Ark Undead

"Come in."
A deep voice came from inside the door; it was the Undead speaking.
Liang Xun pushed open the door and saw the Undead and Ongstein still sitting by the fire, looking quite calm and composed.
Liang Xun bowed and asked.
"I wonder, what has this humble official done to displease the Divine General, that he is unwilling to attend the agreed banquet?"
It was clear that even though Liang Xun held the Undead in high esteem, the Undead's breach of promise still stirred a slight anger within him.
Even the immortal knew that his sudden breach of contract was indeed a bad thing, so he spoke up.
"Lord Liang, please don't worry. You haven't done anything wrong. I do have urgent business to attend to and need to go out. I'm sorry."
Hearing the dignified general apologize to him, Liang Xun was startled, yet also felt flattered.
Who am I to make a divine general apologize to me?
Liang Xun's anger subsided considerably, and he quickly looked up, shaking his head repeatedly.
“My lord, there’s no need for apologies. I just wanted to know your plans, to see if there were any preparations we could make in advance, so as to give an explanation to the Imperial Guards who attended tonight’s banquet.”
To put it bluntly, it's perfectly acceptable for someone not to die to attend the banquet; he's a divine general, after all, and divine generals can do whatever they want.
But Liang Xun wanted an explanation, an explanation for these Imperial Guards.
However, when Liang Xun mentioned the Embroidered Uniform Guard, the Undying Man paused for a moment, then immediately realized that these Embroidered Uniform Guards might also be useful.
The immortal immediately spoke.
"Indeed, there's no need for an explanation... Lord Liang, I'd like to change the format of the banquet."
As he spoke, the Undead took out the token of the Southern Expeditionary Army from his armor.
"then."
Liang Xun looked up and saw the Undead throw something over. He instinctively reached out to catch it, but upon closer inspection, he was so startled that he almost threw the token away.
"My lord, what is the meaning of this?! Are you perhaps resigning from your post?"
Seeing Liang Xun's panicked state, the Undying Man knew that Liang Xun had misunderstood again.
"No, don't panic. I need your help."
The immortal spoke up to comfort him.
"This token is already valid, right?"
Liang Xun paused for a moment, then nodded.
"As written in the secret order, indeed, the moment you receive the order is the moment this token takes effect."
"Alright, go and do something for me."
The immortal man stood up from the ground, walked over to Liang Xun, and gestured for him to bring his ear closer.
After all, Yan Di and the guards were right outside the gate, so it was better to be cautious.
Liang Xun cautiously leaned closer and heard the immortal whisper two words in his ear.
But halfway through those two sentences, Liang Xun's pupils involuntarily contracted sharply, and then he gripped the token in his right hand tightly.
After the immortal finished speaking, he straightened up, looked at Liang Xun, and said in a deep voice.
"Did you understand?"
"This humble official understands... Is the Divine General about to make his move?"
Liang Xun respectfully cupped his hands and asked in a low voice.
The Undead reached out and patted Liang Xun on the shoulder, his gaze towards Liang Xun becoming profound.
Liang Xun's question clearly stated his attitude.
He probably knew all along that the Mortal was suspicious. But because of his position, he couldn't tell the Undying Man directly. So, over the past few days, he'd been subtly hinting at the Undying Man through his words and actions.
Even upon hearing where the Undead were going to do that night, they immediately realized who the Undead were planning to attack.
"The reaction was quick. We won't need to hide it anymore."
"Thank you for your magnanimity, General. I know I was wrong."
Liang Xun understood what it meant to not die, and bent down a little further.
The Undead didn't say anything more, but simply waved his hand at Liang Xun, telling him to go ahead and make preparations.
Liang Xun turned and left the room, gently closing the door behind him.
Later that evening, the traveler welcomed a special guest.
"Hello, how can I help you?"
The receptionist approached the woman and greeted her with a smile, showing her the hospitality of a true traveler.
"Um... I'm here to find someone."
W toyed with a card between her fingers as she looked around at the interior of the Red Dust Inn.
In just two or three days, the interior decorations that had been messed up by the Undead, Ornstein, and Greyhounds have been almost completely repaired.
There are still traces of renovation on the walls, but the speed of this work is already very fast.
"Are you a guest? Or...?"
The waiter tried to probe W's needs further to recommend whether she should go to the pub or contact her supervisor.
W smiled at the waiter and then asked.
"Are you the manager here, or just a greeter?"
"Uh...I..."
W saw the waitress was taken aback by her words. She immediately realized that this person had no authority to report to their superiors.
