He showed off the information he had gathered to Scott and Milton.
"Slytherin's second-year student, Malfoy, has become their new Seeker because his father, Old Malfoy, sponsored the entire team with the latest flying broomstick, Nimbus 2001!"
Seeing that Scott and Milton did not respond, he then brought up the Ravenclaw Quidditch team in front of him.
"If you ask me, the most promising Quidditch star in Ravenclaw this year is Cho Chang, a third-year student. It's just a pity she wants to be the Seeker, but our Seekers won't graduate until next year. Maybe she'll be a substitute Seeker for now?"
Chapter 011 Little-Known Facts, Miss Travers
On the field, several students interested in participating in the player selection process took turns test-flying under the direction of team captain Benjamin Bruce.
From the stands, Eddie kept commenting on the students' performance.
"Ha! That kid Andre got worse grades than me in his first-year flying class, and he actually has the nerve to participate in the player selection? Look at his flying speed, which is slower than a woodcock!"
"Is that Chambers? That kid's got pretty good skills. Maybe he can fill the gap in the team's chaser position and form an unpopular pair with that jerk Roger."
"Beautiful! Look, isn't Qiu Zhangfei beautiful? If you ask me, Bruce should just make her the Seeker. Anyway, our current Seeker hasn't performed very well in previous games..."
“Thanks for the explanation, Eddie,” Scott said irritably. “Although the most useful part was just one sentence, which reminded me of a little-known fact I read in the Encyclopedia Britannica when I was a kid.”
At this point, Milton asked in a casual tone, "Scott, which of these trivia facts are you referring to?"
“Oh, of course it’s the line ‘Andrew flies slower than the Eurasian Woodcock,’ the Eurasian Woodcock is the slowest flying bird in the world,” Eddie answered smugly.
Milton blinked and turned to Scott, saying, “I think I should read some more Muggle books, like the Encyclopedia Britannica you mentioned, which might enhance my understanding of the Muggle world.”
Hearing this, Eddie was shocked. "You haven't read the Encyclopedia Britannica? Hmm... if I remember correctly, you're mixed race?"
Milton said, "Yes, my mother was a Muggle, but she never commented on my upbringing."
“Okay.” Eddie tactfully refrained from asking further questions, “but I must warn you, this series has many volumes, and it was even expanded to 32 volumes in 1985. And each one is quite thick.”
Milton, however, seemed quite enthusiastic. "Well, I've found one thing I should do during the Christmas holidays: buy 32 books."
“I recommend you read that series, Milton,” Scott said. “After reading it, you will have a much better understanding of the world we live in.”
"I will..."
“Hey, look over there!” Eddie suddenly interrupted Milton. “The Slytherin team is here too.”
Scott looked up and, sure enough, saw a group of Slytherin students in green robes carrying brooms crossing the lawn outside the pitch.
At that moment, Benjamin Bruce also saw the Slytherin students, and he led a few Ravenclaw players to meet them.
"Will they fight?" Eddie asked expectantly. He had already stood up from his seat.
“No,” Scott said calmly. “We are Ravenclaw, not Gryffindor.”
Sure enough, after Benjamin Bruce and Slytherin captain Marcus Flint negotiated, they each occupied half of the field.
After a while, Eddie complained, "It's boring. They've become more conservative in their flying since the Slytherins came. I think we should go back to Ravenclaw."
Scott agreed with his suggestion, "It's neither practice nor a game right now, so there's really no need to sit here and watch Bruce and Flint guard each other."
Milton, of course, had no objections.
The three left the stands and headed out of the stadium without informing Roger at all.
Just then, another group of Slytherin girls walked over from the other side of the lawn.
“Hey, did you guys see that blonde girl walking next to Parkinson?” Eddie suddenly became excited and lowered his voice. “Jasmine Travers is the prettiest girl among this year’s freshmen.”
Scott glanced over upon hearing this and happened to meet Jasmine Travers' eyes.
The girl was indeed stunningly beautiful, with brilliant blonde hair, deep silver-gray eyes, pale skin, and rosy lips.
When Scott inadvertently made eye contact with her, the girl did not look away, but instead smiled slightly.
She was like a little princess who had stepped out of a fairy tale, with a proud yet fragile expression in her eyes.
Next, the three Ravenclaw boys passed by the Slytherin girls in silence, without uttering a sound.
After Scott and his two companions crossed the lawn in silence, Eddie immediately became cheerful again, saying, "Didn't Miss Travers smile at you just now, Scott? You're really something, winning over Miss Travers' heart so easily."
Scott frowned at this point. He stopped and said to Eddie in a serious tone, "You'd better shut up, Eddie. That girl isn't as simple as she seems."
“I know what you’re trying to say, Scott,” Eddie said, unconcerned. “The head of the Travers family is a Death Eater who follows the Mysterious Man, and he’s still imprisoned in Azkaban?”
Scott continued walking. "You know that. Anyway, you'd better not let your jokes reach Miss Travers' ears, or you'll get yourself and me into trouble."
