"Then where does your power come from?" another member of the Shadow asked in a hoarse voice. They stood in a row, talking to Tendou Kagura.
"Are you a high-ranking member of the Red Blade?" Tendou Kagura asked, looking at him.
"Chifeng is a unified entity; there are no higher-ups!"
"Then I want to see your brains. Who gave you orders?"
"Come with me!" The process was beyond Tendo Kagura's expectations. He thought it would be troublesome, but the three shadowy figures agreed very easily.
As they entered what was clearly a private path reserved for internal members, Kagura remained vigilant, but the person in the shadows remained silent.
They led the way, and many people along the way saw them, but no one stopped them; they were allowed to leave, and they even used many special lanes.
These shadowy figures likely hold extremely high positions, appearing openly at Chifeng Fortress, and their words are met with no opposition.
After a ten-minute walk, Yin Ying led Tiandao Kagura to a certain government building.
The place was deserted and very tidy; the original people must have been dispersed beforehand.
Tendou Kagura entered the building and arrived at a spacious conference room, where eleven people were already seated at a large square table.
Everyone was dressed in the standard uniform of the Red Army, a dark-colored one-piece suit that gave off a sense of oppression. The edges of the uniform were decorated with serrated patterns in red thread, and there was a epaulette with a drawn blade on the left arm.
These people had their hair perfectly styled and were silently waiting for the arrival of Kagura Tendou. They were all extremely young, the oldest being no more than thirty years old. They sat upright with sharp eyes, giving off a very imposing aura.
The shadowy figure brought Tendo Kagura here and then left, seemingly unconcerned about any violent acts Tendo Kagura might commit.
The young man in the very center, with thick eyebrows, large eyes, and a burly build, spoke first:
"Stranger from afar, we have been waiting for you for a long time."
Their very first words moved Tendou Kagura slightly. They really did know about her origins?!
"You know who I am?"
Those people nodded, their faces solemn and expressionless.
"The prophet uttered these words during the resistance era: that humans from beyond the world would descend upon this land."
Tendou Kagura fell silent, his heart churning with turbulent waves.
Did someone really predict his appearance many years ago?
His appearance was not a coincidence; otherwise, this situation would not be explained.
The flow of time differs in each world, but due to the influence of Kagura Tendou, the flow of time in the dark world is the same as that in the real world.
The second node is different; time here conflicts with and is extremely chaotic in the real world, and the world rejects him.
But can systems also be predicted?
Or perhaps the system actively disseminated his information.
He remembered that the Outer God's Diary in the system mentioned the need to spread the savior's fame.
Perhaps sensing Tendou Kagura's shock, the young man, sitting in the middle and clearly in a central position, spoke again.
"Perhaps it wasn't you. Prophets have prophesied too many things, so mistakes are inevitable."
Kagura Tendou realized that they genuinely wanted to talk, so he stepped forward, sat down, and earnestly negotiated with Akahide.
In fact, he had little interest in such purely violent institutions.
Even in the early stages of a disaster, if one were to rashly negotiate, as long as the high-ranking elites are of sound mind, they should immediately stabilize him, appear to be chatting and laughing on the surface, while secretly devising more than a dozen plans, not hesitating to deploy established troops, discussing how to detain and arrest him, and then interrogating him thoroughly, digging out as much information as possible from his mind.
There are only two paths awaiting Tendo Kagura: either cooperate or be forced to cooperate.
But that was in the early stages, and society was still orderly.
Things are different now. Both he and Chifeng know that time is running out and the environment at the second node is getting worse.
Especially Chi Feng, who can barely protect himself, has no need to find a new enemy.
Moreover, Chi Feng's attitude so far has been acceptable; he hasn't been shouting for war upon meeting them. However, seeing their scrutinizing gazes, Tendou Kagura knows that he hasn't yet won their trust.
This makes sense, though. Chifeng seems to have learned his lesson in this regard, and even when he sees that the other person is human, he remains extremely wary.
Those who break my heart must die: Chapter Seven: System Abilities are My Abilities [Seventh Update]
"I am Zifeng!" The young man in the middle introduced himself with a blank expression. The conversation was very fast-paced and saved a lot of time.
“Kagura,” Tendo Kagura also spoke.
"If you don't want to waste time, then let's just open the skylight." Zifeng said indifferently.
Kagura Tendo asked directly, "Who is the prophet?"
“A high-ranking member of the resistance, Shang Yang, believed that the existence of the prophet should not be revealed, so all information about him was completely blocked.”
"Did he really predict my appearance?" Tendou Kagura asked, half believing and half doubting.
"I don't know, maybe it's not you!" Zifeng was clearly Chifeng's spokesperson. When he spoke, no one spoke or questioned him.
"The prophet spoke many incredible things, whether they are true or false is still unknown. However, after verification, most of them were false, but some of them were confirmed after being verified one by one. But in general, there are still a very few prophecies that cannot be confirmed."
Tendou Kagura was filled with doubt and surprise. He remembered that he had met many people on his way here. Some of them mentioned the resistance army, saying that they often had some inexplicable actions, which resulted in the loss of a lot of troops and resources. It was unusual, but no one asked why they did it.
Those actions were related to the prophet?
Then Tendo Kagura asked again, "Where is your prophet?"
Zifeng is tall and strong with regular features, yet he possesses an unyielding and steadfast demeanor. He has the air of an elite, but not a social elite; rather, he is a military elite.
