Shortly after the script's evolution ended, the Ancient One arrived at Yang Qiu's home. However, the Ancient One's spirit was somewhat ethereal, as if she had overexerted herself.
"Master Gu Yi, what's going on with you?" Yang Qiu couldn't help but ask as he looked at him.
"It's alright, don't worry." Gu Yi didn't seem to care about her situation at all. "I just talked to some of the creditors and reached a harmonious agreement. They won't pursue the issue of my past use of related powers. As for the rest, those people are large, and according to the rules, they will usually only come to me, so I'll take care of this issue for you first."
A harmonious agreement was reached?
Yang Qiu was a little unsure how to put it; perhaps this harmony wasn't quite harmonious at all.
“The main reason I’m here is to tell you the truth,” Gu Yi continued, her spirit leaning back in the chair, looking quite relaxed.
"Please speak." Yang Qiu began to listen attentively. This universe is quite complex. The Ancient One served as a guardian for five hundred years, and she knew far more information than Yang Qiu did now.
"Firstly, you've seen the timeline, so you should know that Thanos is the biggest threat to us in the future. But do you know why Thanos hasn't come to Earth or gone to Asgard yet?"
"Why?" Yang Qiu asked, ready to play the straight man.
"To be honest, Thanos didn't come here just because he was afraid I would hold him back."
"Thanos and the forces he conquered are among the top in the entire universe, and his own strength is also among the best in the universe. Even with the Eye of Agamotto, I am not confident that I can defeat him one-on-one. However, if he comes looking for trouble, I can use the Eye of Agamotto to hold him off for decades. That is enough time for some of his enemies to cause trouble in the rear."
"This enemy naturally includes Odin and his Asgardian army. The biggest reason they are spared Thanos's harassment, besides being relatively remote, is the Rainbow Bridge. The Rainbow Bridge is a wonder created by Asgard through five thousand years of conquest, using various top-tier resources."
"At the time, it was directly comparable to the Space Stone, which could transport the Asgardian army to any known location in the universe in a short period of time using faster-than-light teleportation. Therefore, its effect on interstellar weapons was just a byproduct; troop transport was its primary function."
“About three hundred years ago, Odin and I reached a defensive strategic agreement. If either of us was attacked by Thanos or his forces, we would launch a counterattack simultaneously. The counterattack plan was simple: I would be responsible for dealing with or holding back the attacking enemy, while Odin would lead the Asgardian army straight into the enemy and force them to retreat!”
"This strategic defense agreement, which is open to the universe, and the number of Infinity Stones held by Earth and Asgard are important factors in our stable development to this point. Now, if the Space Stone of S.H.I.E.L.D. falls into my or Odin's hands, we will most likely not choose to accept it. The presence of two Infinity Stones on Earth at the same time is enough to cause Thanos to cause trouble."
"Our joint attack will be very costly for Thanos, but once the benefits outweigh the costs, Thanos will not hesitate to launch an attack. If a third Infinity Stone appears in the Nine Realms in the future, I personally suggest that, if we do not have sufficient strength, we send the Infinity Stone to those equally top-tier forces in the universe."
"The best-case scenario is that the six Infinity Stones fall into the hands of six different cosmic civilizations. In that case, Thanos's gains from attacking any side would be less than the costs. And he is also an immortal being with great patience, so if things are balanced out a bit, it will only take a few hundred years."
Yang Qiu nodded, indicating that he understood. This made sense. That's why the Space Stone was on Earth and the Ancient One never took it. And later in the main timeline, Asgard gave the extra Infinity Stones to collectors instead of keeping them for themselves.
“I have a question: why doesn’t Thanos chase after the Space Stone? If he gets the Space Stone, the current balance of power based on geographical advantage should be broken by at least half of it, right?” Yang Qiu said.
