Ark Undead

Page 453

In today's Terra, humanity is so rare that it has reached a dead end.

A large part of the reason why the Undead join Rhodes Island is that Rhodes Island possesses the technology to purify humanity from Originium.

Humanity can restore the appearance of the immortal to human form and revitalize their thinking, allowing reason and emotion to once again fill human feelings.

Humanity is very precious, but if it is humanity that exists independently and becomes active after leaving the body, then that is another matter.

Such human nature is highly likely to be tainted by polluted things, tainted by the abyss of greed and gluttony.

To maintain their own existence and to plunder more humanity, they approach living beings at an extremely slow pace, stealing the humanity that belongs to them from the living. Then they corrupt the original owner's spirit and body, turning them into believers in the abyss.

The reason why humanity compels the undead to move forward is certainly not because the undead are attracted by humanity.

Rather, this group of people has a strange nature.

When the undead and the greyhound appeared, it did not approach them. Instead, it stayed put and tried to lure them away.

This in itself is full of uncertainty. Especially when the immortals come within five meters of humanity, humanity itself begins to slowly stir.

Seeing that humanity had finally moved, the immortals also stopped in their tracks.

Just then, right next to humanity, a golden bolt of lightning flashed by and struck the surging mass of dark humanity.

Human nature, like a frightened wild beast, immediately took two steps back.

Only the immortals noticed that there were several talismans similar to those at the entrance pasted on the ceiling and floor.

The talismans here are quite dull, unlike the bright and shiny talismans on the door, and they could lose their luster at any time.

Someone has imprisoned humanity here, not allowing it to move.

Upon closer inspection, the twisted corpses on the ground, so close to human nature, were all lying in a circle around those talismans.

In other words, these talismans are used to suppress these corpses, preventing them from approaching humanity.

The corpses came in all sorts of strange shapes, but most of them were characterized by marine life.

There are humanoid monsters with gills and fins, and there are also soft humanoid monsters with tentacles and a slippery surface.

The Undead and Greyhounds just killed one of those humanoid monsters with tentacles and a huge head.

"Here are some talismans."

The immortal turned around and asked a question.

"Talismans, are they related to the Great Yan Dynasty?"

"Of course it's related. Talismans are the means by which celestial masters use their abilities."

Greyhound didn't look in the direction of the Undead, but he immediately perked up after hearing the talisman.

Forcibly suppressing his urge to look up, Greyhound continued to explain.

"The Celestial Masters of the Great Yan are a group of sorcerers who possess the power to move mountains and overturn seas, and can summon heavenly lightning to attack enemies. According to them, Celestial Master is just a title, but each Celestial Master has their own unique abilities. However, they all practice thunder magic, which can be considered the national defense force of the Great Yan."

Thunder Magic.

Upon hearing these two words, the immortal immediately understood what kind of power was contained within these talismans.

Without listening to Greyhound's further explanation, the Undead bowed his head, bent over, and stretched out his hand.

"How can a talisman lose its power?"

"I'm not too sure about that. There are many kinds of talismans. But generally only the Celestial Master can remove a talisman, and once it's removed, it will no longer work."

As Greyhound spoke, the Undead reached out and touched a talisman.

The talisman's dim patterns lit up again, and lightning surged towards the enemies who tried to touch the seal.

But the lightning paused briefly upon touching the undead's body before continuing to surge into it.

But this surge wasn't for attack. It was like a lost child finding their way home, filled with excitement.

In less than a second, the light on the talisman dimmed completely, and the Undead easily ripped it off the ground.

He looked down at his palm; as he opened and closed it, a faint golden lightning surged within it—lightning magic that had not yet been absorbed by the Primordial Flame.

The Undead nodded slightly, now completely confirming the relationship between Lei Fa and himself.

It was absolutely a miracle that he himself had passed on; even the nature of the power was exactly the same, posing no harm whatsoever to the undead.

But with the talisman removed, the power to restrain human nature was reduced.

Then they saw mist spreading out from the surging darkness, somehow avoiding the undead, and spreading outwards.

The black mist that was emitted acted like bait, spreading out into all the gaps and cracks around it, and in a short time it covered the greyhound.

The greyhound had been keeping its head down, but when it saw the black mist creeping up to its feet, it immediately felt a strong urge to look up and take a look.

