Before Tony Stark could finish speaking, a figure leaped out of the shadows, stood still, passed through several checks, and strode over.
“We have a preliminary understanding of this planet.” Natasha pulled a data disk from her chest and handed it over.
"The overall system's screening is fine. The air, water and other resources are almost the same as those on Earth, which meets the necessary conditions for our life to reproduce. The civilization on the planet is in a unified state, the internal ideology is good, and the moral values are similar to ours. According to the system's assessment, a global war should not occur in the short term."
"By the way, there's something I need to explain. They have their own power system, the kind that has stood the test of time. According to publicly available information on their internet, the upper limit of their power system is not low, and it involves aspects of causal prophecy. So I personally think that we should add some related countermeasure formations or equipment."
“I understand, I will submit the application to the higher-ups.” Tony Stark noted this down in his memo. “By the way, does their civilization have a name? And you’ve only seen publicly available information; is their cybersecurity really that good?”
“I don’t know. I haven’t tried to hack into the deep web or government networks. Who knows if some strange ability will detect it?” Natasha shook her head. She still remembered one of her failed missions.
How can someone have eyes that grant them true vision? Shadow Step makes it seem like the other person doesn't exist. People with this special ability are all corrupt!
"Alright, let's wait until the relevant personnel for mysticism are in place before conducting further investigations." After thinking about it, Tony Stark felt that Natasha's words made sense. Besides, Natasha was much more experienced in this area than he was. An outsider shouldn't give unsolicited advice to an expert.
"I have a question. Isn't this spot a little too close?" Natasha said, propping her head up and watching Ivan Vanko's actions with a bit of boredom.
“It’s not close anymore. The current straight-line distance is 100 light-years. As the universe continues to move, the distance will only get farther and farther away. The shortest distance will not appear again for another 3.7 million years.” Tony Stark said bluntly. “The hyperspace channels nearby are also very thin and narrow. Unless the other side has something like a rainbow bridge, it will take at least 100 years to get there. That’s long enough as a backup point for a disaster in a rudimentary civilization.”
"Um...that's not what I meant. What I meant was, isn't it too close to the city here, only about 200 kilometers away?" Natasha said somewhat awkwardly. She wouldn't gossip about something as important as a disaster backup point.
“This is the most suitable place overall. Besides, the facilities are all underground. Unless someone burrows underground and crashes into us…” Tony Stark paused for a moment, “You’re right, the defenses are still not comprehensive enough. I need to apply for another small-scale crypt lock. What if there really is a burrowing ability user who’s bored enough to come and run into us?”
Natasha watched Tony Stark become even busier and silently shut her mouth. Everyone's nerves were on edge right now, and it was easy for them to go to extremes. She should just focus on her own work and not say anything nonsense.
Chapter 410 The War Begins
Before Tony could finish typing his submission on the terminal, the entire terminal suddenly turned bright red, the color of blood.
Swish, swish.
Tony and Natasha looked up sharply and exchanged a glance. "The war has begun!"
"I'll continue checking the disaster recovery facilities. You can go back first," Tony said, suppressing his urge to immediately return to the solar system to join the battle.
There are many soldiers in the solar system who can fight, so we don't need him. However, there are very few technicians in the disaster recovery system, especially in this area, where he is very much needed now.
"I understand." Natasha quickly tidied her equipment and prepared to leave through the portal.
Before stepping into the portal, Natasha glanced at Tony, tapped her heart with her right hand, and said, "May everything go well for humanity!"
"For humanity!" Tony responded in kind, continuing to work diligently.
After crossing the teleportation array and returning to Earth from another distant star system, the first thing Natasha heard was a deafening alarm.
The entire planet is under war, and all regions are under military control.
The eyes of all the smart city management robots that have been developed in cities over the years gleamed with a red alarm light: "The war has begun. All residents, return home immediately. Residents of high-rise buildings, please go to the shelter immediately."
"Repeat, all residents, please return home immediately..."
Another robot stopped in front of Natasha and kept broadcasting messages to her.
“I am an intelligence specialist under the Clock Tower,” Natasha said, revealing her mark to the intelligent robot for it to read.
