"When they merge with the gods, they fall into a trap. Do you think they come without paying a price?" Amaterasu smiled, still with that faint smile, which was very beautiful, but upon closer inspection, it gave people a sense of horror. Ordinary people could not appreciate it at all.

"Everything you acquire has already come at a price in secret; that is the truth of the world."

“Those psychics are just like gods with an extra physical body; their systems are not necessarily much stronger than those of the gods.”

Suzuka Ise retorted coldly, "That sounds nice, but at least they have bodies, while you don't even have bodies!" Amaterasu was clearly after her.

But Amaterasu was not angry. "What you say is true, but unfortunately, they are on the wrong path as well."

A psychic's physical body won't live long; they'll die after a hundred years. So what if they have high magical powers? When their lifespan ends and their vital energy withers, they'll still wither away.

Buddhism has studied this subject very deeply, and the concept of reincarnation has had a profound influence. Those Buddhas and Bodhisattvas intended to ascend in the cycle of reincarnation, but unfortunately, no result has been achieved after so many years.

To survive, one must transform one's physical body into another.

However, doing so, whether it's a transformation while alive or after death, would have serious consequences.

While alive, they become a kind of monster, and after death, they become a kind of zombie.

With physical changes, personality will also change drastically. Will the person who crawls out of the coffin be the same person they were before?

May all gods swiftly come to my aid; if anyone disobeys, I will subdue Fengdu: Chapter Ninety-Seven: The Call of the Spirit Realm

At a certain point, not only the gods, but also those with great supernatural powers became aware of it.

The road ahead is blocked, or rather, there is an insurmountable barrier.

Even Amaterasu studied some of the roads.

For example, there are many kinds of yokai in Japan, and it is impossible that they are all transformed from psychics. Many of them were created by her own hands, just to see the limits of humanity and to evolve in various directions to see if a yokai race that satisfies her could emerge.

For example, during the period when Buddhism spread eastward and gods and Buddhas merged, she possessed the status of a sun god and served as Mahavairocana Buddha for a time. Unfortunately, she did not gain any benefits and instead caused great chaos in human beliefs, resulting in a situation where the situation became uncontrollable.

Of course, this applies to believers.

Once they reach the level of gods, they rarely pay attention to human beliefs.

Faith is toxic. It can be used in moderation, such as the Grain God replenishing its power by consuming the souls of those who die in the shrine, thus sustaining itself for a thousand years without danger. However, faith should not be used as a means of survival; the disadvantages outweigh the advantages.

Their only motivation to move forward is to surpass themselves, while faith can only become a constraint.

"Isn't it easy for gods to have bodies? Do you think reincarnation is difficult for people at our level?" Amaterasu's smile was extremely calm. Supernatural beings can maintain their individuality and reincarnate for thousands of years. Although their wisdom is worn down, their true spirit has never dissipated. And in these thousands of years, they have reincarnated countless times.

"Do you think I haven't reincarnated? No, I've reincarnated quite a few times. I tried to imitate the system of psychics, but ultimately failed." Amaterasu uttered words that could shake the shrine.

"Because those bodies are of little use to me; they'll just be a pile of bones a hundred years from now."

"..." Suzuka Ise had to admit that Amaterasu was right. She glanced at Amaterasu sideways and asked, "Could it be because of the divine blood within me?"

Her mother committed a terrible crime back then, is she now being asked to pay for her mother's debts?

Her eyes were dark, her heart was heavy, and she felt a surge of anger trapped inside.

Seeing that her face was not very good, Amaterasu immediately laughed and said, "Divine blood is something I left behind in the mortal world before I left. Although it is a perfect secret medicine, it is not pure and has not been completely purified. Whoever eats it will be a natural reincarnation." Her golden pupils radiated light and burned with flames, just like stars, which was very stunning and dazzling, indicating that she was a genuine sun goddess.

"But divine blood is not the most important thing."

"Then what is most important?"

