"Is this really the Rhodes Island branch?"

Nian couldn't help but ask a question.

The greyhound, however, nodded calmly without batting an eye.

"Yes, this is Rhodes Island's Shangshu branch. It's just that because there aren't many people coming, it's basically not been cleaned."

"Is that so...?"

When she saw the table next to her that was missing a leg, she didn't poke at it.

The greyhound's clothes were already tattered, indicating that he must have encountered some problem that prevented him from even maintaining a decent life.

"So where do you live?"

Nian then asked.

The greyhound pointed to the room inside, then stood at the door with its arms crossed, clearly not wanting Nian to go in and take a look.

The more Nian looked at the person in front of her, the more she felt there was something wrong with him.

Is this really the Rhodes Island branch? Why is it so dilapidated?

This wasn't the first time she'd asked herself this question. But seeing the badge on Greyhound's uniform chest, she refrained from asking him again.

Greyhound sat on the bench, couldn't help but burp, then rubbed his nose and asked.

"So, what brings you to the Rhodes Island branch so late at night?"

She paused for a moment, then suddenly found it difficult to say it.

She was initially interested in Rhodes Island and wanted to learn more about what kind of organization it was.

I've heard rumors along the way, and Rhodes Island is currently enjoying great popularity in Terra.

Just as the events of Lungmen and Chernobog came to an end, Rhodes Island's reputation for thwarting the Reunion Movement's plans gradually spread throughout Terra along with numerous trade exchanges.

Longmen was originally the gateway to the Great Yan, so the people of Great Yan naturally knew many details related to this incident.

Nian had her own ideas; she wanted to go to Rhode Island to see what kind of place it was. Could she find help there, given her desire for change?

But when she saw the greyhound, she suddenly couldn't speak.

"Okay, I admit, this place is a bit run-down."

Seeing the way the greyhound looked at the New Year, he sighed but still spoke frankly.

"Actually, the person who came before you almost left because of the environment here. But there are reasons for this. Two years ago, we lost contact with headquarters and lost financial support, which led to the decline of the Shangshu Rhodes Island branch. So you don't need to associate this place with headquarters."

As a veteran operator of Rhodes Island, Greyhound naturally wants to save face for his organization.

Upon hearing this, Nian nodded slightly, thinking that this made sense. If Rhodes Island's presence in Great Yan was originally like this, then Rhodes Island itself probably wouldn't be much better.

However, upon hearing Greyhound mention two years, Nian's expression remained unchanged. He simply switched the order of his legs, which were crossed, and then spoke.

"If I want to visit Rhodes Island headquarters, can you help me?"

Greyhound was taken aback; this was the first time in the past two years that he had heard such a request.

In Greyhound's memory, Da Yan was the best place for the general public to live.

Although there are many problems here, the ancient culture and heritage of the Great Yan Dynasty have allowed it to stand firm and there is not much internal strife.

Everyone has clothes to wear, food to eat, and their own job.

The girl in front of me wasn't dressed badly, and she didn't seem like someone who was desperate. Why was she looking for Rhodes Island?

It wasn't that Greyhound was being paranoid; it was just that not many people had heard of Rhodes Island before the Lungmen incident.

During the transition from Babel to Rhodes Island, Kal'tsit maintained a low profile, which resulted in many insiders only knowing about Babel and having only a vague understanding of Rhodes Island.

The sudden appearance of a girl who claims to be interested in Rhodes Island seems somewhat illogical.

Then, Greyhound thought for a moment and asked.

"Do you...do you need any help?"

Nian shook his head.

The greyhound was starting to have second thoughts.

After thinking for a moment, she didn't answer Greyhound's question, but instead asked Greyhound a question.

Have you ever heard of someone who is 20 years old?

Greyhound froze for a moment, then goosebumps rose all over his body. When he looked at Nian again, Nian's pale purple eyes seemed to be shining, staring intently at him.

The greyhound unconsciously swallowed, its whole body tingling, and slowly nodded.

"I've heard of it."

"very good."

Nian nodded in agreement.

It seems that she doesn't need to offer any further explanation.

280. That's a divine general!

"Sui is the name of that divine beast. With the erosion of time, even the meaning of the name itself will be forgotten. But this name still has a profound influence on the land of Great Yan."

Seeing that the immortal man showed no doubt, Onstan continued speaking.

"In the legends of the Great Yan, divine beasts are key figures in helping the Great Yan win the war. It is because of the betrayal of the divine beasts that ordinary people of the Great Yan have the power to resist the gods."

"And the divine beast itself was also a god in the war of killing gods. It was just that for some special reason, it turned against the Great Yan side."

Onstan said all of this to set the stage for what he was about to say.