After a brief flash, the intelligent robot changed its tune: "You have been temporarily conscripted to maintain wartime order. Please follow me."
“Hey, Metal Block, I have something to report to my superiors. There’s a problem with the portal’s landing point. I need to go to the Clock Tower to participate in the battle!” Natasha patted the metal shell and emphasized.
"Your suggestion has been submitted, and Hextech Research Institute has responded." The robot's speed in leading the way did not slow down, but instead increased slightly. "All hyperspace channels around Earth's home planet have been severed, and all two-way temporary space jump points have been closed. You cannot leave this planet for the time being."
"You don't understand. What I mean is, why was I teleported here?!"
As Natasha spoke, they arrived at their destination, a commercial street. Gunshots rang out incessantly as the doors of luxury stores were blasted apart by gunfire, followed by a frenzy of free shopping.
Natasha glanced over there, then patted the metal casing. "I'll go take care of things first. Remember to submit my question to your superiors."
As she spoke, Natasha entered shadow mode, moving through the shadows with the ease of a native.
In a recent professional assessment, Natasha's rating was very close to that of a senior professional in some aspects.
With a whoosh, Natasha leaped out of the shadows and delivered an upward kick, raising the gun barrel into an L-shape.
He then flung his hands around, and invisible shadow darts destroyed the weapons in the hands of all the rioters.
"I hereby announce! You are under arrest!" Natasha said to everyone after casually knocking the man in front of her to the ground.
The man who had fallen to the ground was unwilling to accept his fate. He reached for his waist with his right hand, where there was a pistol.
The moment he made a move, Natasha, as if she had eyes in the back of her head, crushed his arm with her foot.
With a crisp, clear click, the sound was loud and clear.
"Ahhh! You've hurt civilians! I'm going to sue you!" the man cried out in anguish.
"According to wartime regulations, you have been temporarily deprived of all rights except the right to life until the postwar trial is completed." The robot's cold voice spoke words colder than its body temperature.
If it weren't for the rule that robots cannot attack human citizens unless absolutely necessary or in dangerous situations, it would have already taken action and wouldn't have needed to call Natasha over.
"Everyone down! Hands behind your heads!" Natasha roared, then, seeing the thugs barely moving, she waved her right hand, sending ripples spreading outwards.
The ripples, high and low, shaved the heads of all the standing rioters, leaving them completely bald.
“Don’t make me repeat myself!” Natasha said with a grim face.
Under the combined influence of physics and reason, the mob present was disarmed and taken away. Natasha couldn't understand what the point of robbing these jewelry and technology stores was at this time.
The global network is now under military control, and so is the distribution of supplies. Even the medicine you left behind at a small clinic when you were evacuating is more useful than these things.
"Has anyone answered my question?" Natasha turned to look at the robot leading the way.
"Currently, some areas of the home planet lack maintenance personnel. Based on the intelligent system's assessment, your landing point has been temporarily modified," the robot replied.
This is a wartime exception; normally, at least a word would be given in advance.
“Fuck!” Natasha cursed, squatting down in front of the interconnected robots. “Listen carefully, I’m almost a senior professional now. Apprentices can handle these things. I can play a much bigger role on the front lines! Understand?!”
"Natasha!" The robot's tone suddenly changed, as if it had entered a human mode, "Obey orders!"
"Yes!" Natasha stood up straight and said. She was unwilling, but since it was an order and her request had been rejected, she had no choice but to obey.
"Iron Shell, send all the chaotic areas to my personal terminal! I'll handle it!" Natasha said urgently.
Once all the problems are solved and everything is alright on Earth, I can go to the front lines.
This was Natasha's idea; she knew it was naive, but she had no other thoughts.
At the highest peak on Earth, seven legendary professionals, fully armed, stand.
"Grand Master Kiran," the last person to arrive greeted with a bow.
Kieran nodded, the large clock ticking behind him. "I know some of you want to go to the front lines, but don't forget, this planet beneath our feet is our home, our mother planet."
"Only by holding this place and protecting the lives of all the people can we possibly achieve victory."
As Kieran spoke, his gaze swept across the faces of the legendary professionals, some of whom were not members of the Clock Tower or the Celestial Court, such as the two legends of Shurima.
