Upon hearing this, Tony suddenly felt an impulse, but at this crucial moment, his thinking became even clearer.
"Can you let me leave here?" Tony then asked, as he needed to confirm a few things.
[You have exhausted your inquiry attempts. Please select: Join/Do not join.]
Qi Yun set a limit of only one question that each person could ask, since information is a very valuable thing, and it's not something that can be sold off like it's free.
Tony could sense that if he joined, he would go from being the boss to an employee.
However, being a wage earner is better than being dead. Moreover, if the information from the God Space is true, he still has a chance to bring his deceased relatives back to his side.
“I’ll join!” Tony said resolutely.
The moment the words left his mouth, the information in Tony's brain exploded, turning into points of light that entered Tony's body.
"Tony! Tony! Are you alright?!" Ethan kept calling out, and if Tony didn't answer soon, he might call for help.
“It’s alright.” Tony smiled and looked at Ethan. “Trust me, we’ll be out of here soon.”
"I know, but you have to protect yourself first. If you fall, we'll all be dead when we get out," Ethan said with concern.
Chapter 373 Both Cowardly and Tough: Tough in Heart, Cowardly on the Surface
"Thor!" Zhao Ling'er shouted.
Upon hearing that name, Beck was terrified. He dared to jump out because the Avengers heroes were all missing—he had specifically confirmed that—and now what?! They're back?!
Lightning flashed across the sky, illuminating the surroundings as if it were daytime. In this white light, a figure trailing purple lightning descended rapidly and then struck the center of the Five Elements Array heavily.
The massive bolt of lightning spread outwards, then bounced back upon hitting the edge of the Five Elements Array, causing secondary damage.
After a while, the light and shadow dissipated, and the few wisps of flame trapped in the Five Elements Formation vanished completely in the clash of energies.
"Cutting off the tail to survive, that's decisive." Thor straightened up and said. He actually sensed that the other party was about to show itself, but then immediately retreated.
"It's alright, I've already memorized it." Zhao Ling'er waved her hand, dispelling the magic array, and landed on the ground.
"Hey! Look who I ran into?!" Jess shouted at Zhao Ling'er and Thor who had landed, then patted Nick Fury on the shoulder next to him. In this world, Nick Fury was sent away by Thanos with a snap of his fingers after S.H.I.E.L.D. disbanded. However, like Peter, he returned about a year ago because of the Flash event.
Thor strode over, looked Nick Fury up and down, then shook his head. "You weren't very smart to begin with, and now you can't even see through the petty tricks of this kind of villain. You're really going downhill."
"You're not Thor, who are you?!" Nick Fury asked seriously. After Flashback returned, he met with the Avengers heroes and saw the Thor. The difference between the two Thors was quite obvious.
"What gives you the right to ask me this? Director of S.H.I.E.L.D." Thor didn't really want to talk to Fury anymore. After learning about Nick Fury's exploits in the main universe of the Human Alliance, he suddenly felt very disappointed in his own Nick Fury.
Although both of them are neurotic, overconfident, and take on far more responsibility than they are capable of, and like to interfere in other people's affairs, the Nick Fury in the main universe is still a bit stronger in decision-making. When he finally realized something was wrong, he decisively took Pierce and Hydra down with him, dying a worthy death.
"Alright, let's stop talking here," Zhao Ling'er said. "Fury, take us to your base, somewhere more secluded. Also, I have something to ask this guy."
After saying that, Zhao Ling'er glanced at Baker on the ground with disdain.
Nick Fury considered a few things for a moment, then compromised and took Jess, Thor, Zhao Ling'er, Peter, and the bound Baker and Peter's two friends to a nearby base.
"Wow~" Ned exclaimed in amazement as he followed Peter into the base. It matched most of his imagination of a secret base, the only thing missing was a touch of technology.
Peter nudged Ned, signaling him to shut up and just watch quietly from the sidelines.
The atmosphere in the base was extremely heavy. Through the equipment carried by Nick Fury, the remaining agents there basically knew what had happened. They were immediately filled with deep shame. So many people, yet not a single one of them saw through Baker's acting. It was truly humiliating.
"Tell me, what exactly do you want!" Thor threw Beck on the table, and then Zhao Ling'er lifted the silence effect on Beck.
"I don't know what you're talking about. I know your deeds and I admire you. If my world had heroes like you, it might not have been destroyed by the Elementals!" Beck continued, stubbornly sticking to the background he had originally created.
