The man didn't take Bartolovich's drink; he just stared at Bartolovich. Bartolovich wasn't intimidated; he raised his glass and met the man's gaze.
The man stood up and took the glass from Bartolovich's hand: "We have no interest in Kingpin; he's just a nobody from New York."
"So it seems you're dealing with that god behind Kingpin, is that right?" Bartolovi raised his glass to the man and took a sip of his drink.
"You could say that. Besides, if a goddess bleeds, is she still a goddess?" the man said with a hint of disdain.
He had seen the ruins left by Diana and Hercules during their battle in Washington, but he didn't believe these so-called gods were any real legendary figures.
Perhaps it's just another super soldier that America has come up with. Didn't they create the Winter Soldier before? Although it ultimately failed, isn't that precisely why America is now so lax about these super soldiers?
The Americans failed too, just like them. Even worse, at least they completely froze all the out-of-control Winter Warriors, keeping them from the light of day. These Americans, however, didn't.
He's still out there, all active and healthy, and he's even teamed up with Tony Stark and his crew in some ridiculous organization.
“It seems your organization knows far more than I imagined.” Bartolovi keenly sensed that the organization to which the man in front of him belonged had likely found the goddess’s weakness, or rather, a way to defeat her.
The man laughed upon hearing Bartolovi's words. He said to Bartolovi, "We are far more powerful than you imagine."
“Well then, it’s a pleasure to work with you.” The man extended his hand to Bartolovi first.
"It's a pleasure working with you." Bartolovi shook the man's hand as well.
After receiving an affirmative answer from Bartolovi, the man prepared to leave with his men.
Before leaving, the man turned back to Bartolovie and said, "If this collaboration succeeds, then it's not impossible for you to be in the same environment as me in the future."
After the man finished speaking, he left Bartolovie's room, leaving Bartolovie alone, lost in thought.
Actually, when the man said that his power was much greater, he had already guessed where the man came from.
The ones who had a direct conflict with that goddess were the guys who were exposed at the press conference: Hydra.
“Looks like this is going to be fun.” Bartolovi smiled and took another sip of his drink, his eyes falling on the glass that the Hydra man had taken and placed aside. “A bunch of stupid fools who don’t know how to enjoy life.”
"A piece of trash who only knows how to enjoy himself." Back in his car, the Hydra man took off the thin layer of realistic gloves on his hands.
The man casually tossed the simulated gloves into the car and said to the man sitting in the passenger seat, who had a somewhat scientific air about him, "How's the preparation going?"
"Sidrick, are you sure we want to do this?" Clearly, this person didn't quite agree with Sidrick's plan. "That's a suspected god..."
"Trek, Trek." West Trekker clearly didn't want to say much more about this topic.
Or perhaps the two had already argued countless times about this plan, to the point that West Trekker didn't want to discuss the topic with Trekker anymore.
“I’m just reminding you that if things don’t go as you envision, all our efforts in Sokovia will be in vain.” Even though he knew Szczek didn’t want to hear this, Trepike still had to make it clear.
After all, Sokovia was not only Szczek's stronghold, but also the masterpiece to which he had poured his life's blood.
It is now very likely that everything will be completely ruined because of this so-called arrest plan by Cistreck.
That's right, Sternek didn't want to kill Diana, but rather capture her. A crazy plan, something only a psychopath could come up with.
Seeing that Cistreck's face was growing increasingly gloomy, Trepike wisely stopped the conversation: "So, this time, do you want to use twins?"
“No, they are still too fragile, even weak.” After Treipak stopped talking about that topic, Siztrekel kept staring at the scenery outside the car window. Even a small place like Sokovia still has unforgettable scenery and delightful local customs.
“They may become our most powerful weapon against our enemies in the future, but definitely not now.” For some reason, Sistrek always held the attitude that the twins were still children. He was often the one who refused to help when the twins could solve the problem.
Siztrek turned his gaze back to Trepike: "You watched that woman's fight with me. How long do you think the twins could last against that woman without being torn to shreds, or even get close to her, is a question."
“But if we don’t use the twins, we can’t get close to that woman.” Trepike knew just how fast the man among the twins was. If they could get the older twin to get close to Diana, they would have completed 99% of the plan.
Siztrekker shook his head again.
“I really don’t understand. You can give up on the other children, so why not these two?” Trepike said to Siztrek.
After all, this is not something a leader who would use children as human subjects would do.
Hydra doesn't have such kind guys, especially since this guy is the leader of a Hydra base.
“They can’t, Trepike.” Siztrek simply reiterated his stance and then fell silent.
Cui Pike could only shut his mouth; after all, he wasn't the leader.
Chapter 73 The Twins Appear
When the plane landed in Sokovia, a sliver of light was already appearing on the horizon. But the sun remained hidden behind the mountains, refusing to show its face, only revealing its faint rays.
Diana stepped out of the cabin first, followed by the massive Fisk.
“I really didn’t expect to receive such a wonderful gift so soon after arriving in Sokovia,” Diana said after looking around.
Fisk roughly knew that Diana knew something, or rather, had seen something. He could only be prepared to protect himself at any time; with Diana here, even he couldn't participate in this battle.
Even if he had similar physical attributes to Captain America, it wouldn't be enough.
Diana tapped her temples lightly with her fingers, wondering if these guys preparing to attack had been kicked in the head by donkeys. Attacking her was fine, but at least they should have made it something that would pique her interest.
“Don’t die in a minute, Fisk,” Diana said, turning to Fisk, whose body was now completely tense. “I don’t want to find someone else to replace you; it takes too much time.”
Fisk could only nod to indicate that he was fine.
Diana saw Fisk nod, so she ignored him and walked alone towards the center of the tarmac.