"It's very simple. The Infinity Stones are actually just a switch for cosmic authority. They still use the power of the universe. They're fine for normal use, but if you use them to the extreme, even if Thanos gets all six stones, he probably still won't be able to complete his plan. So even if he has the Space Stone, he won't use it much unless the other five stones have already gathered in a small area."
Gu Yi looked at Yang Qiu and said slowly, "So, don't use the Infinity Stones as an infinite energy source. Thanos will go crazy. Even if he doesn't come himself, his subordinates will cause trouble and make the person who did this realize that it was not worth it."
"I understand, I didn't have that idea either." Yang Qiu smiled and said. The Infinity Stones seemed to be a product of someone's authority. Using them as the main source of energy would be like handing over one's lifeline to someone else.
“Secondly, I’ve brought you a gift from Asgard. I’ve already spoken to Odin, and I’ll be retiring early. The one who will succeed me is the mage Kieran.” As she spoke, the Ancient One waved her hand, and layers of colorful bricks filled the entire living room.
"These are energy bricks produced by the Asgardian energy harvester, which are generally used to maintain the Rainbow Bridge. In addition, I have left you with a method to borrow power from other dimensions. You can use it occasionally when you are really short of it. Of course, if you don't want to have creditors, you can choose to extract power from dimensions that do not have a collective consciousness or have not yet produced dimensional managers."
Yang Qiu nodded to indicate that he understood. Gu Yi's current feeling was like that of a parent who was about to go on a long trip and wanted to explain everything to him.
"Besides, you don't need to follow my example. I can't manage it all by myself. Your methods are obviously better than mine. Under your influence, the Earth has developed faster than I have in the past five hundred years. I am very gratified." There was a hint of reluctance in Gu Yi's tone. Retirement is a happy thing, but leaving her post of five hundred years is also a little sad.
“I will. I’ve already made plans for the future.” Yang Qiu looked at Gu Yi and said, “Why don’t you stay a few more years and take another look around?”
"No, the responsibility has been handed over to you, and I have no reason to deal with these messy things anymore."
"By the way, my personal suggestion is that we should strengthen the development of education. There are seven billion people on Earth..."
Gu Yi said she didn't care, but in the last moments before her spirit dissipated, she kept nagging Yang Qiu, offering her own suggestions for development.
Regardless of whether the suggestion aligned with Yang Qiu's plan, Yang Qiu did not object. At this point, objection was pointless; it was best to just listen.
Chapter 113 Xiaoyu, the Underachiever
"Ding-dong~ Welcome to Old Man's Antique Shop."
"Who is it? We're closed!" Tru's voice came from inside.
"True, Dad, it's me, I'm back." Jackie Chan said, shaking off the dust from his clothes and leaving it at the doorway.
"Hey~ Jackie Chan, you're finally back~"
The old man walked out of the inner room step by step with his hands on his hips, complaining to Jackie Chan, but his concern was more evident than anything else.
"There was a small problem, so I got back late. Is everything alright at home, Dad?" Jackie Chan asked, hanging his hat on a rack to the side.
"It's nothing~"
Before the old man could finish speaking, a small figure suddenly jumped out from the side, "Uncle Long~~~ I missed you so much!"
"Xiaoyu!" Jackie Chan looked at his niece hanging around his neck with surprise. "What are you doing here?"
"I came to play with you, Uncle Jackie! Take me to the amusement park! I've been here for days, but Dad and the others haven't taken me out to play!" Jade looked aggrieved and glared at Tru from behind Jackie Chan.
Jackie Chan put Jade back on the ground and looked at his father. He didn't believe that Jade's parents had specially arranged for her to come here just to play.
“Xiaoyu came here for tutoring. Her academic grades are too poor; she’s far below the cutoff score for the preparatory school,” the old man said, shaking his head. He and Jackie Chan were both highly educated and were top figures in their time, but Xiaoyu didn’t seem to have inherited that trait.
"I didn't! I did pretty well on the test!" Xiaoyu retorted, looking up.
