"Brother, is that woman a suspect? Should we take her down first?" Vodka asked in a low voice.
Gin lit a cigarette, his wisps of hair falling in front of his eyes. "No need."
Gin sensed a genuinely naive and innocent aura emanating from the other person. Based on his experience of killing so many people, he knew that such individuals usually had considerable power behind them; otherwise, they wouldn't be able to cultivate such an aura.
"Follow her and see," Gin said immediately. If Sherry had run here, she might have gotten help from this woman, but the clothes she was holding were children's size, so the chances were slim.
Fina felt a little uneasy being stared at so openly by Vodka. She really wanted to throw a fireball at him, but the team was currently implementing a completely defensive counter-attack policy, so she couldn't make a move before the opponent did.
After walking a few steps, Fina sensed that the two men were still relentlessly following her. Frowning, she sent Frank a message: "I'm being watched. Can you come over?"
"No problem." Frank at home got excited. Finally, he had something to do. He felt like he was going to rust if he stayed any longer, so he flipped over and jumped out of the window.
Less than a minute later, Fina saw Frank, who was also dressed in black, come up in front of her.
Fina was about to say something when Frank waved his hand, "Keep going, I've found those two people."
"Don't be impulsive. The rules say you can't make the first move," Fina advised.
“I know.” Frank said, walking past Fina toward the person he perceived as the greatest threat. The man’s chilling aura reminded him of Hydra, but there was no Hydra in this world. Perhaps it was some special organization in this world?
"Big brother, big brother, someone's coming. Should we just take them down?" Vodka asked Frank in a low voice, but received no response. He turned around and found that his big brother was gone.
Frank walked up to the vodka while staring at the hidden Gin.
"What are you doing following my employer? What does this mean?" Frank tilted his head and looked at Gin, who was hiding behind the building, and asked.
???
Vodka was completely bewildered. Frank was standing right in front of him, but he hadn't looked at him once in a row.
Are you blind, with your eyes squinting upwards? Or are you looking down on me?
“Give me an explanation, or you’re not leaving,” Frank continued.
Vodka hesitated for a moment, his hand touching the gun handle. But without Gin's order, he didn't know whether he should fire now, so he simply reached out to push Frank aside.
The instant his hand touched Frank, Vodka suddenly felt himself fly up, spin twice in the air, and crash to the ground, completely stunned.
Physical damage is only part of the problem; the psychological damage is even more significant. Goodness, you can be knocked down without even knowing how or when the other person did it.
Gin, who had witnessed everything from afar, remained silent. This was a master!
During the process of taking down Vodka, Vodka was constantly blocking his line of fire, so no matter how he fired, the bullets would hit Vodka first.
Gin originally wanted to give it a try, but he came out in a hurry this time, and the gun in his hand didn't have enough penetrating power. Even if he pierced through the vodka, there wouldn't be much killing power left. Judging from Frank's performance, it would probably be a waste of time to shoot. In that case, it's better not to sacrifice the vodka for now.
As Vodka tried to get up from the ground, a pistol was pressed against his forehead. The policy of complete defense and counterattack was followed by unlimited counterattack. Vodka's action just now could not actually be considered an attack, but with Gin secretly watching, this way of disrupting the center of gravity could be considered an attack.
"Give me an explanation." Frank didn't want to make a big scene right away, and the experts who had piqued his interest had been hiding and showed no intention of making a move. Bullying a small fry wasn't very interesting, and he just wanted to finish the story.
"I...I...I..." Vodka looked around for a long time, even following Frank's gaze, but he still couldn't see his older brother.
After hesitating for a few seconds, Vodka made up a reason, "I just think she's very pretty and I want her contact information."
"If you want to pursue someone in the future, learn how to dress first. Wearing all black, is that what you call pursuing someone?"
To Vodka's surprise, after he made up a reason, Frank actually put away his pistol, left a sentence, and turned to leave.
Vodka, lying on the ground, was still dazed when Gin arrived.
"Get up," Gin said.
"Yes, brother." Vodka quickly got up from the ground. His clothes were soaked from being on the ground for so long.
Gin watched the direction Frank left in, memorizing the man's appearance. If this man was from the police or another organization, they might be in trouble, but for now, he seemed to be just a bodyguard.
"Brother, should we continue searching?" Vodka asked, wiping his face.
"Let them continue. You come back with me and find out who these two are." Gin said, turning around. His mind was still replaying the scene from earlier. If a fight had really broken out, how he should have fought, from which direction he should have attacked, how the other party would have retaliated, and so on.
Frank caught up with Fina, who was waiting for him on another street.
"So, have you started yet?" Fina asked.
“I didn’t lay a hand on them, I just scared them.” Frank patted his cloak. “But I have a feeling these people might be looking for that little girl.”
Fina nodded; she had noticed too. "I understand. Let's go back and talk about it later."
Chapter 132 Crying Little Ai (Bonus Chapter for Alliance Leader Qingheyue)
Back home, Fina immediately saw Vernon sitting on the sofa, pale-faced and panting heavily, while Frank went straight into battle mode.
"Don't be too nervous, I'm just tired." Vernon waved his hand, indicating that there were no enemies in their house.
Fina scanned the house several times with her senses, and Frank repeatedly compared the prescription on his glasses before the two of them finally relaxed.
What have you done?
Fina walked up to Vernon and asked, "Don't tell her it's because you're taking care of Ai Haibara. With Vernon's physical condition, he wouldn't even break a sweat while taking care of an unconscious patient without using any magic."
“I peeked into the timeline.” Vernon rubbed his temples and placed Kieran’s stopwatch on the table.
