Chapter Thirteen: Martial Arts Training

"My wife, am I mature enough now?"

Qi Yu whispered in Su Yue's ear, then moved his lips down and kissed Su Yue's snow-white neck.

Su Yue felt a tingling sensation in her neck, which was also a little hot, and her cheeks flushed slightly.

She raised her hand to push Qi Yu's head away, but her hands were tightly held by Qi Yu, and she couldn't lift them at all.

"Stop messing around! Let go of me, or I'll get angry!"

Upon hearing this, Qi Yu released Su Yue, then smiled slightly, squatted down, and carried Su Yue in his arms as they walked towards the shore.

"What are you going to do?" Su Yue asked in surprise.

Qi Yu did not answer. After placing Su Yue on a large rock, Qi Yu squatted down and took off Su Yue's wet shoes and socks.

Su Yue stared blankly at Qi Yu, but did not stop him.

"Wife, wait a moment, I'll find you a clean pair of shoes!" Qi Yu said.

Su Yue nodded without saying anything, her head down, though her ears were still a little red.

Feet are one of the most important private things a girl can have, and there's even an unspoken rule that if you see a girl's feet, you have to marry her.

Although she and Qi Yu were husband and wife, she was still a little uncomfortable having Qi Yu touch her feet.

Qi Yu returned quickly, carrying a pair of clean embroidered shoes.

Qi Yu knelt down, then placed Su Yue's feet on his thighs, wiped the water droplets and dirt off her feet, and carefully put shoes on Su Yue.

Su Yue kept looking at Qi Yu, who was so close to her, and a sweet feeling spread through her heart. Then, almost subconsciously, Su Yue leaned forward and kissed Qi Yu on the cheek.

"Thank you, my husband!" Su Yue said with a smile.

Qi Yu raised an eyebrow and laughed, "If I could get a kiss every time I put your shoes on, I'd put your shoes on every day!"

Su Yue smiled and said, "You want me to give you a chance?"

Qi Yu smiled but didn't reply. The area around the stream became quiet, with only the gurgling sound of the water.

After putting on his shoes, Qi Yu sat down next to Su Yue and then put his arm around Su Yue's shoulder.

Su Yue also leaned over and nestled in Qi Yu's arms.

"My wife, do you think I should start practicing martial arts too?" Qi Yu asked.

Qi Yu recalled what had just happened; if Su Yue hadn't caught him in time, he would have been in a very embarrassing situation!

"Does my husband want to learn martial arts?" Su Yue asked in surprise.

Qi Yu nodded and sighed, "I'm just a scholar who can't shoulder any responsibility. Apart from having some knowledge, I can't even protect myself, let alone you, my wife."

"I want to protect you, my wife, and shield you from the wind and rain, not just stand behind you when there is danger."

Su Yue looked up at Qi Yu's eyes and realized that he was serious and that he was speaking from the heart.

With her strength, she doesn't need Qi Yu's protection at all.

When Qi Yu said he wanted to protect her, she admitted that she was still moved.

“If my husband wants to learn martial arts, his bone age may be too early, but it shouldn’t be too late. I’ll ask my father when we get home!” Su Yue said.

"Wife, can't you teach me?" Qi Yu asked.

“What I’ve learned is only suitable for women; you, my husband, cannot learn it,” Su Yue said.

Qi Yu was speechless. Oh, I see!

As expected, it all comes down to the father-in-law!

……

That afternoon, Qi Yu finally arrived at the Su residence.

The Su family was quite well-known in the area, owning two cloth shops and a security escort agency, and lived a relatively wealthy life.

Qi Yu's ability to marry Su Yue was indeed partly due to luck.

If I hadn't meddled in other people's business back then, the two of us wouldn't have met.

"Miss, young master!" As soon as the carriage arrived at the door, maids and servants came out to greet them.

Qi Yu smiled and nodded. After getting off the carriage, he turned around and reached out to help Su Yue.

"Xiaoling, where are my parents?" Su Yue asked.

The maid, Xiaoling, said, "Madam knew Miss was coming, so she's making lotus seed soup and chestnut pastries for you in the kitchen! Master is in the backyard, talking with the eldest young master!"

Su Yue nodded, then turned to Qi Yu and said, "Husband, let's go see Father and Elder Brother first!"

Qi Yu naturally didn't say anything, and took Su Yue's hand as they walked into the Su residence.

As they walked towards the backyard, the servants and maids they encountered all bowed and greeted Su Yue and Qi Yu.

Upon arriving in the backyard, Qi Yu had no interest in admiring the beautiful gardens and lakes, because two pairs of eyes, seemingly intent on killing him, were staring at him, making his hair stand on end and his back feel like it was being pricked by thorns.

