"Knights, perhaps none of you know the King's real name," Merlin said loudly, stepping forward half a step. "The King's name is Arthur, his full name..."

Merlin narrowed his eyes, revealing a fox-like smile: "Arthur Pendragon."

The nobles below the stage immediately erupted in an uproar.

"Pendragoon? His last name is Pendragon?"

When did His Majesty King Uther conceive this child?

"This is impossible!"

A nobleman stepped forward and questioned, "Mr. Merlin, you say his surname is Pendragon, but as far as I know, His Majesty King Uther has no child named Arthur."

"Yes, His Majesty King Uther kept Arthur's whereabouts a secret," Merlin said. "His Majesty Arthur is the son of His Majesty Uther and Queen Iglesias, and his bloodline is undoubtedly pure. From birth, I was ordered by His Majesty Uther to take him to Sir Hector's house to raise him until recently, when Viscount Anno and I found him and brought him back." He then glanced at Anno.

Anno nodded at the opportune moment: "His Majesty Arthur is indeed of King Uther's bloodline without a doubt, and several high-ranking nobles can attest to this."

Several of King Uther's close advisors also recalled the afternoon fourteen years ago when a baby girl was secretly taken away, and they all stepped forward to testify to the existence of King Arthur.

By this point, most of the noble knights believed in King Arthur's bloodline, whether they truly believed it or merely expressed it verbally.

The square was filled with whispers.

Only one person stared in disbelief at the triumphant Arthur and the two beside him, his teeth practically grinding to powder.

That's it!

So that's why my good father wouldn't pass the throne to me!

He had already decided who his successor would be, and he himself never had a chance.

Morganfeller left Place Camelot quietly, filled with disappointment and resentment.

Chapter Thirty-Nine: The Coronation

A few days later, on an auspicious day chosen by Merlin, Arthur Pendragon was crowned in a grand ceremony.

Under the watchful eyes of many nobles, knights, and commoners, King Uther's crown was respectfully placed on Arthur's head by a maid.

Arthur's face was solemn and dignified. He wore a blue woolen cloak covered with gorgeous gold patterns and blue and white knight's armor. The sword of choice, which had become King Arthur's sword, still hung at his waist.

She solemnly declared to Britain: "From this moment on, I am the Queen of Britain, ruling over all of Britain's territory."

Then he proclaimed to the knights: "As King of Britain, Lord of the island of Britain, I declare to all the people of Britain and to all the knights that I, Arthur Pendragon, have become King, upholding the glory of chivalry, protecting the people and their dignity, carrying on the legacy, and sheltering the people within my territory."

"I will repay courage with glory, loyalty with love, and betrayal with vengeance. Glory be to Britain!"

Cheers erupted throughout the square.

Everyone knelt on one knee, offering their loyalty to the king.

Then, the court magician Merlin came out.

He was a court magician, and at this time, he had to make prophecies about the future of Britain under the new king.

Merlin stood in the center of the square, leaning on his staff.

Sitting cross-legged on the ground, Merlin soon stood up and uttered his prophecy.

"Britain will reach its peak in the hands of the King."

The crowd immediately cheered, their noise drowning out the rest of Merlin's words.

"It will also perish in the hands of the king."

Only Anno, who was by Arthur's side, had excellent hearing and caught these words.

With a furrowed brow, Anno wanted to ask Merlin right now why Britain would perish, but it was the coronation ceremony, and that was clearly inappropriate.

Arthur took the scepter and medal from the maid.

A longsword, a crown, a scepter, and medals were the best symbols of the British king's status.

An oil painter quickly painted to preserve this historic moment. King Arthur's coronation portrait will then be hung in the underground palace of Camelot, alongside portraits of King Uther and other previous kings, awaiting the admiration of posterity.

In the oil painting, King Arthur is depicted as slightly older, but appears more dignified and imposing; this step is necessary.

Once the oil painting was finished, the servants put away King Arthur's scepter and medals, while King Arthur himself, accompanied by his ministers and a few representative nobles, headed to the church in Camelot.

The coronation ceremony officially ended only after the Pope's blessing.

By the end of the day, Arthur was exhausted, both mentally and physically.

That night, Anno found Merlin and asked him many questions.

Inside the small castle outside Camelot.

Morgan Fairer summoned his son, Agravivan.

Agraven had a somewhat sinister appearance and wore a suit of black plate armor.

“Mother.” Agguiwen bowed expressionlessly.

He respected his mother, but didn't have much affection for her.

“My son, Agravan,” Morgan murmured, “now King Arthur, my dear brother, has been crowned king, and we have no chance.”

Agguwen did not respond, but simply waited quietly for what would follow.