"I have sent you the relevant areas. Thank you all."
"For humanity! For the Human Alliance!" the crowd returned the salute.
Subsequently, the seven transformed into streams of light and scattered across the world.
Asia has the Celestial Net, the Americas have Hextech's mechanical steel defenses, Africa's Black Panther homeland's great barrier has been activated, Europe has Hogwarts' magical defense network and the banner of the Knights of the Round Table, and the Middle East has Shurima's Sun Disc.
While it can't be said that Earth is completely impregnable, it is at least fully armed.
Chapter 411 Dormammu Takes Advantage of the Situation
After the legends departed, the mage Kiran sat atop the mountain, surrounded by a mysterious and complex timeline.
Ding~
The large clock behind him suddenly rang. Kieran opened his eyes. He knew it; some guy would be tempted to take advantage of the situation and try to steal something!
In the disaster-ridden city of New York, a somber door opened on the street, from which dark energy particles burst forth, washing over the entire street.
The road surface, scattered by particles, was pulled into the gate by suction.
Suddenly, a black, mimicking giant hand grabbed the door frame and pulled it forcefully in all directions, and a figure emerged from it using the force.
When he appeared, the world changed color, the stars dimmed, and all the light was swept up into a single point, swallowed up by his figure, leaving not a trace of light.
"I told you, I'll be back sooner or later!" Dormammu uttered a somber whisper. This time, he had deliberately simulated a human form during his invasion, intending to make a quick buck and leave without attracting the Guardians' attention.
This is possible under normal circumstances. Thanos and the Dark Elves launched a full-scale attack, putting immense pressure on the entire Human Alliance and causing most people to focus their attention outside the solar system on the upcoming war. Earth's current protection level is the lowest since the Human Alliance appeared.
"I think you'll have to go back this time!"
Kieran stepped out of the portal. The spatial blockade around Earth could not stop a powerhouse of Kieran's level, not to mention that as Yang Qiu's clone, he himself possessed certain authority.
With Zilean's appearance, everything around him came to a standstill, and time on the entire street was completely frozen, with only Zilean and Dormammu able to move.
Dormammu moved his body, and as he moved, timelines were stretched open, a constraint that made him feel very uncomfortable.
"Then let's give it a try." Dormammu's deep voice made frozen time buzz.
"Give it a try." Kieran casually waved his hand, and the large clock behind him began to spin around him.
Ding~
With another chime, Zilean from the past and future were simultaneously summoned to this point in time, and the Zilean appearing from all directions surrounded Dormammu.
"It seems I misspoke. This time, you might not be able to get back."
Countless Zileans spoke simultaneously, and the overlapping sound waves crashed directly onto Dormammu.
Roar! A black wind rose, and Dormammu's body expanded more than a hundred times. As his heavy fist slammed down, the energy drawn from the dark dimension turned into ice crystals and fell, freezing and sealing everything within the ice crystals.
Kieran watched the attack that would occur in a few seconds, moving effortlessly through the air without being affected in the slightest.
Time bomb!
One bomb after another rained down on Dormammu, the time-manipulating power within them making it impossible for him to move. Before he could dispel the alien energy within him, all the bombs exploded, the shockwaves tearing through Dormammu's body and expelling the power within him to other points in time.
Dormammu immediately sprang into action, unleashing a powerful punch at Zilean in front of him.
When the fist reached Zilean's face, the clock in Zilean's eyes rapidly reversed, and Dormammu's attack stance was immediately reverted to its initial state. Then, a bunch of time bombs were thrown at Dormammu.
After this happened several times, Dormammu was completely fed up. This battle was incredibly frustrating. If he had known that Zilean's attack method was like this, he would have preferred to provoke the Celestial Emperor, at least the fight would have been more enjoyable.
As a higher-dimensional being, Dormammu could clearly sense the changes in his own timeline. Therefore, the current situation seemed to him like a turn-based game, except that the opponent was cheating.
Every time Dormammu launches an attack, the attack round is reset due to the time reversal. Just after the reset, the opponent's turn comes, and bombs are thrown over. After a round of attacks, Dormammu plans to counterattack, but the situation at the beginning repeats itself.
