed, the nun who suddenly appeared from inside the door looked like a mirage, filled with an illusory feeling that she could disappear at any moment.

Xu Ming felt no pressure from her.

"Humph!"

Ryougi Shiki sheathed her dagger, stepped aside, crossed her arms, and glared coldly at Xu Ming, adopting a "let's see what tricks you have up your sleeve" stance.

Xu Ming shook his head helplessly.

Because of his previous attempts to steal monsters, Ryougi Shiki harbored a deep prejudice against him. It was already a sign of restraint that she didn't turn around and slash him twice.

Xu Ming suppressed his distracting thoughts, looked at the nun's illusory figure, and asked softly:

"Is there anything you'd like to say to us?"

The nun said nothing, but slowly raised her hand and pointed in the direction they had come from.

Xu Ming frowned.

Does this mean they should turn back the way they came?

Before Xu Ming could answer, the illusory nun made the sign of the cross on her chest.

She seemed unable to communicate.

Xu Ming stroked his chin, trying to figure out the meaning behind the nun's actions.

Ryougi Shiki, standing to the side, curled her lips into a cold smile; she was quite pleased to see Xu Ming suffer a setback.

Xu Ming stared at the illusory image of the nun in front of him and suddenly noticed a problem.

The nun's phantom made the sign of the cross on her chest; something seemed amiss.

A normal cross gesture is symmetrical, with the upper part shorter than the lower part.

However, the cross drawn by the nun's phantom is clearly longer at the top and shorter at the bottom, which is obviously an inverted cross representing Satan!

Not only did they tell them to leave quickly, but they also drew an inverted cross, representing the devil.

Karen's final words of advice unconsciously surfaced in my mind.

"Is this church a place where dangerous demons are sealed, which is why you want us to leave?"

Xu Ming asked tentatively.

The nun's phantom gave Xu Ming a deep look before slowly disappearing into thin air.

It seems he guessed right.

"Cut~"

Ryougi Shiki muttered something in annoyance.

Xu Ming was quite glad that he had stopped her.

If she were to indiscriminately kill the nun's phantom, all these clues would be wasted.

Killing friendly NPCs might even result in a deduction in your score.

"Alright, the real adversary you're looking for is probably still inside this underground church."

"I know."

Ryougi Shiki replied curtly, her fingers unconsciously twirling the dagger.

The sharp dagger, like a silver sprite, danced between her fingers.

Chapter 264 Instant Kill

Xu Ming arrived at the church entrance and looked at the huge doorway before him.

Unidentified, pure black wood was firmly nailed together with black iron sheets and rivets.

Xu Ming couldn't help but reach out and knock twice on the door.

Clang! Clang!

It produced a metallic sound, suggesting it was made of a sturdy material like ironwood.

The door was covered with Hebrew text that Xu Ming couldn't understand, as well as some mysterious symbols that only appeared in the Bible.

These symbols faintly glowed with a white light in the darkness.

The Church of Sanctuary spared no expense in building underground churches and holding sacred ceremonies, which indeed concealed a great secret.

It seems that the 'demon' sealed inside this underground church is quite powerful.

Xu Ming placed his hand on the door and pushed it hard.

The rusty hinges suddenly emitted a screeching sound as the doors to the underground church slowly opened.

A deep, somber prayer immediately came from deep within the church.

Xu Ming subconsciously looked into the church.

The structure of this underground church is completely different from that of ordinary churches.

The interior was incredibly spacious, with no rows of benches for worshippers to pray on, and no stained glass windows on the four walls. Instead, there were murals covering the walls and even the ceiling.

The murals depict God and the angels seated beneath him at great length, and contain a large amount of Christian mythology.

Rows of stone pillars are surrounded by exquisite and lifelike angel reliefs.

On the wall directly opposite the main entrance hangs an enormous bronze cross, painted with gold and inlaid with numerous gemstones and diamonds.

However, none of the church's luxurious decorations were as astonishing as that thing in the very center.

In the very center of the church, the floor was covered with a huge magic circle that occupied one-third of the church area. The circle was made of precious materials such as gold paint and mercury, and was decorated with Hebrew and various mysterious runes.

More than a dozen golden chains of light extended from the magic circle, firmly binding a terrifying monster that was suspended above.

It was a huge fleshy ball made up of countless severed limbs and broken arms, with body parts such as arms, thighs, and heads exposed on its surface.

It was like stitching together countless mutilated corpses.

Even more terrifying, the bloody arms were waving around incessantly, the skeletal thighs were kicking and thrashing, and the mangled head was emitting piercing screams with its mouth agape.

A group of nuns dressed in white veils surrounded the magic circle below, their hands clasped together, heads bowed, murmuring prayers.

However, the situation doesn't seem too good.

The magic circle below emitted a holy white fluorescent light, but the light seemed to be dim, as if the energy supply was insufficient.

Half of the golden chains extending from the magic circle had been tainted black, and the rest were teetering on the brink of collapse.

The monster hovering above struggled incessantly, as if it would break free of its restraints at any moment.

The arrival of Xu Ming and his group seemed to be the last straw that broke the camel's back.

The monster's struggles suddenly intensified.

Click!

Two or three chains of light could not hold on and suddenly broke.

Almost simultaneously, several heads on the fleshy ball stretched out like Luffy, grabbed the nuns below, and dragged them back onto the fleshy ball.

Soon more heads emerged, like hyenas, and instantly devoured the poor nuns.

With the prayers of several nuns gone, the light from the magic circle below dimmed further, and the binding force on the fleshy ball suddenly decreased.

The situation suddenly turned into a vicious cycle.

Without anyone saying a word, Xu Ming and Ryougi Shiki immediately understood who their real enemy was.

It's truly unexpected that the reason these nuns' spirits were reluctant to ascend to heaven was to seal away this terrifying monster.

Xu Ming and Ryougi Shiki exchanged a glance and both noticed the seriousness in each other's eyes.

The enemy before them simply wouldn't allow them to fight amongst themselves.

"How about... joining forces first?"

Knowing that Ryougi Shiki had a cold personality, Xu Ming took the initiative to make the suggestion.

Ryougi hesitated for a moment, then nodded, which was considered as her agreement.

While they were talking, the monster broke free of its chains, and the white-robed nun suffered heavy losses, either being devoured or knocked away.

Xu Ming knew he couldn't wait any longer.

"One warehouse to go!"

At his command, the little piglet and Erina immediately sprang into action.
