Those two first-year witches also used the Disillusionment Charm and the Whisper Charm, or similar methods.

If Scott hadn't possessed an extraordinary sensitivity to magic, he might not have easily noticed them even as he passed by.

Scott was momentarily at a loss as to whether to marvel at the other person's caution at such a young age, or to remark on the advanced family education of these ancient pure-blooded families.

But he knew this couldn't be blamed on the pure-blood family education, because while pure-blood students at Hogwarts weren't numerous, they weren't uncommon either. The other students in their first year were nowhere near as capable as Travers.

Although he couldn't see the target with his eyes, Scott could clearly sense from this distance that it was Travers who was using magic.

At this point, Scott was no longer able to go any further.

Because many wizards can sense magic within ten steps, Scott even judged that Travers also had this ability.

But Scott will not give up because of this.

He stood close to the stone wall of the tower, making himself blend into the wall, and then took out a small piece of ebony from the deformed lizard skin pouch at his waist.

He placed the piece of ebony in his left palm and gently waved his wand with his right hand, tapping the piece of wood.

The ebony block immediately began to deform. Soon, a small black wooden bat appeared in his palm.

Scott was already able to use this level of basic transfiguration silently, without needing to use spells.

However, the black bat he transformed into was just a normal wooden carving, a completely lifeless object.

Scott didn't stop there. He first placed the tip of his wand on the back of the bat carving and gently drew a few symbols. The ebony wand, like a carving knife, engraved the simple symbols onto the bat carving's back.

Then, Scott waved his wand slightly again, and the wood grain on the bat carving immediately faded, replaced by black down.

Scott gently raised his hand, and the shapeshifting creature, now identical to a real bat, flew away silently.

What Scott did seemed very simple, but Professor McGonagall would have been astonished if she had seen it.

Because what he did was remarkably similar to the conjecture in the paper by Bill Weasley that is being discussed at the Transfiguration Club today.

This conjecture, which seemed impossible to everyone in the club, appears to be unfolding in Scott's hands.

Although he divided this hypothetical transfiguration into several steps, the effects of transfiguration and ancient runes were achieved in separate stages, and no spells were used.

But it is still an astonishing achievement.

If Scott were to demonstrate this to the editor-in-chief of "Transformation Today," the editor would undoubtedly award him a Most Promising Newcomer Award with the utmost enthusiasm!

Unfortunately, neither Professor McGonagall nor the editor-in-chief of *Transformation Today* would witness this. Scott, too, would not rashly display what he considered to be just the beginning of his work.

He wasn't even proud of what he had done. It was simply the reward for his persistent and in-depth study and practice of the basics of Transfiguration.

Right now, Scott is looking up as the bat flies away.

The bats, almost blending into the darkness, flew silently to the corner where the two girls were, hanging upside down in the cracks between the bricks above their heads.

At such close range, even with the whisper spell, the two girls' voices were still clearly transmitted to the bat's ears.

Almost simultaneously, Scott also heard the two talking.

“Jasmine, I…I’m not sure if doing this will involve you.”

Caitlin Roll said with some concern.

“And…and, you know, I’ve asked around among the older Ravenclaw students, and Scott Trollope is not someone to mess with, plus…and he’s friends with Roger Davis…”

Wow!

Scott raised his eyebrows and widened his eyes.

What a coincidence! The other person was talking about him right now?

"Don't worry, Caitlin."

Jasmine Travers speaks in a soft, gentle tone, her voice possessing a soothing quality.

But the melodious voice was uttering words that were anything but pleasant: "Scott Trollope is nothing but a Mudblood, and this is the wizarding world. I just wanted to teach that arrogant Mudblood a lesson. He should understand that our affairs are none of his business."

Tsk.

Scott frowned upon hearing this.

I never imagined that this Miss Travers would be this arrogant in private.

“But…he didn’t do anything…didn’t he?” Caitlin Roll’s voice became somewhat timid.

“No, he has tried to speak to him more than once when we are with Jacob. That’s him, an abomination to us by a Mudblood.”

Jasmine Travers's voice grew softer.

“You said you would always help me, didn’t you, Caitlin?”

Chapter 023 Scott's habit of striking first

“Yes…yes, Jasmine.”

Scott heard Caitlin Roll's voice tremble, filled with obvious fear.

"I...I will do as you say."

From her tone, Scott could tell that she was trying to overcome her emotions and appease Jasmine Travers.

“Very good, Caitlin,” Jasmine Travers said gently, offering her praise. “Thank you. You will always be my best friend. It’s my luck to have met you.”

Caitlin Raoul's voice immediately brightened. "You're welcome, Jasmine! We really are best friends!"

Listening to her excited voice, Scott felt that he had truly seen something amazing today.

