Chapter 061 Potter's Escape, Another Way
“You should tell Dumbledore about this,” Scott said to Potter. “It’s an important lead.”
Potter immediately shook his head reflexively, "No!"
At this moment, Granger pursed his lips.
Her expression was very similar to Professor McGonagall's, and she glanced sideways at Potter. "Harry, maybe you should really listen to Trollope's advice and tell Dumbledore about this!"
“It’s nothing serious, maybe I misheard,” Potter said, sounding quite resistant.
“I don’t understand what you’re worried about, Potter,” Scott said calmly. “It’s nothing serious. You may not know, but some wizards are born with extraordinary talents.”
He deliberately looked at Potter with a look of incomprehension.
"You just understand the language of some animal. You know, Slytherin was famous for its Parsleyan speech. If that's the case, why don't we have Catman or Dogman?"
“That’s true, Harry!” said Weasley. “Slytherin is a Parseltongue; he can talk to snakes. It’s quite famous, but I forgot to tell you.”
He was clearly excited; the freckles on his face turned even redder, and he kept patting Potter's shoulder.
"Of course you can't be a Parsleyan! Parsleyan is a dark wizard's trademark!"
He laughed at himself first, as if he were telling a joke, and grinned with a somewhat comical smile.
"You're Harry Potter! The boy who lived!"
He didn't notice that Potter's expression instantly turned frightened, and his eyes were filled with unease.
Although he immediately lowered his head to hide it, he still couldn't escape Scott's gaze.
“Harry?” Granger also noticed that something was wrong with him.
"Oh, right, Wood wants to see me... about Quidditch... I need to go see him!"
Potter suddenly panicked and rambled on for a few moments. Without even saying goodbye to Scott, he turned and ran away in a hurry.
“Harry?” Weasley looked dumbfounded, staring wide-eyed at Granger. “What happened to him?”
“How should I know!” Granger frowned deeply.
"I have to go check it out!" Weasley said, and immediately chased after him.
"Harry! Ron!"
Granger shouted twice, but the two boys had already run away without looking back.
Scott watched Potter's retreating figure, a slight smile playing on his lips.
At this moment, Granger, who had been left alone by her two friends, seemed furious. Her face turned red, and she took several deep breaths before turning to apologize to Scott.
“Sorry, Trollope! Oh! They didn’t mean it, oh! I mean, they’re always so clumsy.”
Scott said calmly, “It’s alright. But I still want to remind you, or rather, please tell Potter, that hiding that from Dumbledore is not a good idea.”
Granger quickly replied, "Yes, I think so too, but..."
Scott continued, "Many things might be difficult for you, but professors often solve problems easily. Perhaps Dumbledore is just one clue away from solving what happened last night?"
The girl nodded in deep agreement. "And what happened this morning! I think there might be two rivals hiding in the school. One considers himself the heir to Slytherin, while the other looks down on him and makes sarcastic remarks."
Scott agreed with her statement and then said goodbye to her.
He hoped that Potter would confess to Dumbledore himself.
If Porter didn't do that, he wouldn't mind doing it for him.
After dinner that day, Scott did not return to his dormitory. He greeted his roommates and went straight to the empty classroom on the third floor to develop the film that had accumulated over the afternoon.
Not long after, the Weasley twins also quietly came over.
Scott used several spells to completely seal the classroom, and the three of them got to work.
Several hours passed quickly.
“I don’t think the ‘Slytherin’ will ever come,” Fred complained, slumped over his old desk.
George, looking utterly exhausted, told Scott, "It seems we're facing a cunning opponent, and this probing attempt may fail."
The three of them had been developing the film, carefully examining each frame of the small film to identify the somewhat blurry images.
This was quite a mentally taxing task, and even Scott was getting tired.
In short, they still hadn't gotten any useful clues from the film they'd collected that afternoon.
"You've worked hard," he said to the twins. "We'll try something different tonight."
He took out his pocket watch, glanced at it, and then looked at the Marauder's Map spread out on the table.
Fred also came over for a look. "Oh! Filch is guarding that spot again!"
Scott laughed and said, "From now on, we just need to keep an eye on the Marauder's Map. I'll only start the camera when anyone other than Filch appears in that area."
