“Indeed, about the Hufflepuff Cup.” He looked at his classmates. “None of us know the details of its loss.”
Scott asked, "Do you, like us, only know some of the legends about the Hufflepuff Cup?"
Cedric nodded. "We asked the fat monk, but even he didn't know anything more about the Golden Cup."
“Perhaps in the hands of Hufflepuff’s descendants?” Scott said speculatively.
He asked the Hufflepuffs, "Speaking of which, are there any descendants of Helga Hufflepuff in the British wizarding world?"
Everyone shook their heads.
"..."
Scott shrugged helplessly.
"I'm sorry, it's impossible to calculate that way."
The Hufflepuffs fell silent.
At that moment, Scott heard the voices of several Slytherins in the distance.
"Ha, I thought it was something special."
"It's just that outdated."
"Requires known conditions? Is this what you call divination?"
"If you know the known conditions, you can guess it."
"..."
Scott turned his head and saw that they were a few guys he had never met before.
Just now, while Cedric and the others were looking for Scott, these Slytherins approached from a distance.
Scott understood their purpose after a few glances.
If Scott could calculate Hufflepuff's golden cup, they would not hesitate to humbly ask him to calculate Slytherin's locket.
But when Scott said there was no way, they immediately breathed a sigh of relief and started making sarcastic remarks.
Chapter 173 A Failed Arithmetic Divination
Scott turned directly to face the Slytherin students who were mocking him.
"Hey Slytherin students, is there anything I can help you with?"
A smile played on his lips as he looked at them calmly.
"What's it to you if we're chatting here?"
Among the group, a boy, who appeared fierce but was actually quite timid, stepped forward and spoke.
“I see.” Scott nodded. “I apologize for disturbing you all.”
After saying that, he stopped looking at them.
He had no interest in dealing with those guys who only knew how to be sarcastic and didn't dare to confront him directly.
He continued to tell Cedric and the others, "Like I said, it's highly unlikely that you can calculate it based on your current knowledge. Of course, I have no objection if you want to try."
"Let's give it a try," Cedric said cautiously. "Is it alright?"
"of course can."
Scott nodded.
So they found an empty classroom.
The Slytherins wanted to follow and see what was going on, but they were stopped by several upperclassmen Hufflepuff.
"Are you alright?"
Scott glanced at the group of people facing off behind him and asked Cedric with a smile.
“It’s alright,” Cedric said with a smile. “We Hufflepuffs just don’t usually like to show off, but this time is different.”
Scott nodded in understanding.
"Speaking of which, the one that has always been the most well-hidden is your Hufflepuff Academy," he said jokingly.
Cedric laughed again. "No, we're not deliberately hiding anything."
“That makes sense,” Scott said with a smile.
There's a saying in the wizarding world that "Hufflepuff is a school that only collects trash," but the people of Hufflepuff never refute it.
Scott felt that it would be foolish to look down on them because of this.
Although Hufflepuff House has never produced any high-ranking wizards in the public eye, they are the most united and the most low-key of the four houses.
Of all the students currently enrolled at Hufflepuff, Cedric appears to be the only one who is considered a well-known and outstanding student.
But Scott knew very well that Hufflepuff had quite a few outstanding students.
For example, whether it's the Transfiguration Club or the Spell Club that Scott attends, there's never a shortage of Hufflepuff students.
Although they never liked to show off and always performed in a conventional manner, they never fell behind in their studies.
The group arrived at an empty classroom, where Scott calmed himself down and completed an arithmetic divination.
As expected, he failed.
With too few known conditions, he was unable to deduce the answer.
Faced with this outcome, the Hufflepuffs were disappointed, but they all sincerely thanked Scott.
The guys' overly sincere attitude made Scott a little embarrassed, and he even considered just telling them the answer.
After all, he knew the location of the Hufflepuff Cup in the "original book," which was in the vault of the Lestrange family in Gringotts.
But he held back.
Although this divination was done at the request of the Hufflepuffs, it was also Scott's way of doing things.
He was prepared to fail several times in public if no one asked him to.
This is a patching action.
He realized that he had become too excited after learning real arithmetic divination, and had ultimately acted too flamboyantly.
That's not good.
Scott hopes this failure will make people realize that arithmetic divination is not a panacea and even requires some stringent conditions.
This should reduce a lot of his troubles.
After all, he didn't want everyone to come to him for divination, nor did he want anyone with ulterior motives to covet his ability.
This is also the real reason why he didn't stop those Slytherins from making sarcastic remarks.
He was eager for them to spread the word so that more people would believe it.
After all, it would only benefit him if those who are unrelated to him or even his enemies looked down on his ability.
When Scott and the Hufflepuffs arrived at the Great Hall, lunch had already begun.
Scott finds Fred and George dining at a long table in Ravenclaw with some of his roommates.
Among a sea of Ravenclaws wearing "crowns," those two red-haired heads stood out.
When Scott approached the long table, the Ravenclaws who were eating stopped what they were doing.
The next second, enthusiastic applause erupted.
Scott immediately stopped in his tracks, and under everyone's gaze, he had an urge to turn around and run away.
"The Ravenclaw hero has arrived!"
Let us welcome the heroes!
Fred and George stood up and rushed over, dragging Scott to the long table.
The two men pressed Scott down by the shoulders to make him sit down, and then stood beside him to lead the applause and cheers.
Scott looked around and saw everyone smiling and staring at him, and felt increasingly awkward.
He stood up and bowed to everyone, only sitting down again after the applause subsided.
He said helplessly, "I can't take it anymore."
“No, you deserve it, Scott.”
Eddie said with a grin.
"Perhaps all Ravenclaws should thank you."
"That's right, you're a Ravenclaw hero now."
Fred put on a deliberately ingratiating look.
"The Great Diviner Scott!"
George pretended to massage his shoulder.
“You two…” Scott couldn’t help but say to the twins, “I remember you’re Gryffindors? Have you come up with some crazy idea again?”
Fred cried out that he was innocent, "Oh Merlin, we just wanted to offer our sincerest congratulations to our best friend!"
George, still holding Scott's shoulder, chimed in, "What bad intentions could we Weasley brothers possibly have?"
Scott took the knife and fork Roger handed him, glancing at them as he said, "Guess whether I believe you or not?"
The twins picked up their plates and sat on either side of him.
“We’ve come up with a good idea,” Fred said.
George nodded. "You're sure to make a lot of money."
"Fortune telling?" Scott asked directly.
"Correct."
"you're right."
The twins said.
