Ark Undead
Page 252
When the Undead and Amiya arrived in the arena, everyone looked up at the Undead.
Standing next to Ace and Blaze were two other Rhodes Island elite operators whose faces were not shown.
On Kal'tsit's side, the one adjusting the machines and electronic circuits is also a Sarkaz with two horns on his head.
Judging from her ears and skin color, she also seems to be a blood demon?
"Ah, Mr. Undead, you've arrived."
When Ace looked up and saw the Undead, he immediately smiled and greeted him.
"Let me introduce you. This is Scout, and this is Logos. They are among the few elite operators currently on Rhodes Island. Um... there are some other elite operators currently on missions outside the island, but unfortunately I can't introduce them to you as well."
Hello everyone.
The undead extended his right hand, and Scout shook hands with him without any hesitation. He then smelled the scent in the air.
"It smells strongly of blood, the scent of a powerful warrior."
Logos, standing next to Scout, touched his chin. He didn't extend his hand to shake hands with the Undead, but expressed his respect verbally.
"I heard you're also skilled in Originium Arts? I know some spells; we can exchange ideas sometime."
"Spells?"
The immortal paused for a moment when he heard this before asking.
"Sarkaz, sorcery?"
"To be precise, it's an incantation, but simply describing it as an incantation doesn't fully capture its essence, so I prefer to call it a spell."
Logos showed the Undead their spells.
He wrote a short passage on a piece of paper, and as the paper was folded in half, when Logos unfolded it again, the entire piece of paper began to burn violently and extremely quickly.
This was the first time the Undead had ever seen such Originium magic, and they couldn't help but become interested in it.
Just as he was about to ask for some details, he heard a voice from the side.
"Mr. Undying, the test preparations are complete and we can begin at any time."
She was Instructor Dobermann, and she looked at the undead with a hint of respect.
She had witnessed firsthand the undead's skill, how she could effortlessly sever Melantha's advance with a single strike amidst her whirlwind attacks. Dobermann knew he couldn't do that.
The strong always deserve respect, even if they have never met.
"Then, let's begin."
The Undead turned around and nodded to the group of elite operators, who then stepped aside and went upstairs to the observation room.
When only the Undead remained in the room, a sound suddenly came from the loudspeaker.
"The first test is a test of the direction of force."
As the sound rang out, a gap appeared in the middle of the steel ground, and an object resembling a sandbag gradually rose up.
"Please don't hold back. Without using Originium Arts, use your full strength to bombard the target in front of you."
The undead did not remove his greatsword. He approached the target and stood on the lit footprints on the ground.
Amiya was in charge of broadcasting, while the other operators were responsible for data collection. At this moment, everyone was intently watching the undead below.
Scout leaned close to Ace and whispered something.
"To what extent do you think it can go?"
Ace glanced back at Scout, smiled, and asked.
"bet?"
"Why not? Just have some fun. Don't forget, the previous game isn't over yet, and this is so boring."
Scout shrugged and glanced at the scene below. "The Undead are already preparing," he quickly said.
“A bottle of Corona, I bet he’ll punch that thing at least three times.”
Ace quickly spoke up and revealed his bet.
"Then I'll have a bottle of Corona too. I bet he'll punch this thing away."
Just as the two were still talking, everyone felt as if their ears had exploded, with a huge roar.
boom!
And right after this tremendous roar came the incessant sound of shifting sands.
But that was just the sound of countless tiny particles made up of sensors flowing out of the container.
Scout and Ace exchanged a glance, both looking somewhat shocked.
They all lost.
"WTF, this is soft steel! Is he really using his fists?"
Scout couldn't resist moving closer to the glass to get a better look.
But no matter how he sees it, he cannot change the established facts.
"To be more precise, this is not just mild steel; it is a new material that is inferior to D32 steel in hardness. However, it performs on par with D32 steel in other properties. It even surpasses D32 steel in ductility and toughness."
