W frowned slightly and asked, feigning ignorance.

"Or perhaps you've been thinking of yourself as a Rhodes Island resident for too long and have forgotten your true identity, Greyhound-senpai?"

Before W could finish speaking, his pupils suddenly contracted.

The greyhound's figure disappeared from the spot, leaving behind a pale blue humanoid shadow.

A gust of wind swept across W's face, and in an instant, the greyhound was right in front of W.

The murderous intent in his eyes sent a chill down W's spine. The blue crystal in his left hand suddenly surged, forming a razor-sharp crystal facet on his palm, which silently attacked W's smooth neck.

click.

The severed mechanism and silk threads broke apart, and a small crossbow was cleaved in two by the sharp crystal cut.

W himself retreated rapidly until he was pressed against the wall behind him.

Greyhound, however, was relentless. He pushed off with his feet and charged forward again. The light in his hands shifted, and the blue crystal in his left hand detached itself from his palm, then flew out in the form of a blade with a flick of his wrist.

Those blades sealed off W's left and right sides, leaving W with nowhere to escape.

This is Greyhound's Originium Arts, which allows him to materialize crystals for use as weapons.

W frowned and gritted his teeth; he couldn't hide anymore.

She could tell that the greyhound really wanted to kill her.

So W pulled out two small pieces of Originium explosives from his lower back, activated their detonation ability, set the detonation distance, and threw them directly at the Greyhound in front of him.

Greyhound didn't pay much attention at first, but when the stone exploded right in front of him, he realized that it was actually a small bomb.

Fortunately, Greyhound was experienced in combat, and the crystal shield protecting his body only caused him to be thrown backward by the impact, without sustaining any damage.

W escaped the narrow wall area immediately and returned to the main road.

The sound of explosions echoed through the streets, but given that it was close to the Spring Festival, the explosions were not surprising.

However, this amount of Originium explosives is already the limit, and W can only use it for self-defense.

Greyhound removed the crystal shield from his sight and turned back to look at W, who was standing on the street.

W looked on with suspicion.

Is this guy even one of Theresis's men?!

The intelligence I received stated that he had infiltrated the Tower of Babel as an undercover agent and had been consistently transmitting messages to Theresis, thus concluding that he had not betrayed the organization.

What does he mean by that?

W stared intently at the greyhound's body, not daring to relax his gaze for even a moment.

The greyhound is so fast that if you're not careful, it will catch you in front of you.

After thinking for a moment, W asked the question.

"How did Rhodes Island bribe you? Are the king's promises less valuable than those of a defeated army?!"

The greyhound's frivolous expression was gone.

His disdain was clearly visible even in the shadows.

"Your Majesty?"

The greyhound chuckled softly.

"You really think highly of him."

W paused for a moment, and a bold guess came to her mind.

However, this guess is a bit too coincidental and dramatic.

But then they heard the greyhound speak again.

“I acknowledge only one king, and that bastard Theresis is not worthy of my loyalty.”

He raised his right hand, and the blue crystal that appeared out of thin air condensed into a short knife in his hand, which he held and tucked into his chest.

"There's one more thing you're wrong about."

The greyhound stuck out its tongue and brushed it across its upper lip, revealing the Sarkaz's belligerent nature.

"I am not from Rhodes Island."

His eyes, I don't know when, seemed to be flashing with a scarlet light.

"I remain loyal to the Tower of Babel, even though it has long since collapsed."

295. We're all on the same side!

Before the words were even finished, the greyhound's figure transformed into a black shadow once more, appearing to fly close to the ground in the veil of night, as it lunged at W with its body pressed down.

Even the experienced W only subconsciously drew his dagger from his lower back and held it in front of him.

Ding!

A bright blue light and the flashes of fire from intersecting blades appeared simultaneously before W's eyes.

W felt a tremendous force strike her wrist. She gritted her teeth and planted her feet firmly on the ground to barely withstand the greyhound's attack.

The shimmering blue crystals spreading from his arm completely blocked W's dodge route.

Just as W was about to retaliate, he caught a glimpse of the same shimmering blue light emanating from behind the greyhound.

The flashing light and shadow that flew out from behind Greyhound flew out from both sides. Four crystal daggers that were generated instantly were created by Greyhound's left hand, which was hidden behind his back. He then threw them out with extraordinary skill, and with the help of his control over his Originium Arts, they pierced towards W like canine fangs.

W had no choice but to raise his left leg, kick the greyhound in the chest, and use the greyhound's momentum to fly backward.

Four small crystal knives drew two neat Xs in front of the greyhound, and after missing their target, they immediately changed direction and continued to chase after the W in front of them.

