For example, the ominous fog that wreaks havoc across the world is not actually an evil natural phenomenon, but rather the guiding force of wandering spirits. Their goal is to reach Silvermoon City, destroy it, and thus break the seal.

"Is this... the truth behind humanity's struggle against the Evil Mist?"

"Correct."

Hodge was stunned by the news. Even with its long history and knowledge of ancient things, it was still astonished... No wonder ominous fog kept emerging from all over the world and relentlessly harassing humanity.

“But why don’t you come out and solve the problem yourselves?” Hodge asked again. “I know you are very strong.”

"We're all looking for Eden Bank. Let Evil Fog handle the help." The Martyr sighed and continued, "Since then, I thought there was no hope of the primordial evil being awakened... Humanity is really tenacious. Evil Fog is at a disadvantage in the fight."

"and after?"

“I think our young member is very talented. Even though he was sealed away, he was secretly accumulating nutrients little by little, preparing to awaken the primordial evil... Hodge, the Evil Mist that came to you probably brought rich nutrients, right? That is the result of his efforts.”

Hodge nodded, his expression turning serious.

What came to entice it was an extremely malevolent cloud of evil mist; it would probably take the sacrifice of tens of thousands of human souls to nurture such a thing. This was one of the reasons Hodge agreed to help; after all, with this thing, it was only one step away from completing the awakening ritual.

"But if it was firmly sealed, how did this ominous mist get to me..."

"It's nothing, it's just that some idiot deliberately broke the seal a while ago. Maybe I should praise him? But having a body means he's no longer one of us..."

The martyr snorted, making no attempt to hide his contempt, while glancing at the sky. Several seconds later, he finally turned his gaze back to Hodge—

"As for now, we are also willing to take a gamble, so we are allies."

"you?"

He nodded.

Then, more and more souls entered the temple of the sea god. They had all traveled from various ruins. Looking at these fewer than twenty people with their diverse faces, Hodge felt both nostalgic and astonished.

These appearances, and those dark, sinister souls—they were all native to the human world… Hodge had lived through that desolate era and recognized them all. But in the blink of an eye, time had flowed by, and now they were all just spirits, their bodies long since dead in their coffins…

But the key question is, why did they all come out?

"Weren't you guys hiding underground searching for Eden Bank? Why did you all suddenly come out to bask in the sun?"

"I just want to make sure you succeed," came the martyr's reply, "and at the same time, witness a moment when history turns backward."

Another person said, "When the primordial evil awakens and spreads desolation across the world, it symbolizes history returning to its origin."

Then, the souls, one after another, spoke of their ideals in ecstatic and impassioned voices—

“At that time, the entire human world will become weak, and we can obtain more slaves of the gods… We must come here, otherwise they will all become corpses, which would be a waste.”

"We need more slaves of the gods. Just a little more, and we'll be able to measure the depth of this world..."

"At the same time, that was also the day we arrived at Eden Bank."

Hodge breathed a sigh of relief. Its plan was already perfect and meticulous, and with these guys involved, everything could be accomplished perfectly. Their special trip to help meant that Hodge was being looked down upon, but given the major situation he had stirred up, Hodge could choose to tolerate it.

And a little bit of joy.

Hodge fell from the roof and returned to the mermaid statue, sitting down next to his other self.

"Do I need to congratulate you in advance, Anne Hodge? A peaceful era is coming," he thought to himself.

"Is that something to celebrate? Our believers will also die tragically."

"Although we live by faith, we are also the true God, and we should act recklessly, despise insignificant life, and even be high above."

Hodge continued speaking to the silent Anne—

“You should think of it this way: the deaths of believers have brought you freedom and happiness. As God and as believers, we should both be happy… I was also born for your freedom and happiness, and I am willing to sacrifice myself for you.”

“What an evil theory… Ha, I really hope you and your old fanatics all die together.” Anne’s voice was laced with laughter. “But I will stay with you to the very end, out of gratitude, and witness the conclusion…”

The sacred ground, Fortune Plaza, with its fluttering SB flags, was bustling with people, and the atmosphere was quite tense.

Although not everyone knows the specifics of the mission, the powerful individuals who were summoned all understand that a troublesome war is about to break out. War... that's not a good word.

At one corner of the square, there was a pot emitting a rich aroma.

The young magician, tears streaming down his face, spooned the still-steaming meat porridge into his mouth. His slightly plump, plain-looking lover, who brought him the porridge to comfort him, would occasionally wipe away his tears with her sleeve.

"Don't cry, you are a powerful magician conscripted by the country," the lover said.

"Ugh, this smell... it's quinoa grown around the Holy Land! And this meat... it smells so good. What if I can't eat this anymore? We haven't even had our wedding yet, and the war has already started... I'm afraid of dying."

"So, do you want to be a deserter?"

"no way."

Despite his fear of the death that comes with war, even to the point of tears, he still came here. Together with thousands of his fellow countrymen, he gripped his staff, ready to defend his homeland.

He's already quite enviable, at least he's a local from the capital and has such a virtuous lover...

Most of the others were chewing on the uniformly distributed military rations. Although they tasted good and were filling, they were missing the seasoning called "love"... They were surrounded by envious gazes.

