250. Golden Knight & Frostnova
On the endless wilderness, a knight clad in golden armor sheathed his lance.
Not a drop of blood stained the iron spear. But right beside him, a horde of corpses lay on the ground.
Their bodies have all undergone varying degrees of mutation.
Some had their heads transformed into a sticky, round ball resembling a marine creature, while others had their limbs branching outwards into several tentacles and unidentified limbs.
The knight himself didn't care about these people.
Compared to his towering figure, these people looked like dwarfs from a fairy tale.
Without comparison, no one would realize that his body was two or even three times the height of an average person, so much so that the spear he carried on his back was as thick as a fist.
The golden armor gleamed in the sunlight, while the helmet unexpectedly featured a lion-shaped carving. Although not overly detailed, it was likely due to scratches and damage from long battles.
Beside this tall and imposing knight was a woman traveling with him.
Compared to the knights, this woman had a similar physique to the "dwarves" lying on the ground.
Even so, she still has a height that is enough to make her stand out among ordinary women.
The spear in her hand, like the tall knight beside her, was unstained by any blood.
"The sound of the tide grew more and more ferocious; even here, I could hear its roar."
The woman's white hair barely reached her shoulders, but the wispy strands obscured one of her eyes, making the other look somewhat cold.
However, the close-fitting combat uniform, the overcoat with its loose tail, and the bright red rose-shaped ornament below the collar gave her an air of elegance in addition to her heroic bearing.
“These monsters have even appeared on the inland borders of Iberia. I think the situation has probably deviated greatly from what we initially expected.”
Her voice, like her appearance, was cold and hard, like a layer of tiny water droplets clinging to a sheet of ice. Even when held tightly in one's hand, it was always in danger of slipping away and slipping out of control.
The Golden Knight glanced back in the direction of Iberia.
The sun streaked across the horizon, leaving a large, fiery trail that was clearly outlined by the clouds.
"The evil god who was supposedly suppressed here."
The Golden Knight's voice didn't sound old, but it possessed a strange sense of depth. It was like a solemn call from the end of time, lingering in the ear, yet impossible to grasp.
"What's the story in your Agorian legends again? There was a hero who rose from the darkness, and what did he do?"
"He used his sword to cut the chains that bound our bodies, so that we no longer needed to seal our eyes, ears, mouths, and noses, and could open our eyes to see. He also used his sky-covering flames to relentlessly burn the boundless sea, so that we could break through the clouds and see the sun, and emerge from the deep seabed to breathe."
The woman snorted, seemingly not entirely agreeing with the legend.
"While it certainly provides ample reference, haven't we both seen the Mother Goddess's appearance? If such a monster could truly be defeated by a hero, why would we need to guard the boundless sea?"
She crossed her arms over her chest, her eyes calm. But the deathly stillness hidden beneath that calm remained unknown to others.
"I never believed that such a hero existed. If he did, why wasn't he there when we needed him most?"
At this point, she raised her head and looked at the golden knight to her side.
"What do you think, Onstan?"
The Golden Knight, known as Onstan, looked down at the woman beside him.
In those cold, crimson eyes, he clearly saw a trace of hatred and regret.
Perhaps it was after that disaster that she felt remorse for failing to save her hometown.
Even so, Onstan did not immediately agree with the woman's words.
Instead, after thinking carefully for a while, he shook his head and whispered.
"I can't say."
As a relic of the previous generation, he didn't know if there were any other remnants in the world like himself, surviving from that era.
But when he saw the letter sent to him by the disciple of Kuranta, the inheritor of this generation's Dragon Slayer Spear Technique, he unexpectedly learned another piece of news that was enough to make his blood boil.
There is a Lord of Cinder who started everything and ended everything, and he is still alive.
He was the destined immortal hero, and also the generation destroyer who ended this broken fate.
But no matter what, the significance he left behind in that era cannot be erased.
He is both the beginning and the end.
And how could such a heroic figure appear here?
If it is him, then those legends in history may not be just legends.
That should be a miracle that people will sing of for generations to come, just as their Lord was in that era of flourishing flames.
Could there be some untold secret?
Regardless, the Golden Knight could no longer suppress his inner impulses.
His fighting spirit, which had not been rekindled since he emerged from the mountains, was now burning fiercely.
Regardless, he knew he should go see him.
"Gloria, our journey has come to an end for now."
As the Golden Knight spoke, the woman on the ground looked at him with some surprise.
"You quit?"
"No."
Onstan shook his head, not out of fear, but because he had other things to do.
“I promised my disciple that I would go to see someone after this incident was temporarily over.”
After a moment's pause, he said.
"Do you want to come with me? I think you'd be interested."
The Agorian woman, known as Goredia, shook her head without hesitation.
As Onstan said, he had things to do. For Goredia, her work was not yet over.
“Thank you very much for the invitation, Onstan. But as you know, I also have my own work to do.”
Goredia's conversation with Onstan was surprisingly polite.
"Regardless, I am very grateful for your help during this time, and I hope to have the opportunity to fight together again."
"It will happen."
Onstan nodded; he had a very strong premonition.
The next time they meet, it might not just be the two of them.
Goredia didn't linger; that was just her nature. After ending the exchange, she shouldered her spear and left for the next location.
Onstan watched Greta leave, then carefully pulled the tiny letter from his chest with two fingers.
After unfolding it, Onstan read it again.
"Longmen... huh."
Unexpectedly, it was within the territory of Yan Kingdom.
Speaking of which, I wonder if there's any hot pot in Longmen?
I'm really looking forward to it.
Rhode Island Medical Center Nursing Area.
When the Undead arrived at the medical area, it was very quiet.
Lin Guang and the others aren't here; they're probably in a special area conducting physical examinations on the people rescued from Chernobog.
Rhodes Island did not accept all the refugees. Even the students they brought back would not stay here during this period, but would live together in a special resettlement area in Lungmen.
Therefore, not many doctors remained at Rhodes Island headquarters.
However, some key medics will still be here. After all, priority should be given to treating combat personnel, and the people at Rhodes Island headquarters also need the help of medics.
For example, Warfarin, Kal'tsit, and some elite operators.
Outside the medical department, there were some other people waiting.
Big Bear from the Yeti Squad, and the two leaders of the guerrillas.
When they saw the immortals, they even stood up and greeted them.
"Mr. War Knight, you've arrived."
Big Bear was the first to come up and greet the Undead.
He wasn't unfamiliar with the Undead; he had even shared a meal with them by the campfire alongside Frostnova.
Although the Undead didn't eat anything at all.
"Let me take a look, Froststar."
The Undead nodded to the bear, then glanced at the two shield guards behind him.
The two shield bearers nodded to the undead.
No one wants to mess with this god of death. The fact that he could defeat Patriot on the front lines is enough to demonstrate just how powerful the Undead are. And that's not even his limit.
"How is she?"
The Undead asked Big Bear, explaining that Big Bear had been guarding this place all this time. After all, she was their eldest sister, and currently the Yeti team's only hope.
The Yeti Squad and the guerrillas will stay on Rhodes Island entirely for Frostnova.
It can be said that the now slightly more normalized Reunion Movement is just waiting for Frostnova's attitude.
After Talulah's death, Frostnova became the only remaining leader of Reunion.
"Her physical condition is optimistic, but her mental condition..."
Big Bear led the Undead to the glass wall next to them.
Through the clear glass, you can see Froststar lying on the bed with her white hair.
Her face was surprisingly rosy, and the air conditioner in the upper right corner of the room was on heating mode.
Even so, the real-time temperature display on the wall still showed a relatively low temperature.