As W retreated through the air, two or three Originium explosives jumped out of his sleeve and hurled towards Greyhound.

boom!

After two loud bangs, only a last glimmer of shimmering blue light appeared from the smoke.

After landing, W rolled on the ground a couple of times in a somewhat disheveled manner. Then, he braced himself with his left hand and used his right hand to smash the flying knife against it, deflecting its direction so that the shimmering blue knife grazed the steel blade before being flung to his side.

But just as W had deflected Greyhound's attack, he himself moved like a shadow, his grey figure flashing blue in the darkness, and a long sword materialized in his right hand, thrusting straight at W.

"Fuck him."

W could only curse under his breath, then hooked his left hand around the only remaining crossbow at his waist and pulled it backward.

Without looking back to get a clear view of the building's location, he relied on his memory of the previous reconnaissance and fired a crossbow bolt backward.

With his right hand, he threw the knife forward, activating the Originium explosive hidden in the hilt.

Greyhound's crystal longsword deflected the dagger, which exploded at the side. Greyhound accelerated again and thrust it towards W's chest.

With the blade less than ten centimeters away from W, W finally began to retreat rapidly.

She gripped the crossbow tightly in her left hand, and the rope at the bow snapped shut, carrying her body flying out.

With his right hand, he pulled out two more Originium explosives from his body, turned around to look at Greyhound, and flicked them out.

Greyhound had just suffered a loss from W's Originium explosives, so naturally they were extremely cautious.

Two small knives materialized in his empty left hand, which he then hurled at two Originium explosives emitting an ominous red light, piercing them through. The explosives and the crystal knives then exploded in mid-air.

boom!

Two more explosions rang out, and amidst the billowing smoke, Greyhound took two steps back, cautiously conjuring a small crystal shield in his left hand, wary of any possible surprise attack from W.

In that brief exchange lasting only a few seconds, W failed to gain the slightest advantage over Greyhound.

His physical skills were completely overwhelmed by Greyhound's. Greyhound's Originium Arts, combined with his close-combat techniques, created an extremely powerful close-range assassin template.

W also deeply understood the origin of the Greyhound codename.

It was like a mad dog, emerging from the darkness like a cloud of dust, then baring its sharp fangs. It bit down hard, ready to take your life.

"That's ruthless, senior. You haven't even exchanged two words with him, and you've already beaten him so badly. Don't you know what it means to cherish a woman?"

W's voice came from behind the smoke. Greyhound judged the distance by the sound. W was cautious and, after realizing that he had the advantage in close combat, was unwilling to get any closer to Greyhound.

With a cold laugh, Greyhound pulled his left hand back behind his back and then spoke loudly.

"There's no such thing as showing mercy to women on the battlefield. You and I were both mercenaries wandering Ursus and Kazdel. Leave that kind of talk to those naive fools who dream of being mercenaries."

Is it that obvious?

W was taken aback. She hadn't even revealed her identity yet, only making it clear to Greyhound that she was Theresis's person. But Greyhound guessed W's past after only two encounters.

"His escape methods were so skillful, coupled with Sarkaz's identity and Theresis's subordinates."

The greyhound's eyes were fixed on one of the directions as it spoke.

"It's hard to... not guess!"

Before he could finish speaking, Greyhound conjured two more daggers in his left hand, which was hidden behind his back. Just as the smoke was about to completely dissipate, he flung them in the direction he had chosen.

He wouldn't give W time to regroup and set up the scene.

W is clearly not a close-combat specialist, and Greyhound wouldn't be foolish enough to let the opponent set up an environment favorable to her.

Of course, W couldn't have been without precautions against Greyhound.

While Greyhound was speaking, W was preparing to flee the scene while also keeping a watchful eye on Greyhound.

Both of them were seasoned veterans, and W knew perfectly well that he wouldn't be able to stall for time so easily.

Unfortunately, Greyhound was a step faster than W. W only had time to duck to dodge the two daggers. When she looked up again, the distance between Greyhound and her had been reduced by half.

This is too fast!

W's expression changed, and he turned and ran.

Running away when you can't win is not shameful. For a Sarkaz mercenary, preserving your own life is the only correct choice.

But she hadn't had time to rearrange the bolts she had fired, and she only had one bolt ready.

If they try to run away, the greyhound will definitely catch up with them.

The Greyhound's speed is terrifying. Thinking back to when I was in the Tower of Babel, I had never seen such a person before.

However, W wasn't sure if Greyhound was telling the truth, and she couldn't be foolish enough to tell Greyhound that she, like him, was on the side of the Tower of Babel.