"Is this even possible?" George looked at him curiously. "Right now, your two puppets that operate the camera are just rigidly following the schedule."
Scott smiled confidently. "I've set up two modes for giving commands to the puppets. Right now, it's the commands I gave them with my wand, and they'll act according to time intervals. The other mode is exactly like the pieces in Wizarding Chess."
Fred also seemed very curious. "Like Wizard Chess? You talk to them to give commands? Are you going to shout it out here?"
"Of course not, don't forget, I have a little helper."
Scott reached out and touched the black raven perched on his shoulder.
"This raven can talk?"
Fred immediately perked up.
He walked over to Scott, caught the raven, and examined it closely, his eyes practically brimming with curiosity. "How did you do that?"
“Oh, you overestimate me. Of course it can’t talk.” Scott looked at Fred with amusement. “I just set its vocalizations to commands.”
Fred was deeply disappointed. "Is that how it is? I thought you could conjure up talking things, like the statue at the entrance to the principal's office."
“Thank you for thinking so highly of me, Fred.” Scott spread his hands. “My Transfiguration skills aren’t that advanced. Besides, I think that statue might be an alchemical creation, just like the door knocker in our Ravenclaw common room.”
He walked over to the old desk and sat down, pointing to the map on it with his finger. "Anyway, we can take turns resting from now on, as long as someone keeps an eye on the live point map."
At this point, he reached out and took the raven that Fred handed him.
"Of course, if you see anyone's name in that area, please remember to wake me up."
……
Chapter 062 A Terrifying Moment After Midnight
Scott turned the chairs in the classroom into three sleeping bags and then took a nap.
When he was shaken awake, it was past midnight, past 3 a.m.
"Is something wrong?" he asked softly to George, who had been shaking him awake, after sitting up to check the time.
George was so sleepy he could barely keep his eyes open. He just shook his head at Scott and quickly crawled into his sleeping bag, falling asleep in an instant.
Scott got up, took out his wand, and transformed himself back into a chair from the sleeping bag he had just used.
He yawned and walked over to the old desk and sat down.
The candle on the table was almost completely burned out. Scott propped his head up with his hand and looked at the Marauder's Map on the table.
At this point on the Marauder's Map, all the names are frozen.
Scott specifically looked for the location of Gryffindor Tower and confirmed that Ginny's name was also on the dorm room sign.
At this point, he couldn't help but doubt his own plan.
Perhaps Tom Riddell could have imagined that the message was meant to provoke him, so he kept his temper in check.
Or perhaps Ginny never mentioned this in her conversation with the diary?
In short, there seem to be too many reasons why this plan could have failed.
Scott silently noted it down in his mind and began to examine himself.
To be honest, he considers himself to be cautious by nature, but he is not really good at any scheming or trickery.
His life in his previous life was uneventful, with absolutely no need for him to resort to scheming or trickery.
Through this experience, he has fully realized his shortcomings in this area.
In just two days, the once confident plan has been adjusted several times, and the plan contained elements of wishful thinking and gambling.
Upon reflection, he suddenly realized that the plan was nothing more than some petty, unsavory cleverness.
Moreover, this was done with prior knowledge of some of the content of the "original work".
If such a plan succeeds, it can only mean that he is lucky.
Practice truly reveals the truth.
Scott sighed inwardly and decided that he would try to do it more often in the future.
Now, we can only hope that we're lucky this time.
Scott stared intently at the Marauder's Map on the table, but his mind had already wandered elsewhere.
He began to think about what he would do if the plan failed.
If all he wanted was to ensure his safety in the "locked room incident," it wouldn't be too difficult at all.
But he also has three roommates.
Roger and Milton, who are in the same grade, have been with him for more than three years, and Eddie, who is in the third grade this year, has been with him for more than two years.
The four people in their dormitory, despite their different personalities, have always maintained a harmonious relationship.
Scott didn't want anything to happen to them.
Because none of the four of them are pure-blood wizards.
Roger and Milton are of mixed race, while Scott and Eddie are pure Muggle origin.
In other words, they could all be in danger.
However, if the "original plot" remains unchanged, Scott can at most ensure his own safety.
