At the same time, green flames ignited in the fireplace.

Trolop, the King of the Stove?

Scott mentally made a self-deprecating remark.

"Good afternoon, Scott," Medea's voice came from the green flame.

"Good afternoon," Scott said to the fireplace. "Medea."

Medea laughed and said, "You really didn't go to see William. Of course, I don't think William's self-initiated methods will get you out of Hogwarts."

“I fell for it, but luckily my friend noticed something was wrong and alerted me in time,” Scott said with a laugh. “Are you implying that William’s underhanded tactics had nothing to do with you?”

“Of course not. Although William’s actions were unauthorized, I tacitly approved of them,” Medea said.

Scott was somewhat surprised. "But you don't think his little tricks will succeed."

“Of course.” Medea smiled again. “If such a little trick really works, boy, I will be very disappointed in you.”

Scott said in a helpless tone, "But you still condoned William's underhanded tactics. Is this a test for me?"

“No, I just felt there was no need to stop William from playing around with you,” Medea said. “After all, you two seem to get along quite well.”

"..."

Scott's lips twitched.

This is ridiculous!

Chapter 299 Unpredictable Attitude

“You haven’t contacted me, Scott.”

Medea's voice came from the green flames, carrying a nonchalant tone.

"It seems you still refuse to help me determine the whereabouts of Tom's Horcrux."

Scott looked up at the Ravenclaw in the painting, where his tutor was listening with great interest to his conversation with Medea.

When Scott looked at her, she simply smiled and gestured for him to continue.

“I told you, you overestimate me,” Scott said, looking at the small fireplace in his hand. “I don’t have that ability.”

Medea's soft laughter came from the flames.

This time, she didn't seem angry at Scott's rejection.

“You know, boy, I don’t necessarily have to sacrifice Tom’s soul to bring him back to life.”

She was speaking in a smiling tone, yet there was a chilling feeling about her.

Scott immediately thought of the tragic deaths of Gilderoy Lockhart and Brandon Yaxley.

Two adult male sorcerers had their magic and life force drained during Medea's magical ritual, and their bodies melted away like candles.

Scott said softly, "So... the last time you attacked the Merlin Order's headquarters, and this time you occupied Edinburgh Castle, it was all to use the enormous magical energy within these ancient buildings to sacrifice wizards' lives?"

“Yes, sacrificing the life of a wizard is also a way to speed up the recovery,” Medea said with a smile. “However… it requires quite a few wizards.”

"..."

Scott looked up at the Ravenclaw in the painting again.

The mentor remained seated in the painting, his smile unchanged, showing no sign of being moved by Medea's words.

Scott recalled what his mentor had once told him.

"I will not restrict your behavior, as long as you are not guilty of heinous crimes. I will not demand morality from you, as long as you are not utterly wicked."

"On your journey of exploring magic, I hope you will always be wise, always steadfast, and never stop."

This is what Ravenclaw said when he formally accepted Scott as his apprentice.

If Medea truly did sacrifice sorcerers on a large scale to gain life force and magic, as she herself claimed, then she would be considered utterly wicked and heinous.

But can Scott, who failed to stop her, be considered utterly heinous and wicked?

It doesn't deserve that title.

Scott laughed. "Are you threatening me, Ms. Slytherin, um... with the lives of some strangers?"

Medea said in an unchanged tone, "Who knows? Maybe my men have just captured a wizard you know."

"I still can't meet your requirements. Arithmetic divination isn't a panacea, especially not with my level of expertise."

Scott's tone was full of confusion.

"This is puzzling... How can you be so sure I can do it?"

The green flames flickered in the small fireplace, and Medea explained why she had identified Scott.

"I have consulted more than one diviner with real talent throughout Europe, and they have divined the whereabouts of those Horcruxes for me."

She paused at this point, then let out a soft laugh.

"The results... all point to you, boy."

Scott's expression changed slightly upon hearing this, and he felt an urge to swear.

He opened his mouth, then finally said in an incredulous tone, "Are you sure those fortune tellers really have real talent?"

“Of course, I tested them,” Medea said calmly.

“I’ve tried…” Scott said with particular sincerity, “I mean, I’ve tried using arithmetic divination in private, but I really couldn’t get it. You know, there’s a lack of known information.”

If it's just divination using arithmetic, he really can't predict it.

But only he himself knew that he already knew the answer.

Medea was silent for a moment, and it was unclear whether she believed him or not. She simply said, "Alright, boy, I can wait a little longer. Once you have a clue about Tom's Horcrux, please remember to tell me."

“I don’t think I can find any clues,” Scott said. “I’m just a student.”

He emphasized his status as a student at the university.

"Who knows? Maybe Tom's other Horcruxes are hidden in Hogwarts like Ravenclaw's tiara," Medea guessed casually.

Scott immediately denied it, "Unfortunately, no, otherwise our Headmaster Dumbledore would have been found long ago. He is the person with the most authority in this castle."

He added, "I suggest you question those Death Eaters and search their homes. You know, the diary, one of the Horcruxes, was originally hidden in the Malfoy family."

In short, Scott was trying to shift the blame eastward.

Medea replied, "That's exactly what I'm doing."

“It seems you’ve searched more than one place,” Scott said in surprise.

No news has been released about this matter.

This is normal, though. Death Eaters are pure-blood wizards, and those guys wouldn't publicize something that would embarrass them. They would be even more eager to hide it than Medea was.

Or... just as Scott had previously guessed, how many of the former Death Eaters have donned green robes?

“Alright, I hope you make the right choice, boy,” Medea said impatiently. “If I can’t find Tom’s Horcrux, I will choose the sinister way to fully revive him and reveal the reason.”

Is this moral blackmail?

Scott frowned; he wasn't buying it.

He said with a sigh, "Unfortunately, I am neither a savior nor a righteous ally; I am merely a wizard's apprentice."

"Oh."

Medea's soft laughter came from within the flames.

“Scott, I wish you were a Gryffindor,” she said regretfully. “Or a Hufflepuff would be fine too.”

Scott realized that she had quickly changed her mood, or rather, that the woman's impatient threats were just an act.

“Unfortunately, I think Ravenclaw is better,” Scott said.

He looked up and saw Ravenclaw in the painting smiling at him again.

"No need to be so nervous, boy."

Medea's tone began to carry a nonchalant tone again.

"Okay, talking to you has finally killed some time," she said. "Goodbye."

"..."

Scott's eyes widened.

"By the way, William's fireplace is numbered 019, and he already knows yours. I hope your friendship continues."

Medea said a few more words before ending the call.

Scott only came to his senses when he saw the green flame in the small fireplace suddenly go out.

"Are you having some questions?"

At that moment, Ravenclaw's voice came from the painting on the wall.

"tutor."

Scott turned to look at the portrait of Ravenclaw.

He sensed something was different.

The Ravenclaw lady in the portrait is still smiling, but her gaze now carries a sharpness that seems to see through everything.

“You must find Medea’s attitude unpredictable,” Ravenclaw said. “That’s exactly what she’s after.”

Chapter 300 The Ravenclaw Mentor's Satisfaction

"I have never understood Medea's purpose."

Scott said, frowning.

"During the contract challenge, she ordered two wizards to ambush me in the Forbidden Forest, and they wanted to end my life."

He began pacing back and forth in place.

"But she left me a gift when she left Hogwarts, which was very precious."