"What grade did you get on your final exam?" Jackie Chan asked, patting Jade's head.
Xiaoyu tossed her head, freeing herself from Jackie Chan's grasp, then pushed herself up behind her with both hands and sat on the counter. "I got an A, the highest grade!"
“The highest grade is A+, but an A is still pretty good, don’t be arrogant.” Jackie Chan smiled, but at the same time looked at his father with a hint of doubt, “Which school has such high admission scores that an A is way too far off?”
"The Huaxia Cultivation Preparatory Academy recruits students aged nine to twelve for a four-year preparatory course. The preliminary test is a written exam with a total score of 600. Xiaoyu just took the test and only scored 230. The minimum admission score is 500. Admission is based on merit."
The father looked worried. Xiaoyu wasn't very good at problem-solving, and she only got an A because of various non-exam bonus points. When it came to the actual test, all her weaknesses were exposed. And that was only because she managed to guess nine out of ten multiple-choice questions correctly.
"Two hundred and thirty points?!" Jackie Chan exclaimed in surprise. This score was far below the passing mark!
As far as he knew, Xiaoyu's exam results weren't very good, but they weren't this bad. After receiving a few test papers from his father, Jackie Chan understood. He didn't know who had set these test papers, but the hard knowledge they tested was only the most common and basic junior high school knowledge. However, the total score was only a little over two hundred points.
The scope of the other 400 points is quite exaggerated, encompassing everything from astronomy and geography to history, humanities and culture, and wilderness survival. Jackie Chan, an elite archaeologist who has traveled thousands of miles, probably only managed to get around 300 out of 400 points. No wonder Xiaoyu did so poorly on the test.
"What kind of school is this Huaxia Cultivation Preparatory Academy? The exam covers such a wide variety of things, and the name... is it related to the Heavenly Court?" Jackie Chan asked after putting down the exam paper.
The old man nodded. "This is a new school jointly established by the Heavenly Court and China. The principal is Li Xiaoyao, the vice principal is Zhao Ling'er, and the secretary is Guan Zhen. The school is open to children of Chinese nationality of school age and children of Chinese descent under the age of eighteen who cannot choose their own nationality. There are still six months until the preliminary test."
"Uncle Jackie Chan~ Uncle Jackie Chan~ Stop talking, can you take me out to play?" Jade kept waving Jackie Chan's hand.
Jackie Chan lowered his head and pondered for a moment, then smiled at Xiaoyu. Xiaoyu felt a chill run down her spine, and had a bad feeling.
"Tru, first help Jade set up a notebook for her mistakes. Every single mistake should be recorded," Jackie Chan said, looking up at Tru who was standing to the side.
"Ah!!!" Xiaoyu shouted in disbelief, "Uncle Long! You're with them too!"
Trula pulled Xiaoyu and picked her up.
"I don't want to! I don't want to! I want to go out and play!" Xiaoyu flailed her limbs, but she was smaller than Tru's belly, so her struggles were ineffective.
After Xiaoyu was pulled into the study, Jackie Chan shook his head and sat down.
"I'll contact my friends tomorrow and ask them to help me get a few dozen sets of junior high school test papers. I need to try my best to get all 200 points. As for the remaining 400 points... I'll take a look at the exam syllabus when I have time..."
"By the way, Dad, is there only one school?"
"No, there are several similar schools around the world." Dad counted on his fingers.
"Huaxia Adult Vocational and Technical Training College, Hex Vocational and Technical Training College, Russian Vocational and Technical Training College, but these three have nothing to do with Xiaoyu. They only recruit adults."
"Besides the Huaxia Cultivation Preparatory Academy, the only other option for children is the Hogwarts International Mysterious Preparatory Academy, but this academy has not yet released its admission details."
“Hogwarts? I’ve heard of it. It was a school for young people five hundred years ago. I didn’t expect the name to still be the same after all this time.” Jackie Chan shook his head as he spoke. “However, this school used to have a bad reputation. They liked to practice bloodline theory. I wonder if they still do it now.”
