Ancient One!
New York Temple!
Cao Gui felt that he must have offended a very important person.
The three fell silent. After witnessing what had just happened, they had completely given up on their past. That black skull didn't seem like something from fate; it was more like... a demon!
"This isn't a place to stay any longer, let's go."
"it is good."
"Let's go, let's get out of here."
……
In a bar in northwestern New Mexico.
Countless gamblers squandered their money in the spacious venue. Some cheered loudly when they won, while others howled like defeated dogs when they lost. In the end, they would borrow more money from the casino and go back to the table to fight again.
Gamblers deserve a terrible death!
On the top floor of the bar, in a luxurious private room, an elegant middle-aged gentleman held a glass and took a small sip of the blood-red liquor.
Beside him stood a sexy and beautiful woman with blonde hair and blue eyes, and a tall figure. However, she had a pair of ram horns on her head, black wings on her back, and a black tail with sharp spikes extending from her tailbone, which was swaying gently. Her body was also covered with various patterns.
This is exactly the succubus lady that Cao Gui has been dreaming of. Except for not having the dark, mute bride face, she is perfect in every other way.
Looking down at the casino below, a glimpse into the diverse lives of people, Mephistopheles chuckled. As a devil, what he loved most was seeing humanity plummet from the heights of joy to utter despair; that was when he would reap their souls.
"Ok?"
Suddenly, Mephisto straightened his back; one of his demons was doomed.
Beside him, the succubus's throat bobbed; she wanted to ask, but dared not speak.
Logically speaking, as a powerful demon king, the death of his henchmen wouldn't be noticed, since he has too many subordinates to manage.
But things are different now; this is Earth, the Ancient One's territory.
All told, the number of demons he developed on Earth was less than two hands' worth. They were rare species, the kind that needed to be carefully protected and nurtured, and were extremely precious.
"Strange, there are actually people on Earth who can kill my demon... Could it be that the people of Kamar-Taj have intervened?"
"Or did the Ancient One discover the bad thing I did?"
Mephisto tapped his forehead, traced his consciousness back to its source, and followed the network cable... the contract, all the way to the memories left behind by Sloan before his death.
"Huh? Interesting kid."
Mephisto was utterly astonished. Invisibility and altering body temperature were not uncommon, but he couldn't detect any trace of magic in Cao Gui. For humans on Earth, this was an impossible feat.
"How did he do that... I really want to have a good chat with him."
Mephisto stroked his chin, his eyes sparkling like a child who had discovered a new toy, excited yet somewhat eager.
However, the next second, he would not think that way anymore.
He saw the altar he had painstakingly created destroyed, and he also saw Vishanti magic flying in from the New York Sanctum. Clearly, the Ancient One noticed his subtle movements.
"Oh dear, we've been found out."
Mephisto scratched his face, somewhat amused and exasperated. He hadn't expected that getting so engrossed in tasting the wine would lead to him being caught out.
It's a little awkward.
"Let's go somewhere else to have some fun, we're tired of this place."
As he spoke, he raised his hand and opened a spatial door, leading the succubus lady inside. He walked in a slightly hurried manner, his steps a little flustered.
Just as the two demons left, a spatial portal sparkling with fire opened, and a mage emerged from it, holding a golden magic circle and wearing a yellow hood that covered his face.
The Ancient One sniffed the lingering sulfur smell in the air, her face instantly darkening. But Mephisto was already gone, and she didn't know who to vent her anger on.
Gu Yi glanced at the gamblers who looked like madmen, snorted coldly, raised her hand and waved, and a golden portal flickered and instantly took away all the gamblers.
The gamblers only felt a blur before their eyes, and the original card table had turned into a sky full of yellow sand.
Feeling unsatisfied, the Ancient One stomped her foot, and a magic circle spread out, instantly covering the entire bar. Then, the Ancient One and the bar disappeared, leaving only a desert behind.
After a while, a portal opened up where the bar had been. Mephisto peeked at the now-vanished bar, curled his lip, and thought to himself that the Ancient One was stingy. Then he shrank back and closed the portal.

Chapter 28 Chinese Restaurant
noon
Cao Gui yawned as he came down from the apartment. It was the weekend, and school was on holiday. Having just dealt with the fraternity, Cao Gui felt exhausted, so he decided to relax and slept until noon.
Last night, after leaving the textile factory, the three men from the cross disappeared. Cao Gui wasn't interested in where they went.
What Cao Gui was interested in was whether there would be any midnight romances between Firefox and Cross, who had been colleagues for several years and were being pursued by Wesley... *cough* It's a bit unethical to think like that, but gossip is a human instinct that can't be stopped.
Cao Gui arrived at a nearby Chinese restaurant. He had been eating meat all the time lately and hadn't had a proper meal in a long time.
Pushing open the door, Cao Gui entered. The restaurant wasn't big, and there weren't many people, but there was only one empty table left. Cao Gui went straight to the empty table and sat down, but before the waiter came over, a white woman in her thirties or forties sat down at the same table as Cao Gui.
