Upon hearing Dumbledore's words, Professor McGonagall smiled, a rare occurrence for her.
Chapter 47 Before Flight Lessons
While Professor McGonagall and Dumbledore were discussing a letter from Thomas Revol, the Headmaster's Office of the Ministry of Magic, in Hogwarts's Headmaster's office, Wentworth was sweating profusely in the Room of Requirement.
Wentworth, who was no longer as elegant as before, looked up at the top of the Room of Requirement, where a lifelike mannequin was floating upside down in the air, and a hearty smile appeared on Wentworth's face.
The following afternoon, Wentworth and a group of Hufflepuff freshmen excitedly headed to the Quidditch pitch at Hogwarts for their afternoon flying lesson, which was to be taken by Hufflepuffs and Slytherins together.
"I've heard that every year, some freshmen fall off flying broomsticks. Around this time of year, almost every college has freshmen who break arms or legs!"
"Don't worry, I heard that Mrs. Bobby Pomfrey will be waiting at the Quidditch pitch early in the morning. As soon as any of us fall off the flying broomsticks, she will immediately provide first aid!"
"Thank you, but what you said makes me even more worried!"
As the Hufflepuff freshmen walked toward the Quidditch pitch, chatting and laughing, the Hufflepuffs at the front suddenly slowed down. Wentworth looked ahead and saw a group of figures in dark green robes walking from another direction.
Among them, the most eye-catching was Cassandra, who walked at the very front and was surrounded by people like a star.
If Wentworth was already seen as a lucky charm by the entire Hufflepuff community at this point, then Cassandra was also the leader of the first-year Slytherin students.
This time, it really wasn't because of Cassandra's background, but because of the strength Cassandra displayed in yesterday's duel, which truly made her the number one Slytherin freshman.
They saw each other almost simultaneously, both stopped in their tracks, and their eyes were filled with hostility.
"Cassandra, it's so good to see you're alright! I thought you'd be resting for days!"
Upon seeing Cassandra appear on the playground, though her face was somewhat pale, she seemed to be in good spirits. Wentworth was the first to walk up to her and greet her.
Seeing Wentworth walking towards her, several Slytherin freshmen around Cassandra immediately tried to stop him, but Cassandra stopped them.
Cassandra stepped forward, facing Wentworth directly, and spoke with a mocking expression:
"What, are you disappointed to see me here?"
Wentworth waved his hands repeatedly and explained:
"You know that's not what I meant!"
Cassandra, however, held her head high and arrogantly declared:
“If you were to run out of magic, you might really have to lie in bed for a few days. But don’t forget, my headmaster is none other than Professor Snape, the undisputed Potions Master of Hogwarts! For him, this is nothing more than a potion!”
Wentworth nodded repeatedly and smiled upon hearing Cassandra's words.
“I know, I know! Your Dean Professor Snape got the herbs from our Dean Professor Sprout.”
As soon as Wentworth finished speaking, Cassandra blushed and lowered her head somewhat awkwardly. But then, as if remembering something, she raised her head and looked at Wentworth, saying:
"Wentworth, do you remember what you said?"
"Of course I remember. You decide the time and place. I, Wentworth, would never lie to you about something like this!"
Seeing that Wentworth had given her an affirmative answer, Cassandra nodded in satisfaction.
"Alright, tonight then! We can discuss the location later! I'll be waiting for you tonight!"
Wentworth, however, hadn't expected Cassandra to be in such a hurry, and said with some surprise:
"Tonight? You've only just recovered, can you handle it?"
Cassandra, however, remained unfazed and stated firmly:
"Tonight it's your turn, so don't try to find excuses to run away! And remember to bring your useless stick!"
Cassandra pointed to Wentworth's robe pocket, where a corner of Wentworth's wand peeked out.
Seeing this, Wentworth knew that saying anything would be useless, so he could only shrug and agree to Cassandra's agreement.
"No problem, if you don't mind, why should I? Tonight it is!"
After they finished speaking, they were about to walk back to Hufflepuff and Slytherin's groups respectively, but when they turned around, they were startled.
The two had each walked a distance from their respective groups, but when they turned around, they found that not only had they become surrounded by people, but these people were also eavesdropping on their conversation.
The two were immediately startled by this sudden scene!
As soon as the two turned around, the rest of the Hufflepuffs and Slytherins scattered in a swarm, heading toward the Quidditch pitch in twos and threes, with only occasional whispers drifting on the wind.
"Who do you think is more powerful between the two of them?"
"Is there even a question? It's definitely Wentworth! Didn't you hear Wentworth just now worrying that Cassandra's body couldn't handle it?"
"Nonsense, Cassandra is definitely better! Didn't you hear Cassandra just mocking Wentworth for being useless?"
"Wentworth is amazing!"
"Cassandra is amazing!"
"Do you Hufflepuffs want to fight?!"
"Fine, let's fight! You Slytherins lost last night!"
The new Hufflepuffs and Slytherins, chattering away, headed toward the Quidditch pitch.
Wentworth and Cassandra stood there blankly, not reacting for a long time.
"Wentworth...you just wait until tonight!"
