Ark Undead

That gap was directly facing Melanie's family.
The captain of the guard turned around helplessly and stood in front of the family.
It is only right and proper to accept money from people and help them solve their problems.
"Sir, you go first, we will be there shortly."
The captain of the guards called out twice, signaling two other guards who were under less pressure to escort Melantha and the others on foot away.
"Brownie! Catchy! You two take the master and the others and leave first!"
"Good good!"
In a panic, the father shielded Melanie with his hand and pulled his mother's hand with his other hand as they ran backward.
The two guards also turned back to help cover the family's retreat.
The captain of the guard stepped forward and used his own body to fill the gap left by the two guards who had retreated.
They were just ordinary guards, but they were also soldiers, and following the rules was an important part of Victorian etiquette culture.
Once you've signed the contract and received the money, you're expected to do things for that money.
Besides, as long as the master and his entourage go far enough, the guards won't need to risk their lives to protect them.
"Brothers! Fight and pull at the same time!"
The captain of the guard smashed the hand bone of an infected person with the iron bar in his hand, jumped back two steps, and called to his brothers to advance and retreat with him.
Working together, the group retreated through the encirclement of infected individuals.
Fortunately, the infection rate hasn't reached an outrageous level yet, and his escape route remains safe.
Melanie and her family had arrived at the exit of the residential area.
If they just kept running along the road in front of them, they would reach a bustling area in about two or three kilometers. They also saw flashing police lights in the distance, indicating that security personnel were heading their way.
"We'll be there soon! Tell Melantha to protect her wound and prevent excessive bleeding!"
The guard, Brownie, was panting as he cheered on little Melantha.
"Keep going, Melansha, don't give up!"
Melanie nodded hurriedly.
But for most people, seeing hope means they need to overcome a major obstacle.
Just like playing a game, you usually have to defeat a boss to reach the end of the level.
The dark brown energy blast struck Brownie on the back.
Brownie was hit by the energy blast, his protective suit was torn open, and the skin on his entire back was charred.
He himself staggered, unable to steady himself after being hit, and fell to the ground.
Two Molotov cocktails flew over Melantha and the others' heads and shattered in their path as they ran.
The burning liquid spilled all over the ground, startling Melansha and her family so much that they immediately stopped in their tracks.
Looking back, they could see a group of infected people emerging from another road. Upon seeing Melantha and the others, they immediately launched an attack.
"No, run!"
Chechi knew that stopping here would mean certain death. So he pulled up Melanie's mother, who was almost collapsing to the ground, and pushed the three of them to keep running forward.
He himself drew the long sword hanging at his waist, ready to attack the infected who rushed at him.
But strangely, the infected didn't rush straight towards Melantha and the others; instead, they scattered in all directions, as if a natural disaster was chasing them.
"Run! We can't win! We can't win!"
"That's a monster! He won't die! Run! Don't get in my way!"
"Get out of my way! I don't want to die!"
A series of screams and shoving occurred among the group of infected people who had run out from another road.
Behind the crowd of infected people, a figure engulfed in flames could be vaguely seen.
It wasn't until the blade pierced the chest of an infected person who hadn't had time to escape, tearing half of his body apart, that the person who had rushed out from the crowd of infected people came into view.
That guy who was infected and turned into a monster.
The black robe was already burned and curled up in a ball, and wisps of fire peeked out from the gaps in the armor, with shards of glass stuck in the gaps. But one could still sense his gaze through the gaps in the helmet.
Blood had already stained the entire suit of armor, and the gauntlets gripping the hilt of the sword looked as if they had been soaked in a pool of blood, with scarlet blood flowing down the blade.
Yet he continued to walk steadily among the infected, ruthlessly reaping the lives of all the ignorant who dared to attack him with his rusty katana.
He entered hell, but hell scattered and fled.
"A monster is coming! You guys run!"
Chechi pushed Melantha and the others forward again, staying in place to prepare to bear the wrath of the monster that had emerged from the horde of infected.
But Melantha recognized the person. She was stunned for a moment, then called out in a tearful voice.
"Teacher! Teacher, I'm here!"
The man heard Melantha's voice, turned his head, and saw Melantha.
The undead man's dulled mind barely managed to distinguish the voice, and he also recognized his disciple.
Chechi glanced back at Melantha, as if his young mistress recognized the monster?
The Undead stepped forward and walked towards Melantha, sheathing the katana in his right hand.
Chechi's heart tightened, but he still stood in front of the Undead's path with some unease.
boom!
He didn't even see how the Undead made his move before he found himself flying into the air, followed by a sharp pain in his abdomen, and then crashing heavily to the ground.
"Teacher! Teacher!"
Ignoring the wound on her hand, Melantha broke free from her father's embrace, faced the Undead, and stopped in front of him.
"Xiao Mei!"
The mother instinctively tried to pull Melanie back, but the father held her back.
The father understood that Melantha must know the Undead, and the armored man whom Melantha called her teacher also put away his weapon.
"Teacher, did you come to find me? Let's go together to the city! You're injured!"
Melantha instinctively reached out to hug the undead. But as soon as she got close, she smelled an extremely strong metallic odor, and only then did she realize the undead's condition.
His armor was deformed from being smashed to the ground by magic and various blunt weapons. A piece of his breastplate was broken, and there was even a small knife stuck in his chest.
Only the person under the helmet remained calm and silent, as if he had not been injured at all.
Melantha was somewhat at a loss. She tried to reach out and pull the dagger from the undead's chest, but saw the undead shake its head.
"Just a wound."
He squatted down in front of Melantha, and the undead man who squatted down was only slightly shorter than Melantha.
His gaze lingered on Melantha's arm for a moment before he spoke.
"You're not dead, that's good. Here's something for you."
He reached into the small bag on his waist and took out a small object.
The Undead looked down and saw that the blood on his gauntlet had stained the badge red. He instinctively reached for his black robe to wipe the blood away.
But the black robe had long since been burned to ashes by the Molotov cocktail.
The immortal paused for a moment, and Melantha handed him a handkerchief.
"Teacher, use mine."
The pale purple handkerchief emitted a pleasant scent, but unfortunately, the undead had no sense of smell.
It's the scent of Melanie's favorite perfume, and it's a blend of fragrances she selected and mixed herself.
"Open."
The immortal pointed to the handkerchief and gestured for Melantha to unfold it.
Melansha obediently unfolded the handkerchief.
"This is a gift."
The Undead placed the badge in his hand on Melantha's unfolded handkerchief.
"Keep it safe."
Melantha wiped the blood off the badge in her hand with a handkerchief, carefully trying to observe what pattern was engraved on it.
The badge was exquisite, made of precious metal. However, the patterns were somewhat obscured by the blood.
The Undead stopped Melantha from looking at the gifts there.
"Turn around and run."
The immortal looked back.
The infected who had just been driven back by his slaughter had regrouped as more infected surged up, glaring at him menacingly.
The danger has not left; many infected individuals still covet Melantha and the Undead's lives.
They wanted to kill the monster to banish their cowardice.
17. "Aftermath"
“Let’s go together!” Melantha reached out and took the Undead’s hand.
The icy gauntlets were warmed by the enemy's blood. Despite the slightly unpleasant, sticky feeling, Melantha gripped the undead's hand tightly.
She was afraid, afraid of losing him.
"The security forces from the Upper District are just ahead! We'll be safe soon!"
Melantha looked at the Undead with hopeful eyes.
"When the time comes, teacher, you can teach me swordsmanship every day, and I'll buy you as much firewood as you want!"