"Let me handle it; I'm better at interrogation," an agent said, trying to make up for some of his previous mistakes with his expertise.
"No need, I'll be faster." Zhao Ling'er walked up to Beck, pointed her finger at his forehead, and sent spiritual energy into Beck's brain through her fingertip. From now on, he could only speak what he believed to be the truth. This little spell technique was somewhat similar to a simplified version of Truth Potion.
Thor: "Who are you?"
Baker: "Mysterio Baker, head of the Anti-Stark League, a genius scientist..."
Beck went on and on, as if he wanted to list all his titles.
"Stop!" Thor frowned. "Why are you making a fake projection?"
"I want to become famous, to become a hero even more famous than Tony Stark, and I also want to obtain the high-tech products that Tony Stark left for Peter Parker, and then use that to erase Tony Stark's name from everyone's minds..." Baker explained his thoughts in detail.
"Who are the main members of this so-called anti-Tony Stark alliance?" Thor continued, as this group was targeting his friend.
Baker rattled off a long list of names again.
Thor was completely bewildered; none of the names sounded familiar to him. They were all nobody.
“These people have all been publicly mocked by Tony Stark, who called their inventions useless and child’s play,” Nick Fury added. “But that was a long time ago.”
"..." Thor was a little speechless. What was all this about? The mockery of these people probably happened at least ten years ago, and mainly before Tony became Iron Man. "What's with this Elementals thing?"
"It's a story we made up. A hero must have enemies, preferably enemies that no one can defeat, so that the hero's power can be demonstrated," Baker replied.
"Where does inspiration come from?" Zhao Ling'er asked.
"It was an old book that we found at a street stall when we were traveling in the Himalayas. It contained some of the element settings, and we made modifications based on the information in it."
Himalayas....
Thor seemed to know where the book came from. After the Ancient One "retired" in their world, Strange was obviously not as prestigious as his predecessor, and during that chaotic period, some of the books were lost, and some of them were picked up and put on stalls.
As fate would have it, Beck and his group happened to buy the book while they were in the Himalayas, and then used the images in it to designate the plan. As a result, this ritualistic behavior on the mystical side made the projection the true anchor point for the elementals. With Starrange and the Ancient One absent, these guys began to infiltrate Earth.
"The matter is clear: a bunch of ignorant fools tried to intimidate the real tiger by using its skin as a banner, and ended up attracting the real tiger." Zhao Ling'er flicked her finger, knocking Baker down, and then summarized.
“Actually, you guys and Tony have something in common,” Jess said, arms crossed, looking at Baker.
Baker turned to look at Jess, his eyes flashing with a complex light.
“That means they’re all related to the word ‘anti,’ and they can’t succeed in opposing anything.” Jess said, almost laughing. He thought of the anti-Jess armor and anti-Viktor armor that Tony was constantly updating at the Hextech Research Institute. The problem was, these two things had zero combat record so far, not a single win.
Baker fainted immediately, his last glimmer of hope shattered. He had thought Jess was trying to save him, but it turned out to be just a joke?!
After Baker passed out, Nick Fury looked at Jess and his two companions and demanded, "Who exactly are you people?!"
Thor walked over to Jess and together they tested whether the network had been restored and whether they could contact the Human Alliance.
Zhao Ling'er walked up to the dejected Peter and patted his head. "Don't blame yourself too much. You're just not wary enough. Tony Stark is the same. How could he put such a heavy responsibility on your shoulders? That's too much. At your age, you should be studying hard."
Zhao Ling'er is a member of the Human Alliance Earth Temporary Education Committee. If you count, Peter at Hex Academy is also her student. Although the Peter in front of her is from another world, out of inertia, Zhao Ling'er still subconsciously treats Peter as a teacher.
Peter lowered his head slightly, his face flushed, a little shy. Compared to Zhao Ling'er, his goddess was nothing.
Nick Fury stared in astonishment at the three people, each doing their own thing. Whatever they were doing, they all conveyed the same message: who do you think you are? I can't be bothered with you.
Huhu~
Nick Fury adjusted his mindset.
I used to know everything, but after five years, I'm back here now. I'm out of touch with reality, lack information, and have no manpower. Even a high school kid dares to ignore my calls!