Just then—

The strongest paladin of the Holy Coffin Kingdom, her silver helmet reflecting the winter sun, appeared in the square accompanied by several maids dressed in holy robes. She had come to appease the troops and was distributing sweets she had personally funded to all the conscripted warriors.

Although she wasn't good at saying inspiring words, she would always say "thank you" after handing the candy to the soldiers. A honey candy after a bland military ration, especially one personally distributed by B, brought tears to many eyes.

Only by witnessing it firsthand can one truly understand how arduous it is for such a beautiful and vibrant young woman to be carrying the banner of national military power...

"Your Excellency, may I ask, who is the enemy we are facing?" someone couldn't help but ask.

Sensing the many curious gazes, B stopped and, with a sigh, revealed the answer—

"Primordial evil".

"That is?"

"Once the summoning is successful, it will cause the world to become desolate, and you and I will be wiped out in an instant."

This was not news that would be easily accepted. Her hand rested on the hilt of her sword, ready to unleash the might of the divine sword to appease the troops. But to her surprise, almost no one wavered; only a few sighs were heard.

"No wonder they called us here; it turns out there really was such great danger."

"Indeed, only those of us beneath the statue of the Coffin Bearer have the means and the courage to try to stop this calamity."

Many proud yet melancholic pronouncements were uttered by the mages. In the past, they were the ones who stood behind the warriors chanting incantations, but that did not mean they lacked courage.

The sheer fighting spirit of a thousand men sent chills down her spine, even for someone as experienced as her. A profound sense of pride bombarded her soul. Truly, the people of the Holy Coffin Kingdom were not weaklings.

Thinking of this, her gaze fell on the monument of great significance in the middle of the square.

The inscription engraved on it still shines brightly today: "Wealth brings death."

"To those who carried the coffin, thank you for bestowing strength upon this nation and for giving us, insignificant human beings, courage. We will defend the prosperity and culture you have laid down."

"Get out of the way!"

Just as the people of the Holy Coffin Kingdom were in high spirits, preparing to sing the name of the god who sent off the coffin and recite the sacred texts with a thousand people, an evil fluctuation came from the space.

Initially, within a black spatial rift, the pupil of a dragon appeared.

It was enormous; its eyeballs alone were as tall as half an adult.

Its head was covered in scales and sharp spikes, and it exuded a potent venom. This was the Evil Dragon, a supreme race whose fame resounded throughout the heavens and earth. Then, Daniel stepped out of the rift, carrying an aura that could devour the world.

But atop its proud head stood a much smaller girl, revered as the Queen of the Banshees. Her violet skirt billowed, her banshee wings spread behind her, and her signature massive double-bladed axe rested on her shoulder.

This scene extinguished the passion that had just been ignited among the warriors of the Holy Coffin Kingdom.

Immediately afterwards, they all raised their staffs, facing Melia with extreme vigilance.

"What? Is this how you treat your allies?" she retorted with a mocking laugh.

"You've arrived."

B immediately went to meet them, and at the same time, the archbishop who was commanding the holy cultists also strode over from the side. He told the tense warriors that Melia was not an enemy, but an ally.

"I have arrived as promised, bringing with me the power of the Chaos Lands. The thirteen great sages, three professors, and twelve hundred outstanding mages have all arrived. Of course, Daniel and I are also here."

"Thank you for arriving as scheduled."

Inside the portal, powerful individuals continuously emerged.

There are many humans, but they all possess an arrogant and mad spirit, making them more like sinners than warriors.

Secondly, most of them are demi-humans, people with mixed bloodlines who have been abandoned by the world. The Chaos Land provided them with shelter and a place to live. Among them, there are also noble pure-blooded beings. There is no difference in bloodline, only in strength.

More conspicuous are the various kinds of demons. This group of demons, along with devils and ghosts of the night, are considered the three great weapons for scaring children.

"What about other countries? Have they sent anyone?" Melia asked.

“A few adventurers have arrived sporadically, but the large army has not yet come,” B replied.

Neither of them displayed the usual formalities of the ruling class; they spoke as equals, their tone even. If it weren't for the coffin bearers who had brought them together a few times, and even led them to fight side-by-side, this alliance would never have gone so smoothly.

"How come you're even later than us... How annoying."

"There's nothing we can do. It's probably because we encountered the Evil Mist... According to our intelligence, small groups of Evil Mist with low levels of evil have appeared around various outflow points, but they're not a big problem."

Melia beckoned with her finger and pulled B's ear close to her mouth. The others were tense, worried that this might lead to a conflict between the two factions, but then Melia simply whispered in her ear.

The representatives from both countries seemed to have a harmonious relationship, which eased the atmosphere considerably...

"The Ancient Demon King... has been bribed by Hodge? This is terrible, we've lost such an ally..."

"Even the Holy Coffin Kingdom has a day when it depends on the devil, ha."

"It's a special time... By the way, do you know where our god went? We can't get in touch with him at all..."

Volume 1, Chapter 314: The Reliable Magician

Unfortunately, Melia shook her head and denied it, since she couldn't contact her father either. However, she did tell B the truth, offering to help search and saying there was a good chance of finding him.

Remembering that Sen had just attended a banquet in Silver Ring City, B felt a little more at ease, thinking that finding him wouldn't be too difficult.

"However, we must also be prepared that Sen will never be there and will not offer any help."

Melia crossed her arms and delivered this important warning in a firm and resolute voice.
