“Of course,” Scott said with a chuckle. “You’re too nervous, Mom.”
Scott and Michael exchanged a glance, then stood up. "I'll go talk to my uncle first."
He then smiled and said to Emilia, "I only plan to stay for a few days and then return to Madrid soon. July 13th is my birthday."
Hearing him say that, Emilia's expression softened.
Scott walked into the room, picked up the deformed lizard skin bag from the desk, and glanced down at the hallway after leaving the room.
Caleb was sitting alone in the empty hall.
Scott walked down the stairs and sat down next to Caleb.
He spoke deceptively, "Uncle, I've made the arrangements. It should be safe here for now, and I'll be returning to England with the map tomorrow."
"Go back by yourself?" Caleb turned to look at his nephew. "Are you sure there's no danger?"
“Of course, it’s confirmed,” Scott said with a smile.
Caleb stared into his eyes for a few seconds before slowly nodding.
He pulled a brand new cell phone out of his pocket and handed it to Scott, saying, "You must remember to stay in touch with us."
Scott reached out and took the black phone, then looked at it in his hand.
Nokia 1011.
He had only seen pictures of this antique online in his previous life.
He looked at Caleb with some difficulty, "This... there shouldn't be a signal in the magic world."
Caleb raised an eyebrow. "You'll always find a way, whether it's a cell phone or a landline, you should be able to find a way to contact us."
Scott could only nod. "Okay, I'll remember to contact my family."
Caleb nodded in satisfaction.
“By the way, Uncle,” Scott said, fiddling with his phone, “I need you to find someone to help build a modular cabin.”
He took out a notebook and pen from the lizard skin bag, wrote down the dimensions of the cabin, tore off a piece of paper, and handed it to Caleb.
Caleb didn't ask him what he needed a cabin for; he simply took the paper, looked at it, and said directly, "You'll see it at the manor tomorrow morning."
After saying that, he started making phone calls to find people to build a wooden house overnight.
Scott didn't sleep well that night.
He was suddenly awakened from a dreamless, light sleep at 4 a.m.
After waking up, Scott had no desire to sleep again.
After washing up and getting dressed, he went straight downstairs and followed his magical senses to the place where the thief Fletcher was being held.
Chapter 258 The Thief's Items, Coffee
Ramiro and two bodyguards were guarding the entrance to the basement of the manor villa.
They clearly hadn't slept all night.
The two bodyguards looked quite energetic, but Ramiro had already started to doze off.
Upon hearing footsteps, the two bodyguards immediately looked over.
Upon seeing that it was Scott, they visibly relaxed and silently nodded to him.
Scott smiled at them, walked over to Ramiro, who was dozing in a chair, and gently patted him on the shoulder.
"Ok?"
Ramiro was suddenly startled awake. He looked up and, seeing Scott, asked in surprise, "Scott, what brings you here?"
He glanced down at his watch. "It's still so early."
Scott said, "I couldn't sleep, so I came to take a look."
He walked to the entrance to the basement and asked the bodyguard beside him, "May I go in and take a look?"
“Of course, sir.” The bodyguard nodded and gestured for him to proceed.
Scott stepped into the basement, and his bodyguard turned on the basement lights.
"Waaah... Waaah."
The thief, Fletcher, was tightly bound hand and foot with thick iron chains, his eyes were blindfolded, and his mouth was stuffed with something.
Upon closer inspection, Scott discovered that his robe and boots had been stripped off, leaving only his shirt and trousers.
It seems Uncle Caleb was quite cautious, taking advantage of the time when the thief was under the influence of the truth serum to completely eliminate the threat from him.
At that moment, Ramiro also went into the basement.
He pointed to a tattered cardboard box in the corner of the basement. "Those are all his things. I have to say, this guy has a lot of stuff hidden on him!"
Scott nodded, walked over to the cardboard box, and looked down at it.
“You really should check his stuff,” Ramiro said. “It’s all so dirty and smelly. Here, take this.”
He handed Scott an old golf club.
Scott reached out and took the box, picked up the dirty robe from the cardboard box and threw it on the ground, then used his baseball bat to rummage through the magical items inside.