"You've probably learned something from Wei Yanwu: every few years, the Great Yan Dynasty launches a special southern expedition. In reality, the demons in the south have been largely subdued, thanks to the so-called True Fire left behind by the Divine General... that is, you."

The Undead raised an eyebrow; without his mask, any expression or movement of his was seen by Onstan.

Seeing that the immortal still had objections, Onstan quickly spoke up.

"Don't tell me it's not completely certain yet. Since they say you're a divine general, then you are a divine general. Let's proceed according to this logic for now."

The Undead then nodded slightly, signaling Onstan to continue.

"Since the ancient gods you defeated in that war needed to be suppressed by the Primordial Flame, their origins can be understood to some extent."

"You mean, the gods themselves are the abyss, the creators?"

The Undead paused for a moment, then continued on from what Onstan had said.

Onstan nodded, then shook his head.

"While it's not entirely true, there's definitely a connection."

"After all, every year there are still people who need to clean up the overflowing demons in the southern region. Those monsters are called demons, and they can be restrained by the Primordial Fire, which says something about them."

"Following this line of thought, since the gods who died in the war against the gods were all from the forces of the abyss, what is the background of this divine beast that turned against them?"

The Undead broke off a piece of firewood and almost couldn't recover from Onstan's theory.

He threw the firewood into the campfire in front of him and said.

"The Abyss, turning against the Great Yan? You're not kidding, are you?"

"It's not impossible, after all, the founding emperor of the Great Yan Dynasty was not the only one present at the time, but also you."

Onstan pointed to the Undead and said seriously.

"The reason why the divine beast agreed to participate in this war is probably not because of the request of the founding emperor of the Great Yan Dynasty, but more because it does not want to confront the Primordial Fire head-on. This sounds a bit absurd, but only you and I know that it is not impossible."

The Undead nodded, much like Seath the White Dragon in the Dragon Hunt.

Despite being on the side of the dragons, they turned against the gods who possessed the power of fire, and turned against their own kind.

And so he became the last ancient dragon to be seen in public after the Dragon Hunt.

The reason for this is that it believes the power of fire is invincible, and that a new chapter should begin. It also has sufficient reason to hate its own kind and to seek profit through war.

If we follow Onstan's theory, the fact that the divine beast sided with the Great Yan might have been partly due to the efforts of the Undying.

"After the war ended, the divine beast split into many fragments, each using its own power to protect the land of Great Yan. This is the legendary final outcome. However, in the Great Yan government, there is a specially established department called the Suitai."

"The job of the Si Sui Terrace is to negotiate and communicate with the fragments that split off from the divine beast called 'Sui,' to understand their purpose and the current status of the fragments. And, when necessary, to handle emergencies."

Onstan picked up a piece of firewood from the side, tapped it twice in his hand, and continued speaking.

“A long time ago, when I was traveling in the Great Yan, I encountered people from the Si Sui Terrace. At that time, they regarded me as one of the fragments of a divine beast, tried to contact me, and passively revealed some special information.”

Onstan threw the firewood in his hand into the fire, he said.

"The fragments of the divine beast are alive. And they are still wandering the land of Great Yan. It is possible that a passerby you meet today is a fragment that has been hiding as human activity."

"The Si Sui Tai and the official government of the Great Yan once cooperated extensively with a fragment of a divine beast. That fragment even served in the army on the border of the Great Yan and fought against demons for decades."

"The fragments possess their own powers, subtly influencing the daily lives, social structures, and various cultural traditions of the people of Da Yan."

"But some fragments are different. They cannot control their behavior, and neither can the Great Yan nor the other divine beast fragments predict their behavior. Moreover, the influence of these fragments is so great that every time they commit a crime, it will cause great destruction."

Onstan smiled.

"How about it? Does it sound familiar?"

"Abyssification?"

The more the Undead listened to the description, the more familiar it seemed.

Onstan nodded.

"It's very similar to the Abyss, but I can't be sure what it is. Only when you see it with your own eyes and confirm it with the Primordial Flame will you be qualified to draw a conclusion."

"After all, you are a divine general, and I am not."

The Undead thought for a moment and realized that all Onstan had said was simply to tell him about the current situation of the Great Flame Divine Beast.

These intelligent fragments that split off from the divine beast may become abyssal, and there is even a special department to deal with this divine beast called "Sui". Doesn't that mean that the Great Yan is not at ease?

Perhaps the reason why the people of Shangshu did not actively destroy the demon seed but only imprisoned it is because there is a fragment of a divine beast behind it?

The conversation with Onstan might not unravel any mysteries for the Undead, but it at least gave him a direction and helped him temporarily understand the current situation in the Great Yan Dynasty.

Just as Onstan said, Great Yan is not the safest country on the entire Terra continent; they also have their own problems.