"Why do you care about that? Your most important thing right now is to finish reading the outline and then write a study plan!" Dad tapped Jackie Chan's head with his finger, making a "smack" sound.
"Okay, Dad, I'll go right now," Jackie Chan said, rubbing his head.
"There's one more thing—you need to register tomorrow. Someone will pick you up at eight in the morning, so don't be late," Dad reminded him.
"Register?" Jackie Chan was taken aback.
"That's right. Remember to prepare your job level, skills, and other things later, so you don't have to think about them later," the old man said, taking a sip of tea.
"But... I haven't had time to participate in the professional assessment yet." Jackie Chan scratched his head. The Heavenly Court had only been back for about a month, and he had spent a month dealing with various matters. He hadn't had time to contact the Heavenly Court yet.
"Let's register as junior professionals." That's what Dad decided.
"Why?" Jackie Chan was very puzzled. He himself would only be assessed at this level, but his father's decision still left him somewhat confused.
"The internally announced recruitment standard for teachers at Huaxia Adult Vocational and Technical Training College is junior professional or above." The old man winked at Jackie Chan.
Jackie Chan suddenly realized what was going on.
Chapter 1 The Staircase Climbing Technique Activated (Bonus Chapter for First Subscription)
The next morning at seven o'clock, when Jackie Chan woke up, Jade had already been in the backyard for some time.
She was holding a notebook in her hand, which, judging from the cover, seemed to be a notebook for reviewing incorrect problems. She figured that reviewing the parts of the incorrect problems that needed to be memorized would be more efficient if she got up early.
Although Jackie Chan doesn't know the basis for this statement, everyone says it, so perhaps there is some truth to it.
However, Jackie Chan felt that reading books upside down in the morning would not be very effective. Indeed, Xiaoyu seemed to be reciting, but she was actually in a daze and did not even notice that the book was upside down.
"Xiaoyu, come here for a second." Jackie Chan called out to Xiaoyu and waved his hand.
Xiaoyu snapped out of her daze, looked at Jackie Chan in his training uniform, turned her head to the side, and hmph!
It was as if his face practically screamed, "I'm so unhappy that you didn't help me yesterday."
"Xiaoyu, didn't you really want to learn martial arts from me?" Jackie Chan walked up to Xiaoyu and looked at her, saying.
Xiaoyu raised her head, glanced at Jackie Chan sideways, and stood there awkwardly for two or three seconds. "Don't think that I'll forgive you just because you're teaching me now."
Jackie Chan smiled and immediately assumed a fighting stance. He slowly clenched his right fist, and circles of faint milky-white energy gathered on his right fist. Xiao Yu's eyes were drawn to Jackie Chan's right fist, just like the energy itself.
Ah!
A shout rang in Xiaoyu's ears as Jackie Chan unleashed a powerful right punch forward!
As the wind raged, Xiaoyu instinctively held the book in front of her. Through the small gap, she saw all the fallen leaves and dust in the yard being swept to both sides.
A path, noticeably different from its surroundings, stretched from beneath Jackie Chan's fist all the way to the wall, where layers of plaster had peeled off, revealing a huge fist print.
With a slurp, Xiaoyu swallowed the saliva that had spilled from her shock, then tossed her notebook of wrong answers aside and jumped onto Jackie Chan.
"Uncle Long! Uncle Long! Uncle Long! Are you really going to teach me this? Really? Really?"
Xiaoyu kept repeating herself like a broken record.
Jackie Chan grabbed Jade by the collar and pulled her back down. Then, under Jade's expectant and longing gaze, he slowly said, "The school we want you to apply to is one that specializes in teaching this. There are plenty of masters there who are more skilled than me."
"Really?" Xiaoyu's eyes flashed, and her pupils rolled mischievously. "I don't believe it! Who could be more skilled than Uncle Long? Uncle Long, please teach me now!"
