Chapter 080 A Test of Choice
Scott and Eddie navigated several turns in the dark dungeons beneath the castle before finally arriving at the classical music club located deep within the dungeons.
"...They supposedly chose this place so the music wouldn't disturb others," Eddie said dismissively. "If you ask me, they could have simply used magic to block out the sound, couldn't they?"
Scott ignored Eddie's complaints and walked straight to a large black door with a brass plaque, then pushed it open.
As the door was pushed open, music blared out.
There were quite a few people inside the club at that time.
Musicians dressed in different college uniforms are playing a very strange-sounding tune on different instruments.
Scott spotted Milton playing the cello immediately.
Milton does look a little unwell.
His face was very pale, his once smooth hair looked very frizzy, and he had dark circles under his eyes.
Scott frowned.
The strange music continued to play.
All the musicians, including Milton, seemed so engrossed that they didn't even notice Scott and Eddie's arrival.
Scott and Eddie went inside and closed the door behind them.
The space occupied by the classical music club looks like a small auditorium, with layers of dark velvet curtains hanging on the four walls.
Scott and Eddie walked to the wall and stood against it.
"What's with this music?" Eddie asked in a low voice.
Scott shook his head.
"Should we interrupt their performance?" Eddie rubbed his ears.
Scott asked him, "Did Milton go back to his dorm last night? Did you ask him what happened?"
Eddie shrugged. "He didn't go back until after curfew, and he left again before we got up in the morning."
Scott frowned again.
He was considering whether to interrupt their performance when the music suddenly stopped.
"Let's all take a break for a while," a tall, somewhat mature-looking male wizard said to the others.
He is Gideon Krum, a seventh-grade Hufflepuff, a bagpiper, and the current principal of the Classical Music Club.
He is also a member of the quirky sister singing group.
Scott and Eddie walked straight toward Milton.
The musicians around them, who had been discussing something, suddenly looked at them in surprise, as if they had only just noticed their arrival.
Milton.
Scott walked over to Milton.
“Scott?” Milton looked up. “I heard you went to the school hospital yesterday. Are you alright?”
“I’m fine,” Scott said, “but you look worse.”
"Feel sorry."
Milton looked down at his cello.
Scott raised an eyebrow and asked, "Was the piece you just played an arrangement of that organ piece?"
"Yes."
Milton kept his head down, looking dejected.
“I’m sorry,” Scott said bluntly, “I didn’t hear any beauty in your playing, so I don’t understand why you’re so obsessed with it.”
“This is our problem! Not the piece of music!” a Slytherin boy sitting next to Milton suddenly spoke up.
"That's right, that piece of music is the most beautiful music I've ever heard!"
Gideon Kram walked over.
"Perhaps we're not good enough." He looked quite haggard. "We couldn't capture the beauty of that piece."
"is it?"
Scott remained noncommittal.
He asked Kram directly, "Hello, Kram. Does Professor Frivy know anything about what's been happening at the Classical Music Club lately?"
“I know what you’re trying to say!” Kram said, somewhat displeased. “But Professor Flitwick knows, of course he knows!”
"I'm sorry, I understand."
Scott was very surprised, but he didn't show it on his face.
He glanced at Milton again.
“I’m sorry, Milton, we’re all very worried about you,” he said in a softening tone. “I think whatever you do, you must make sure it doesn’t affect your health.”
"Oh! Thank you, Scott, Eddie."
Milton looked up again and smiled gratefully at the two of them.
"I will be careful."
"That's good. Then we won't bother you any longer, goodbye."
And so, Scott and Eddie turned and walked out of that black door again.
“Scott?” Eddie looked at him, somewhat puzzled.
“Let’s go find Professor Flitwick,” Scott said.
So the two of them climbed up to the eighth floor of the castle without stopping and knocked on the door of Professor Flitwick's office.
The door opened by itself.
"Please come in," Professor Flitwick's voice came from inside.
"Excuse me, Professor."
Scott pushed open the door and went in first.
Professor Flitwick was sitting behind his desk, writing something with a quill pen in his hand.
“Please sit down.” He looked up and smiled at the two men. “I’ve been wondering when you would come to see me, Scott and Eddie.”
Scott and Eddie smiled and sat down on the sofa next to them.
“Roger has already come to see me,” Professor Flitwick added.
Scott said, "I'm sorry, Professor, about that..."
“Oh! I’ll explain it to you,” Professor Flitwick said.
He put down the quill pen in his hand and jumped off the chair.
“What a pity, Scott.” He waved his wand.
The teapot and teacups flew out of the closet on their own and poured three steaming cups of black tea onto the coffee table in front of the sofa.
“Oh, have a cup of tea, don’t be shy… I was referring to what happened in the Chamber of Secrets in Slytherin last time,” he said. “If I were the headmaster, I would also award you a special contribution award.”
Professor Flitwick sat down on the sofa on the other side of the coffee table, picked up his teacup, and took a sip.
“I don’t really want that honor, Professor.”
Scott also picked up his teacup.
"That would be best; adding points only helps to blur the focus."
He continued under Professor Flitwick's surprised gaze, "You know, I don't want to be associated with that malicious, joking message; I think that could lead to fierce retaliation."
He smiled. "Although the message that could so easily provoke the mysterious man did indeed come from my hand."
“Perhaps you’re right, Scott,” Professor Flitwick smiled. “Knowing when to choose is also a kind of wisdom.”
He took the initiative to say, "I know why you came to see me."
Scott nodded. "It's about the classical music club, Professor."
“I know you’re worried about your friends,” Professor Flitwick said with a hint of helplessness. “I’m worried about the students too, but there’s nothing I can do.”
Scott was completely surprised this time.
He looked at Professor Flitwick in surprise, as if he hadn't understood what he was saying.
"Oh! Sorry!"
Professor Flitwick waved his arm excitedly.
"That relates to an ancient oath, and Hogwarts Castle is witnessing that oath. Even Dumbledore cannot stop it!"
He forced another smile.
"You don't need to worry too much, that oath won't harm the students. I can guarantee that the students will be in no danger!"
Scott immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
At the same time, he heard Eddie beside him let out a long sigh.
“That oath won’t pose any real danger,” Professor Flitwick added, “but… it is still a test of choices.”
……
Chapter 081 The Ancient and Mysterious Oath
After listening to Professor Flitwick's account, Scott became very interested in the oath he mentioned.
He asked Professor Frivi, "Professor, could you tell us the details of that oath?"
But Professor Flitwick shook his head.
“I’m sorry, Scott,” he said helplessly. “Unfortunately, that’s all I know.”
Scott asked him again, "So, the only thing you can be sure of is that the oath won't cause them irreparable harm?"