Kal'tsit added appropriate commentary from the side, while patting the operator who was still standing there in a daze on the shoulder.
"Take a note! What are you standing there for?"
"Oh oh oh!"
The operator then looked at the screen.
The last number displayed on the screen was a string of incomprehensible gibberish.
"Ah... the sensor seems unable to record values; it must have exceeded the preset limit of the recording code."
The operator looked back at Kal'tsit, somewhat bewildered; he didn't know what to do.
The testers are broken; we can't possibly retest them all, can we?!
"..."
Kal'tsit sighed and waved her hand.
"Next, let's find someone to clean up the sensor particles scattered on the ground."
Then, she wrote two words on the form in her hand.
unknown.
150. An unspeakable outcome
The test on the undead ended quickly. Kal'tsit left before all the data was fully available.
After Kal'tsit left, another person chased after her and came to the corridor with her.
“I think we need to talk, Kal'tsit.”
Warfarin, holding the form in her hand, blocked Kal'tsit's path, her expression unusually serious.
Despite being suspended on deck all day yesterday, this did not affect Warfarin's participation in today's undead combat training.
Rather, it's more accurate to say that Kal'tsit only suspended him for one day so that Warfarin could participate in the undead combat test the next day. This is because Warfarin's research on blood and the human body is at a legendary level.
"What do you want to talk about? Do you want some more blood from his body?"
Kal'tsit looked at the blood demon before her. She knew that she couldn't escape this conversation.
"This isn't about blood anymore. He never used Originium Arts from beginning to end, did he?"
Warfarin stared intently at Kal'tsit in front of her and spoke earnestly.
"To achieve this level in all tests without the slightest fluctuation in Originium Arts, don't tell me you don't know what level his physical abilities are. Even that girl who crawled out of the sea doesn't have a body of this level."
"Why won't you let us analyze his anatomy? If he were willing to provide even a little data, it would be a huge contribution to medicine. Besides, don't forget our current goal!"
Warfarin was naturally referring to Oripathy. Given his undead abilities, his physical attributes were undoubtedly monstrous. If he hadn't contracted Oripathy, then it might be possible to use his blood to actively combat the disease.
Blood is the easiest bodily fluid to obtain and is also the most effective for medical research.
How could Kal'tsit not know these things? Of course she does.
“I don’t believe you don’t understand how worthwhile this is to do. I don’t know why they came to Rhodes Island. But now that they’re one of us, even if only temporarily, can’t we even ask them?”
What Warfarin couldn't understand the most was this: as the head of the medical department, Kal'tsit should have been the one most concerned about Oripathy, and in normal times, she truly was.
But when it comes to things involving the undead, Kal'tsit seems to have completely forgotten about Oripathy.
Yesterday, before Warfarin was hung outside the deck, she had a brief exchange with Kal'tsit on the way.
Taking advantage of the fact that no one was around, Warfarin asked her why she was unwilling to let her take some of the warriors' blood.
That's what Kal'tsit said at the time.
"I'm afraid I'll scare him."
Okay, Warfarin understands. Besides, she wasn't sure whether the War Knight had reached this level through Originium Arts or his own physical abilities, so Warfarin would just have to bear with it.
But after today's results came out, Warfarin really couldn't stand it anymore.
Not only her, but many staff members in the medical department also cast curious glances at the immortals, hoping to obtain even a little bit of information about their bodily tissues.
Even though things had come to this point, Kal'tsit still didn't speak, or even show any intention to.
When confronted by Warfarin, Kal'tsit simply sighed.
Then she replied
Do you think such physical data is real?
"I didn't believe it at first either, but isn't it all clearly laid out before us? Did you already know this would be the outcome?"
Warfarin glanced at Kal'tsit in front of her with a puzzled look.
"I don't believe you could have foreseen this place..."
"I have said that I know everything."
After Kal'tsit said those words, her expression visibly relaxed, as if she had finally gotten the words out and felt relieved.