"Of course it's you, my little deer," she whispered in Suzuka Ise's ear, her voice melodious and sweet, her breath brushing against Suzuka's earlobe.

The sensation was so real that she immediately shuddered, her fur standing on end, and she shouted angrily, "What are you doing!"

"Oh, this area seems quite sensitive." Amaterasu's tone was calm; she was simply checking her body, after all, this would be hers from now on.

"Aren't you a god?!" Suzuka Ise looked disgusted; her earlobes were bright red and trembling.

She glared fiercely at Amaterasu. What kind of deity was she, daring to blaspheme against humans?

“I am a human-shaped god, unlike those other gods.” Seeing her resistance, Amaterasu released Suzuka’s hands, causing her to fall to the ground.

"Damn it!" Suzuka Ise gritted her teeth and rubbed the spot where she had fallen and hurt herself.

Humanoid gods have a consciousness and thoughts that are more inclined towards humans, and the divine bodies they condense are naturally no different from human bodies, while the typical example of heteromorphic gods is the Yamata no Orochi.

But in reality, many gods are mixed forms, such as having an animal head and a human body, or a human body and an animal body.

Amaterasu is actually a true deity, the kind of deity that best fits human understanding; there aren't many deities like her.

She is a rare breed.

“Come, little deer, stay by my side, and I will elevate you to godhood. You have endless potential and possibilities, and you are the human I have ever seen most likely to be sublimated.”

Suzuka Ise pouted, "I don't understand." She showed no interest in the divine position that Amaterasu had mentioned.

Amaterasu looked at her for a long time, seemingly admiring her, and then slowly said, "The gods originated from the spirit world, but if they continue down this path, destruction will await them, because the end of this path is madness and chaos."

Suzuka Ise stood up, brushing off non-existent dust. "Really? I don't believe it?"

“Mortals would naturally not know, but those at the level of great gods can vaguely sense it. After becoming a god-king, one clearly perceives the truth—the spirit world is calling upon the gods, calling from the deepest depths, calling from the lowest level… It is alive.” Amaterasu’s words were very soft, and a trace of reminiscence flashed in her eyes, as if she remembered the despair and helplessness she felt when she first learned of this news.

The spirit world is alive, and the more powerful a deity is, the closer it is to its essence, and the less able it is to resist.

Just like gravity, large objects are the easiest to capture.

Ise Suzuka: "..."

It sounds impressive but I don't understand it.

Amaterasu didn't take it seriously. She didn't expect Suzuka to understand her feelings in a short time. Her fur was still yellow. She continued, "You can imagine that this planet is alive. One day it suddenly wakes up. What do you think life on the planet would be like?"

Suzuka Ise understood this time, and her face turned pale. Although she couldn't imagine it, she knew the consequences would be severe.

"For humanity, the only way to survive when the planet awakens is to stand in the sky!" Amaterasu pointed to the sky, her face devoid of a smile, exuding an aura of absolute dominance.

The gods are the same; to escape madness and chaos, they must break free from environmental constraints. Their crisis stems from the spirit world itself, so they need to escape it.

The present world is the best place.

This is easy to do; you just need to reincarnate.

But what happens after that?

The physical body cannot last forever, and the soul must return to the spirit world.

The ancient legends of monsters, zombies, vampires, and other immortal beings are not fictional, but real historical phenomena.

Because they are the product of the gods' exploration of the path to ascension.

The alien species are essentially human, only their bodies have become mutated. It's hard to say whether it's evolution or degeneration, but to the gods, they are failures.

Because their bodies cannot merge with their souls, and they do not have eternal life, even if they are powerful for a time, they cannot bind the souls and are therefore useless to the gods.

These alien species disappeared a thousand years ago because the spirit world was far away, and their descendants lurked in human society. Now that the spirit world has returned, their dormant bloodline is gradually being revived.

In the early days, the gods were aware of this and established their own kingdoms. Unfortunately, it turned out that their approach was wrong. The divine kingdoms they created in the spirit world could not escape the influence of the spirit world, so they all failed.