Fortunately, the warmth from his shoulder spread throughout his body again, allowing him to control this strange impulse.

"What are you doing?"

But Greyhound sensed that the Undead seemed to be tampering with that thing called humanity.

"This thing is a bit too eerie. I think we should..."

Before he could finish speaking, strange cries echoed from several distant passageways throughout the underground plaza.

Ee!! JPY#%……&

It was jarring and made me dizzy.

Greyhound gritted his teeth, trying not to be bothered by the echoing sound, and shouted loudly.

"Something's coming! Watch out!"

After saying that, the greyhound turned around and looked back in the direction it had come from.

In the darkness, a claw flashed past, heading straight for the greyhound's chest, about to plunge into his flesh.

Ding!

A crystal-blue circular membrane suddenly appeared in front of the greyhound. He took two steps back and then clenched his right hand into a fist.

From the knuckles, segment after segment of crystal creations spread across the entire arm and then blasted forward.

boom!

A loud crash came from the knuckles and the tip of the claw. The withered, sinister giant claw was smashed off by the immense force, and the sky-blue crystal on the gray dog's arm also shattered and flew off the arm in the direction of the gray dog's force, piercing into the body of the monster hidden in the darkness.

The greyhound took a few more steps back and approached the Undead.

Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted at least three monsters of the same type at the exits of the passageways around the circular plaza.

"My goodness..."

Greyhound said in shock, but his body was already glowing with a crystal blue light.

"Are these the same kind we just encountered?!"

"I was attracted and came here."

The immortals turned their heads and glanced at them.

These monsters must have been drawn here by the surge of humanity before them.

The immortals also sensed a surge of power similar to that of humanity emanating from those monsters.

It seems that this very place, which embodies human nature, influenced them and made them stay here.

No wonder the Taoist priests chose to only set up talismans. In this light, the fact that the Shangshu Police Station suffered only a dozen or twenty casualties and managed to survive these monsters is already a remarkable achievement.

Their target, unsurprisingly, is humanity in the face of the immortals.

The undead reached out its hand, trying to touch the living humanoid figure.

This single action enraged all the monsters.

In the darkness obscuring the light, the monsters stretched their shadows as they lunged toward the undead in the center.

Greyhound was standing about ten meters behind the Undead. When he saw this, he was about to go over and pull the Undead away when he saw the monster in front of him roar and charge out, completely ignoring the crystallized fragments still stuck in its body.

Left with no other choice, Greyhound had to face the monster in front of him first. He crouched down to dodge the first claw attack, then lowered his body and lunged forward, throwing a punch at the monster's chest.

At the same time, a loud bang also erupted behind Greyhound.

boom!

A blazing flame, like a sun, exploded from the person dressed in black.

A massive ring of fire emanated from the inside out, pushing back the filthy monsters that lunged at them, while the escaping flames burned on their bodies for a long time.

The monster in front of the Greyhound was hit twice by the Greyhound and also affected by the ring of fire that passed through the Greyhound and crashed into it.

The clawed monster flew backward and crashed into the wall, where it began screaming as it tried to extinguish the flames on its body.

The piercing sound sent shivers down the greyhound's spine.

Greyhound watched as the jet-black monster screamed in agony as it burned under the flames, eventually burning itself out and falling silent, turning to ashes in a few seconds.

He blinked and looked back at the Undead.

"Holy crap...you're amazing!"

The immortal man, still staring at the living human before him, simply nodded.

"Ah."

The monster's pitiful screams filled his ears, but the Undead remained unmoved, continuing to reach out and touch the living human.

The activated humanoid seemed to sense the immense threat posed by the undead, and began to retreat on its own.

At the top of humanity, the mysterious halo resembling human eyes and mouth also turned in a different direction.

It is in fear; it is fleeing.

But when the golden flames ignite, nothing can escape.

The initial flame seemed to have captured the most delicious food, bursting into flames in the palm of the Undead, which was only a few inches in size, and instantly engulfing that dark humanity.

Greyhound watched as that mass of humanity went from being alluring at the beginning, to struggling silently, and then becoming transparent and disappearing into the flames.

He felt he had grasped the key point.

"Your power... really likes this thing?"

"They were originally one."