The stopwatch cover opened very naturally, but the hands inside were unusually unnatural, spinning incessantly like a malfunctioning motor, showing no sign of stopping.
"What...what exactly happened?" Fina asked in disbelief.
Although the stopwatch isn't some kind of priceless treasure, it's still a legendary item crafted by the mage Kiran. How could it have been damaged like this? Isn't this just an ordinary, technologically advanced planet?
Vernon frowned and organized his thoughts, "Can you imagine a ball of yarn being torn apart, and then dozens of cats playing with it for a month?"
"The timeline here is even more chaotic than that one. I overestimated myself by trying to sort out this level of timeline. The stopwatch overloaded itself to protect me. It will be fine after a while."
"Are you alright?" Fina brought over a glass of water.
“Nothing serious, but this adventure wasn’t entirely fruitless.” Vernon took the water glass. “The little girl you picked up is indeed a key figure. I’ve seen her many times in the chaotic timeline, but her name isn’t Shiho Miyano, it’s Ai Haibara.”
"Ai Haibara..." Fina murmured softly. Suddenly, a slight noise came from the room, indicating that Ai Haibara had woken up.
Fina quickly grabbed the clothes and went over. Vernon's natural energy was indeed the best choice for healing the body. It hadn't been long before Ai Haibara woke up.
Inside the room, Ai Haibara, now awake, looked at the unfamiliar surroundings and the last thing she saw after collapsing, struggling to stand up.
I can't just stay in the home of these kind people without causing them trouble.
"You just woke up, you can't get up like this, lie down properly." Fina, who came in, put the clothes aside and pressed Ai Haibara back onto the bed.
Ai Haibara, who had never received similar care except from her own sister, was a little at a loss and just looked at Fina, letting her do as she pleased.
Ai Haibara shuddered as soon as Fina took the clothes out of the bag.
Underwear is fine, but aren't outer garments supposed to be for looking cute?
The bear and rabbit patterns are one thing, but why does every pair of pants have a pom-pom-like tail on the back?
"I don't want to, I want to go home..." Ai Haibara struggled for a moment.
"Stop fooling around. There's a huge group of people looking for you outside. It's safer for you to stay here," Fina said, holding up the clothes to Ai Haibara's body.
With a slap, Ai Haibara reacted strongly to these words, slapping Fina's hand away and curling up behind her, pressing herself against the wall.
"Who are you?!" Ai Haibara demanded, as images of herself before she lost consciousness flashed through her mind.
These people knew that their name was Shiho Miyano and that someone was looking for them. Even if they weren't members of the organization, they were still connected to it.
Could it be that the organization has realized that violence is not working and has started a conciliatory policy?
“We’re not bad people…” Fina continued to approach Ai Haibara.
Hey! You think you can just say you're not a bad person and therefore you aren't?!
Ai Haibara stared intently at Fina, looking determined not to cooperate.
"Sigh." Fina sighed. "Captain! Does she meet the criteria?"
"Okay, but remember not to break any other rules!" Vernon's voice came from the living room.
Fina put the clothes aside and extended her right hand to Ai Haibara.
Brilliant points of light flew out from Fina's palm, and these points of light seemed to have a life of their own, transforming into beautiful patterns before Ai Haibara's eyes under Fina's command.
Seeing that Ai Haibara's attention had shifted slightly, Fina raised her hand, and the points of light quickly converged to form a small galaxy, with the sun and the earth rotating in proportionally reduced orbits.
"This is the galaxy we are currently in."
As Fina spoke, she raised her hand again, and the intertwined DNA strands began to spin in the air.
"This is a model of the deoxyribonucleic acid of an ordinary person, which is also an important genetic material."
Ai Haibara's face fell. She wasn't really a child. Since they knew her real name was Shiho Miyano, there was no need to explain such basic knowledge.
“As for me, my name is Fina, and I am a magician.” Fina reached out her hand to Ai Haibara again, and the light points around her returned to her body.
"A magician?" Ai Haibara tilted her head. "Is this magic? Spells?"
"It really is magic. Let me show you again. Don't be too surprised." Fina gently touched Ai Haibara's clothes.
"Ah!" Ai Haibara screamed as her clothes seemed to come alive and automatically detached from her body, while the clothes in Fina's hands were seamlessly attached to her body.
After a silence of more than ten seconds, Ai Haibara touched her clothes, which had returned to normal, and looked up at Fina, "How did you know about me?"
"Are you talking about Shiho Miyano or Ai Haibara?" Fina asked, turning on the laptop on her arm and projecting the image in front of Ai Haibara.
"Shiho Miyano is the result of the system's automatic comparison. She has the highest similarity to you. As for Ai Haibara, that's a name the captain heard while spying on the timeline."
"Spying into the timeline?" Ai Haibara fell into deep thought upon hearing this.
“That’s right.” Fina gently tidied Ai Haibara’s hair.
Thump! Suddenly, Ai Haibara knelt down, startling Fina.
When she looked up, her eyes were already brimming with tears. "Please, please save my sister."
"Get up first." Fina picked up Ai Haibara. "Don't cry, don't cry. Tell me what happened to your sister first."
"She was killed by Gin! Please, I'll do anything if she can come back to life." Ai Haibara cried uncontrollably in Fina's arms.
“Gin?” Fina patted Ai Haibara on the back.
"Yes, Gin!" With Fina's comforting words, Ai Haibara recounted the whole story from the beginning.
Her parents died in an "accidental" fire when she was very young, and her older sister is her only remaining concern.
