The Wind and the Wings of Hogwarts

The Hufflepuff students frowned, seemingly uncomfortable with the question.
"Oh, that's a very good question."
Dumbledore, however, remained smiling and gestured for the boy who had asked the question to sit down.
“Of course I will use them,” Dumbledore said.
Amid an uproar, he raised his voice, "I know their spells and I can use them, but if I use them, the effect will probably not be very good, worse than many people."
His gaze swept around the room again, and he posed the third question of the lesson, "Does anyone know what's going on?"
Faced with this question, the students looked at each other, many of them showing disbelief.
To many students, this was very strange.
Who is Dumbledore?
He is widely recognized in the magical world as the greatest wizard of our time!
Shouldn't any spell he knows how to use be the strongest?
One student tried to answer uncertainly: "Because you're not a dark wizard and aren't good at using dark magic?"
Upon hearing his words, the others nodded in agreement.
Indeed, Dumbledore was not a dark wizard; he was once a leader of the people's rebellion against dark wizards!
But Dumbledore shook his head.
"This is not the main reason."
He looked around again, and finally looked at Scott, who hadn't raised his hand throughout the class.
“Oh, Mr. Trollope,” he smiled slightly, “what’s your opinion?”
“…Okay, Professor.”
Scott stood up somewhat reluctantly.
Chapter 210 The Approaching Exam Week
“I think it’s because of emotions, Professor.”
Scott's brief reply.
“When we use certain spells, we need strong emotions or beliefs as guidance. I think that evil spells also need to be supported by corresponding emotions in our hearts.”
“Correct answer, you are right, Mr. Trollope.”
Dumbledore nodded repeatedly.
"This is a point that is easily overlooked, but it is also a key point for wizards when casting spells."
He gestured for Scott to sit down.
"Your answer adds another 5 points to Ravenclaw's score, Mr. Trollope!"
The Ravenclaws in the classroom all clapped, and then the Hufflepuffs joined in with enthusiastic applause.
Scott sat down with a completely bewildered expression.
Is this some kind of exaggeration?!
The applause around him made him feel uncomfortable.
But Dumbledore didn't stop them; he just watched with a smile.
Fortunately, the applause stopped quickly.
Scott couldn't help but secretly breathe a sigh of relief.
Dumbledore said, "Mr. Trollope is quite right. Strong emotions are the key to using certain spells."
His voice turned low again.
"For example, the three unforgivable curses require intense hatred in one's heart and a genuine desire to harm or kill others."
The students quieted down and looked at him intently.
"When you begin learning Charms, the professors will emphasize inner resolve, coupled with a resolute wave of your wand. Of course, this is also to make the resolute action a reminder of your inner state."
Dumbledore then turned to other spells and shared some tips on how to use them.
"professor."
Sitting on the other side of the classroom, Cedric couldn't help but ask, "How do we fight back if we encounter a dark wizard who uses the Unforgivable Curse?"
“That’s a good question, and it’s the focus of this lesson.” Dumbledore looked at him approvingly.
The students' attention was immediately and firmly captured.
They were eager to know if the world's greatest wizard had a way to resist the three unforgivable curses.
"As is well known, the three unforgivable curses have no counter-curses."
Dumbledore said something disappointing first.
"If you encounter a dark wizard who uses the Unforgivable Curse, the only way is to avoid being hit by their spell."
The students were even more disappointed.
Dumbledore continued, "Unfortunately, the only options we have are to hide, to use solid objects for protection, or to run away."
At this point, another student asked, "So how did you fight the dark wizard?"
“Just like I said,” Dumbledore said, “dodge, or use an object to block the other’s spell, and then take the opportunity to counterattack.”
"We can't do that."
"Yes, if it's a dark wizard who can use the Unforgivable Curse, I'm afraid it's beyond our level to resist."
"If it's an open space, wouldn't we be unable to find anything to use as a shield?"
"Even if you choose to run away, you might not be able to escape."
The students started talking amongst themselves, and they all seemed rather dejected.
Scott was increasingly puzzled as to why Dumbledore would come to give such a lesson.
Damaging students' self-confidence?
Or should we make them face reality?
Milton asked softly, "Scott, if it were you, how would you deal with that kind of dark wizard?"
If you can't beat them, of course you'll use the door key to escape.
Scott thought.
But if it's the kind that can fight...
He thought for a moment and said to Milton, "My method doesn't work for everyone."
"How so?" Roger asked curiously.
“Smoke Screen Spell,” Scott said. “That’s a tactic that only someone with magical perception like me can use.”
“…How cunning!” Roger said enviously.
“The Smoke Curse, it certainly suits you well.” Milton was happy for Scott. “This way you’ll be much more at ease no matter what you do.”
Since Dumbledore did not stop it, the class ended amidst the students' chatter.
Dumbledore left the classroom immediately after class.
This disappointed the students and left Scott increasingly confused.
"What do you think is the reason Dumbledore is giving us this lesson?" he asked his two roommates.
"What's the reason?" Milton looked at him, somewhat puzzled. "Isn't this already in the textbook?"
Roger said, "I think Scott meant that we can learn this kind of content by reading books, and there seems to be no need for Dumbledore to come and give such a lesson."
"Perhaps he's nostalgic for the days when he stood on the podium and taught?" Milton said uncertainly.
“Look at everyone’s reaction,” Scott said again.
The two looked around.
“Everyone is a bit frustrated,” Milton said.
Roger chimed in, "Still a bit confused."
Scott said, "Because no one got the perfect answer from Dumbledore."
"There's no perfect answer to that kind of question," Roger said dismissively.
Scott then asked, "So... what is Dumbledore trying to tell us by giving us this lesson?"
“I think you’re overthinking it.” Roger stood up. “Let’s go, we should leave.”
Milton patted Scott on the shoulder. "Oh, Scott, don't get more sensitive than I used to be."
Am I really overthinking things?
Scott, somewhat bewildered, stood up and walked out of the classroom with the two of them.
He shook his head, deciding to put aside his chaotic thoughts.
Whether I'm overthinking it or not, let's just say I'm overthinking it.
I don't need to investigate everything thoroughly.
He told himself this.
Although Scott stopped thinking about it, Dumbledore's sudden appearance and teaching of a Defense Against the Dark Arts lesson to all students except for fifth and seventh year students became the hottest news and topic of discussion at Hogwarts for the week.
Scott investigated and discovered that Dumbledore taught different content to each grade, each corresponding to the curriculum progress of that grade.
In that moment, he became more and more convinced of Roger's judgment, realizing that he might have really been overthinking things.
So he completely put the matter out of his mind.
It's almost the end of November.
The first week of June is exam week at Hogwarts every academic year.