At that time, the island was still uncivilized.

Amaterasu was a latecomer, but she didn't believe in superstitions and stubbornly established Takamagahara, which unfortunately was far inferior to the ancient civilizations.

But at that time, ancient Egypt and India put forward a very profound statement.

That is the concept of heaven!

All gods, swiftly come to my aid! If anyone disobeys, I will subdue Fengdu: Chapter Ninety-Eight: Amaterasu Suzuka

“What does this have to do with me?” Suzuka Ise muttered.

"Your soul and body are showing signs of merging, which is remarkable. I see hope in you." Amaterasu looked at Suzuka and smiled faintly.

"I don't understand."

"Perhaps you've resisted death too many times, so you might become immune to the calls of the spirit world in the future." She felt that Suzuka was born to face death and had an extremely resilient nature, which might be the reason for this, so she took it seriously from the beginning.

After death, beings automatically go to the spirit world.

When the gods reach a certain point, they too will be drawn by the call of the spirit world, lose their true nature, and uncontrollably head to the deepest part of the spirit world.

This is something that actually happened.

The gods have gone astray, and so have the mediums; though their paths are different, they lead to the same end.

Great spiritual beings are comparable to the gods, but they also have fears, because if they go any further, their spirits will no longer be able to remain in the human world, and they will be called to the deepest part of the spirit world.

Therefore, we need to forge a new path.

The concept of Heaven is too vague and ethereal. All the gods, including her, have been trying for thousands of years without seeing any results, and they have long since lost patience.

She couldn't rely solely on heaven as her only lifeline, just as she couldn't put all her eggs in one basket; she needed to make multiple preparations.

In fact, it wasn't just him; many deities had their own plans and schemes in secret, some of which were deeply hidden and unknown to others.

"Just because of this?" Suzuka asked in surprise and doubt. She didn't think she was anything special. She just didn't want to die. Her grandmother had tried so hard to save her and had told her not to die since she was a child. She remembered it like a creed.

As long as there is life, there is hope, so her will to survive has always been strong.

The only time she contemplated suicide was at her grandmother's grave. That moment completely changed her mind, and she felt that she had no more attachments in this world.

So she didn't think she was anything special. There is great terror between life and death. It's normal for many people to have a will to live when facing death. But Amaterasu seems to value her a lot.

For some reason, Suzuka Ise thought of Miko Yotsuya and Hana Yurikawa.

On that twilight night, they poured their inner power into her body. Is that related to this?

"Isn't this enough?" Amaterasu smiled faintly. According to the gods' calculations, the correct path should be the perfect fusion of spirit and flesh.

But the strong are like steel that has cooled and solidified. Their spirit and will have been sublimated and transformed to such a level that unless they are completely broken down and reforged, it is impossible for them to reunite with their bodies.

Moreover, this quality of integration cannot be deliberately cultivated.

If one needs extraordinary power within their body, placing them in a life-or-death situation will only stimulate changes in that extraordinary power and the physical body, most likely resulting in the creation of a new monster—she had tried it before.

Those supernatural beings who are both human and divine are in human form because they have not been able to achieve the fusion of spirit and flesh; they can only coexist, each living their own lives.

This is why the gods live on in the world, while those with supernatural powers need to reincarnate. Of course, those with supernatural powers can choose to abandon their physical bodies and enter the spirit world, but they rarely do so.

Only a thousand years ago, a group of spiritualists were willing to leave with the gods, fearing that their identities would be erased by endless reincarnation.

"Haven't you met anyone like me all these years?" Suzuka didn't believe it, thinking Amaterasu was fooling her.

"What do you think?" Amaterasu said calmly. She genuinely thought Suzuka Ise was an oddball, the kind of person who only appears once every few thousand years.

Some things are inexplicable. The gods searched for thousands of years, and then suddenly appeared in front of her. There's no logic to it. So many people throughout history have been afraid of death, but she just can't understand why only Suzuka Ise has this characteristic.