A flat tarmac is practically the perfect target for concentrated fire.
Diana's divine aura surged, and the Wonder Woman standard suit completely replaced her original ordinary clothes. The Sword of Vulcan and the Divine Shield also appeared in Diana's hands.
"Stop hiding, I see you," Diana said in a normal voice.
Perhaps this wasn't originally intended for those lurking in the shadows to hear, but simply for her to hear herself.
When Diana's entire body radiated divine light, Stiglitz had already sensed something was amiss. The Hydra agents of America hadn't told him that this woman's armor could transform in such a way.
It was obvious that Szczekel had been tricked by those guys. In fact, they were practically trying to use this woman to kill him.
Szczek was now drenched in sweat, but the situation no longer allowed him to change his orders. Besides, there was a brute from the high table beside him.
Bartolovich paid no attention to Diana's every move. He had seen the divine agent and would not be surprised by any strange phenomena that occurred to Diana.
But when Wilson Fisk, that New York country bumpkin, came into view, he couldn't contain his resentment. This fatso was trying to take a slice of his pie, and at worst, even replace him. How could Bartolovich swallow this insult?
As for the agreement with Szczek, there was no need to abide by it; their actual goals were completely different. He only wanted to kill that fatso and preserve his own position. Szczek, on the other hand, was going to war with a god, and during the deployment, he even saw some items on Szczek's side that were clearly meant for capture.
A mortal trying to capture a god? Utterly ridiculous.
When Bartolovich saw that they were not going to kill Diana, he realized that his temporary ally's plan was doomed to failure.
So what?
By killing Wilson Fisk, his plan would have succeeded. Didn't that deity just need someone to manage her high table? He, Bartolovich, was certainly a suitable candidate.
Surrendering to the gods is not shameful.
Bartolovich waved to his men.
As an elder of the High Table, he naturally had his own henchmen, or rather, his own private army.
The troops, fully armored, began pressing towards Wilson Fisk. In the morning light, they transformed into a black wave, threatening to engulf Fisk.
"That's quite a show of force." Wilson's muscles tensed, ready to dodge at any moment. He had never been as serious as Rui before; who knew if those guys would open fire the next moment and riddle him with bullets?
The grand gift on the high table arrived swiftly and decisively.
However, Fisk couldn't understand why they didn't just fire a rocket launcher when the plane landed; that would have ended everything.
Apart from Diana, no one on that plane could have survived.
It's likely that only the person who survived and faced the mastermind behind the attack could know this; or perhaps the mastermind went crazy and came up to them to explain, but that seems highly improbable.
There's no such thing as a stupid villain.
On the other side, Diana looked at the army in front of Fisk and simply shook her head. It was partly her fault; she hadn't given Fisk enough time to prepare any necessary weapons for self-defense.
The divine power slowly constructed a full-body shield, which Diana even had the ancient Greek sun symbol engraved on with great interest.
Diana nodded in satisfaction at the shield she had created. This shield wouldn't disappear as long as she wasn't dead or her divine power wasn't dispelled. It should be enough to get Fisk through this ordeal.
Given Fisk's physical abilities, coupled with this virtually weightless object, he should have no problem surviving.
He raised his hand and threw the full-body shield constructed of divine power at Fisk.
Fisk saw the golden shield of divine power flying towards him and leaped up to catch the full-body shield that Diana had created.
When Fisk received the full-body shield, his initial slight fear gradually subsided. Diana's full-body shield, once erected in front of him, could perfectly conceal his figure.
As long as he doesn't get touched, Fisk is even confident that he can outlast this group of private soldiers.
Just as Diana threw the shield to Fisk, Szczek seized the brief opportunity and ordered his men to fire several projectiles at Diana.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!..."
Diana could clearly see the projectiles slowly deforming in the air, even combining together to form a huge capture net.
The flashing electric arcs on the net indicate that this thing has more than just the function of capturing.
Diana didn't try to avoid it, otherwise all the hard work people put into setting it up all night would be wasted.
Siztrekel never imagined that his first plan would succeed, so successfully that he felt all his previous worries were just him scaring himself.
What kind of god is this? He's just a super soldier who knows a few tricks.
But just to be on the safe side, he ordered his Hydra soldiers, armed with tranquilizer guns, to slowly approach Diana, who was already ensnared in the net.
The high-voltage current on that net could knock several elephants to the ground, coupled with the high-concentration anesthetic he bought from that coward Drekoff. Stigler didn't believe any super-soldier could remain conscious under such circumstances.
Under the net, Diana obediently lay on the ground, even closing her eyes. The occasional surge of high-voltage electricity flowing through her body made her feel incredibly comfortable. If the environment hadn't been unsuitable, she probably would have been moaning with pleasure.
Hearing the approaching footsteps around her, Diana opened her eyes and turned on the power.
The Hydra soldiers near Diana were all so frightened by this sudden scene that they retreated in panic.
Szczek, who was not approaching from a distance, breathed a sigh of relief. He was glad he hadn't let his guard down. He had chosen to send soldiers to probe first; otherwise, he might be a chicken in someone else's hands now, to be killed however they pleased.
"Fire!"
Upon seeing this, a Hydra squad leader immediately shouted and pulled the trigger of the tranquilizer gun in his hand.
After one of them fired a shot, all the Hydra soldiers frantically fired tranquilizers at Diana.
In Diana's eyes, all the tranquilizer bullets were slowing down, slowing down enough to be easily dodged. She raised her protective silver bracelet and began frantically parrying the tranquilizers aimed at her.
Diana's actions were perfectly normal to her, but to the Hydra soldiers and Sternkel, they became a horror movie.
Even super soldiers don't have the speed and power to easily block bullets.