These three guys who suddenly appeared out of nowhere are completely ignoring me! It's unbearable! I have to teach them a lesson!
Nick Fury looked at the three people in front of him and spoke in a deep voice.
"Excuse me, who are you three?!"
"Please? It's rare to hear that word from you." Thor looked up at Nick Fury. Since Nick Fury had already backed down, he didn't want to target this guy anymore. "I am Thor, the King of Asgard!"
It's already embarrassing enough that Nick Fury was completely fooled by a stupid guy like Baker.
"Are you sure? What about the other Thor?" Nick Fury pressed on, asking immediately.
“That’s Thor from their universe, and he’s still the eldest prince of Asgard,” Thor explained. “You’ve met him? Didn’t notice anything amiss? It seems he’s grown quite a bit.”
"Wait! Their universe?! You mean them?!" Peter snapped out of his embarrassment and asked excitedly, "Parallel universes really exist?! What about the other me? Where did you come from?!"
"The other you, you're my student, aren't you? Just like you now, you're very inquisitive, especially about parallel universes. I remember Dr. Banner was a bit annoyed by you, but thankfully the exchange didn't last long," Zhao Ling'er said with a smile.
Nick Fury's ears twitched. Dr. Banner... Bruce Banner? The Hulk? He became a teacher?!
Peter wanted to ask something more, but Zhao Ling'er patted his head and interrupted him, "Let us finish speaking first."
"Let me introduce myself, Zhao Ling'er, Vice Principal of Huaxia Cultivation Preparatory School, and member of the Human Alliance Earth Temporary Education Committee."
"Jace, Human Union Clock Tower Hextech Researcher."
Human Alliance? Hextech? Training Preparatory School?
Hearing these terms, Nick Fury had even more questions in his mind.
"As for why we are here, the reason is very simple. Your people traveled through time and space using Pym Particles and smuggled themselves into our universe. We discovered them, and after a period of friendly communication and verification, they borrowed six Infinity Stones from us to reverse the effect of Thanos' snap in your universe."
"During this period, we clashed with Thanos and Dracula, and other cosmic terrorists from our own universe. We eventually discovered that Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry under the Human Alliance, was most likely trapped in your universe by Dracula and his allies through interstellar travel."
"Therefore, we have two purposes for coming here this time: one, to take away the Infinity Stone whose loan period is about to expire; and two, to bring back a principal from our Earth's education system."
Nick Fury opened his mouth, he had many questions he wanted to ask. If it was a parallel world, shouldn't the two sides be very similar?
But he had never heard of any of these terms: this "Human Union" or "Hogwarts".
Moreover, the Earthlings from another universe have actually collected all six Infinity Stones, and they're actually going to lend them all out at once?! This is something Nick Fury simply can't imagine.
“I know what you want to ask, Thor. You explain it to him. Peter, come on, let’s go outside. Your teacher has something to ask you.” Zhao Ling’er interrupted, her expression similar to that of the Avengers heroes who had smuggled themselves over to their side and realized something was wrong.
Jess followed him out. He wanted to set up a communication point in a more open area. The sooner he could restore communication with the Avengers, the better. Moreover, once the communication point was set up, it would be helpful in finding the Avengers later.
Inside the base, Nick Fury listened to Thor's explanation, his voice trembling with shock.
We're both Earth, both in the solar system, so is the difference really that big?
The multi-human civilization over there is capable of limiting the power of the six Infinity Stones! And why does everyone over there seem so much more powerful than those here?!
If Thor wasn't lying or exaggerating, Nick Fury felt that the Avengers, along with his backup Captain Marvel, would be easy prey for Thanos.
After all, Obsidian, one of the Black Order, was capable of directly confronting the Bifrost, and it was the Bifrost over there, which sounded much stronger than the one on their side that had already been destroyed.
Shocked as he was, Nick Fury didn't completely believe Thor's words, given Beck's experience. What if these people were just upgraded versions of Beck?
Having been deceived once and then again, Nick Fury felt he might as well just kill himself, rather than waste oxygen living in this world.
Chapter 374 The True Elementals Appear!
While Zhao Ling'er was questioning Peter about the Avengers, the teacher leading Peter and his students in the hotel was nearly going crazy.
Three students have gone missing, and the group keeps encountering super monsters wherever they go. Strange things have been happening since the start of their trip!
These combined issues have caused his phone to be ringing off the hook with calls from parents!