So W simply bypassed the greeter who came to serve him and went straight to the counter, gently placing his badge on it.
"Who is in charge here? Give him this card."
The receptionist at the counter was about to ask W a question, but upon seeing the card on the counter, she hesitated for two seconds, then bowed somewhat flusteredly to W, took the card, and went to find someone in the back.
This reaction clearly indicates that they recognize this thing.
He began to believe Greyhound's explanation more deeply; Red Dust Guest did indeed have some connection with Theresis.
Not long after, a man dressed in an old-fashioned Victorian aristocratic coat came out, holding the card that W had given him.
"So you're a distinguished guest. This way, please."
He handed the card back to W and then led her upstairs. It seemed he wanted to find a quiet place to continue their conversation.
W followed calmly, but as she walked, she casually pulled down her collar to reveal the microphone hidden behind it, so as to transmit the information.
Greyhound, who was waiting at an outdoor seat outside the Red Dust Guest Building, was holding a cup of coffee he had bought from somewhere and looking at his terminal.
Suddenly, a sound came from the earphones. Greyhound randomly brought up a screen on the terminal and shifted all his attention to the earphones.
But what is striking is that next to him is a large women's handbag adorned with black lace patterns.
I don't know if it's W's stuff or something Greyhound did to prepare it.
W followed the man up to the second floor and into a room.
The room's window faces the most bustling street in Shangshu at night, a vibrant and colorful spectacle.
However, if the curtains are drawn, the bright lights bring back the aristocratic atmosphere of the Victorian-style reliefs to the room.
It can only be said that Victoria, as a country, has indeed greatly influenced the development of many cultures.
"You must have gone through a lot of trouble to travel all the way from Kazdel to Great Yan. Did you come to our Red Dust Guest to find a quiet place to stay for the night, or do you want to ask some other questions?"
The man removed the top hat from his head, revealing his twisted horns.
"My surname is Xu, you can just call me Xiao Xu."
W saw it clearly; this was the Sarkaz who came out of Brother Sun's place last night.
Without any hesitation, she plopped down on the sofa and began to speak.
"The Regent ordered me to come to the Great Yan, so naturally there are important matters to attend to. But before I left, someone also told me that I could seek help from the Red Dust Guest."
W stated her needs directly, the cards in her hand still twirling between her fingers.
"It's during the Spring Festival of the Great Yan Dynasty, and security in Shangshu is very tight. It would be quite difficult to do anything here. I wonder if Brother Xu has the ability to make that decision?"
The man, who identified himself as Xu, clearly recognized the card. However, during their conversation, he didn't directly offer to help W. Was this because they didn't want to get involved?
Sure enough, after W explained his needs, the man surnamed Xu looked troubled and seemed to be in a difficult position.
“Well, if it’s just about staying here for one night or asking for some information, I’d be very happy to oblige. But if it’s about doing something illegal or against the law within Shangshu territory... especially now during the Spring Festival, that might not be appropriate.”
W raised an eyebrow. Did this Xu guy in front of him not have the authority to decide whether or not to help Theresis?
So who exactly is the person who is on good terms with Theresis?
The atmosphere between the two cooled down quickly, and W snorted coldly, deliberately saying something.
"I thought our goals were similar and that we could reach a friendly cooperation, but I never imagined that you were just treating the agreement with the king as a joke?"
The man surnamed Xu frowned, and seeing W's angry expression, he quickly spoke up to appease her.
"No, no, how could we dare to do such a thing? It's just that Your Excellency is unaware that the atmosphere in Shangshu has been tense lately. Even we, the Si Sui Tai, have no way to work openly in Shangshu."
When the man surnamed Xu uttered the words "Si Suitai," W understood that her first phase of work was almost complete.
Presumably, the greyhound on the other side had already heard it; he had indeed just claimed to belong to Si Suitai.
"Not only are local officials under security and martial law, but the Emperor of Great Yan has also dispatched a team of Imperial Guards who have just arrived in Shangshu. Those Imperial Guards are the court's henchmen who specialize in handling these matters. The pursuit of the demons has been very intense recently. If you insist on taking action in Shangshu, why not wait a little longer? There's no need to drag yourself into it."
Mr. Xu's earnest words calmed W down considerably.
Seeing W's thoughtful expression, the man breathed a sigh of relief.
"It's not that we want to conjure up a demon seed out of thin air here, but we just need to find a quiet place so that the king's army can enter the Great Yan first."
W said.
"How to enter the city is naturally the king's doing. You just need to find a place where the people of Great Yan can't find you."