A similarly filthy, deformed lizard skin bag; a grayish ring with a cracked gemstone; and a small, black lamp whose original appearance was completely unrecognizable.
These three items also exhibited noticeable magical fluctuations.
There were also some scattered and broken pieces of jewelry and ornaments, the magic remaining on them was very weak.
Scott looked at them for a while, carefully examining the magical circuits engraved on the ring and the lamp, and roughly understood the function of these two magical items.
The ring's main function is protection; it can defend against some less powerful curses, but it's actually not as effective as the Ironclad Curse.
The lamp is a dark magic item; using it can activate a powerful poison spell.
Although Scott didn't know alchemy, he still had some insight under the tutelage of his Ravenclaw mentors.
Both magical items were made using only basic alchemy and were nothing special, not to mention that they were both damaged.
As for the shapeshifting lizard skin bag, Scott was unable to retrieve its contents due to its unique feature that only its owner could open it.
Unless Fletcher dies.
Scott shook his head, ignoring the grumbling Fletcher, threw away his old baseball bat, and walked out of the basement with Ramiro.
Ramiro gave the two bodyguards a word of instruction and then returned to the lobby with Scott.
He ran to the kitchen, took two bottles of water from the refrigerator, and handed one to Scott.
"My father told me you're going back to England?" he asked.
Scott unscrewed the water bottle, took a sip, and nodded. "This matter must be resolved as soon as possible."
Ramiro gulped down several mouthfuls of water, put his arm around Scott's shoulder, and said with a grin, "My dear cousin, take me with you."
“Don’t even think about it.” Scott refused decisively and broke free from his arm.
Ramiro didn't press the matter.
He asked curiously, "Is there really such a big gap between wizards and ordinary people?"
Scott glanced at him and chose to tell the truth, "There are too few wizards, so they have to use strict secrecy laws to hide themselves, all for their own protection."
Ramiro chuckled twice. "I thought wizards looked down on ordinary people."
“Of course, there are quite a few guys who can’t see reality,” Scott said, “but sober wizards know the real reason for the Wizarding Secrets Act.”
Ramiro reacted quickly, "So, besides the descendants of ordinary people like you, there are also those in the so-called magical world who have been wizards for generations, right?"
Scott shrugged. "That's where the internal conflict among wizards lies. Most wizards value lineage more than ordinary people."
"So you've had a tough time in the wizarding world?" Ramiro patted Scott on the shoulder.
“No, I’m doing very well.” Scott smiled confidently. “Bloodline doesn’t mean anything.”
Ramiro paused for a moment, then patted Scott on the shoulder again. "Cool, no wonder you're my cousin Ramiro."
After that, he asked many more questions about wizards and the magical world with great interest.
What he was most interested in was Scott's life and studies at Hogwarts.
Scott gave only brief answers.
Finally, he reminded Ramiro not to tell anyone about it.
Ramiro patted his chest. "Of course, even if I tell everyone, no one will believe me."
"Hey, you know what? My cousin is a wizard!" He gave a demonstration, then burst into laughter.
Scott spent the morning joking around with him, which improved his mood somewhat.
At 6 a.m., Caleb came down from upstairs.
"Good morning."
He didn't ask Scott why he got up so early, but after saying good morning, he started making coffee on his own.
"Your cabin will be delivered soon."
Caleb, holding a cup of coffee, sat down on the sofa and said to Scott.
Scott nodded and pleaded, "Thank you, Uncle, but I need to shrink the cabin and take it with me because I don't want anyone to see me casting the spell."
Caleb put down his coffee cup, took out his phone, and said, "I'll have them unload the cabin at the crossroads outside."
Scott thanked him again.
At that moment, Ramiro poured two cups of coffee and brought them over.
He handed the coffee in his left hand to Scott, and said to Caleb, "Dad, you were right. Scott really didn't want to take me to see the wizarding world."
Caleb merely glanced at him without saying a word.
Scott took the coffee and smiled at Ramiro, saying, "You know, the most famous children's comic book in the British wizarding world is called 'The Adventures of Mad Muggle Martin Miguel.' If you want to have the same treatment as Mr. Martin Miguel, then you can try to break into the wizarding world."