“Since I am completely out of that position, then let’s destroy it.” Morgan Fairer’s face was filled with hatred. “You do it, my son, Agraven.”

Chapter 40: The War Resumes

Agnes looked at the somewhat hysterical Morganefeller. From an angle unseen by Morganefeller, he revealed an expression of disgust and mockery.

But no matter how much he hated her, Morganefeller was still his mother.

So Agravan nodded in agreement: "I understand, Mother. So, how should the plan be implemented?"

Morgan Fairbank pondered for a moment upon hearing this, then slowly said, "I need you to become a close advisor to my dear brother..."

Unbeknownst to the two, a small, thin figure was listening to everything from the doorway.

The following day, at the Camelot Royal Court.

The first parliament after the new king's ascension to the throne began.

Several ministers from King Uther's time reported to King Arthur on the current situation in Britain.

The young new king, sitting on the throne, frowned as he listened.

Because of the year-long vacancy on the throne, without a king, many knights were unable to handle political affairs, and the whole of Britain was in chaos. Famine had broken out in many regions, and several lords had betrayed their chivalrous code, carved out their own territories, and declared themselves kings.

Moreover, the current royal family is short of money, food, and manpower, and there are many small countries abroad, as well as Rome, Ireland, and Germanic tribes eyeing it covetously.

In short, Britain today is beset by internal and external troubles.

If it weren't for the current internal turmoil within the Roman Empire, Britain would probably already be half-eaten away by now.

It was also thanks to a few relatively loyal noble lords within the capital city of Camelot that Britain was barely kept running.

King Arthur took a deep breath, rubbed his temples, and nodded to a noble lord who had just finished reporting his work: "Thank you for your hard work. I will resolve this as soon as possible."

King Arthur pondered for a moment: "How much grain is left in the royal granaries?"

An official in charge of grain stepped forward and said, "There isn't much left, Your Majesty."

King Arthur sighed and thought carefully for a moment: "Which one is the diplomat?"

“Your Majesty.” A nobleman with white hair and beard stepped forward.

“Tell me, which small countries raided the borders during Britain’s weakness?” King Arthur’s young voice was filled with annoyance.

"Your Majesty, do you perhaps intend to...?" The diplomat looked at the young man who had just ascended the throne with surprise.

For a moment, the royal court became noisy.

"Silence!" King Arthur snorted. "I know there are dissenting voices among you, but war is our only option now."

What to do when you're short of money and food? Just rob!

Moreover, this was not just a simple war, but also Britain's revenge. These small countries had invaded Britain's borders, so they had to be prepared to bear the wrath of a lion.

"Lord Anno," King Arthur called softly.

“Your Majesty.” Anno stepped out from among the nobles and officials and looked up at his king.

"Try to gather all the forces that can fight," King Arthur's voice carried power. "My anger needs to be vented, and these nations that have violated the dignity of Britain are the best choice."

"Understood, Your Majesty." Anno nodded, a hint of relief appearing on his rugged face, and walked out of the Camelot Royal Court carrying the king's decree.

He found his deputy commander.

"Lanmarok, how many of the original Knights of the British Chalk are still in Camelot?" Anno's aura regained its sharpness. He was no longer the gentle and patient elder or teacher, but the sharpest longsword in Britain.

Chapter 41: Broken Chalk

"Commander Anno, what do you mean?!" Lanmarok's eyes lit up.

Anno nodded: "The war is likely to restart, and we need to prepare as soon as possible."

“Yes, I understand.” Lanmarok’s eyes dimmed slightly halfway through his sentence. “There aren’t many knights left in Camelot now; more than half have left. As for the rest…”

"Hmm?" Anno frowned slightly. "Just say it directly, don't hesitate."

“I understand. The rest of them have basically become victims of Camelot’s internal power struggles…” Lanmarok’s face was dark, and his voice was choked with emotion.

Anno fell silent, the veins on his wrists standing out.

"Didn't I warn you!" Anno suppressed his grief and anger. These promising young people had been reduced to political sacrifices. "Don't get involved in the power struggles among the nobles within Camelot!"

"On the battlefield, swords are used to kill, but Camelot is more cruel than the battlefield and sharper than swords!"

“I know!” Lanmarok exclaimed, somewhat agitated. “But what about you, Commander Anno? Didn’t you also abandon us in Camelot and go find that King Arthur because of some so-called struggle?”

“We all understand the danger of Camelot, but without you, how can we prevent the infiltration of those corrupt nobles?”

Anno froze on the spot, her arm trembling slightly.

Thinking of Arthur's stubborn yet youthful face, and then of the knights he had trained.

He let out a long sigh.