“Hey! You’re exaggerating.” Eddie chased after him. “You should take a good look at Miss Travers, that beautiful and fragile-looking girl, how could she…”
"Eddie."
Scott stopped again, turned around, and looked Eddie into his eyes.
"I solemnly remind you!"
“Eddie,” Milton patted Eddie on the shoulder, “you should believe Scott’s words, and don’t forget the gift he gave to Professor Flitwick.”
"A gift? That painting?"
Eddie's expression immediately changed when he realized the significance of the painting.
The painting Scott gave to Professor Flitwick has become another hot topic in Hogwarts Castle in the first few days of the semester, besides "Potter's flying car".
"You...you're telling the truth?" He still seemed somewhat incredulous. "You sensed her magic?"
“At least I don’t think any of the students at Hogwarts can fake it in front of me.” Scott glanced at him again, then turned and walked toward the castle.
Milton patted Eddie on the shoulder again and followed Scott.
"I understand, wait for me."
Eddie snapped out of his shock and quickly gave chase.
“I didn’t expect…” he said in a surprised tone, “that lady looked like a fragile piece of porcelain, yet Scott said she was not someone to mess with.”
“This is not Muggle society, Eddie.”
Scott said a few more words because Eddie was usually quite sensible.
"Regarding your little hobbies, although they are mostly harmless, you should remember when to keep quiet."
"Furthermore, that young lady is not someone to be trifled with; she..."
Scott lowered his voice and said something else, which made Eddie and Milton's expressions change at the same time.
Chapter 012 Poor Milton, Abnormality
This incident was just a minor episode in Scott's academic life, and he quickly forgot about it.
Although he saw through Miss Travers's true nature at a glance. In his perception, her magical state was completely different from that of ordinary young wizards—
A wizard who has personally killed someone will experience subtle changes in their magic.
This change cannot be hidden.
This is something Scott discovered after he awakened his magical perception and observed many wizards.
If he were to paint a picture of Miss Travers depicting magic, there would certainly be a black and red "scar" on the canvas.
It's not very eye-catching, yet it feels somewhat abrupt.
Scott didn't want to investigate why an 11-year-old girl had already killed someone.
He's not an Auror.
As long as she doesn't provoke him, he won't have the time or inclination to concern himself with things that have nothing to do with him.
However, when Scott saw that girl, he couldn't help but think of Professor Flitwick.
The professor had never killed anyone, which actually surprised Scott quite a bit.
That noon, Scott and his two roommates walked out of the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, heading to the Great Hall for lunch.
Milton?
In the corridor, Scott and Roger, noticing that Milton hadn't kept up with them, turned around and were both taken aback.
Milton was staring blankly into the distance, moving slowly and listlessly. His once smooth long hair was now disheveled, and he looked like a soulless corpse.
The Hufflepuff students who had been in class with him walked past him and couldn't help but chuckle a few times.
"Hey! Cheer up, Milton!"
Roger walked back, put his arm around Milton's shoulder, and led him forward at a brisk pace.
Scott smiled helplessly and followed.
In class just now, Professor Lockhart asked Milton to stand at the front of the classroom and play the ghost from the book "Breaking Up with the Ghost." The reason was that Milton "has the smoothest long hair in the whole classroom."
In retrospect, this classroom performance was a huge blow to Milton.
“I had a feeling about this!” Roger complained loudly. “Everything I said on the train came true, Scott! Our Professor Lockhart is definitely less of a professor than Quirrell!”
A Ravenclaw walking beside him immediately chimed in loudly, "You're right, Roger! Look at what that idiot did in class! Huh? No magical theory, no magical practice, just a stupid stage play!"
At this moment, Milton couldn't help but let out a loud sob.
“Oh, I wasn’t talking about you, Milton,” the boy quickly added. “I meant… well… anyway, your performance was still great.”
"Forget it, Dylan!" A girl stormed over angrily. "Lockhart is utterly useless, Merlin! You know, I had such high hopes for him before school started because his novels were pretty good! Poor Milton, next time you should just reject him outright!"
Upon hearing her remarks, several Hufflepuff girls passing by immediately objected.
"Kayla White! How dare you speak ill of him behind Professor Lockhart's back!"
"Professor Lockhart just hasn't adapted yet!"
"Do you know how hard Professor Lockhart works? Look at the masterpieces you've created!"
"Kayla is absolutely right! You bunch of idiots!"
Dylan quickly stepped in front of Kayla, and the group started arguing amongst themselves.
Seeing this, Scott immediately grabbed Roger and Milton and hurriedly ran away.
"I simply can't believe Lockhart has so many admirers!" Roger made a vomiting face. "Those girls must be blinded by his idiotic smile!"
"He is indeed very good at presenting himself."
Seeing that Milton seemed listless, Scott comforted him, saying, "Milton, perhaps you'd prefer to be away from everyone's sight for a while? You can go back to your dorm and get some rest."