Cao Gui raised an eyebrow. This woman looked like she was from the middle class in New York. Logically, she shouldn't like Chinese food. How did she end up here?
"You don't mind if I sit here, do you?" the woman asked softly.
"I don't mind." Cao Gui shrugged.
Most of the people sitting in the restaurant were middle-aged men, except for Cao Gui, who was a fresh-faced eighteen-year-old. If he were an older woman, he would probably be sitting here too.
At this moment, the waiter came over with the menu. Seeing this, Cao Gui pointed to the woman opposite him:
"Give her some first, I'm not in a hurry."
"Thank you." The woman didn't stand on ceremony and took the menu to order her food.
A moment later, the waiter approached Cao Gui and said, "Hello sir, here is the menu."
"Thank you." Cao Gui took the menu and glanced at it, then immediately felt a wave of exasperation.
Broccoli and beef, General Tso's chicken, fried cheese wontons, satay chicken...
"You call this Chinese food?" Cao Gui pointed at the menu and asked irritably, this time in Chinese.
He had never heard of any of these dishes.
"A Chinese?" The waiter sized up Cao Gui, then snatched the menu back.
Why didn't you say so earlier!
He immediately rummaged in his pocket and pulled out another menu: "Here, use this one."
Cao Gui glanced at the menu: boiled prawns, steamed spare ribs with black bean sauce, honey-glazed char siu...
"That's more like it." Cao Gui ordered a few dishes from the menu, the waiter noted them down, and then quickly returned to the kitchen.
The white woman across from her stared in disbelief. "Is this even possible?"
Why didn't she see the second menu?
"Sir... uh, what just happened?" the woman asked curiously.
"Ordering food?" Cao Gui asked, puzzled.
"I mean... why is there a second menu, and why am I not allowed to look at that menu?"
“Those are Chinese characters; you wouldn’t understand them even if you looked at them.” Cao Gui spread his hands.
"New Yorkers prefer what they consider Chinese food, not what people in China eat, which is why there are two menus. I have to be furious?"
That's how it is. Every type of restaurant needs to be adapted to local preferences. Even KFC upgrades its menu when it goes to China. It's not surprising that this happens.
"Oh." The woman nodded, seemingly understanding but not quite.
Just as the two were talking, a disheveled white man burst in, fired a shot at the ceiling, and the Smith & Wesson .38 short-barreled revolver in his hand made a "bang".
This gun might sound unfamiliar, but it becomes clear when you put it another way: the short, small revolver that Hong Kong police officers used in 1990s movies, the little handgun that could never kill the villain no matter how hard they tried.
"Everyone, hand over your valuables. I... I'm in a bad mood right now, don't force me to hurt you."
Cao Gui: "..."
What's going on? Another robbery? America is too free, isn't it?
The waiter glanced at him but did not resist. The man in front of him was trembling and incoherent, clearly a first-time offender.
It would be different if it were a Black person. They wouldn't be nervous because they've grown up doing this kind of work and are extremely skilled.
The white man now appears agitated and highly tense; he could very well kill someone if things go wrong.
For a specific example, you can refer to the Wayne family in DC Comics. They were kidnapped by this type of novice when they were watching an opera at the theater, which ultimately led to the tragic loss of Batman's parents.
The waiters and shopkeepers, having spent a long time working at the bottom of society, immediately saw the problem. Without hesitation, they gave the man all the cash in the register; they didn't need to risk injury or their lives for such a small amount of money.
In America, an injury can cost you more money than a robbery.
Before long, the customers handed their wallets to the white man. The man then looked at the white woman opposite Cao Gui, who sighed and handed over her wallet as well.
"The ring, the ring!" the robber roared.
“Hey! This is my wedding ring,” the woman said hesitantly.
"Stop talking nonsense, give it to me now!" the robber roared, trembling, brandishing his gun in front of the woman before snatching her wedding ring.
"Hey, buddy..." Cao Gui couldn't stand it anymore.
"Shut up, sit down, and stay away from me!" The robber turned his gun on Cao Gui: "And you, hand over what you had on you before!"
Cao Gui glanced at the blustering but cowardly robber and asked, "Do you really want what I had on me before?"
"Stop talking nonsense and give it to me now, or I'll shoot."
"Alright, alright," Cao Gui said helplessly.
Then he stood up and, under the terrified gaze of the robbers, pulled out a Cold Steel Counterattack TAC-1 dagger and a Tiger Dagger from his lower back.
That wasn't all. He reached into his clothes and pulled out a Tokarev TT-33 rifle and five magazines, a Glock 18, and a dedicated drum magazine.
It's just a 50-round pistol drum magazine. Anyone who's played CS knows that. It's reasonable, right?
Then, he pulled out a Colt M1873 and a huge Taser stun gun.
They're all spoils of war, very valuable.