Isn't this the legendary PUA?

And Travers is really good at this! She has Caitlin Raoul firmly under her control.

“That’s great. I feel much more at ease with Caitlin’s help.” Jasmine Travers was full of sweet talk. “But it’s getting late. You need to get some rest. Let’s go back.”

“Okay, be careful on your way back, Jasmine.”

"Don't worry……"

Upon hearing this, Scott knew he had to leave.

He was standing in a spot that was the only way the two girls could come out; if he got too close, he might be discovered.

He wasn't afraid of the two little witches, but he enjoyed the feeling of being behind the scenes and didn't want to reveal his hand just yet.

As he said goodbye to the two girls, he turned and walked in another direction.

Although it was a pity that he didn't hear the key information, for him, knowing that the other party wanted to deal with him in secret was enough.

Afterwards, Scott silently went to a corridor near Ravenclaw Tower, stood in the shadows under the pillars, and watched the two girls emerge from the dark corner behind the tower.

After watching them say goodnight to each other again, Caitlin Roll stood at the tower's main entrance, eagerly watching Jasmine Travers walk toward the Slytherin common room.

Caitlin Raoul only turned and went into the tower after Jasmine Travers had left her sight.

But neither of them noticed that a tiny, almost weightless black bat was clinging tightly to the back of Jasmine Travers' sleeve with its tiny claws, swaying gently as she moved.

Instead of returning to the common room, Scott followed Caitlin Roll into the tower at a short distance.

His body became one with the tower, and he walked silently.

Caitlin Raoul had no idea that the person she and Jasmine Travertt wanted to take down was right behind her, just a few steps away.

Scott wasn't the type to retaliate after being attacked. On the contrary, he always preferred to strike first.

Scott walked up the spiral staircase behind Caitlin Roll and smiled silently.

The best way to deal with danger is, of course, to make it disappear, or to deal with the person who is trying to bring you danger.

Of course, he didn't intend to harm anyone directly. Within this magical castle, he didn't yet possess the ability to injure someone and then evade investigation.

Who knows the extent of their great headmaster's control over the castle?

He simply let the girl, who was trying to harm him, "naturally" become sick for a while.

He couldn't use spells or potions on her, because those could be discovered later. He never underestimated the influence of pure-blood families on Hogwarts.

Of course, the biggest reason for this is that their great headmaster is a very rule-abiding person. This can be seen from the "original work," where this most powerful wizard of the century is repeatedly hampered by some clowns.

Scott pulled a small, sealed glass bottle from the deformed lizard skin pouch at his waist.

He held the half-finger-long transparent glass bottle up to his eyes, shook it gently, and took a closer look.

Inside the glass bottle lay a lone syringe needle.

Using spells or potions to make someone sick might be detectable. But what if he uses a virus that wizards have never heard of?

Scott smiled again, carefully opened the sealed glass bottle, held it between his fingers, and took out his wand with his other hand, gently waving it and pointing it out from a distance.

With a faint magical fluctuation, the metal needle inside the glass bottle transformed into a black mosquito.

The Aedes aegypti mosquito flapped its transparent wings and flew out of the glass bottle, heading straight for Caitlin Roll at the top of the spiral staircase.

A few seconds later, Scott heard a soft gasp from the other person, just as he had hoped.

He stood quietly in place until the mosquito flew back, then turned into a needle and fell into the glass bottle.

He listened to Caitlin Roll's footsteps continuing upwards on the stairs, then slipped his wand back into its sheath, sealed the glass bottle, and turned to walk down the stairs.

He then made his way to the Black Lake without any obstacles, squatted down, placed the glass bottle on the ground, and once again took out his wand and waved it.

"Vanished without a trace (Evanesco)".

The glass bottle containing the needle vanished instantly under the power of magic, and Scott stood up.

Next, as he walked along the shore of the Black Lake, he mentally calculated the approximate location of the Slytherin dormitories below the Black Lake.

Fifteen minutes later, he stopped again.

He walked to the lakeside, took off one of his shoes and placed it on the water's surface. Before the shoe sank, he waved his wand and turned it into a small boat.

"It just smells a bit like feet."

Scott muttered something under his breath as he climbed onto the boat and began to paddle with his shoelaces. Ripples spread across the calm, deep lake as the charming little boat slowly glided forward.

Five minutes later, Scott stopped and let the boat drift on the lake.

By this time, he had reconnected with the bat that had followed Jasmine Travers back to the Slytherin common room.

Without hesitation, he waved his wand, transforming his robes into a suit of iron armor that covered his entire body. Then he cast a head-bubbling charm, flipped over, and leaped into the cold night waters of the lake.

Scott sank rapidly and soon saw the warm light shining through the windows of the Slytherin common room and student dormitories deep in the lake.