Cassandra's originally pale cheeks had become much rosier. She stamped her foot, left a sentence, and ran towards the Quidditch pitch without looking back.
Seeing this, Wentworth could only smile wryly and follow Cassandra at a distance, heading towards the Quidditch pitch.
Wentworth was the last to arrive at the stadium. When he arrived, Mrs. Hodge was already waiting there, and on the lawn in front of her, many flying brooms were neatly arranged.
Wentworth hurriedly returned to the Hufflepuffs' group, where a flying broom was placed at his feet.
However, when Wentworth saw the flying broomstick beneath his feet, a chill ran down his spine.
The broom was clearly old; its hairline was receding, the broom head was uneven, and the broom itself had several visible cracks.
Wentworth suddenly realized that what everyone said before class—that every freshman would fall off a flying broomstick—might not be just a rumor.
Chapter Forty-Eight: Flight Lessons
Before the flight lessons began, Wentworth was worried that he, who was used to driving cars in his previous life, would have difficulty adapting to flying brooms.
But once I started using it, I realized that my worries were a bit unfounded!
As it turns out, using the flying broom is much simpler than driving test part two, and it's even automatic!
While some first-year wizards might be reluctant to fly on broomsticks, perhaps due to a fear of heights, Wentworth found it easy to operate this device that lacked brakes, accelerator, and clutch.
Before long, Wentworth was able to easily pilot his flying broom and fly freely in the sky. If you ignored the occasional trembling of the broom under his feet, Wentworth's flying skills showed no trace of a beginner.
This scene shocked the young wizards of the same grade once again. After all, most of the young wizards were still only at the stage of gliding off the ground, while Wentworth was already able to draw an S-shape and a B-shape in the sky.
The only one who could keep up with Wentworth's flight altitude was Cassandra, who came from Slytherin, and Cassandra's speed was in no way inferior to Wentworth's.
However, some people have noticed that Cassandra's flying broom has a pink bow tied on it, indicating that she is not using one of the old brooms provided by Madam Hodge.
Soon, everyone was staring blankly up at the sky, where Wentworth and Cassandra flew back and forth overhead, seemingly locked in a fierce confrontation.
Meanwhile, Cassandra in the air seemed to be competing with Wentworth. Wherever Wentworth flew, she followed. Every time Wentworth tried to dodge Cassandra, she would soon catch up with him again.
But Wentworth's body, after all, housed the soul of an adult, and he really didn't want to get entangled with Cassandra.
So Wentworth simply turned around and decided to leave in the opposite direction.
But Cassandra didn't seem to want to let Wentworth off so easily. She drew a semicircle in mid-air, as if trying to stop Wentworth.
Soon, the Slytherin and Hufflepuff freshmen below gasped in surprise, because the two in the air seemed to have a meeting point not far ahead, and at this speed, they would soon collide.
The two in the air quickly noticed the problem, and Cassandra shouted:
"Wentworth! Get out of my way!"
"No!"
Having already yielded once, Wentworth is not going to give way again this time.
As the distance between them drew closer, Cassandra couldn't help but shout again, a little nervous:
"Wentworth, I'm a girl!"
Hearing this, Wentworth's heart softened again. However, Wentworth did not intend to give way immediately. He urged his flying broom to speed up and avoid Cassandra.
Unfortunately, Wentworth's broom couldn't support his plans. No matter how much magic Wentworth poured into it, the flying broom only maintained a certain speed, which was clearly its limit.
By the time Wentworth realized what was happening, Cassandra's terrified face was already right in front of him, and neither of them could avoid it!
"jump!"
With a loud bang, many first-year wizards below instinctively covered their eyes with their hands. When they opened their eyes again, they saw Wentworth and Cassandra falling from mid-air.
Immediately, everyone gasped in surprise!
But just as Wentworth and Cassandra were about to crash heavily to the ground, a spell rang out from not far behind them.
"Yugadimurleviosa!"
Immediately, Wentworth and Cassandra's figures stopped a short distance above the lawn, hovering there.
Many new students turned around and saw Hogwarts Headmaster Dumbledore standing not far away, holding a wand. The new students breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing Dumbledore's arrival.
Mrs. Hodge rushed over and, after checking Wentworth and Cassandra over, confirmed that they were both alright, which put everyone at ease.
"Headmaster Dumbledore, what brings you here?"
Lady Hooch walked up to Dumbledore and asked curiously.
Dumbledore, however, looked at Cassandra and Wentworth not far away. His gaze lingered on Wentworth for a few seconds before shifting to Cassandra, and he spoke:
"Well, I think I have some questions for Cassandra."
When Cassandra heard Dumbledore call her name, she was taken aback. Although she didn't know what was going on, she quickly ran to Dumbledore's side. Then, Dumbledore actually took Cassandra and left the Quidditch pitch.
This sudden turn of events left everyone present looking at each other in bewilderment, and Wentworth, watching Dumbledore and Cassandra leave, couldn't help but have a bad feeling.
Cassandra herself was also full of doubt. She wanted to speak several times, but she held back and let Dumbledore lead her back to the headmaster's office at Hogwarts.