Qi Yu coughed lightly, then bowed in greeting.

"Greetings, Father-in-law!"

Su Chengying looked at Qi Yu indifferently, then beckoned Qi Yu over.

Qi Yu's heart skipped a beat at the sight of this, and the memory of being tortured in the past came flooding back to him.

Su Yun looked at Qi Yu indifferently, already rubbing his hands together and cracking his knuckles.

Qi Yu looked bitter; this was why he was unwilling to come back with Su Yue.

"My wife, save me!" Qi Yu whispered to Su Yue for help.

Seeing Qi Yu's terrified expression, Su Yue smiled helplessly.

"Father, elder brother, please don't scare my husband. You know he doesn't know martial arts."

Su Chengying glanced at Qi Yu indifferently, then said, "I'm not going to hit him, I just invited him over for a chat."

“Your mother is preparing food for you, why don’t you go and help her? Qi Yu, stay here and chat with us.”

Su Yue gave a helpless wry smile, then said to Qi Yu, "Husband, you stay and talk to Father for a bit, I'll be right back."

Qi Yu nodded helplessly. After Su Yue left, he turned to look at the father and son from the Su family.

"Father-in-law!" Qi Yu entered the pavilion and bowed again.

Su Chengying nodded, then pointed to the stone bench next to him and said, "Sit down, let's talk!"

Qi Yu sat down as instructed and waited for Su Chengying to speak.

"Qi Yu, would you like to learn martial arts?" Su Chengying asked casually, taking a sip of tea.

Qi Yu was taken aback, still wondering how to bring this up with his father-in-law, but he didn't expect him to speak first.

After regaining his senses, Qi Yu's expression turned serious, and he said, "Yes!"

Su Chengying nodded and said, "Originally, your bone age had passed the optimal period for martial arts training, so you couldn't practice martial arts. However, after the previous few sessions, I found that your physical constitution is still quite good."

Qi Yu thought to himself, "So this is your excuse for beating yourself into a pig's head without even asking what happened before?"

Snapped!

Su Yun took out a blue-covered book from his pocket and threw it onto the stone table in front of Qi Yu.

"This is the cultivation technique I practice, called the 'Azure Nether Technique.' Take a look at it yourself, and if you don't understand anything, come and ask me!" Su Yun said.

Qi Yu picked up the "Azure Netherworld Manual" with a strange expression. This really was a martial arts manual!

Are there any techniques like "Star Absorbing Technique" or "Northern Darkness Divine Skill"?

Qi Yu opened the first page of "The Azure Netherworld Decree" and began to read it seriously.

As he watched, Qi Yu gradually understood that martial artists practiced true qi, which was somewhat similar to the internal energy in martial arts novels.

True Qi can be condensed by circulating it through the meridians of the body through breathing exercises. The more powerful a martial artist is, the purer and more abundant their True Qi will be.

As Qi Yu read on, a slight smile appeared on his lips. He thought it was easy for him to understand what was being said.

Chapter Fourteen: No Talent?

The Su father and son both frowned as they looked at Qi Yu.

Because Qi Yu actually looked through it himself without asking them.

This is a cultivation technique, which is like a heavenly book to ordinary people.

Even a scholar who has passed the imperial examination might not be able to understand it.

For example, regarding the "gathering of Qi in the Dantian" mentioned above, although ordinary people know that there is a Dantian and its general location, how do they control their true Qi and how do they gather Qi in the Dantian?

Knowing something is one thing; being able to do it is another.

The very basic "qi sensation" is enough to exclude 99% of ordinary people.

The "Azure Netherworld Manual" only records the methods of cultivation; it does not teach people how to perceive the Qi.

Because the Azure Netherworld Technique is a high-level cultivation method, only martial artists can learn it; ordinary people cannot access it.

Talking to martial artists about "qi sensation" is like writing out a multiplication table in a university textbook, isn't it?

You're already in college, and you still don't know the multiplication table?

Therefore, there is no need to write basic insights and feelings about Qi in "Qingming Jue"!

Su Chengying gave Qi Yu the "Azure Netherworld Technique" instead of a typical beginner's manual, because he wanted to see if Qi Yu was truly suited to learning martial arts.

Su Chengying's approach was to give a set of multiplication tables to a beginner who had never been to school and had not even learned addition and subtraction.

You can read it, but you don't understand its meaning.

You don't know that three times three is actually three threes added together; you only know the result but not the reason why.

No matter what you're learning, the worst thing you can do is pretend to know what you don't.

Now that Qi Yu is watching so intently, Su Chengying and Su Yun have already given up hope on him.