He said, "The prophet went completely mad before the resistance collapsed, and died when it collapsed. Before his death, he went through an extremely painful period of struggle, muttering that humans from other worlds would descend, but we waited a long time, and only now have we confirmed that it is true."
Tendou Kagura frowned; this is where the information gap comes in!
Chi Feng was already mentally prepared, but he didn't even have anyone to ask. The two were not equal in status. Tiandao Shenle felt that the prophet had foretold the location of the Lord of the Wasteland's descent.
Then he asked, "How can you be so sure that I come from outside the world?"
There are three known systems of strange creatures, and you are not one of them.
"System?" Tendou Kagura pondered the word, silently taking out the seven crystals of the Shadow Creatures from before.
Zifeng stared at the crystals, unmoved, and nodded, saying, "That's right, the power of the Shadow comes from these things; they belong to the Shadow system."
"This is a fragment of the power of the Outer Gods." Kagura Tendou's words were startling; she didn't mention Eternal Darkness's name, but the meaning was very clear.
But these people remained calm, clearly already knowing.
Zifeng put it more bluntly: "Before drowning, a person doesn't care whether what they're grasping at is a straw of fate..."
"Good to know." Kagura's purpose was clear: to exchange information with Akabane. Regardless of whether Akabane knew it or not, he wanted to reveal everything, making the information as transparent as possible to avoid situations where he was attacking someone and then someone else was attacking him.
The resistance army, after all, was an organization that had fought against the supernatural beings for many years and was extremely experienced.
"I hope to obtain clues about the strange creatures, the Outer Gods, and the world's calamities," Kagura Tendo continued.
His original plan wasn't like this. He wanted to help as much as he could, and ideally kill a few more Shadow Creatures to relieve Chi Feng's pressure. But actually, he couldn't do much. Although he was the savior, he couldn't argue with the Outer Gods. At most, he could give Chi Feng a push from behind when he was charging forward. He would never die for Chi Feng.
Anyone with eyes can see that humanity is powerless to reverse the situation. Large swathes of living space have been lost, and the country has been pushed to its limits. Right now, it's estimated that only Chifeng's side still has a complete industrial capacity. Once the resistance army collapses, it's like waiting to die on the spot. When the northern no-man's land expands, there will truly be no way to save them.
But today, it seems like there's a fire in my own backyard. It's hard to say what happened, so I can only ask the elder brother here—let's put it this way for now, that we're on the same side in the face of the Outer God.
From doing things that were none of my business to now needing help from others, Tiandao Shenle is now somewhat humble and seeking cooperation.
However, he has a very flexible personality. He can be arrogant, but he is also willing to humble himself. He can endure hardship and suffer losses. Who hasn't encountered a few troublemakers while playing games?
Holding your nose to fix a toilet, peeling onions with tears in your eyes—for one of the masses, a smooth journey is not necessarily a good thing.
Therefore, Kagura Tendou felt there was nothing he couldn't bow his head to.
“Sure, but we can’t give away our intelligence for free,” Zifeng said.
They talked about the prophet with Tendo Kagura, which had nothing to do with the outsider, since the outsider was originally appointed by the prophet. The two were suspected to be related, so this was just to start a discussion.
But other things cannot be easily revealed. Those are things that the soldiers of the resistance era fought and died for.
At the very least... there has to be a return.
Exchange as much as you can.
That intelligence is outdated for Chifeng now; they need new information. It's just a matter of whether it will be useful to Tiandao Shenle.
"The prophet dreamt of traveling through the realms, burning himself to help us establish a complete system and the right path. These messages are extremely valuable." Zifeng's words were indifferent, but the meaning was clear.
"I have a crystal of a Shadow Creature here." Kagura Tendou placed seven fragments of power on the table and pushed them over.
Those dark crystals gathered together, but Zifeng didn't even glance at them.
"This thing was very useful during the resistance era, but it's not very useful for the Red Army now." He said it very bluntly, almost blurting out "we don't need this thing."
Tendou Kagura immediately frowned and looked Zifeng up and down, but the latter looked calm and showed no sign of guilt.
It's a seller's market now, and the conditions are unfavorable to him, Tendo Kagura pondered in his heart.
He put away the crystals and then said, "I have information about other worlds and Outer Gods."
Zifeng asked directly, "Would it help our current situation?"
"...I'm not sure." Tendou Kagura replied after a moment. He could only talk about his experiences in the Dark World and the Desolate Lord's desire to descend again in Luo Anzhong.
But upon closer reflection, these things are really unimportant; the second node and the disaster in the dark world are two different things.
His dark eyes have no connection to the Shadow system.
“Chifeng has two questions that you need to answer directly.” Zifeng said, his eyes becoming extremely sharp, as if nothing could be hidden from him and he could see through Tiandao Shenle’s thoughts.
Tendou Kagura vaguely sensed that a strange power was probing his heart, not spying on him, but judging whether he was lying, lingering in his mind.
He remembered that Yinying had said that someone had noticed his gaze and that he had been targeted when he scanned the Chifeng Fortress.
This is not a power that shadow creatures could possess...
The water here is a bit deep.
Tendou Kagura found the situation extremely troublesome, as Zifeng had seized the initiative and was being suppressed in every aspect.
Fortunately, Chi Feng didn't make things too difficult for him.
Zifeng stared at Tiandao Shenle and asked, "First, how did you come into this world?"
"...My ability allows me to descend upon other worlds."
Zifeng showed no abnormality and was fooled by Tiandao Shenle.
